Natalie Portman At ShoWest
Las Vegas, Nevada :: What a chimp! Natalie Portman hugged chimpanzee Sable backstage yesterday night during the final banquet and awards ceremony for ShoWest 2006 held at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel. Portman, 24, was named "Female Star of the Year" by ShoWest, the official convention of the National Association of Theatre Owners. Chimpanzee Sable starred in the short film "The Reel Monkey", which was honored with the 2006 Coca-Cola Refreshing Filmmaker award. Many more pictures in the gallery!

I love the new hair….and I loved the dress until I realized it looks like Captain Kirk’s clothes. Now, I’m not so sure.

The average life span of a chimp is 60 years. Once the animal gets past puberty around age 8 they essentially become unmanageable. So a chimp’s showbiz "career" is very short. The question then is what happens to these animals which are our closest relatives. There are very few chimp rescues so most are sold to horrible road side zoos to live a life of misery and captivity, used for research or disposed of. In this day and age of computer graphics there is no need for the use of chimps in movies.
I Think Ms. Portman is really looking more and more like Ms. Hepburn. Audrey That is…She should do Love in the Afternoon or Roman Holiday….
i thought the exact same thing when i saw the photos on wenn.com this morning. The resem. to Audrey is uncanny. Has antone else seen V yet? - wow. N’s accent is a bit off and she looked a little thin (scarily) but wow, what a movie!
