High School Musical On The Today Show

Even though I’m well outside of Disney’s key demographic, I’m a sucker for happy-go-lucky musicals and I totally bought into the High School Musical phenomenon. The cast is lovable, the choreography is fun and the music is fresh. I’ve watched the film at least three times and I have the soundtrack on repeat — please tell me I’m not the only High School Musical fanatic outside the target audience of ages 5-14!!!! The Disney Channel Original Movie continues to score big TV ratings and the certified-platinum CD even peaked at the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top 200 chart. The sure-to-be-best-selling DVD version of High School Musical hits stores on Tuesday, May 23rd. High School Musical was directed by choreographer/director Kenny Ortega, who also directed the Disney big-screen musical Newsies, which I also own on DVD.

The cast of High School Musical – Monique Coleman, Vanessa Anne Hutchinson, Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel and Ashley Tisdale — performed on the NBC Today show this morning in New York’s Rockefeller Center. The actors also taught some young audience members one of their dance routines. You are not the only one JJ, my nieces and nephews adores this disney film. I must have seen this film with them at least 4 to 5 times, with the you tube and soundtrack in my car…I think I have memorized most of the song as well…

I LOVE High School Musical!!! I am definately not in the demographic of 5-14 range (I am 22)! I am a HUGE fan!! I LOVE the cast, the music, the story, and everything else about it! I have the soundtrack also! I listen to it all the time and watch it too!!

I’ll admit it. I love it and I’m 22. If I was in high school again, I would totally bother all my drama club friends to do it with me for the school production :D

As opposed to the other "kids’" shows that my children watch over and over, I actually enjoy High School Musical myself. Funny, as I type this e-mail, I just heard "Get Your Head in the Game" from the TV downstairs. Apparently there’s another viewing of the show in my house (again). Like the first poster, I’m sure I’ve memorized all of the songs too. I’m thrilled that a new "present time" musical is being so well-received by the public (of all ages). I hope that Hollywood takes note.

I watched that movie and I got chills… later on I exploded and cheese came out of me. That kid scares my friend.. he says he has blind eyes, like he stares like a blind person would.. I don’t really know how that works.. but I can see what he means.

I love HS Musical too. I’m 38 and my two little tweens absolutely adore it! We watch it almost every time it’s on, and the tunes are with us always. It’s such a sweet heartwarming family friendly movie. I think it’s great that my kids will have their own "Grease" to remember when they grow up. I saw that like 15+ in the movie theater - I think mostly because my mom probably loved it too. We finally got my hubby hooked on it last weekend and now he can’t get the songs out of his head either. Watching that movie makes me wish I was 17 again.

No, you are not alone. My three kids, myself, my husband and two dogs have watched High School Musical 5 or 6 times. I even downloaded the soundtract to my ipod. Please don’t identify me.

You aren’t alone! I love the movie… I am 33 years old. My 2 girls, ages 6 and 10 are huge fans. We have the cd and listen to it all the time and sing along. Its a great movie with great role models for todays kids.

Hey, I’m 22 and I absolutely LOVE this movie and it’s soundtrack! I seriously have to watch it at least once a day or my day isn’t complete. And I have the soundtrack on repeat too. I love the cast too! (By the way, the girl that plays Gabriella is named Vanessa Anne Hudgens not Hutchinson) just thought I’d let ya know.

I am like many of you. I am a 23 year old male and I am addicted to High School Musical as well. I bought the soundtrack yesterday and I am attempting to learn the dance moves ;) I also hear they’re in talks to make a sequel. Can’t wait!!!
