Shiseido is the biggest Japanese cosmetic company: their liquid (mate) foundation is the best IMO–better than Channel (sorry "Chanel" here, no offence :) Yes she is very big over there with all her Lara Croft movies etc. and they went absolutely crazy after they went last year for MAMS together. I read that Brad encourages her to take highly lucrative modeling gigs like this, such as St. John. Actually many Holleywood prestigious A-list actors work for lucrative Japanese deals and make commercials that they wouldn’t dare do in the USA, including Jolie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Paul Newman etc. etc. Brad Pitt is FAMOUS doing Edwin jeans, trying to speak Japanese; it’s really really funny. #63 Guli- I agree with you. Old habits die hard. English is my second language . I remember my parents telling me that it was rude to speak in a language that was understood by the majority. I am not sure where Miss Manners stands on the subject of internet etique. By the way, I did understand the French. So that is not the issue.

Shiseido is a popular Japanese cosmetic product used in Asia. its as popular as Estee lauder, lancome, Arden ..etc. Brad and Angelina was really very popular in Asia. I reckon Japanese commercial usually pay much better than the american commercial, I can’t wait for the release of this commercial in the tube.

She has a kinda global colouring. By that I mean, a hispanic person, a European or a North American person with dark colouring or a person from the Indian subcontinent can identify with her colouring and facial features. With a little stretch, even a chinese or Japanese woman can relate to her colouring though not her features. By way of contrast, Estee lauder appointed Gwyneth Paltrow as their face but I’m not sure if an Asian especially an east Asian - Japanese or Chinese can’t relate to her looks. I mean, I do think Paltrow is good looking but would I think the make up she is using would look good on me. Well, not only are her features different from my chinese look but her colour is all wrong too. My skin colour has a yellow tone and my hair and eyebrows etc are black to dark brown. One of my friends is a PR person for a famous make up house and apparently when paltrow’s promotion photos first came out, the people in the industry in Asia called her a poodle.Jennifer Anniston is not as big in Asia as she is in the US. She made her name in Friends - a comedy. If you can’t speak or understand much english, comedy like Friends is difficult to understand. It would be different if she did slapstick comedy or an action movie. Stunts and slapstick are less language dependant and cross cultural. Think about it, most of your first exposure to the Hong Kong movies was probably jackie Chan or Bruce Lee.
