American Dreamz Review
Synopsis :: The new season of American Dreamz, the wildly popular television singing contest, has captured the country’s attention, as the competition looks to be between young Midwestern gal Sally Kendoo (Mandy Moore) and showtunes-loving young man Omer from Orange County (Sam Golzari). Recently awakened President Staton (Dennis Quaid) even wants in on the craze, as he signs up for the potential explosive season finale.
I had very low expectations going in to watch American Dreamz earlier this week since reviews were pretty bad. Fortunately enough, I was able to enjoy myself thanks to this hilarious pair — Sam Golzari as Omer and Tony Yalda as Omer’s flaming cousin Iqbal Riza. (Iqbal has aspirations of winning American Dreamz but in the end winds up as Omer’s manager.) American Dreamz is not Paul Weitz’s best work but hey, it still works. And on a sidenote, I can’t wait for Americanizing Shelley where Yalda will star as Happy Singh!!! American Dreamz opens in theaters nationwide TODAY!
HOW TO WIN A FREE PRIZE PACK :: To win an American Dreamz poster, t-shirt (it says "Are You Sure That’s Dignified?" on it ) and hat, simply leave a comment in this entry with a valid email address (not published) by April 24 @ 7PM EST and a winner will be chosen at random. Good luck!
UPDATE :: Congratulations, Katie! Your prize pack is on the way!

I haven’t seen it yet, but I think it’ll be funny.. a song that includes dreamz with a "Z"… must be something good.

Thanks for the giveaway!
i really want to see this movie, even though i have to wait till next week since i am being dragged to Silent Hill. Either way, i love mandy moore and the movie sounds so funny.
i saw it and didn’t really find it funny at all……mandy moore was really funny and so was the Omer guy and his gay cousin but i did not get any of the Bush jokes…..maybe its cuz i’m canadian and i don’t get it? like i got that they were making fun of Bush and how stupid he is but it just wasn’t funny…..good mock of american idol though they got it perfectly hugh grant basically IS ryan seacrest
I’m was planning on seeing this but now I’m not sure because of the reviews
mandy moore in a new movie…that is great, whats even better is my town actually got it. i cant wait to go see, i dont care what ppl say about her movies, she is always good. Also a total plus is that fact that Hugh Grant is in this movie and he appears to be mocking that ryan dude from american idol…
That ‘z’ at the end of the title KILLS me.
I just saw this movie a couple of hours ago. I LOVED IT (I had doubts due to the so-so reviews as well). Omer and his cousin were definitely the highlight of the movie!! I never expect much from Mandy Moore but she always exceeds my expectiations. Oh, and Dennis Quaid was awesssome…!!
I can spell. I swear. EXPECTATIONS.
i love mandy and the weitz bros are great. i hope this is better than most of the reviews. and so glad to see hugh grant as something other than the charming bumbling romantic lead.
i actually still really want to see this movie!
This movie looks like one of those guilty pleasure type movies, but I’ve actually been hearing some good things about it just in the past 48 hours.
WOW! I saw the movie yesterday and it was great! Mandy Moore continues to prove that she isn’t just a singer who can pull off acting, she is a real movie actress!Thumbs up!
I love Mandy Moore! She just keeps getting better and better as an actress. I wonder if she still loves her man like candy?
cant wait to see it
