ok so now I am on a soapbox because I am passionate about this:In the USA we have so called poor ppl-To me poverty is a state of mind- what makes someone poor in the eyes of others? is it the way they look, what they wear? Their housing or what? I will tell you-the classifications of class and income are based moreso on proper manners than anything else-Ex: Two black families in the USA living in the south. One family has 9 kids and another has 8. The 9 kid family lives in a small two bedroom home two streets over from the 8 kids family-Both attend the same church. However, the ppl at church think the 9 kid family is rich and the 8 kid family is poor? why? Both have both parents. Both dads work on the river hauling boxes (precursor to fedex!) Both moms stay at home. Here’s the difference:The mom of the nine kid family is organized because her mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother were. She divides her kids into groups. The three oldest girls take care of the three youngest girls-The three boys work outside in the garden-yes they have a garden-90% of the food they eat comes from the garden-When they buy bulk items like flour and sugar the mom takes the seams out of the gingham cloth that the flour come in, makes patterns from newspaper and makes her girls clothes. The three oldest girls were taught to do this also-All three girls can cook, clean, sew, change diapers, comb hair, and can food. The boys know how to plow, harvest, shell peas, save cotton seeds to put in your jelly jars so they won’t break in the winter. They also know how to build a shed and repair various items. The mom does laundry for a woman in town. From the money she makes she buys more cloth and makes clothes for the rest of the family-Her family always looks nice ;The 8 member family is at a loss as to how you survive-They also have a garden, but no one knows how to sew and their hygiene is not the best because they do not have money for soap all of the time nor deodorant-The oldest girls resent having to work so most of them get pregnant so they can leave home -By doing so-they take No survival skills with them and continue to perpetuate the idea that they are poor! Again-sorry for the long post but I am sure you get where I am going

You’re right we should give if we support her causes. I’ve felt a conviction for the last year to give. So I started with Yele Haiti, United Nations for Refugees, Witness, Global Campaign for Education and Genocide Intervention Network. But I’ve given to other charities such as Habitat for Humanity, ASPCA, Peta, Humane Society of the United States and Defenders of Animals. I know most have been for animals rights, which I feel is important, I hope my contributions towards humanitarian causes will help make a difference as well.
