Angelina Jolie on The Today Show

Ann Curry :: In what seems to be the middle of no where, on the edge of Namibia in Southern Africa. A very pregnant Angelina Jolie emerged from her private family vacation to speak on behalf of children in poor countries who don’t get to go to school. What is the worst, in your mind, of that?
Angelina Jolie :: God, there are just so many things. It’s really that thought of the potential of a human being. The lack of education causes death. More children die under the age of 5 when the parents aren’t educated. More people get AIDS when they haven’t had an education. Statistics prove that if every child was in school, every year, 700,000 less people would get AIDS.
AC :: It seems also, for you, kind of a personal thing. You have two children you’ve adopted. Both of you whom might have been in this same circumstance of not being able to get educated. And when you look at them and realize that…
AJ :: I look at them and just think, especially my daughter and how many millions of kids are out of school in her country. Especially girls. And I know how families with AIDS when parents die of AIDS, there’s no possible way that children can make a school fee. There’s no possible way she would have gone to school. And she is so smart and so strong. Her potential as a women one day is great. You multiply her by thousands and that is the thing that I can so clearly see when I look at her. Maddox — the amount of street children in his country… in all probability Maddox would have probably been one of the kids going the garbage picking in the streets. He would have been on his own.
AC :: It must mean much to you, as a human being, to be able to give them an opportunity they never would have gotten.
AJ :: I’m happy for them that they’re gonna have all this education and I hope, with it, they do some good things. That they’re good people. [giggles]

I saw the interview and she looks so happy and radiant. I like when she said that Brad teases her about her giggles, hey guys do you know that this is the first time I ever saw her so happy and relax, YOU GO ANGIE

She is truly a beautiful person both inside and out. But especially on the inside. It takes great effort, drive and perseverance all of which she has and continues to exhibit. She is inspiring and that she has found in Brad a lot of those same qualities can’t hurt. Maddox and Zahara a lucky little children and I pray that always remember and appreciate just how blessed they are. We often times take our mothers and fathers for granted, but whether they are natural or adopted, they tried and in some of our cases are still trying the best to give us what they may not have had. I can remember being quite the little ass when I was a teen and apologized to my parents when I graduated from Loyola…a university that they had to pay for…cash and moved on years later. It wasn’t until then that I realized how much they sacrificed to make that tuition and just how privileged (and it was a privilege) I was to go. A college education may not be necessary but a primary, grade and high school education is. Education a necessity not an option for those who can afford it. Angelina is right all children should be given the opportunity to attend and learn. You don’t know what you have until you no longer have it , or it is forbidden to you.

I read that she agreed to answer questions about her pregnancy and Brad in order to get such a high-profile interview and be able to highlight her education platform. So she’s willing to give up details of her personal life for something that is truly valuable - good for her. At least she’s not doing it for another magazine cover or movie promotion. I have to admit, I was not always a fan of Angelina or Brad. Like most people, I found her very strange based on her past actions. But in the past few years I have increasingly liked her. i believe she is genuinely passionate about the causes she promotes. She’s not a saint and has never pretended to be; she herself admitted to having numerous skeletons in her closet. But she honestly tries to make a difference. I think more people should adopt that attitude.At least she is directing all media attention on her and her pregnancy to issues, causes, country, people that needs to be focused on.

most of you know me as a jen’s FAN and i am!!but I HAVE TO ADMIT THAT PREGNANCY work well for her!SHE IS BEAUTIFUL!and SHE IS REALLY CUTE WHEN SHE IS GIGGLING!!!!!see that all the jen’s FAN ARE NOT HATER!!!i wish them the best!!!!

I, of course am a BAMZ+1 lover, but I agree somewhat with someone who posted on another thread-For all of the millions raised in the past and until now in the various areas such as aids awareness, healthcare, food, schools, why is it AFRICA still has some of the poorest places in the world? This is a place with many natural resources-diamonds, uranium, oil, . . . .Yet, it is war-torn (why allow Rwanda but fight for Iraq?) Education is more than going to school-Actually if you can read and comprehend, you can become educated without school-look how far this country progressed without some of our forefathers having formal educations. What I am trying to say is stop the million dollar donations-buy some materials and send skilled laborers over there to build adequate shelter-while they rae there let them teach others. Account for every penny that is spent. We have free public education in the US, but we are so busy trying to eliminate drugs, teen pregnancy, crime, and violence from the schools, that we can’t teach. Truly the weapons of Mass Destruction were NEVER in Iraq-They are here in the form of illiteracy, apathy, laziness, and ignorance-

Everytime I see that part when she get’s the giggle fits, I do too! It’s so funny, and she’s like "it’s hormonal,it’s the pregnancy" and Anne Curry is suggesting that AJ get pregnany alot…..AJ didn’t say no, so who knows, Brad might just keep her in a hormonal driven state of the giggles for the the next 4-5!jpf

I loved how she giggled and laughed in the interview. Can’t wait to see the complete interview on Sunday. She is absolutely stunning! No makeup, just glowing from inside, full of joy and love, no wonder she cannot stop smiling and giggling. If I sound like one of her biggest fans, you got that right. Totally love her laugh, her glowing face. For the naysayers, take a chill pill, and find another thread that’s more to your taste. Why send out all that negativity at this time. Angie’s fans have heard it all, and your comments pretty much just show your tabloid mentality and narrow mindedness. I feel that Angie is even now just coming into her own, she is capable of so much more, so be prepared for her coming greatness in the years ahead. I, for one, wish her, and her beautiful family, all the health and happiness they so deserve. She wants to make a difference in this world, and she will do it, no matter you pesky irritants seem to have a problem with that. GO BAMZ+1!!!

I saw the interview this morning, I love it, she is so passionate every time Ann Curry asked her about children….Classy lady all the way our Angie…She IS truly a beautiful person both inside and out. SHE LOOKS FABULOUS.SHE’S RADIANT I must have watched this video so many toimes that i’m started to giggle.I love the honesty and the sincerity with which she speaks and the looks in her eyes that say that she is geniune in her efforts and her causes.I look forward to seein gmore of her and also of watching the other segment.

It is the negative people coming to these threads and her just not stopping from talking about it that turned me off on her. She looks lovely and Actually cares about people. HOW in the hell do you steal somebody HUSBAND…Brad didn’t want Chinnifer ANYMORE!He dumped her on his OWN will! Get over this Chinnifer FANS. Also the HO seems to be Jennifer, dry humping Vince on a balconey for the cameras to see. Chinnifer looks Stupid in her interviews because her face is UGLY, her comments are repeats, and she needs her stupid friends to defend her.
