Angelina Jolie on The Today Show

Ann Curry :: In what seems to be the middle of no where, on the edge of Namibia in Southern Africa.  A very pregnant Angelina Jolie emerged from her private family vacation to speak on behalf of children in poor countries who don’t get to go to school. What is the worst, in your mind, of that?
Angelina Jolie ::
God, there are just so many things.  It’s really that thought of the potential of a human being.  The lack of education causes death.  More children die under the age of 5 when the parents aren’t educated.  More people get AIDS when they haven’t had an education.  Statistics prove that if every child was in school, every year, 700,000 less people would get AIDS.
AC :: It seems also, for you, kind of a personal thing.  You have two children you’ve adopted.  Both of you whom might have been in this same circumstance of not being able to get educated.  And when you look at them and realize that…
AJ :: I look at them and just think, especially my daughter and how many millions of kids are out of school in her country.  Especially girls.  And I know how families with AIDS when parents die of AIDS, there’s no possible way that children can make a school fee.  There’s no possible way she would have gone to school.  And she is so smart and so strong.  Her potential as a women one day is great.  You multiply her by thousands and that is the thing that I can so clearly see when I look at her.  Maddox — the amount of street children in his country… in all probability Maddox would have probably been one of the kids going the garbage picking in the streets.  He would have been on his own.
AC :: It must mean much to you, as a human being, to be able to give them an opportunity they never would have gotten.
AJ ::
I’m happy for them that they’re gonna have all this education and I hope, with it, they do some good things.  That they’re good people. [giggles]

Angelina Rules! @ 04/27/2006 at 2:40 pm

She looks lovely and Actually cares about people. HOW in the hell do you steal somebody HUSBAND…Brad didn’t want Chinnifer ANYMORE!He dumped her on his OWN will! Get over this Chinnifer FANS. Also the HO seems to be Jennifer, dry humping Vince on a balconey for the cameras to see. Chinnifer looks Stupid in her interviews because her face is UGLY, her comments are repeats, and she needs her stupid friends to defend her.

Queen Angelina I @ 04/27/2006 at 2:44 pm

She was so sweet and so likable in the interview. Something very innocent, pure and childlike about her. She really shines in this interview. I think she almost cried when talking about her kids. This woman is phenomenal. Love the scarf!

The pics where she has a big o smile makes me laugh because she was cracking up at that part of the interview. She’s seems soo damn happy!

creativegirl @ 04/27/2006 at 2:45 pm

I’m sure on Sunday night they will show a lot more of her at the school since they didn’t really show anything on it and I that is the whole reason behind the interview. She will probaly answer the Brad questions that we’ve seen answers to elsewhere about how they just happened. It wasn’t something they planned to become a couple - it just happened. She looks amazing - I can’t wait for this baby.

micehlley @ 04/27/2006 at 2:46 pm

She’s a beautiful person. No airness just plain ‘ol Angelina as you see it inside out.. If all celebrity put their mind into helping then there’s no hunger in sight for each country.. Instead most celebrities are power hungered for their fame and fortune as if they need to outlast and outwill each other..Who gets to have the most expensive bags or how many estates they could afford for a year after signing a contract..How come it took a while for New Orleans to be in it’s place again.. Because there were only few people that donated their time and effort pro bonno…Maybe there are some celebrities that donated to Charity in good faith but they don’t blast their horns into telling the world that they too have helped. I think it’s to late to be labelled and considered humble individuals, and why is that they have to be shy or anonimously??Why is that Paris’s naked video was televised and Janet’s nipple gate too.. How come when a celebrity does something good such as do gooders for charity doesn’t get as much notice as such publicized extortion from the media?? I wonder why?? Maybe the world we live in contained animosity and vain that most people will strive for the better self and not worry about their neighbour. At least Angelina was being honest to herself. Her image as a movie actress and as a person is not always accepted; back to her vials of blood and 2 failed marriages, but one thing she stood out from any celebrity at hand is that she takes herself to this poor stricken and corrupt lands and helped rebuild not with her bodyguards but with her money, ambition and plan… Maybe Brad’s seen that there’s more to life than making movies and be a suave person in the media.. He looked at Angelina and realize that with this woman there’s hope and there’s life outside stardom..Call Angelina a husband stealer but I rather be her than anybody else, co’z she’s not trying to be a pompous righteous person. She’s simply a woman whose dream of a better place and yeah with all baggage that comes with her..For all JA fans have you heard lately any charity she’s providing or giving 1/3rd of her millions to?? I think JA & BP marriage didn’t last because JA was in tuned to be the next mega star of hollywood (whenever that’ll be). Hey good for her if that’s her wish, but again she’s just like one of us, she’s going to be old and the beauty outside fades……Peace!!!

# 46 | Estelle I made sure, I got up early this morning just to watch the Today show. And boy, it was worth the wait, The interview was positive and for a good cause. Angelina looks radiant and quietly satisfied and happy. Did you catch what Matt said after the interview? This is what he said. ""It’s nice to hear that she’s doing her homework. There are celebrities no names who go out and promote their cause and you don’t feel anything there but for a photo opt. She clearly done some research into this." and Anne Curry responded she’s "the real deal." And at the end she also added…"she’s going to be fine." It is true. I love how she research and she does her homework before even talking about it, not to mention being there physically as well. I still reading the "Notes from my travel" by A.J. and the way she wrote everything is, as if you were there too. How she explain it so detailed. I actually respect her for the way she turned her life around or evolving with her life…and turned it into positive way. Too bad, the haters can’t open their eyes and heart.

the real tita @ 04/27/2006 at 2:48 pm

Oh, no! I have Firefox and it didn’t work when I tried playing the video clip. On Dateline, does anybody know if this is the same interview as Today’s with Ann Curry doing the interviewing? Or are they going to have a separate segment.

I am sincerely proud to be a fan of Angie’s (and of Brad’s). They inspire me to find a way to help those in need, whether those in need are local or in another country. Thanks Jared for posting the screencaps and video.

hey guys i just looked at the other thread and you were talking about songs, a couple of weeks ago i suggested this song but it was dismissed cos of who sings it, but check out the lyrics, it kinda makes me think of brad and angelina."Beautiful Woman lyrics"How can I begin to Tell you what you do to Me every time I hear ya More willing to wanna see ya I know that there’s no use in Tryin’ to explain the confusion But still I’m not complainin”Bout my situation Let’s not talk about a Possible ending The very first time that I Was lookin’ to be your fella I found my inspiration Hidin’ in your expression So I put myself on forward For your consideration [Chorus:]Let’s not talk about a Possible ending Let’s not think about it Every day And I know I’m so In love With you I’m finding it harder and harder to breath Every time I’m near A beautiful woman And so we put the top down To take you drivin’ downtown I guess we’ll know just what to do When you’re lookin’ to fool around It’s too late to stop me I know we’re gonna get down [Chorus]A beautiful woman A beautiful woman A beautiful woman B is for beautiful as the sunshine E tells me everything is feelin’ alright A goes to you and me swingin’ it down T is two I want you You’ve got me actin’ like a fool [Chorus]im going on my date in a bit so gotta put the dlam rags on and shovel the make up on! ill catch up with you later, hopefully tomorrow if all goes well )wink, wink) only kidding! im a good girl… almost fooled myself then! lol.take care,Rock on BAMZ+1 love ya.

dont you all just LOVE this lady? she is trying her hardest and using her star power for the better causes out there. I just love her. she has inspired me to get with a children international program where I sponsor children from places like AFrica and such… anyone who says she is an "idiot" is basically a HATER… can’t wait to watch this interview tonight, thank goodness for Tivo!!!! thanks again JJ..

i’m beginning to like this woman…i find her very sincere and she’s not shallow. i wish her well and her family.

alys, It’s nice to have a refreshing comment from a JA fan. I am a n AJ fan all the way. I believe myself to be an objective person and there are a few times, when I find JA to be likable. (I’m sorry, I can’t say I feel anything more for her or I’d be lying). I think you are not the coward that some of your counterparts are when they blindly hate AJ even though it’s clear that she is sincere in her efforts and stunning insude and out.

Gosh , I love this girl!!!! Wish she was my daughter. I’d be so damned proud of her. BTW: To the poster who called her a "husband stealing *****" first, the marriage was over before he filmed TROY in Malta. Second, she didn’t "steal" anything. Brad isn’t some inanimate post. It takes two to end a a marriage, and two to start a relationship. I think people need to get out of their personal business, and stopping passing judgement on incorrect, inaccurate and certainly incomplete information. We don’t "know" these people.

Last year ,Angie’s interview with Ann Curry was somewhat tense and defensive but today’s interview was heartwarming. I am in awe how Brad and Angelina complement each other in the best way. They share the same passions,first-family and second-humanitarian causes. Together, their appeal is more magnetic than ever. They personify the best of being a celebrity, diligently deflecting attention to the people who need it the most. That is why we admire them more than ever.Angelina’s metaphor of "helping thy neighbor" is a powerful message of HOPE. The US has more resources compare to other countries and why not help others as long as it can.Angelina is simply beautiful inside and out.Brad is a lucky man and vice versa.BAMZ +1 forever!

Alexanderina @ 04/27/2006 at 2:59 pm

Hey Joy, Matt and Ann are so right about Angie doing her homework on the Causes that she beleieves in. I remembered watching FoxNews and they were talking about celebrities and Causes, and they mentioned that the Senators in Washington admired Angie and Bono for the work that they do on different Issues because they just don’t do the talk they walk it as well, they researched the Issues that are important to them, find out the correct informations, not like some people that just put their name to a Cause and only shows up for the photo opt. Angie and Bono really and truly believe in their Causes, and I admire both of them for what they believe in and how they go about achieving it.; and Ann Curry is right, Angie is going to be fine, she is a strong woman.

brad is so lucky:)

here somthing From the Oprah Show Website:Academy Award®-winning actress Angelina Jolie took on the role of a lifetime when she became a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. As an ambassador, Angelina has made it her personal mission to raise awareness about the atrocities happening in the Sudan and around the world. In April 2006, Angelina wrote a letter to USA Today and shared the "four facts Americans should know about Darfur." In the letter, she writes: "I’m an actress and certainly no foreign-policy expert, but I’ve traveled to the region twice and believe that if Americans knew forcible facts that I’ve learned about Darfur, they would demand action from our government and would act themselves … We can stop this but only if government leaders make it a high priority." http://www2.oprah.com/tows/slide/200604/20…6_284_111.jhtml

Ditto, Alexanderina. That’s what I like about Angelina. She has never pretended to be somebody. I can’t wait for Sunday, the rest of the interview.

PHIL ANTHROPISt @ 04/27/2006 at 3:18 pm

I believe that Ann Curry, when talking to hosts Couric and Lauer that she is "the real deal"…that translates to someone who walks the walk. We may not be able to determine AJ’s sincerity on the issues she promotes, but those that DO KNOW her, all conclude that she is an amazingly dedicated and knowledgeable activist. Check out http://www.invisibilechildren.com…this org was started by Film school grads and Southern California upper class kids who when to Africa on a vacation and came back with a mission.

# 33 | maliubmom I agree on so many points. It’s something that will never stop being a puzzlement to me the things we’re willing to dig deep for monetarily speaking, and what on the otherhand we have to be begged before handing over a one red penny.I think AJ is actually of the philosphy that says “give a man a fish; you have fed him for today. Teach a man to fish; and you have fed him for a lifetime.” I really have never gotten the impression that she’s simply about raising funds just to hand them over without it being clear how the monies are to be used, and that’s generally been a cause were a return on the "investment" is expected. Every project that I know of that she backs, seems to have a goal of helping people to become productive and self sufficient and I totally agree, and I myself seek out those areas of need where there is a return on the investment via the recipients being able to one day operate independent of constant outside assistance. I don’t think a lot of people support the The Millennium Villages Project, but I think it’s wonderful, useful, and they get my money because I believe in it’s goals. And I will always support any program whose goal is to provide an education because even at it’s most basic, it can move mountains.jpf

#33 thats exactly the problem, they raise awarness, not money for them.. don’t get me wrong I don’t say that about Angelina cuz I love her and she gives out of her own pocket, but if you pay attention a lot of the stars are JUST raising awarness, think about it the Jerry Lewis telethon has been going on for more that 30 years and they still have no clue on how to cure MD, they have raised BILLIONS, for MD, but kids are still suffering everywhere…a lot of that money ends up in politicians pockets.

Admit, I’ve been judgemental. I read lately that Brad has started to mend fences with the ex-wife, at least professionally. My wish for all: peace and resolution. For Jennifer, it will always be so bittersweet, no matter what. She was so crazy about Brad. Hurts to love the love of your life to another. But life goes on. Angelina is trying so hard to live down the scandal.

Oh how much I love Angie!

the tempest @ 04/27/2006 at 3:37 pm

Angelina, how I love thee.
