Angelina Jolie on The Today Show
Ann Curry :: In what seems to be the middle of no where, on the edge of Namibia in Southern Africa. A very pregnant Angelina Jolie emerged from her private family vacation to speak on behalf of children in poor countries who don’t get to go to school. What is the worst, in your mind, of that?
Angelina Jolie :: God, there are just so many things. It’s really that thought of the potential of a human being. The lack of education causes death. More children die under the age of 5 when the parents aren’t educated. More people get AIDS when they haven’t had an education. Statistics prove that if every child was in school, every year, 700,000 less people would get AIDS.
AC :: It seems also, for you, kind of a personal thing. You have two children you’ve adopted. Both of you whom might have been in this same circumstance of not being able to get educated. And when you look at them and realize that…
AJ :: I look at them and just think, especially my daughter and how many millions of kids are out of school in her country. Especially girls. And I know how families with AIDS when parents die of AIDS, there’s no possible way that children can make a school fee. There’s no possible way she would have gone to school. And she is so smart and so strong. Her potential as a women one day is great. You multiply her by thousands and that is the thing that I can so clearly see when I look at her. Maddox — the amount of street children in his country… in all probability Maddox would have probably been one of the kids going the garbage picking in the streets. He would have been on his own.
AC :: It must mean much to you, as a human being, to be able to give them an opportunity they never would have gotten.
AJ :: I’m happy for them that they’re gonna have all this education and I hope, with it, they do some good things. That they’re good people. [giggles]

Trust me this post is mild compared to what we get everyday. Poor JJ has to sit and clear posts that makes death wishes on this family. African Girl is resting back at home after a life threatening attack from a AKIMBO hater early this morning when she was apparently stabbed with a dagger in her chest. African Girls cousin and soon to be married confidant called 911 in a panic immediately after the incident early this morning. Paramedics arrived after the call and reported that African Girl was found laying on the floor in a pool of blood.Bewildered paramedics said her final words were "I AM NOT A JEN FAN!!!" CPR was immediately initiated, but despite a coordinated effort by Chicago’s Paramedic Unit, a flat line appeared across the cardiac monitors with just a glimpse of a PSR wave. As attempts to defibrillate the victim were unsuccessful, one of the paramedics noticed the Today Show with Angelina Jolie in Namibia, a much anticipated interview was airing on NBC. Thanks j@red for the quick updates..like talk about dang..jk. I totally can’t wait to watch her whole DATELINE interview, whoo! AJ looks so amazing & content!!! It was funny how she stated that her giggles can last up to an hour..lol. I finally got my hands on that new people mag and now I can go ahead and frame it..just joshing, not really frame it. But anyway, the mag wrote the dates & countries that they’ve been to, separated & together. The together piece made me crazy, not to the extent tho..ok sometimes i’m just weird..there ya go..lmaobamz+ rocks!!
Clooney, senators urge action on DarfurPublished - Apr 27 2006 3:12PM EDT | | CNN——————————————————————-WASHINGTON (CNN) Oscar winner George Clooney Friday joined two senators, Republican Sam Brownback of Kansas and Democrat Barack Obama, to appeal for greater action to address what is being described as genocide in Sudan’s Darfur region. The three urged more attention across the board — by the United States, other nations and world institutions. "What we cannot do is turn our heads and look away and hope that this will somehow disappear," Clooney said. "Because if we do, they will. They will disappear," he said, noting that an "entire generation of people will be gone. Then, only history will be left to judge us." He pointed to the massacres in Rwanda, Cambodia and the Balkans in recent years. The director and recent winner of an Academy Award for best supporting actor for his role in "Syriana" will be attending the Save Darfur rally in Washington Sunday, one of several such demonstrations across the United States. Other prominent speakers expected at the Washington rally include Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel, "Hotel Rwanda" proprietor Paul Rusesabagina, entertainment mogul Russell Simmons, Olympics gold medalist speed skater Joey Cheek, and former NBA star Manute Bol, who was born in Sudan. A rally is also expected at the Sudanese Embassy on Friday. Clooney was recently in Sudan with his father and showed a brief film of their trip. He related a story about meeting a "little elf of a young woman" who asked him in Arabic, "When will you come back," and "When will you stop this?" He said he told the translator to tell her that "we’ll be there soon." Clooney said she laughed, held onto his finger and said, "That’s what you always say."
