Angelina Jolie on The Today Show
Ann Curry :: In what seems to be the middle of no where, on the edge of Namibia in Southern Africa. A very pregnant Angelina Jolie emerged from her private family vacation to speak on behalf of children in poor countries who don’t get to go to school. What is the worst, in your mind, of that?
Angelina Jolie :: God, there are just so many things. It’s really that thought of the potential of a human being. The lack of education causes death. More children die under the age of 5 when the parents aren’t educated. More people get AIDS when they haven’t had an education. Statistics prove that if every child was in school, every year, 700,000 less people would get AIDS.
AC :: It seems also, for you, kind of a personal thing. You have two children you’ve adopted. Both of you whom might have been in this same circumstance of not being able to get educated. And when you look at them and realize that…
AJ :: I look at them and just think, especially my daughter and how many millions of kids are out of school in her country. Especially girls. And I know how families with AIDS when parents die of AIDS, there’s no possible way that children can make a school fee. There’s no possible way she would have gone to school. And she is so smart and so strong. Her potential as a women one day is great. You multiply her by thousands and that is the thing that I can so clearly see when I look at her. Maddox — the amount of street children in his country… in all probability Maddox would have probably been one of the kids going the garbage picking in the streets. He would have been on his own.
AC :: It must mean much to you, as a human being, to be able to give them an opportunity they never would have gotten.
AJ :: I’m happy for them that they’re gonna have all this education and I hope, with it, they do some good things. That they’re good people. [giggles]

I used to like AJ. Never really had an opinion about BP. But they just seem so contrived. Any pictures of the family have to be posed (the exact word used by Hello Magazine)…nothing natural. Of course they will look their best and happy in posed photos! This interview and photo shoot came out of the blue RIGHT AFTER a barrage of negative stuff was published. They ask for privacy and seclude themselves behind teams of security, but show themselves when it suits their tightly contrived media image. I think she is really pretty but very calculating and contrived. Even the giggle seems like a role she is playing for the cameras…so far from her more sophisticated persona.Although all rumors, I can’t help to believe that she is a ***** behind closed doors and that BP will have enough after the thrill of seeing his long awaited biological child.

Angelina Jolie is a great role model. Her new cause calling for all the world’s children to be given the opportunity to get an education has inspired me to sponsor a child through Catholic charities. I really admire her for her strong belief that our children are our future.
#105 - NOT ACTING OR CONTRIVED….Perhaps they are both guarded and cautious. That is understandable given the negative press. Their comments to Papparazis so they wouldn’t disturbe the Namibians. I don’t recall negative press on them last week just overzealous papps trying to get the 1st picture of the baby, while they are on vacation. The hello photo-op and this interview are opportunities to diffuse the situation and refocus them on the real issues. It was getting crazy there for a momment.

Were you even watching the same show? Are you sure you weren’t projecting JA’s persona on the screeen? Talk about "contrived", not to mention "cold and uninteresting". And that "barrage of negative stuff" that you mentioned is nothing but tabloid fodder hoping to hook bitter people like you into buying their crap. Angelina is a beautiful woman who is choosing to do great humanitarian work, BUT I really do have a problem with getting together with Brad before the divorce and getting pregnant before it was finalized. If it was my husband/ex-husband - I would not be very happy. (I would put the blame of hubby and angelina)
But TORN, JA did get with VV before the divorce, so whats the difference, why is it over for JA to get with VV before the divorce but the BP with AJ. When they meaning JA & BP decided to separate and she filed for divorce isn’t the marriage over then, so that means all parties can do what they want then right
It’s indeed unfortunate the the debate and dialogue centers on AJ’s personal life…"AJ Acting" and others not impressed by humanitarian deeds are creating a diversion from the real issues…AJ wants us to focus and that is why she is using her fame and notorieity to bring attention to the millions of children in poverty and desperation. Don’t let AJ’s detractors interfer with the message from AJ today…those people who want to judge should be ignored…onto better things, eh?

You are so right, PHIL ANTHROPIST, but people are so stuck in the past and so full of hatred for AJ that they can’t see anything else, the woman did not do anything to these people and the hate her so much, sometimes you have to wonder about the mental state of some people. Torn, yeah I think you are a little jaded and you have a right to be because of what happened to you in the past, but I truly believe that when a divorce is filed and JA filed that there is no longer a relationship between the parties and each party can do whatever they want. I don’t know about JA and VV being a rebound thing, but you could be right, because I remembered when she gave a interviewed she said she did not want to be a REBOUND GIRL, but maybe she did go that route after all. I just think that its been over a year and people should just let go all the negativity against BP and AJ. It seems like all parties are happy in their current relationship, well at least I hope they all are, don’t want to speculate here cause I am not a psychic(sp)
