Angelina Jolie on The Today Show

Angelina Jolie on The Today Show

Ann Curry :: In what seems to be the middle of no where, on the edge of Namibia in Southern Africa.  A very pregnant Angelina Jolie emerged from her private family vacation to speak on behalf of children in poor countries who don’t get to go to school. What is the worst, in your mind, of that?
Angelina Jolie ::
God, there are just so many things.  It’s really that thought of the potential of a human being.  The lack of education causes death.  More children die under the age of 5 when the parents aren’t educated.  More people get AIDS when they haven’t had an education.  Statistics prove that if every child was in school, every year, 700,000 less people would get AIDS.
AC :: It seems also, for you, kind of a personal thing.  You have two children you’ve adopted.  Both of you whom might have been in this same circumstance of not being able to get educated.  And when you look at them and realize that…
AJ :: I look at them and just think, especially my daughter and how many millions of kids are out of school in her country.  Especially girls.  And I know how families with AIDS when parents die of AIDS, there’s no possible way that children can make a school fee.  There’s no possible way she would have gone to school.  And she is so smart and so strong.  Her potential as a women one day is great.  You multiply her by thousands and that is the thing that I can so clearly see when I look at her.  Maddox — the amount of street children in his country… in all probability Maddox would have probably been one of the kids going the garbage picking in the streets.  He would have been on his own.
AC :: It must mean much to you, as a human being, to be able to give them an opportunity they never would have gotten.
AJ ::
I’m happy for them that they’re gonna have all this education and I hope, with it, they do some good things.  That they’re good people. [giggles]

#144 Yes I do donate $$ to charities. And yes, including Angie’s charities. I’m grateful that I am in a position that I can……She looked wonderful! It’s nice to see her smile and LAUGH!Interesting what she said, regarding where they will have the baby. Hmmm…..Maybe they will have it in LA after all, at CEDARS……. IMO, I still think she will give birth next month. Only time will tell……..ROCK ON BAMZ +1!!

AddictedtoBAMZ+1 @ 04/27/2006 at 9:17 pm

How much do I love Brad? I endured one hour, clicking back and forth between four entertainment shows , just to be sure I didn’t miss a two-minute preview of him in his new movie–the first time to my knowledge a PREVIEW has been advertised and anticipated for DAYS!–groaning through the preposterous coverage by these shows of Amy Fisher and Joey Bottafuco, which they had the nerve to present as "A Major T.V. Event!" (does anyone more than two hundred miles from New York have any idea who they are?) Now THAT proves I am addicted to Brad!

Angelina gave a wonderful interview w/Curry. It was good to see Angelina giggling like a school girl. Her unborn baby can feel her moods when she’s this happy. Brad is very lucky to has this beautiful woman willing to give him child he always wanted. I like Angelina the question she said about her children.AJ :: "I’m happy for them that they’re gonna have all this education and I hope, with it, they do some good things. That they’re good people."

I donate to different charities when I can, but I don’t make the kind of money that Angelina makes-not even in the ballpark. So, my question is are there other ways of helping that involve donating time or other things besides money? I’m just asking because many people are struggling to get by themselves and may want to donate money but they don’t have it. With the One organization they are very smart in letting people know other ways to contribute and make a difference without just giving money. Writing to congresspeople, making others aware, etc. With Angelina’s charities, are other means of helping available?

Wow, she looks just beautiful–and that is one very happy woman. As she should be!

I love her passion for helping others. It shows in her eyes and her demeanor. She knows when to be serious and when it’s ok to laugh and be silly. I truly admire this woman for how far she has come. Thinking back of past interviews where she’s expressed how much of a wild child and self mutilator she was. It’s amazing this is the same person. Cheers Angie! What a wonderful inspiration you are to all women of the world!

To AddictivetoBAMZ+1 I think this Amy Fisher is a woman who was accused of shoothing her lover’s wife. She did his when she was a teenager, they call her the Long Island Lolita. Buttafuco was the lover. She did some time in jail. So, there you go!Que Viva La BAMZ+1!

wow! two threads to read. people magazine should have put one of these pictures on the cover. no makeup, hair under a scarf, she still looks better than most of the painted dolls in hollywood.the giggling was cute, but i don’t think she liked being compared to laura bush.

# 154 | AddictedtoBAMZ+1 |, thank god you fessed up, I did the same thing but at least I got to see it eventually after the torture of wathching Amy Fisher and Joey Bottafuco, how to they get on these entertainment shows, it’s not funny or entertaining, welll whatever….But I am looking forward to seeing that movie.# 139 | QUESTION TO BAMZ- I have always volunteered in my community as well as donate as much as I can mostly to UN activities, since I was born a raised in third world country. But, if an event like tsunami or Katrina happens, I’m on the phone right away! Anymore inquisitions? May I kindly ask what you have been doing????

144-we donate to charities.MY 2 sons volunteered at the public library tutoring for remedial classes. After college, one did 1yr. with Americorps ,the other did more than a yr. with a wildlife refuge, dealing with endangered species/animals.You see,we look at the critical issues in the world same way Aj does. MY admiration has grown for Aj/bp. Now there’s 2 of them raising awareness. They’ll make an excellent team. BAMZ have WALKED THE TALK!!!!

La admiro mucho es una mujer con los pies en la tierra .I admire her she she is down to earth. Le deseo lo mejor para ella y toda su familia. I wish her and her family the best. Abrazos ,Carinos y Besos . Keep on going Angelina the best luck.

Original Curious @ 04/27/2006 at 10:11 pm

When it happened, The Amy/Joey mess was really big news. Partly because of her age - I can’t remember now, but I think she was just 17 if that. What really amazed me is that after all this time, and supposed surgery to rid herself of that time, Amy would go on an entertainment talk show. Am I the only one who thinks that’s nuts? I thought the whole mess was sick at the time, and to bring it up now just insane.Just yesterday, a friend of mine at another forum posted about a known child molester who tried to sign a 14 year old out of school [and she tried to get out]. they surmise she met him on My Space — a warning to moms and dads - KNOW who your kids are talking to!imho, showing Amy Fisher all grown up and married with children gives this type of girl needless encouragement.

# 164 | Original Curious i was thinking the same thing. why go through all the trouble of plastic surgery and changing your name only to expose yourself on national television again so that people will recognize you. obviously, she’s still not playing with a full deck. or, she’s desperate for attention.

Here we go @ 04/27/2006 at 10:36 pm

MashaALLAH, what a smart woman.MashaALLAH.

# 42 | African Girl"Thank Your Jared (still unto you. Sherlock and Watson on duty)"That’s all well and good but we’re not going to get any further if we don’t have more to work with. Did you bring your magnifying glass? Your latex gloves? The ultraviolet light detector? And oh yeah, the lumpias? Do you mind picking up some barbeque potato chips for me? Detective work is famishing! Since you’re running to the grocery store anyway, you wouldn’t mind buying everything on my shopping list, would you? I’m a firm believer of combining errands. Don’t worry I won’t ask you to pick up my dry cleaning. ;)# 45 | alysHey alys, I’ve known you and you’re a fair Jen fan. Remember I even defended your reported opinion of your friend’s Paris sighting about Brad in person? I’m glad to see you more complimentary about Angie now. How can anyone not? Contrary to all the haters with their premature dire criticisms about her not carrying enough weight, exposing herself to diseases and a host of other alarmist nonsense, she’s healthy and radiant (a condition I’ve always thought was pure hyperbolic myth). # 89 | Moi JadeYou’re in good form, Moi Jade!! Only thing is I’m a bit possessive of AKIMBO. It’s a great word, but if it’s used too much it’ll diminish its secretive purpose. Please be judicious. I have to restrain myself from making it too common. ;) # 115 | Torn Maybe you should understand that legally Brad and Jen were not a functioning married couple; and socially, even before the divorce was filed. Does a real marriage involve spouses divesting themselves of each other? Divesting emotionally and divesting physically? That marriage was O-V-E-R long before January 7th when they legally separated. As such, either could find more compatible partners to be in simpatico with. # 140 | lylian To add to your info about the difficulties in finding cures, as with the case of AIDS, the virus mutates so easily and quickly to that new cocktail of drugs must be given to contain it. Diseases are always one step of our medical technology and research. We may learn of where certain diseases reside specifically in the gene sequence, but that still isn’t a cure. # 156 | mickey Considering the States is the one with the deep pockets and still the superpower of the world, I think writing to your congresspeople is the most influential action you can do. Everyone who is interested in world and national affairs should be aware of your Congressional representatives and senators and their snail-mail and email addresses. And make them your constant contacts. Spread the word, as well, since there is power in numbers. # 164 | Original CuriousFame is addictive. And in Amy Fisher’s case, even INFAMY is addictive. (I believe she might have been even younger than 17 when Joey Butt was having statutory rape relationships with her, possibly 14.)

# 166 | Here we go | Masallah, I agree, but now we have to say Inshallah for a very healty baby. Which country BTW, I’m originally from Turkey. You know I haven’t been logging on or posting alot lately, but I don’t remember seeing your screen name. If you are fairly new welcome to JJ’s mini UN from all over the world who loves the BAMZ family. If you have been around and I didn’t notice it sorry, nice to meet you, hi there :)

(sorry for that glitch),The "marital partnership" ends officially on October 2, six months after Aniston served divorce papers."President Bush congratulated jpf today and Tom Snow personally thanked her in his first public appearence as Bush’s WHite House spokesman.Rumors are also circulating jpf could be replacing Condalizza Rice as Secretary of the Interior.Speaking of Jennifer Aniston:Jen had a quiet yet somber day here in NYC, not leaving her hotel on Park Avenue for a stroll in Central Park till 7-am. It was rumored the Paparazzi were hiding out along the city streets disguised as trash cans and lamp posts,hoping to get a shot of the confused actress. After news broke late last night,(thanks to ANON) Anniston was told she would not be performing her solo singing debut "We Are the World" to the expected millions come May. Anniston was seen walking down the streets of New York City with a diaper bag on her head in hopes of avoiding the paparazzi. Unfortunately for Anniston, there was no paparazzi, only a few homeless people with signs that read " Help! I need money to buy a shower gift for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt" The door man from her undisclosed hotel refused to comment. Wishing everyone a good nights rest!This is Moi Jade reporting from JJPBS in NYC.

Love Angelina. She Radiates beauty.

This is a long post. Skip it if you don’t want to read my opinions on press freedom. I’ve pasted an article about AJ and BP’s bodyguards and Namibian police with accusations of inappropriate behaviour towards the journalists.I must admit that I’m concerned after reading this report as it sets an unwelcomed precedent for restricting press freedom in Namibia. The line between privacy and legitimate reporting is more grey and fuzzy then a hard black line. I think most people would agree that it is an invasion of privacy to trespass on someone’s private property to take a photo. It is also a trespass of privacy to me, if someone uses a powerful telephoto lens, standing on public grounds, to take photos someone else in private property. But having said that, if someone wanks from the balcony of his apartment for all to see with their naked eyes, then that someone has committed an act of public indecency as far as I’m concerned even if he was standing in his own home. Similarly, the local news reporter should be allowed to hang around the public street if there are no laws against it in Namibia and provided she doesnt try to use powerful photo lens or climb walls or fences to take a photo. Door to door hunting of local Namibian journalists should not be allowed. Bottom line, local Namibian journalists should get total protection afforded by their laws. Foreign paps and journalists. Well, this is a difficult one. I certainly value the brave journalists who go in disguise or undercover to places and report on abuses and occuring in countries where there is no free press at all. This is happening right here in my back yard - people reporting on Irian Jaya and for years, brave journalists slipping in to report on East Timur. It takes guts and more. Because the environment does not support a free press, the local reporters dare not write anything about these abuses for fear of drastic reprisals.Back to namibia however, foreign paps are asked to get out of the country because they do not have a legitimate work permit. My worry is that one day legitimate foreign journalists will want to report about namibia and be deported too. This is not good for press freedom in Namibia. I don’t know Brad and Angelina personally, but from all that I’ve read about them, I’m sure they do not intend to start muzzling legitimate media in Namibia - only the paps. However, if the news reported in the article below is true then I hope they address the over reaction by the security personnel soon. If they have to err, then they should err on the side of safeguarding press freedom. I fully believe its difficult for them to live with this level of public scrutiny into their personal lives for more then 16 months. Here is the article. Jolie guards criticisedThursday Apr 27 08:09 AESTA Namibian human rights group on Wednesday accused bodyguards and local police of resorting to "heavy-handed tactics" to keep the paparazzi away from movie stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.Jolie, who is eight months pregnant and is expected to give birth in Namibia, arrived with Pitt in the southern African country in early April. She has been welcomed by the government which has asked the press to respect the couple’s privacy during their stay near the west coast town of Swakopmund.But the National Society of Human Rights (NSHR) said in a statement that "both the three-member private security personnel of Jolie and Pitt and Namibia police members have conducted unwarranted door-to-door searches of the homes of local residents for paparazzi and other media workers.""We condemn the heavy-handed and brutal tactics selectively directed against local and certain foreign journalists," the NSHR said in a statement, issued in Windhoek.Local newspaper journalist Donna Collins told AFP that she saw police carry out the searches of homes late last week near the Langstrand beach resort on Namibia’s west coast where the Hollywood couple are staying.The "house-to-house searches and hunting down journalists as if they are criminals is unacceptable," Collins said.She said that she had been "chased away" by security guards and nearly had her camera ripped from her neck when she was on a nearby beach.Namibian police denied that local residents and the press had been harassed."No cameras were seized and no reporters have been brutalised," police spokesman Hieronymus Goraseb told AFP.The Namibian government Monday vowed to protect Jolie and Pitt’s privacy after the glamorous couple released a statement asking the press to leave them alone.Namibia over the weekend ordered three French paparazzi and a South African photographer to leave the country for trying to snap Jolie.A local tour operator told AFP that Jolie this week was taken to the nearby sand dunes of the Namib desert were a United Nations crew filmed a documentary on her and her work as a goodwill ambassador for the children’s organisation UNICEF.Speaking in a telephone news conference to promote the Global Campaign for Education, of which she is the honorary chair, Jolie said she preferred not to talk about her child at the moment.She spoke about travelling to various parts of the world including Namibia. "I feel very lucky to be able to come to these countries and I have learnt a lot," she said."I want my children to learn the same and to grow up in the world as it really is, not just in a small corner that does not represent the entire globe.""That’s why we travel so much," said Jolie.Jolie said she understood that she was a "public person" and did what she could to promote causes as a celebrity."I hope it never impacts in a negative way and if I thought it might, I would remove myself from that situation, because I would never want to do that," she said.

Are you lonely? Friendless? Got no job and no money? Can’t sleep? Do you have nothing better to do than study celebrities you "hate" and antagonize their fans? Then Professional Trolling is for you! Just follow these simple guidelines:1) Monitor celebrity gossip sites for the latest pictures and posts–fans will flock to these threads and it’s here that your fun can begin!2) Make a comment expressing your negative feelings–you’ll have dozens of responses in no time.3) Don’t bother with spelling.4) Make prolific use of name-calling and four-letter words to demonstrate how mature, morally superior and intelligent you are.5) Accuse fans who retaliate of being idol worshippers, uneducated sheep, and if that doesn’t work, comment on their hygiene. Use words like pathetic, fat, ugly–it doesn’t matter that you don’t know anything about them.6) Always make sure you sound like 14-year old.7) Wish death to the celebrity and their family and friends.8) Wish death to the celebrity’s fans.9) Always respond as if you are winning the argument.10) Remember, the purpose of trolling is to get as many angry responses as possible. Not only are you fulfilling your higher purpose on earth, you are showing the depths of hypocrisy, humanity at its worst and proving to the world that your life is empty, soulless, and you are so desperately in need of human attention that you’ll do absolutely anything to get it.this message brought to you by the advice of Original Curious…
