When Babel, the latest offering from Alejandro González Iñárritu, premieres at the Cannes Film Festival this month, it will be a remarkable moment for Mexican cinema. Before 2000, when the director’s debut, Amores Perros, took Cannes by storm, Mexican films were rarely seen by international audiences. This year, one of Babel ’s main competitors for the Palme d’Or will be Pan’s Labyrinth, by González Iñárritu’s compatriot Guillermo del Toro. That two Mexican films are competing for the most prestigious prize in world cinema is a measure of how far the Mexican industry has come in the past six years.

Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu’s drama Babel, starring Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett and Gael Garcia Bernal, is currently scheduled to show at Cannes on Tuesday, May 23 and open in limited release on Friday, October 6. Maybe that’s what Spade was getting at, that expectations of men are so low there’s no point in assigning any blame to Sambora for his part as the straddlee. He was just stolen.Perhaps Richards may win the 2006 Husband Theft of the Year Award, because 2005 belongs to Angelina Jolie. Notice, though, that gums weren’t a-flappin’ about how Jolie betrayed Jennifer Aniston, who was Brad Pitt’s inconvenient wife. Jolie and Aniston were never friends, as Locklear and Richards were. And then there’s the humanitarian aspect of Jolie’s work. It’s hard to hate a lying adulteress when she seems so dedicated to bettering the Third World and is about to give birth to Pitt’s baby. The images of Jolie’s chaste play dates with Pitt and her son, Maddox, don’t compare to those of Richards and Sambora getting physical. There’s no doubt Richards’ image has taken a huge hit. Her nasty divorce from Sheen had the public seeing her as a victim — a sweet hottie who had put her faith into the bag of damaged goods that is Sheen. Then she went and did the dirty on Locklear by hooking up with Sambora. Worse yet, photos taken of Locklear in the days following the revelation of the Richards/Sambora affair show a shocked, wounded version of the usually bubbly blonde, gazing onto the world through the sad eyes of a wronged woman.Who could blame her? A friend break-up, especially when piled atop deception and divorce, is a lot to swallow. It’s no wonder Locklear reportedly told Richards, "You no longer exist to me. It’s like you’ve died."But I doubt this situation would be easier if Locklear and Richards were men. Good friends of either sex are hard to find

I liked Chasing Angelina tonight. It wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be. I’ve seen other documentaries about the paparazzi and they were much worse. Too much about Rosie O’Donnell though. Brad the Cad-You do not like Angie do you? Brad is in Angie’s life forever, he is the father of the child she is carrying and will be the legal father of her other two children as soon as the required 180+ days(minimum) required by Cal law for adoptions is met. Clearly she loves this man, she would not be pregnant by Brad, or giving him equal rights over Mad and Z if she did not wholeheartedly believe that Brad is the ONE for her. You are advocating that Angie, who seems to be the happiest she has ever been, is to "dump" this person for whom she has made every accomodation/life change possible to have in her life. Why would you want her to do this? What has Brad done in your opinion that makes him a cad? He appears to be as totally devoted to Angie and the kids as Angie is totally devoted to him. He has changed his life in every way possible to accomodate Angie and the kids and to make them and this relationship the most important part of his life. He has ignored all the many idiots that call him "whipped" and "Angie’s little pull toy" and that "being with Angie will hurt his career". Brad and Angie have undertaken all means necessary to ensure that they are very rarely apart, even when she was filming in New York and he was in Canada. They have both been through hell because they are together, and if anything, the bond between them appears to be stronger for all the abuse heaped on them. Brad respects and supports Angie’s interests and she supports and respects Brad’s interests. Are these the actions of a cad(by the way what is your definition of a cad)? So why label Brad a cad? What about the strong bonds that Mad and Z have formed with Brad? Do you think that Mad at almost five will just forget Brad, the only Daddy he has ever had? Have you not seen how happy Mad is with his Dad? But if you don’t care for Angie of course you don’t care about the children, do you? Accept reality-Angie wants Brad in her life and in the childrens’s lives because she loves him and he makes her happy.
