Babel Movie

When Babel, the latest offering from Alejandro González Iñárritu, premieres at the Cannes Film Festival this month, it will be a remarkable moment for Mexican cinema. Before 2000, when the director’s debut, Amores Perros, took Cannes by storm, Mexican films were rarely seen by international audiences. This year, one of Babel ’s main competitors for the Palme d’Or will be Pan’s Labyrinth, by González Iñárritu’s compatriot Guillermo del Toro. That two Mexican films are competing for the most prestigious prize in world cinema is a measure of how far the Mexican industry has come in the past six years.

New Babel stills! Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu’s drama Babel, starring Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett and Gael Garcia Bernal, is currently scheduled to show at Cannes on Tuesday, May 23 and open in limited release on Friday, October 6.  Below is an Entertainment Tonight clip, which contains an intense scene from Babel featuring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett.  More pictures in the gallery!

thanks Fundidor, i will.

Okay, let’s try this again, shall we? # 455 | AddictedtoBAMZ+1"I guess you are saying as nicely as possible that I over-reacted." No, I was neither implying nor alluding that you over-reacted. I know others didn’t agree with the winning choices either. As I’ve noted, I thought the winning entries basically blew. Well, they weren’t aesthetically beautiful but I would be hard-pressed to find the most beautiful when I’m not much of a fan of poems. Is Jared? I don’t know. Though the winning poem isn’t necessarily my type of humor, I can see why Jared may have been impressed with the integration of both Britney’s and Kevin’s song titles. Instead, I was trying to refocus what was important: that you all had fun with writing up your poems. I think Jared is one of the few gossip blog sites that actually run contests and actually gives freebies away. Normally, I love freebies just as much as the next person but not enough to compromise my privacy. Also, I was trying to suggest that instead of having someone else do something nice for you, treat yourself well first. Go to Safeway and buy a pint of strawberries and a package of chocolate chips (Guittard is my favorite brand). Melt the chocolate and make your own chocolate-covered or dipped strawberries. And buy yourself a beautiful bouquet. Or better yet, plant your own roses in the backyard. It’s divine to spend time in my backyard among my roses and creeping thyme pathway emitting its lemony scent. Pamper yourself! I think that was all I had though I may have left some words out. Regardless, again, I’m glad to see you back on the boards. But since you’ve posted the APB for me, where are YOU?Hope you have a wonderful Memorial weekend! Seriously, go make yourself some chocolate-covered strawberries. See you on Tuesday - baby JP arriving or not.

HI Cindy2, Here I am! Glad you gave me a head’s up on the new thread, because I seldom make it back to check on the older ones any more. The time needed is unimaginable now. So many messages, so many pages. What does everyone else do? Do you manage to catch up eventually? Just a few months ago it was possible to read everything, resond, stay caught up, etc. These days, if you start reading at #1 and find you would like to respond, your response will be separated by hundreds of others. Somehow that loses it’s impact. The only way is to be lucky enough to be "on" when those you would respond to are also. I see a whole new group of names now, many in touch repeatedly, while others (like me) are going to eventually fall by the wayside without the ability to jump in and take part in the frey. I think time of day matters. If you tend to log on at the same time each day/night and others do the same, you can interact. But as interesting as it is to just read(lurk?) the real cool thing about blogging is talking back. Also, I have never seen another Rica fanfic since she left for the wedding. I see references once in a while to new posts from Rica, but haven’t been able to recall how to get to the thread they originated on. Hope we cross each other again, and thank you for the wise advise over my poetry crack up. Life’s too short to stay mad at Jared, anyway… Are you writing a book?
