Photogs’ appetites whetted: ‘Most anticipated baby since Jesus‘
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have an entire government on their side in the latest celebrity vs. paparazzi skirmish as they await the birth of their child in seclusion at a resort in Namibia.
The Namibian Embassy in Pretoria tells journalists seeking visas for Namibia to cover the birth of the eagerly awaited celebrity baby that they must have permission from Pitt and Jolie in writing before they will be allowed into the country.
The government, which has seen its profile as a tourist destination increased by the celebrity visit, has arrested photographers, confiscated film, set up large green barriers on the beach to shield the couple and their children Zahara and Maddox, ringed the hotel with heavy security and threatened to expel any journalist trying to cover the birth without the parents’ permission.
"This lady is expecting," Namibian Prime Minister Nahas Angula was quoted as telling South Africa’s Sunday Times last month. "You guys are harassing her. Why don’t you allow her some privacy? Harassment is not allowed in Namibia."

Interest has heightened in recent weeks as photographers anticipated the due date was near. It escalated Tuesday when an e-mail Pitt sent to the Cannes Film Festival and read to reporters there said he was unable to attend because of the baby’s "imminent arrival."
Darryn Lyons, the chairman of Big Pictures, which runs Mr. Paparazzi.com, said in London that the two stars are certain to gain more attention by taking up residence in a poor corner of Africa then they would in the United States.
"I don’t think they could have given the people more of an appetite to see the new creature," said Lyons, referring to the decision to hole up in Namibia. "It is the most anticipated baby since Jesus Christ."
"They would have been more discreet sitting in Malibu," he said. "I don’t know why they’re going to all this ridiculous trouble."
Before Pitt and Jolie took up residence at a luxury hotel on the Namibian coast, the government never required that journalists get permission from private citizens — foreign or otherwise — to obtain a visa.
John Liebengerg, a South African magazine photographer, was arrested Wednesday for a second time in less than a week for trying to take pictures of the couple at a restaurant.
The arrest was condemned by the South African National Editors Forum.
"The forum believes citizens have a right to privacy, however journalists also have a right to be able to do their jobs without unfair hindrance or intimidation," the forum said in a statement.
South Africa’s Sunday Times said last month its own photographer and three French photographers were ordered to leave Namibia or face arrest.
Lyons said he has a team in place in Namibia, but that none of his photographers have been arrested. He added someone — perhaps even the midwife — with a small camera or one built into their mobile phone stood to make a lot of money.
"You could probably buy Namibia with that picture," he said, estimating the first picture of Pitt and Jolie’s baby would be worth $5 million.
Namibia, a country half the size of Alaska, is rich in diamonds and strategic metals, but most of its 1.8 million people are poor. – AP

You notice from what JJ posted, and from news reports around the world, the only people complaining about the security are the paparazzi and news outlets who want to cover them? loll And to plant the idea of someone intimate with them — "a midwife, perhaps with a cell phone" — to get the pic for them with the bribe of "they could make a lot of money) is despicable.

I saw the daily 10 show on E! also. it was their lead story. They said word on the street is that the golden child has arrived. A baby girl last night. BUT they also said that the reps are denying it. What do you BAMZ+1 fans think? Would the reps deny if it was true?

Her fans more than anything have turned me off! They are maniacal, and cannot have a discussion with differing viewpoints with any sense of courtesy or use of facts. I keep wondering what her thread would look like without BAMZ fans on there, or her own fans trashing Angelina. It would be empty. I used to exhort her fans to talk about her virtues, convince me to like her, tell me WHY they find her so interesting. If you said that to a BAMZ fan, they would have pages of things to say! But JA fans would just get angry and start spewing anti-Angie crap, or shout in caps how Jen has friends!! Oh, okay, and she breathes, and smiles, and waves, and eats toast and brushes her hair and walks and talks — okay, still not getting why you all are fans of hers! I’ve given up trying. The only intelligent thing anyone ever said about her was that she had a painting in a museum at age 12 — and THAT was posted by a BAMZ fan also trying to get the fans to say something good about her besides "she is pretty and nice". GuliHey…you know it’s getting a bit tiring trying to load the threads with more pages. I’ve got two browsers open and I think that’s even slowing it down. I called my brother and he said I should bring it over to his place tommorow….hopefully he can do something..No he better do something but first I have to save all the pics and delete them from my hard drive. If he finds out there’s a possibility BP and AJ have something to do with my slow comp….I’m not gonna get any help fom him, that’s for sure. He thinks I’m obsessed…I don’t how he came to that conclusion..lol. Anyway, I’m just going to play nice so he fixes it, can’t afford to be handicapped when the baby get here.Ahhhh! Would the reps deny if it was true? # 134 | Ivy++++++++++++Somebody has reported that baby being born every day for the last 3 weeks. I’ll believe it when Cindy Gaugenti is quoted as saying it or it’s from a legitimate news source - AP, Reuters, Knight-Ridder, ABC, NBC, CBS, etc, says it.
Well, if it’s true, it would explain how the news leaked out. If she were just with a few people holed up at the resort, there is less chance of learning anything. But the more people who know, from the receptionist at the hospital to the nurses and "local doctors", the more chance someone will say something to someone who will tip off the tabs and the paps.

# 143 | Alexanderina In Touch, huh? I’ll keep the source in mind. They’re not nearly as inventive as the Star, so this bland "minor complication" that they mention is about what I’d expect from them. At least with the Star they’d give you some drama about what the complications is….like Angie’s afraid her hips will spread too far and she’ll have saddle-bag thighs for the rest of her life. InTouch has no flair for the dramatic whatsoever.
