Photogs’ appetites whetted: ‘Most anticipated baby since Jesus‘
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have an entire government on their side in the latest celebrity vs. paparazzi skirmish as they await the birth of their child in seclusion at a resort in Namibia.
The Namibian Embassy in Pretoria tells journalists seeking visas for Namibia to cover the birth of the eagerly awaited celebrity baby that they must have permission from Pitt and Jolie in writing before they will be allowed into the country.
The government, which has seen its profile as a tourist destination increased by the celebrity visit, has arrested photographers, confiscated film, set up large green barriers on the beach to shield the couple and their children Zahara and Maddox, ringed the hotel with heavy security and threatened to expel any journalist trying to cover the birth without the parents’ permission.
"This lady is expecting," Namibian Prime Minister Nahas Angula was quoted as telling South Africa’s Sunday Times last month. "You guys are harassing her. Why don’t you allow her some privacy? Harassment is not allowed in Namibia."

Interest has heightened in recent weeks as photographers anticipated the due date was near. It escalated Tuesday when an e-mail Pitt sent to the Cannes Film Festival and read to reporters there said he was unable to attend because of the baby’s "imminent arrival."
Darryn Lyons, the chairman of Big Pictures, which runs Mr. Paparazzi.com, said in London that the two stars are certain to gain more attention by taking up residence in a poor corner of Africa then they would in the United States.
"I don’t think they could have given the people more of an appetite to see the new creature," said Lyons, referring to the decision to hole up in Namibia. "It is the most anticipated baby since Jesus Christ."
"They would have been more discreet sitting in Malibu," he said. "I don’t know why they’re going to all this ridiculous trouble."
Before Pitt and Jolie took up residence at a luxury hotel on the Namibian coast, the government never required that journalists get permission from private citizens — foreign or otherwise — to obtain a visa.
John Liebengerg, a South African magazine photographer, was arrested Wednesday for a second time in less than a week for trying to take pictures of the couple at a restaurant.
The arrest was condemned by the South African National Editors Forum.
"The forum believes citizens have a right to privacy, however journalists also have a right to be able to do their jobs without unfair hindrance or intimidation," the forum said in a statement.
South Africa’s Sunday Times said last month its own photographer and three French photographers were ordered to leave Namibia or face arrest.
Lyons said he has a team in place in Namibia, but that none of his photographers have been arrested. He added someone — perhaps even the midwife — with a small camera or one built into their mobile phone stood to make a lot of money.
"You could probably buy Namibia with that picture," he said, estimating the first picture of Pitt and Jolie’s baby would be worth $5 million.
Namibia, a country half the size of Alaska, is rich in diamonds and strategic metals, but most of its 1.8 million people are poor. – AP

okay. too funny. the local news here just did a spot on angie and brad’s donation to namibian hospitals. one of the reporters said about their $315,000 gift, "how much do they make per film, like $20 million? that’s chump change to them!" i almost started to get pissed when my parents who are with me today both yell at the screen, "yeah, i wonder how much you gave?" # 2156 | gitane——————-$315,000 is a lot of money to a third world country such as Namibia. I remember Angie saying in one of her interviews that the cost of a car in LA can build a school house in a poor country.

I can’t think either but at the time, the Russell Crowe/Meg Ryan/Dennis Quaid affair rippled in the industry. Meg being the reigning "America’s Sweetheart" got ripped in the media and has not really recovered. I consider Meg at the tme to be bigger than X is now. Good night all. When Jen was asked about kissing Vince in the movie she said there was no kissing, just two people yelling at each other. According to reports they showed several pictures of them together without showing how they connected in the movie. That is why they said that audience looking out for chemistry will get none.

You know the one I mean–where she has the long pretty silky dress on–and I think Brad’s in leather–and they are waving to all the photographers. I love how they SCRUPULOUSLY avoid looking at each other. Does anybody know if that’s from ShoWest, with all the theater owners? And when was that approximately? JA had filed for divorce by then, right? Sorry, I know I should know this! Was it before they got together? I ask because I’ve seen the clip about 10 times lately and there is definite sexual tension there.

The union of Brad and Angie has made very good money for the media because people are interested in them. I don’t think people were really aware of how much Angie has done as a UN ambassador and how well connected she is outside of America because of her kindness and givings. Ameicans were still holding on to the old Angie. As they started follow her around the globe they started to realize how powerful Angie is. I mean this woman is with Presidents, Congressmen, U.N. big wigs etc. The only way America had to attach themselves to what was and is still unfolding is to keep writing and talking about Brangelina whether good or bad to be part of the action. Imagine that everyone that mentioned them today has been discussed in this forum.
AJ will be fine. Hollywood is well aware of her past (cutting, drug use, sexual experimentation, etc.) and she is still an A-list actress, has product endorsements, and is an official spokesperson for the UN. She is going to have to do something a little more "shocking" than having a child with a divorced man to sabotage her career. A career that is probably less important to her now than ever before.

We can say if you like anyone of these celebs then don’t start talking bad about Brad and Angie. We can say if you’re going to go after one couple then go after and talk crap about these celebs too. I don’t care what anyone says that money BAMZS donated to the hospital was not just to buy off government protection, or a better hospital stay. That’s just sick to think that.
A lot of people said jokes and made nasty remarks about Bill Clinton doing the Monica scandal. Also alot of Washington people did not want be consider his friends. However Bill Clinton is one of the most popular public speakers now (get paid in the millions to speak) and has a higher popular poll than George Bush. Those news people who made nasty remarks now want him on their show. He has lots of people who want to stand next to him. This man was impeach but he is back on top. I would not worry about Brad and Angie. As long as Brad and Angie keep doing good work they will be fine.

#2189 Jen filed for divorce that same weekend, it was about 3+ months after their separation.
I have been lurking but I have a question regarding the W magazine photshoot. When was it planned? And when was the actual photoshoot and when did the magazine come out? X fans said it was cold of them to do that but I always thought that the photoshoot was planned before the divorce was filed. I thought the issue came out after the divorce was filed but the pictures were taken way before? Anyone know?
