Given Vince Vaughn’s recent success with landing punch lines, there was considerable hope that if anybody could inject a little zip into the stagnating romcom, he’d be the guy to pull it off.
And he still might — one of these days.
In the meantime, there’s "The Break-Up," a major disappointment of an anti-romantic comedy for which Vaughn shares producer and story credits in addition to sharing the screen with real-life squeeze Jennifer Aniston.
Bottom Line: Don’t Believe The Hype
That’s one big OUCH from The Hollywood Reporter! BURNED. Will fans flock to theaters for The Break-Up anyway for the former Friends star? #120 rememberI was referring to film, not TV roles. Except for the Golden Globe for the TV role of George Wallace’s wife. Still, from beginning of Angie’s career to Oscar was five years. Thirteen years later we still have Jen trying to make a hit.As for Brad, yes there were TV roles, and just like with Jen, I left off the roles where he was a walk-on, not speaking parts or just one-liners. His first role in a movie was Thelma and Louise.And why the hysteria? If this is how you react when talking about actors, how do you handle normal life problems? Get a grip!
In friends JA was only one of 6 actors who had to keep the laughs going for about 20 minutes (if you take out the commercial time. So do the math, each of the "friends" only had to carry the show for 3 onscreen minutes. I would argue that Matt LeBlanc generated twice the number of laughs compared to the others, bringing JA and the rest down to about 2.5 minutes each. So why the hell would anyone think JA can carry a 2 hour film without commercial breaks as a lead actor who is probably onscreen 90% of the time.

The reason for the backlash against “America’s sweetheart” is that she lied. If she was honest and truthful, then why didn’t she admit like any grown woman that she was partially responsible for their problems? I still say she/PR has greatly overestimated her fan base and Angies’ as well. She thought Brad fans would stay with her as the “wronged woman” but instead a lot of us (myself included) just waited and waited. Brad was always clear about wanting a family. Jen did have and does have a choice not to want children but she should have been honest with him up front or early on so he could have moved on. Talk about fraud in divorces..Every thing seems to have worked out for the best. Brad has his family and Jen has her movies and her funny big guy..somehow I couldn’t picture Brad at his age and career hanging around miserable looking Courtney and her goof ball husband David. Lets approach the question of JA’s talent (or lack of) a little more rationally. Friends was 20 minutes onscreen (taking out commercial time). Six actors shared the time equally, so each of them only had to "carry" the show for about 3.3 minutes. This is even generous, as it leaves no time for guest stars. If you study "Friends", you will see that most of the time all JA do is stand with the crowd with her arms crossed listening to the other characters. So, why does anyone think that JA can carry a 2 hour film as a lead actor who is onscreen 90% of the time. She is famous for one thing….being married to Brad Pitt…if not for that she would be in the same carrer oblivion as the rest of her Friends castmates.
