Given Vince Vaughn’s recent success with landing punch lines, there was considerable hope that if anybody could inject a little zip into the stagnating romcom, he’d be the guy to pull it off.
And he still might — one of these days.
In the meantime, there’s "The Break-Up," a major disappointment of an anti-romantic comedy for which Vaughn shares producer and story credits in addition to sharing the screen with real-life squeeze Jennifer Aniston.
Bottom Line: Don’t Believe The Hype
That’s one big OUCH from The Hollywood Reporter! BURNED. Will fans flock to theaters for The Break-Up anyway for the former Friends star? #155 Can you lower the volume at all? Anyway, you notice those roles are all different? All of JA’s roles have been the same and in all romantic comedies. All those movies that ANgie is in, she is reviewed as the best thing in it. When JA is in a movie, she gets scathing reviews. Angie elevates movies, JA tears them down, which is why Angie is considered a top Hollywood actress and is offered serious roles, not romantic comedy fluff, and she’s much younger. At age 26 and 28, she was playing tough cops opposite Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, and at that age Jen was still tossing her hair on Friends. Really, you shouldn’t even try to compare the two in acting, you’ll only embarrass yourself as well as Jen, you might LIKE Jen more, but for God’s sake, get real when it comes to how their acting is perceived by those who know — the industry, directors, co-stars, the awards shows (and please remember she got her first award for playing George Wallace’s wife, not Gia), and yes, even the box office. Besides, WHY SO OBSESSED WITH AJ??? Isn’t this a thread about your favorite girl? Why even mention AJ? Is it because Jen means nothing except in comparison to someone or something else? Is she that bland, even to you? Aren’t you able to talk about her without talking about her ex or his new partner?

Jen Aniston looks great–and she will survive with out without Brad. This is no worse than the bad reviews that Julia Roberts got for her recent broadway performance. I predict there will be some GOOD reviews as well. Brangelina fans are just trying to rain on her parade at the first op–so just back off and see how it shakes out. Meantime you can go rent Tomb Raider or Alexander or some crap like that again to entertain yourselves..
