OlderJennifer Aniston Buys Tracie Martyn
Tomorrow is shaping up as a pivotal day in Jennifer Aniston’s movie career. If you don’t already know, she’s opening in "The Break-Up" with unofficial real-life boyfriend Vince Vaughn. The reviews are scathing; the movie is said to be terrible. If Aniston’s built-in audience doesn’t show up tomorrow night, there’s going to be trouble.
According to the Internet Movie Database, Aniston has a couple more comedies and a thriller on the horizon. Unfortunately, the material doesn’t look terrific and except for George Hickenlooper, the directors attached to the projects aren’t very promising.
It’s hard to say what’s gone wrong here: in person Aniston is a friendly, generous soul who so far has not played the diva card. She’s accessible and amiable.
If "The Break-Up" is really as shrill and annoying as the advance notices indicate, Aniston may really have trouble attracting audiences in the future. She really should take a page from the playbooks of Goldie Hawn and other actresses who needed custom-made material to get out of ruts. And fast!

wtf… basically Aniston has an excuse for everything where everyone else takes the blame… whatever… wasn’t she straddling VV on an open balcony baiting paparazzi who does that. now she’s shielding her face in those pictures… she’s like fourty… bottomline she should act more mature than she is… but she’s trying to be a big Hollywood Star… well… that’s why it’s Hollywood… people like her usually don’t make it big.

I loved Jennifer Before Brad, during Brad, and now after Brad. Her movies tank, yes I agree, but besides the acting, her image and the bad press were a huge affect on the films. And AJ haters, SHUT THE FU@& UP! Why do you have to use an AJ insult as your defense? I never liked AJ’s movies, honestly, they sucked. I actually liked Mr. and Mrs. Smith, not because of the hype but because I liked the romance and action combination. But still, I never liked AJ until her humanitarian efforts were plastered all over the media. Brad is ok, he really was hotter before AJ BUT he does look happier/normal with AJ. In the end, I will still watch this movies because it really does look funny and VV has always been a favorite of mine and will continue to be with or without JA. BAMZS obsessors and AJ haters piss me off. You guys are ruining the boards on JJ. You guys make Perezhilton.com look wholesome.

Fortunately, everything goes with black. Not a put down to the kids cause I feel sorry for them, just the way the poser appears. Monica, it is all a show until the PR for the movie ends. Then it the break up stories will start, although they haven’t been together for awhile.

I think Vince Vaughn will be the only saving grace of this film. If this movie has a reasonable box-office return it will be because people want to see him, not JA. I have a feeling the people going to see the supposed "chemistry" between Vince and Jen will be highly, highly disappointed. I’m sorry but those two do NOT look good together, onscreen or off. He’s like the laid back sweats and baseball cap guy while she’s wearing a ******* cocktail dress in every scene, perfectly tanned and leathery, hair perfectly coiffed and framing her face just so. And is it me or does she seem very stoic in her scenes? Jenjen is upstaged in every movie she’s been in, her acting just doesn’t hold up. And I think Rachel Greene was the most boring Friend.

I’ve nothing against JA, but the truth is she is just an okay actress. She doesn’t have what it takes to carry a film and there is nothing wrong with that in itself. She is, however, being paid to carry these films and due to a lack of talent and poor script choices on her part, she is unable to do so. There is a reason Kidman, Berry, Jolie, Theron etc., have won Oscars–they have shown they can transcend who they are to BE a character that they are playing. Aniston is always herself. Kinda like Tom Cruise. When was the last time you went to a Cruise movie and came away forgetting you saw Cruise and instead saw the character he was playing. Good and great actors/actresses are able to make you forget who you are watching. Jen has been unable to do that. There is nothing wrong with being a TV actor, maybe it won’t win you an Oscar, but who cares (obviously Jen). There is nothing wrong with taking a supporting role as Jolie did in Girl Interrupted (got her the Oscar). If Jen is going to transfer her minor talents to the big screen she needs to more carefully choose her vehicles. Kidman takes risks–sometimes she gets slammed over them as with Stepford Wives and Bewitched, but other times she wins as with Moulin Rouge and the Hours. Jolie, Theron, Blanchett, Watts–they all take risks which develops their skill and brings them other parts that showcase their talents. Jen poorly chooses her scripts. She needs someone to do a makeover on her. Marilyn Monroe was not that talented, but she knew how to work her limited abilites. Jen does not. She has stated that she doesn’t want to go back to TV, doesn’t want to do a sequel to friends, charity work isn’t her thing, she is almost 40 so kids may not be in the picture, so what is she left with? A diminishing film career. Consistent bad reviews. Soon, she won’t have a lot of options left if she wants to stay in the major motion picture industry. Folks are only going to want to pay her 7 figure salaries if she is producing. Watch her pictures next to a really great actresses–like Hepburn or Streep. The difference in the acting skill level is incredible. She has fans, but she does not have that extra special something that reaches out and says "WATCH ME" - PAY TO WATCH ME!
ok, NOW I GOTTA SAY SOMETHING!i saw the SCREENING of this film and can’t imagine why the critics would PAN it. ??!! two of the WORLD’S most notable and comedically gifted actors play side by side — they look incredible on screen and they have incredible chemistry together. it’s a “date movie” that taps into the emotions of any of us who live in the "dating" world… as a casting director, i would give the film a B, since some of the supporting roles could have been amplified to complement Vaughn and Aniston’s screen presence, but if you enjoyed "Wedding Crashers" and “Friends,” you’ll get to see Vaughn and Aniston, who are not afraid to look like the average person, make you laugh and perhaps see some human relationship behavior from the outside. i would totally recommend the film! the audience i was amongst was laughing throughout!

Jennifer in two years will either be back of TV or she will married to a guy who can get movies made. She is just an OK actress. She is now 37 even though she looks younger it does not matter .Leading men are not going to want to work with a 40 year old so so actress.BTW how many times does she touch her hair in TBU. I heard there are college students that watch her DVD and drink each time she touches her hair.

The success with these movie reviews lies more with Vince than with JA. He co-produced and wrote the script. The bad reviews are about the script, flow and overall aura, not with JA’s acting.I like Vince and will see the film becuase he is great and I want him to succeed. Why are AJ fans still so obsessed with JA? Get a grip and let go of your obsessions and live your life as if she did not exist! See the film if you want coz Vince Vaughn is great.
# 66 I agree wholeheartedly. This site is notorious for being "owned by the Brangelina crowd" …. you know "Team Jolie" so all you’ll get here is negative on Aniston. Why? Maybe it’s like someone up thread said they must vilify Jennifer to make Brad and Angie innocent, and we all know Angie really….who would believe that? lol… anyway I like Angie too, and she certainly isn’t much of an actress either. In fact , Jen is probably somewhat better than her because Angie relies on her body too much and not her acting skills. And I can’t imagine Jolie trying to do comedy. That takes skill and timing and she just doesn’t have that, she comes off too depressing and dark, on purpose by the way. Maybe she needs better scripts also, who knows.
