Matthew McConaughey Penelope Cruz Split

And another one bites the dust. Actor couple Matthew McConaughey, 36, and Penelope Cruz, 32, have called it quits. A joint statement from the couple to People reads: "[The couple] have decided to take time off as a couple. Due to busy work schedules and so much time apart, they mutually decided four weeks ago that separating was the best thing to do at this time." A source close to Cruz said, "They’re very good friends, but they haven’t been able to be together. Who knows what the future holds… [Penelope] said it has been too hard to have a relationship when you see the other person every six weeks." Here’s to hoping they find (new) love!

I did read that Penelope likes to spend most of her time with her family in Spain when not working and Matt is a Texas boy all the way. Good luck to both. Hope they remain friends. =)

I was hoping this couple would get married and have lots of beautiful babies but at least they know to take a break from each other and still be friends.

its sad, i like her and he seemed normal.guess some stuffi s cocking elsewhere in the kitchens.6 weeks isnt a reason to end things. it just seem too easy

Saw an interview he did with Oprah yesterday (was a repeat I think) and he talked so sweetly and lovingly about Penelope. I just wish them both the best and hope maybe they do make it work eventually.It would be so nice if just one celeb couple in Hollywood could make the point that celebrity love can actually last. They’re are too many splits!!!

Aww, I thought they would make it! Both of them tend to fail for their co-stars, I hope they stop doing this, PC and TC didn’t last and now MC. hmmm….boy, if I wasn’t engaged…only in my dreams lol i know)

I find Penelope Cruz annoying, I have no idea why. I guess she seems to have a thing for dating her male co-stars. Think about it…Matt Damon, Tom Cruise then Matt. Wonder who’s next.

Of course actors fall for each other on set — where else are they going to meet people? People in real life meet at work or through work all the time. When actors have long hours on location, and can’t trust people out of the business who are just after them because they are a celebrity, who else are they going to date?I don’t think there are any more splits in Hollywood than in real life — we just hear about it because they are famous. Everyone has a few relationships before they marry, and most people divorce. Hollywood is no different, we just hear about it.
