Break-Up Box Office Sales

"Unconventional romantic comedy" The Break-Up debuted at No. 1 this weekend with $38.1 million toppling over X-Men: The Last Stand, which slipped to second place with $34.35 million.  Not surprising since X3 was a load of donkey doo!!!! An editor from People said, "It’s hard to transfrom from small screen stardom to the big screen but [Jennifer Aniston] is a really, really good actress. There’s no question she’s got the chops." Looks like Aniston is here to stay! Pictures include Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn at Shutters at the Beach for The Break-Up Press Conference in Santa Monica, California.

So let me get this straight…if it failed, it’s Aniston’s fault and if it succeeds, it’s because of Vince. riiiiiiiightttt (rolls eyes).63 percent also said that after hoping for a laugh, it was Aniston’s name that made them buy tickets, and 62 percent said it was Vaughn which pulled them in. http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,19186,00.html?fdnewsNice try, haters. Sooooo sad. Go back to jacking off to Beyond Borders. That movie made like 2 cents at the box office. As do most of Jolie’s films.

His movie did well. now Vince can finally dump her. GO VINCE GOOOO!

My Fellow Bamz FansYa’all don’t need to do this…Everybody and their mother knows this movie isn’t JA’s **** except the JenJen fans. We have MORE to celebrate than these sad souls, Ya’all let them have the moment in peace. You know come next week they’ll be back in the state of acute depression when the movie sinks like a rock in water. Ya’all come on, let’s get outta here before they infect us with their bad luck.

# 51 | June | - lmao, so if the world is laughing at us for idolizing other celebrities(I won’t call names because to me calling someone you don’t know if a sign of how uneducated you are) then they almost must be laughing at you guys for doing the same thing right. Anyway, thanks for the entertainment and enjoy your idol success lol

^ WOW. Thanks for proving how much of a loser BAMZ fans are. Soooooooooo sad. Actually hoping that Jennifer Aniston, a woman who did nothing wrong other than divorce someone, failed in her career? Get help. Please.

I saw The Break Up Friday night–with a man who probably liked it as much or more than I did. He’s a long-standing JA fan and also a VV fan now, thanks to me!

I saw the B/Up (with a date). And we both "get" what the reviewer who wrote the following meant:"The Break-Up" and "High Fidelity" are the only two romantic comedies of the past 10 or so years that "get it." And by "it," I mean they actually have a higher romantic I.Q. than your average lovesick third grader fumbling through the pathetic prose on his Power Ranger valentine."Great date movie. Glad I saw it.

Indy Reviews @ 06/04/2006 at 11:11 pm

This is why Anistton Fans Like The Break Up CRUDE LANGUAGEGary and a couple of other characters make repeated crude comments and jokes about sex. In describing Brooke’s family, Gary uses crude language to remind her that her dad "touched" an exchange student, that her sister had sex with the Arizona Cardinals offensive line, and that her brother is gay. (She denies the latter charge, though her brother’s effeminate personality is played for laughs.) Srange Sexual ContentGary’s younger brother is acknowledged by all the other characters as "a pervert," taking Gary to a club full of "young, dumb, a–" where several women are seen in revealing clothing. He begins to describe to two women what he’d like to do to them sexually using plastic wrap. Later, he and Gary entertain a group of (what seem to be) strippers and/or prostitutes for a night of strip poker. The camera glimpses several of them in revealing outfits; one is very briefly seen partially naked making out with Gary’s brother. Gary is naked except for a couch pillow in his lap.Elsewhere, some of Brooke’s tops are low-cut. Taking advice from her boss to get a below-the-belt wax job called the "Telly Savalas," Brooke is seen (from behind) walking naked through the condo to make Gary jealous about a date with another guy. To fight back, Gary tells the guy what drinks get her in the mood for sex and what sexual fantasies she likes. Later, we glimpse a naked male torso as Brooke’s boss sketches a nude model in her office. Brooke sees him from both front and back, and we see the drawing of what the boss calls his "gorgeous tuckus." Lame Fighting An unlikely character takes an angry Gary down with a few effective punches and kicks, resulting in a bloody nose and bruised throat. We watch Gary play a few violent seconds of Grand Theft Auto and a boxing video game. Crude Language In addition to one use of the f-word and about 20 s-words, "d–n" is exclaimed around 25 times, usually with God’s name in front of it. Jesus’ name is used for swearing close to 10 times. Also heard are 10 or so uses each of "a–" and "h—." Crude language includes multiple uses of slang for parts of the male and female aatomy and several descriptive phrases for sex. DrinkingWine and beer are consumed at dinner parties and at a bar. Gary drinks harder stuff from the bottle.Racial comments Gary’s younger brother begins to make a crude racial joke at a dinner party.Tabloid lovers love this stuff!

No–it’s comments like this one written by a review of the movie that best explain why Aniston Fans like this movie: "The Break-Up" and "High Fidelity" are the only two romantic comedies of the past 10 or so years that "get it." And by "it," I mean they actually have a higher romantic I.Q. than your average lovesick third grader fumbling through the pathetic prose on his Power Ranger valentine."

Fanistons, your girl is along for the ride. It’s what she does. Face facts. One moderate hit - does not erase the 4 previous dead dogs in which SHE was the star, and in which SHE was the only opening name. I’m really happy for Vince, and I will not detract from HIS success in anyway by inferring that Maniston had anything to do with it. LOLOL! It’s too sad that you fanistons are such fickle fans that you couldn’t have gotten up off your duffs, and given Maniston a success ON HER OWN. I mean, just what kind of fans ARE YOU, that you only turn out when she’s in a film with someone PROVEN to be ‘money’ a the box office. What’s next FANISTONS?? I bet you can’t WAIT til HER NEXT SUCCESS, starring OPPOSITE BATMAN, THE TITANIC & TOM CRUISE in MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4…..LOL..I think she’s finally FOUND her NICHE, schtupping her way into films featuring PROVEN winners ALREADY, THEN taking CREDIT.Muahahaha. You guys are soooo sad.On a second note, looking at that PICTURE of ANISTON up TOP…I have to state my admiration for BRAD PITT once again…he is a beautiful soul and kind man who can TRULY look PAST THE EXTERIOR, into the INNER PERSON. Seriously, to be the hottest guy in Hollywood, and then to hook up with THAT. He’s a saint. Angelina and the babies are truly lucky to have such a selfless good man in there lives. I wish I was better at photoshopping - that one pic of her in the center, is a DEAD RINGER for Dustin Hoffman, it is an INCREDIBLE likeness.

Fans of Vince Vaughn’s rapid-fire comic delivery might find a few laughs in the very early going of this so-called "anti-romantic comedy." But after sitting all the way through The Break-Up, fans of Vaughn and co-star Jennifer Aniston might be harder to find. This unlikable film does neither many favors.Vaughn bludgeons what remains of the charm from his aging frat-boy act by forcing us to imagine what it might be like to actually live with him 20 years, 25 pounds and zero maturity after college graduation. He so clearly doesn’t deserve to be in any kind of relationship with Anniston’s pleasant (if vacant) character that she loses likeability points for not seeing through his shtick in the first place. It’s not that their arguments don’t ring true. Anyone who’s ever been in a relationship will recognize the familiar accusations, counterattacks, hurtful comments, attempts to get even, and resulting regret. In fact, that’s the problem. The spatting in The Break-Up settles for re-creating pedestrian domestic squabbling instead of making it outrageous enough to laugh at or making it revealing enough to move us. All we’re left with is sitting on the sidelines with the couple’s friends thinking, "These people need to grow up already."And to be fair, the film does suggest that the breakup forces both to take stock of themselves and change for the better. For me, it also exposes the flaw in the relationship philosophy that suggests it’s wiser to live together before getting married. Some might surmise that the story of The Break-Up confirms the need to avoid the marriage commitment until you see how things will go in a condo. As rational as that sounds, the point is missed. The commitment and self-sacrifice of marriage is designed to hold two selfish people together as they learn to be less selfish people. It’s not, of course, that married people don’t go through seasons of fighting like the couple in this film; it’s that the deep commitment of biblical marriage forces them back to self-sacrifice, forgiveness and finding new ways to reconnect. We’re meant to to grow together through the storms of growing up instead of growing up through the storms of repeated failed relationships. Marriage is always hard work. Living together first doesn’t make it easier. It just makes it easier to get out.Come to think of it, though, getting out isn’t a bad idea if you find yourself in the vicinity of The Break-Up. Why commit yourself to 90 coarse (and slow) minutes of watching this couple’s relationship grind to a painful stop?

COLD HARD MATH @ 06/04/2006 at 11:30 pm

Everyone involved has moved on, I know Brad has!JA: Finally a movie that did not tank.BRAD: Angelina, three beautiful children.( I know we have not seen Shiloh, but we all know that she is beautiful.)As the infamous Rodney King once said: CAN’T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?!

whose the money? @ 06/04/2006 at 11:30 pm

In addition to early success with The Break Up )(well deserved JEN & VINCE), VV’s last movie just won 3 MTV awards. Jen traded up and from those papz pics from Wrigley last week, looks like Vince is happy she did. Both Vince and Jennifer look happy in these photos too. So friends, lovers, whatever they are, they appear to have been good for each other.

i thought VV & JA’s acting was impressive in TBU. both actors showed they could stretch themselves and do the sarcastic comedic timing as well as deeply emotional stuff. some of the scenes were powerful. but the story was AWFUL!!! not sure if VV co-wrote it or not, but whoever did should not write another screenplay EVER!

love The Break Up @ 06/04/2006 at 11:34 pm

SAW THE MOVE AND I WOULD SEE IT AGAIN>The Break-Up (2006)movie review by Jeffrey Westhoff, Northwest Herald (Crystal Lake, IL) The Break-Up is more like Annie Hall told with Chicago attitude and work ethic.Halfway into the big fight that signals the breakup in "The Break-Up," we realize the movie is more than we bargained for.The advertising and the personalities of Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston have conditioned us to expect a wackiness. And we laugh when the fateful argument begins. "Why would I want to do the dishes?" Vaughn yells. "Nobody wants to do the dishes." Yup, ha ha ha. He’s got her there. Before the fight ends, however, we realize we’re listening to a painfully realistic argument between lovers now fed up with each other. Give Vaughn and Aniston Southern accents %u2013 and perhaps a crutch %u2013 and this could be a scene from Tennessee Williams."The Break-Up" is a comedy, but not in the mold of "The Wedding Crashers," Vaughn’s big hit from last summer. "The Break-Up" is more like "Annie Hall" told with Chicago attitude and work ethic. Beer bellies and sarcasm define the characters rather than preening intellectualism and dry wit, but the subject is what drives people apart when they think they belong together.Brooke (Aniston) should have expected trouble from fast-talking Gary (Vaughn). He picked her up at Wrigley Field while she was on date. Yet two years of apparent bliss follow before Brooke explodes at him. She has spent the evening preparing a meal for their families and instead of helping her clean, Gary flops on the couch to play "Grand Theft Auto."They no longer want to see each other, but they share a condo and neither wants to give it up. So Gary and Brooke remain antagonistic roommates, scouting tactics to annoy or humiliate the other.Vaughn and Aniston have terrific chemistry as friends and foes, and they supposedly became an off-screen couple during filming

Fanistons, congrats on showing up this time or was it the fratboy VV fans? Anyway X can now claim she’s on the same level acting wise as the other Jen, Jennifer Lopez. I peronally don’t think so, but if she picks parts as diverse as La Lopez, maybe she’ll reach B list status just like Lopez is (barely).

fair and balanced @ 06/04/2006 at 11:44 pm

Hey, sounds like a few of the BAMZ-fans visiting here might need a flashback to a few reviews of M/M Smith:… "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" proves a very long haul indeed. The sheer weight and volume of mayhem toward the end is numbing and meaningless, and two hours is a good 25 minutes more than such a frail conceit can sustain." From a review in Variety.

This was a film for people who haven’t grown up, so I am sure the young and immature audiences LOVED it. Tabloid readers finally found a real TABLOID MOVIE!! Woo Hoo.

LOL at F&B @ 06/04/2006 at 11:50 pm

Ohmigosh. That’s pretty funny. I saw both and I would see the break up again. Seeing Mr. and Mrs. Smith was just curiosity on my part, which seemed to be the reason for most of the audience. Everybody I know personally who saw it basically agrees that MRand MS was mostly drivel.

no surprise to me @ 06/04/2006 at 11:52 pm

Rock On VAUGHISTON

Let Aniston & Vaughn Fans have there weekend. Geez JA has beendrowned in so much pity , bad reviews and self martyring that she deserves to celebrate making half of what Shiloh Pitts pacifier cost! Look, this might be the ONLY day in the sun of movie making that JA has. Congrat JA & VV.!!

californiaG @ 06/04/2006 at 11:58 pm

Hey, I think I could name a few regular brangelina fans who have said "don’t believe it unless you read it in People". If you read what is posted above with the pictures it appears that it was an editor from People who said "Jennifer Aniston is a really, really good actress"Don’t understand all the whining about this being a "tabloid movie" Hypocrit much?

69 is drunk @ 06/05/2006 at 12:00 am

# 69 | LOL at F&B |You have been drinking way to much today celebrating!!! Let’s not make ourselves look like utter idiots.
