Break-Up Box Office Sales

"Unconventional romantic comedy" The Break-Up debuted at No. 1 this weekend with $38.1 million toppling over X-Men: The Last Stand, which slipped to second place with $34.35 million.  Not surprising since X3 was a load of donkey doo!!!! An editor from People said, "It’s hard to transfrom from small screen stardom to the big screen but [Jennifer Aniston] is a really, really good actress. There’s no question she’s got the chops." Looks like Aniston is here to stay! Pictures include Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn at Shutters at the Beach for The Break-Up Press Conference in Santa Monica, California.

Clinqua seems low classy IMO. Glad we don’t belong to the same fan base. The Break Up was a good film with good perfomances by Jen, Vince and others. Great Condo too. :)

#85 The Val Kilmer quote is a joke. Please stop posting it. What kind of guy would say that except if he were jealous. No Brad is not going to let himself go but he is not going to spend all day making himself look good. I certain he cared about his look but at some point he said lets get married JA and have kids and care about something other than ourselves. JA is still in that me me me mold but Brad has grown out of it.

well… i went to the theater yesterday and i saw the movie!!… i do consider myself a very impartial person on this….i’m honestly and definetly not a jen or angie fan… but i do have to say, i did enjoy the film very much ,personally ,it was way better than what i was expecting…

From #85 - I was talking about her tattoos silly. Please don’t force any more visuals of Jolie on me. Way TMI. Maybe she turns you on, but not me. ‘K?

joliepittme @ 06/05/2006 at 12:51 am

They should make a movie on this whole fighting mess. Id go see it

BE FAIR to #84 @ 06/05/2006 at 12:55 am

| to #84 curious Since you beleive the Clive and jen thing was purely tab. news, why do you believe tab. rumor about Angelina ? be fair ,please. I believe all of it was tab. rumor. I’m not a Brangelina fan but some of you was just so ….. UNFAIR!

not so interestin @ 06/05/2006 at 12:55 am

JA is still in that me me me mold but Brad has grown out of it. # 92 | interesting Oh really, when did Brad tell you that? He may have gone back to not bathing as in Juliette Lews days, but count on it. Brad will live to morph again. To Gina 18 - I also very much enjoyed the movie and think I’m pretty impartial too. Although I’ve never been a fan of Brad’s it doesn’t influence my movie choices. For example, I saw River Runs Through It because I liked the book and not because Brad was or was not in it.

her words @ 06/05/2006 at 1:00 am

# 96 | BE FAIR to #84 - I think most people believe that about Angelina because she personally said that it was true. She said she falls in love with all her co-stars and she did marry two of them. She also said she would marry Jenny Shimatu (?) if she could. Clearly she hooked up with brad (in some way) during the filming of M/M Smith. Plenty of stories and pictures to back all that up. Nothing to back up the Clive/Jen story.

#97Actions speak greater than words. He has a child and is adopting two others. Trust me you can not be the me me person like JA with kids. JA knows that. What was her quote when Regis ask her if she takes care of her godchild Coco. "Oh no I am the godmother not a babysitter"

fairy godmother @ 06/05/2006 at 1:10 am

It’s a pretty well reported fact that Jen Aniston visits her godchild Coco at least once a week when they are in the same place. (Mostly Malibu). Having been a godmother I can say that no, I am not a babysitter. Godmother’s play a far more important role in a child’s life. Some people just like to criticize everything she says, without any real reason.

I beg you please @ 06/05/2006 at 1:19 am

I am BAMZS supporter, but I beg you please … move on. Jennifer needs a hit to finally cut-off her ties with Brad. She chose her career, so let us wish her well. Brad chose to be with Angie and he was rewarded with three kids, which we all know having a happy family is the dream of his life. He has Angie, Mad, Z, and Shiloh. He is a very happy man.Let Jennifer be happy also, because if she fails in her career, she will be feel bitter forever and cannot move on … which will in a way put a burden Brad and his family. I am sure a hit movie will do her well and finally come to peace with herself. Please BAMZS fans, let us wish her well, so that everybody can move on.

interesting @ 06/05/2006 at 1:20 am

#100 you sound like a great godmother. But it was the way JA said it that matters not what she said. She said it like babysitting was the worst thing she could think of. Tell me would you have anwswered the same way.

Jen the slut @ 06/05/2006 at 1:20 am

Even though we all know Jennifer Aniston’s new movie The Break Up is going to suck beyond all belief, there may be one small reason to go see it: Jennifer Aniston’s Ass. According to CelebNewsWire, Aniston gets naked in the movie around the 57 minute mark (for those of you planning to wait for the DVD), but only shows her two golden cheeks. But even though she’s not showing very much in the movie, The Sun reports that Jennifer Aniston told OK Magazine that she really enjoyed walking around naked on set.Jennifer told OK! magazine: "I just got crazy, ripped off my skirt and went: ‘Woo! Woo!’ "I guess there’s something liberating about walking around completely nude. "I am comfortable being naked."Congratulations Jen on becoming a ****.

OMG her face is so caked with makeup I can’t believe she can keep her head up so well. She deserves an award for that!

You can’t be saying things based on stupid tabloids, if that’s the game then lets play fair:ANGELINA FLIES INTO OVER BRAD’S SECRET CALLS TO JENTuesday May 23, 2006By DAVID GARDNER and PATRICIA SHIPP Angelina Jolie is furious after learning that Brad Pitt has made secret phone calls to his ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston, The ENQUIRER has learned. In the days leading up to Angelina giving birth, she blew up at Brad and dissolved into tears after learning he was going to reunite with Jen and produce a movie with her as his leading lady. The news sent Angelina into a rage and she is frantic over the prospect that the pair will reconcile."Angelina and Brad have been fighting constantly for the past several months," revealed an insider."And she was especially livid with Brad when she found out that he had made secret phone calls to Jennifer regarding a movie project."It’s hardly surprising that Angelina is uncomfortable with Brad and Jen working together again. She knows only too well what can happen between two people on a film project."

# 98 | her words Didn’t Jen fail on her co star Vince in TBU ? How about her previous bf before hooking up with Brad ?

Sorry to burst your bubbles but TBU is NOT in the top 3 opening night highest grosses of all time. BIG daddy in 1999 grossed 43 million on their opening weekend. Sorry folks.Hitch $43,142,214Big Daddy $41,536,37050 First Dates $39,852,237

Why are people celebrating just because it hit $38M? This is nowhere close to $50M or have we forgotten how to count? Oh, wait. Someone lowered the standards for an underdog. If you lower people’s expectations, you’ll always exceed them! More power to mediocrity!

ANGELINA’S SCHEMEAngelina Jolie, 28, recently proved that in addition to her beauty, she also has brains. On April 1, the Oscar winner was shooting a dinner scene with Brad Pitt for the film Mr. And Mrs. Smith at the L.A. restaurant Cicada. According to an extra in the movie, "The assistant directors made sure to surround [Jolie and Pitt] with the oldest and homeliest extras on the set." The source said when one attractive blonde extra asked why she was being moved away from the stars, she was told, "Angelina doesn’t want anyone distracting in her shots."

I watched the break up with my boyfriend last friday. i told my bf already before we saw it if he was ready to get bored, and that it might suck because of what the reviews have said, but we decided to watch it anyway just out of curiousity, just the same reason why we watched mr&mrs.smith. we were supposed to see the 8:35 show but when we got there at 8 it was sold out, so we had to get the 9:35 show. we came back at 9pm expecting not too many people in the theatre but damn…it was full, we had to sit real close to the screen which i hate. well the movie was pretty good. people were laughing at the jokes, and esp. the men seem to enjoy it. i was even annoyed at the guy next to me because trust me he did not stop laughing it got annoying. the end part was kinda sad but i loved that it is not ur typical romantic comedy where everything has a happy ending. some people in the theatre did not get up to leave right away thinking there would be an end scene after the credits. it liked the movie and my i think my bf enjoyed it more than i did surprisingly. vince is funny, and i thought jen really did a good job,she surprised me. overall good movie and 2 days after the movie, me and my bf find ourselves mentioning or talking about a scene from the movie which we could relate to. i enjoyed this movie more than i did mr&mrs smith.

# 104 | Jen the **** |Isn’t it FUNNY how Jen is finally letting her inhibitions free? Once Brad fell line, bait and sinker for Angelina and her SEXY ways, Chiniston has done nothing but try to prove to the world that she can be a Ho too! Congratulations Jen for freeing up you bod. You paid & worked so very hard for it. Not a natural like some women we can name.

#110The actresses starring with AJ in MAMS were quite beautiful. Anyone who saw the movie knows that so thus you funnystuff is worthless because it certainly is not correct nor funny.

i dont think big daddy should be compared to this movie, big daddy was not a romantic comedy after all…

# 72 | californiaG |Perhaps his motive is to seperate his magazine from the rest of the tabloid garbage. That’s a great way to do it. Clearly states People is not part of the Bermuda triangle and therefore a reliable source. It’s just one Editors opinion with a strong motive.

Aniston Agonistes: Good Girl, Odd Film Choices Sign In to E-Mail This Print Save By CARYN JAMESPublished: June 5, 2006There was a moment back in 2002 when Jennifer Aniston gave such a lovely, heartbreaking performance in the small film "The Good Girl" that her future as a serious actress seemed secure. And it was less than a year ago that women in Los Angeles wore T-shirts reading "Team Aniston," sympathizing with her as a real-life good girl dumped by that cad Brad Pitt for the femme fatale from "Team Jolie." But since then Ms. Aniston’s career has seemed like a case study in how not to become a movie star, how to forfeit the title of America’s sweetheart and how savagely those on-and-off-screen roles can merge. How did her career go haywire so fast? And can her latest gambit, the box-office hit "The Break-Up," set it right?A wan, predictable romantic comedy, "The Break-Up" reveals a lot about the problems — the brittle on-screen persona and the public relations misfires — behind her wavering career. The film, in which she and Vince Vaughn play a separated couple living in and squabbling over their Chicago condo, was No. 1 at the weekend box office, making just over $38 million, beyond the most optimistic industry predictions. That showing may owe something to the lack of competition for romantic comedies, but it is above all a tribute to the power of celebrity gossip and hype. Refusing to confirm or deny their rumored off-screen romance, the film’s stars have not-talked about it separately on late-night shows, in print interviews, all over the place. Ms. Aniston needed this hit, because "The Break-Up" follows a terrible professional run. In the last year she has appeared in two high-profile movies — the disappointing thriller "Derailed" and the stink-bomb comedy "Rumor Has It" — and the smaller "Friends With Money," in which she was the least convincing member of an ensemble. The characters in these films are wildly different, but Ms. Aniston’s performance isn’t. She projects the same high-maintenance Jennifer Aniston style — the trademark sleek hair, the natural-looking makeup, the body so toned you wonder how many hours a day a person can spend with a trainer — to be continue

# 112 | Jen is a HO | June 5, 2006 01:43 AM | Report yes good for her and embracing her ****** side, hell soon enough she’ll start stealing husbands too like some women we can name…

To Fanistons @ 06/05/2006 at 1:49 am

whether she’s supposed to be a con woman posing as an executive in "Derailed," an obituary writer for The New York Times in "Rumor Has It" (trust me, no one here looks like that), or a woman so demoralized she quits her teaching job to clean houses in "Friends With Money." Along with that polished look, she exudes coolness and self-possession even when the part calls for warmth or vulnerability. She did warm and vulnerable winningly in the cult movie "Office Space" (1999). But lately all her characters uncomfortably resemble the one who made her rich and famous, the feather-brained Rachel on "Friends," who thought being pretty was her full-time job. It’s as if she has substituted a movie-star pose for acting. Carrying an off-screen persona into movies often works, of course. It does for Mr. Vaughn, whose regular-guy routine, the working-class demeanor and untoned bod, suits his "Break-Up" role. But even if we assume that the characters’ romance was an upscale-downscale attraction of opposites, Ms. Aniston’s gleaming self-assurance in the film is intrusive. After the breakup and a supposedly excruciating night, she arrives at the art gallery where she works and is told by her style-conscious boss (Judy Davis) to go home because she looks terrible. Except she doesn’t look anything like terrible; she just has her hair pulled back in a very chic ponytail. And in the long run, all that coyness about her possible relationship with Mr. Vaughn may turn out to be a misbegotten strategy, echoing the coolness and emotional reserve of her characters. Maybe she does want to keep her private life private, but the evasions have simply ginned up curiosity, which isn’t the same as affection. Audiences like to feel a warm connection to their movie stars, like Tom Hanks or Julia Roberts. It’s an illusion, but a comforting one. The relationship with Mr. Vaughn itself may have cost Ms. Aniston sympathy. In terms of her image it doesn’t even matter if that relationship exists; the public believes it does. And while replacing Mr. Pitt with a new trophy guy would have seemed like vindication for the wounded princess, instead she has reached beneath her on the celebrity food chain. Mr. Vaughn seems smarter than his on-screen persona, and his mega-hit "Wedding Crashers" gave him some Hollywood clout. Still, nobody says, How did she get him? Just the opposite. comtinue..

To Fanistons @ 06/05/2006 at 1:50 am

To have a (possible) private relationship dissected so brutally by the public seems unfair, but then every star is complicit in constructing a public image. Some are just better at it than others. So, with her misguided media strategy, Ms. Aniston gives television interviews about the yummy hot dogs in Chicago, where "The Break-Up" was shot (and which, she doesn’t add but people know, is Mr. Vaughn’s hometown). The audience sees that she has not turned a frog into a prince; she has joined him down on the lily pad. Meanwhile, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, perfecting their mastery of the media, have gone from adopting children to adopting a whole country, Namibia. Remarkably, the press has swooned for this stunt, recasting the cad and the femme fatale as humanitarians instead of two people who brought along their Los Angeles obstetrician and who knows how many other loyal retainers to Africa to stage-manage their baby’s birth. No actor who made $18.5 million last year, as Ms. Aniston reportedly did, can be called a failure. But her biggest box-office success, "Bruce Almighty," the movie that gives Jim Carrey God-like powers, wasn’t really her film; "The Break-Up" belongs to the two-headed Vaughn-Aniston box-office anomaly. "The Good Girl" was hers. As an unhappily married woman who works at a discount store and is attracted to a younger man, she did more than pull her hair back; she disappeared into the role and made that woman understandable, believable and moving. "The Break-Up" won’t be her last chance to create such a commanding presence, but it doesn’t help, and it leaves fans of her real acting talent with a whole new Team Aniston goal to root for.

These post about TBU are sounding the same.*not a fan of either group*my boyfriend liked it alot*there was so much laughter *liked it better than Mr and Mr Smith*the movie was fullSo tell me what site are you all going to for the talking points about how you loved TBU
