Maddox Goes To School
Angelina Jolie took her 4-year-old son Maddox Jolie-Pitt to school late last week. More pictures of Brad Pitt riding his custom made motorcycle have also been included in this entry. Today marks the United Nations’ World Refugee Day. Angelina Jolie will give Anderson Cooper 360° an exclusive interview tonight @ 10PM ET/PT on CNN. The interview was taped June 14 at L’Ermtage hotel in Beverly Hills. Anderson Cooper has said, "We have a lot of simliar interests in Africa… We’ve been to a lot of the same places… It was a free-ranging conversation in which she talked a lot about her family… [Angelina's] incredibly natural and down-to-earth. She is like this person you’d wantto hang ou with. Her commitment to actually trying to do good for other people is incredibly genuine. Anyone who spends any amount of time with her gets this." just saw this quote on the Americans for African Adoption website. it made me think of brad and angie:"You can always tell a leader - they’re the ones with the arrows in their back."ttfn # 1042 | gitane |————————————————–ITA with that quote, thanks Gitane
Anyone notice that during the interview with AC, Anderson mentioned that Shiloh’s name meant "the peaceful one". I think this was the intended meaning behind Lil Shi’s name. Not "messiah" and not "his gift". Just my two cents.
African Girl, I am convinced you are the 800 pound gorilla sitting on this site and swatting away the ‘flies’ who land on your bananas.# 1027 | YOU GUYS ARE NUTSWell Imagine that…after months of hard work someone is finally taking notice. Oh thank you friend for recognizing my efforts but alsa you give me too much credit..800 pounds, don’t I wish but you see, I am at a measly 650 pounds. Not to worry though, I figure by the end of the year I’d be at whooping 1000 pounds…not bad huh? Yep, more flies to swat.BTW, if you really want to have an "exchange" with me, use a familiar handle. I’m not really into speaking to ghosts.
916 | Indie Hey You, I didn’t know you were African…Nigerian no less. Small world isn’t it? I agree with what you wrote but I’d like to add a couple of things to your assessment about what is going on in Nigeria and its surrounding countries. It would be in a later post.
African Girl that was a great response. As a 1000 gorilla myself, I just want you to know that it’s no big deal! I mean yeah it’s harder to swat flies with the extra pounds and all, but you get used to it. By the way doesn’t it amaze you how certain characteristics are attributed to certain ppl? Zahara is a monkey, no she’s a yard ape, no she’s a Nigglet!? Now you are a gorilla! Wow-we really have some educated forward thinking ppl posting. I wonder if that poster was shot and bleeding to death and Zahara was a doctor who specialized in emergency care and or you were a doctor who specialize in emergency care; I wonder if that poster would want you to treat him/her or would the poster want you to step over them and keep going because after all, you’re a monkey and a gorilla!
#1033 Elena your my best here I love read your posts and bamzs fans. You go girls.Ilove be a bamzs fans bc there are so mature.Have a good dayYou rock brad/angie and bamzs
# 1015 | Anna # 1021 | Anna Oh Heavens. You’ve got my brain juices flowing…Gosh, how I wish we could continue this but we do have a tendency to drop the old thread for a new one. I’ll keep checking to see if anyone else is interested. I also think it is the perfect thread to discuss this further…you know no interruptions (Knock on wood)Adding to what you wrote, I have one word PROPAGANDA. It’s funny that the Media, who is supposed to be "The gate keeper" for the people, is the tool being used to carry out this manipulation. A few yrs ago, I read a book by Neil Postman "Amusing ourselves to Death: Public Discourse in the age of Show Business" It was an eye opener. Although the book was written in the early 80s, it still applies here. It’s not a difficult read (190 pages) for anyone who’s interested. Not to be "conspiracy" minded but I too think it’s a little bit too pat to think this is all coincidence.# 1020 | cain Lol…I’m going on the record with this, I was a big fan of The X-Files, so it’s safe to say Conspiracy is my middle name. There was an episode where a govt. agent told The Lone Gun Men (Any X-Filer in the house?) That Saddam Hussein was made up…yep, that "they" only brought him out just to shake things up…"An out of work Actor" the agent said "As a matter of fact, I made his name up when I was using the toilet". Okay, I laughed..coz you know won’t that be the something if SH was really made up. Well, I forgot about that until I saw "Wag the Dog"…now come on, if that didn’t get anyone going hmmmm, well I’m not sure about that person. I know TV shows and movies are exaggerated…believe me I know but there’s an Iota of truth in ‘em.
# 1056 | malibumom Lol…I know right but the question should be would WE want to treat such a person..hmmm, I mean as doctors, our job is to save lives, can you imagine how many lives we’ll save if they don’t have to cross path with such a person as this? Think about it. Honestly, I regret not becoming a teacher. I had no idea there were this many ignorant people out there. I guess that’s why I’m all for AJ’s cause EDUCATION FOR ALL BY THE YEAR 2015.Oh by the way, How’s life as 1000 lber? Gosh…I can’t wait.
Well, I forgot about that until I saw "Wag the Dog"…now come on, if that didn’t get anyone going hmmmm, well I’m not sure about that person. # 1058 | African Girl***************huh? you ain’t stll mad is ya?
# 1060 | rudedog Lmao…Honestly you are too much. I still know what you did, I’m just waiting for you to admit it.
# 909 | African Girl Egads, AG…you admitted that in writing?! Never leave a paper trail! You’re going to be famous one day and someone is going to throw a printout of this blog in your face and say, "Do you remember when you admitted that Barbara Walters was a role-model for you?" You’d better see if you can get JJ to delete your admission…er, post… # 936 | Passing Through Lmao…Hey, I’m gonna let it out. I don’t want anyone holding it over my head…Blackmail is NOT something I want to be caught up in.
# 1019 | ntt Re: AfricaI know you asked Indie but I’d also like to answer. A few years ago I wrote a short paper on my personal insight on Africa and what the problem is….don’t worry, I’ll summerize it so you aren’t bored. I just have to dig it up…Hopefully between Indie and I, you’d know more about Africa. I just love it when people want to talk about this lovely place. Is it any wonder I like AJ and BP?
# 1027 | YOU GUYS ARE NUTS- you know, up until yesterday, I hate doing depositions, the attorney asked the same questions, over and over again…now, after reading your post, it’s just dawn on me they were brilliant( the attorney’s questions)…you see, if a person from the beginning telling the truth, no matter how long the time, when you ask them again, the story is always the same, but for those who was telling a lie, well, they usually don’t remembered the lie very well, and eventually after the deposition, the truth will come out…so, after reading your post, from the beginning you were telling us your accomplishment, your intelligent, but as toward the end with your remark to AG regarding her as a" 800 gorilla..".your truth come out…you gave us the truth without the interrogatorries questions…you are not as intelligent or as educated…you lied. To me you are a RACIST PIG!!! ( apologize to all the pigs out there)
Well, I forgot about that until I saw "Wag the Dog"…now come on, if that didn’t get anyone going hmmmm, well I’m not sure about that person. # 1058 | African Girl***************huh? you ain’t stll mad is ya?
Hi AG, thanks for volunteering to enlighten me about something going on in our world. I like to know people’s different perspectives. I have a better grasp at things when I talk to somebody. It’s sad to say, but most of what I know of Africa, I learned in my high school years, and that was in the 60’s. (I don’t want to date myself more than that. LOL). I know the Congo was a colony of Belgium, along with Uganda and Urundi (sp), Algeria, Tunisia, Maroc were French, along with some other ones I don’t know for sure. I have been to Egypt on a 3 week vacation, and did do research on that country, geographical and historical wise, but to my understanding, the situations in Egypt were no where as complicated as those of other African countries. Because of BAMZS staying in Namibia, I read a travel book the other day on Zimbabwe and Botswana. I was very surprised to find out that they are not backward like most people think. Anyway, I would love to learn more. Maybe we should reserve a thread for World Views, or something like that. Just hope the haters would find it so boring they don’t want to visit. Nah, too good to be true.
1058/ African Girl"It’s funny that the Media, who is supposed to be "The gate keeper" for the people, is the tool being used to carry out this manipulation."And who puts out the above description of the Media? Isn’t it the Media itself? Another way to figure out the Media’s real role in a country is to look at what happens to the Media when it doesn’t ‘tow the line’: They get fired, arrested, imprisoned, ‘disappeared’. When there is a coup, they’re some of the first ones to be arrested, newspapers closed down, editors assasinated….poets exiled…..Anyone who knows about composer Mikis Theodorakis or read what was happening to newspaper people in Yogoslavia during the Kosovo times knows these things. And what happens to the Media when they do ‘tow the line’? They become big monopolies, make money, feed us "packaged meals" of limited nutritional value affecting our entire scope of activities, from eating to voting, to investing, to health care, to religion, to …well, you name it.The one show that gave a slim idea of how it all works was "West Wing". The truth is there cannot be another way-any other way would create anarchy. It would be like a flock of sheep with several different shepherds-can’t work effectively. But there is a certain satisfaction and usefulness in "knowing" how it all woks-it enables us to search beyond the front pages and find other, more individual ways to look at things and do things. Angelina did that instictively, as soon as she faced the cruel realities out there when she had to be there to film. She was a person that looked with her eyes open, and evaluated what she saw with a pure heart-almost like a child. And she did all that she could do about it.In some of her photos with the refugees she is weeping-it makes me weep immediately when i see them, because her emotion is so sincere. A person does not have to be an actress to weep in front of a child with cut-off arms-she weeps just because she has a loving heart.
1066 | ntt |African GirlMalayaI am sorry ladies, I did not log back on last night. I hope you guys come back to this thread, the new thread is sapping my energy just trying to get through it, and frankly all that *** for tat is not for me.I wish JJ had a site that we can register and have chats, but we will see.AG, I read on another thread that you lived in Kaduna briefly, what do you know, so did I. I have been to Cotonou several times as I had friends that live there.NTT, what can I say about Nigeria. It is blessed country with so much natural resources and human resources. We are cursed with visionless leaders, who only care about enriching their bank accounts.I think the biggest problems in Nigeria is indiscipline. Nigeria is so much like America, but the difference is that the laws here in America is in enforceable, whereas in Nigeria the law is rarely enforced.I do not believe that democracy should be a big concern in Nigeria, I will settle for a man like Jerry Rawlings of Ghana, who had a vision as to where his country needed to go, he got rid of all the sycophant politicians who have bankrupt their country, some call him a dictator, but I will not mind that sort of dictator for my country right now.I haven’t lived there in 22 years, but I go back periodically, but every time I visit, things seems to have gotten worse than it was previously.U could go on and on but we could do this on Aol instant message or a msn.
# 1068 | Indie Now this is really eerie. Watch out, some people are gonna think we are one person. NttLike I said, this was a paper I wrote a few yrs ago, I’ve edit for content and to make it less…formal. The Problems with Africa.First, I’d like to point out that Africa is a continent not a country…I believe this is very important to note because it ties into answering the question. Now, if you were to go around asking people what their take is, you’d get varying answers on what the cause of the problem is but one thing everyone agrees on is that the colonization of Africa root of the major issues we face today. Scholars in this area believe that Colonization had a very destabilizing effect on Africa. Without going into much detail, in the early nineteenth century there was a scramble for Africa by the Europeans, who established their own rules, border and market system in the countries they took over…in essence, they created a divide amongst Africans. Apparently, before the colonization Africans paid very little attention to borders, there was a free for all type thing going but with the Europeans in charge, emphasizing on the differences, the Africans became distrustful of one another not realizing that the Europeans had their own agenda…Tapping into the natural resources Africa sat on. Like I said, Colonization was the starting point, to really understand what it did, you have to take an in depth look at who Africans are. Africa is divided into five parts…West Africans (Nigeria, Ghana, Republic of Benin) East Africa (Ethiopia, Burundi, Kenya), North Africa (Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Sudan) Mid Africa (Congo, Chad, Cameroon) and South Africa (Namibia (thank you Jolie-Pitt) South Africa, Botswana) The countries I mentioned are just guides incase you want to look them up. Okay, we have five different regions with over ten countries, each country with over 250 tribes and 300 and something languages. Are you getting the picture now….I know it’s very complex but by shinning the light on these differences, These “explorers” created a deep mistrust that would be passed from generation to generation. For instance, In Nigeria there are the Northerners (Hausas as they are called) The Southerners (Yorubas) and the Easterners (Ibo). Within those tribes are more factions and each one speaking a totally different language…I mean they speak a general language e.g. Hausa but also have different Languages, for instance, I speak Hausa fluently but it is the general Hausa, now my grandmother who is from Zaria (Kaduna) speaks a different type of Hausa…one so completely above my head, they could be planning on giving me away, right in front of me and I’d just sit there and smile. This is the same for The southerners and the easterners and there is a separation amongst everyone…the sort of “I’d stand by my southern brother against a northerner BUT I’ll stand by my language speaking brother against those who don’t speak our language even though they are still southerners” Jeez…I’m confusing even myself but I hope you get my drift. It’s been very difficult finding a common language…for instance, in Nigeria (I’m using Nigeria because I’m familiar with it) the official language is English but some people feel the unofficial official language is Yoruba. To be successful in a place like Lagos (the heart of Nigeria, the business center) it is advisable to speak Yoruba. In Benin, the official language is French but because it’s really close to Nigeria….Lagos actually, we also have Yoruba speaking Beninese. Of course there are people who don’t take kindly to the this, who feel the Yorubas are trying to make their own language the official language and so tension arises, things get a little heated and BAM, you have tribes fighting each other.Apart from the language, there’s also religion. In the western countries you’re Christian, Muslim, Jew or Atheist but with Africans, we have a myriad of religions…maybe I shouldn’t use religion, it’s more like what is worshipped. Some believe in worshipping the earth, others worship the waters, a few the sky and so on but like the western country, we have Christians, Muslims and for lack of a better word “Idol Worshippers”. Okay, this is where it gets really dramatic…lol. Now imagine a Yoruba who is Muslim and a Hausa who is also muslin…where do you think they stand when the Yourbas and Hausas are in a scuffle? How about A Yoruba who is Christian and another who is Muslim…what do they do when there’s tension between the Christians and Muslims? Please keep in mind that I have only used ONE country as an example, now imagine the same scenario in ALL the countries IN ALL five regions….and there in lies the problem….NO COMMON GROUND. It is what the Europeans fed on and it is also what the politicians are feeding on right now. In her post, Indie mention the level of mistrust between the Northerners and Southerners, she wrote “There is so much mistrust because the British handed over power to the North even though the oil is in the south; the North has the oil refinery.”. The funny thing is the people in the north feel that The South has a tendency to misuse the resources. I am not saying this is the truth but this is what WE grew up hearing and If I didn’t get a chance to get live in the south for a few yrs, seeing things from their own perspective I’d continue to believe that and what happens if I get to a position of power…why, I’d do everything possible to make sure the south gets nowhere near the resources. As I stated earlier, we need to find a common ground instead of looking at the differences. The Major causes of war in Africa are: Ethnic, Religious, Political, Independence (Countries still under British rule. Until recently, S>Africa was one of such. They are still trying to get their bearing) and Interstate (When states in a country are at war in a country. Remember, each state consists of a different ethnic group). I put a link below that gives you a break down. Check out the Problem in Congohttp://www.ppu.org.uk/war/countries/africa/africa_index.htmlI got the following from the review of Babel and it believe it is appropriate here.As told in the book of Genesis, the story of the Tower of Babel…All mankind unties together and decides to build a tower that reaches to the heavens so that they can be like God. Due to their arrogance and blasphemy, God curses man, making them all speak different languages, there fore causing mass confusion and stopping the construction of the tower. No one can communicate and they spread out around the world.
AG — glad I could validate your existence in this pointless diatribe. However, my issue is with Estelle. How is using a common term ‘800 pound gorilla’ racist? Because the moniker is African Girl? If anything, the term is speciesist. Just as when I first posted very politely as Mangelina someone (cookie) went apeshit on me (please no comment about racism for using apeshit) and called me a COW. Also speciesist, not racist. And, sorry folks I weigh 110, so I’m not the classical interpretation of cow or pig. As for lying about education, sorry no lie. If I were to embellish I would have added Harvard, Yale and Cal Tech and put the SAT’s at 1500’s. But I did enjoy your convoluted analogy to a deposition, wherein I assume you were either being deposed for crimes against intelligence or were the court reporter.
# 1069/ African GirlThank you for taking the time to post this AG-it’s brilliant!
# 1069 | African Girl -I love it, with the exception of Egypt and Morocco, I know nothing else of Africa, well, what’ve learned from world history about Africa, but not as in details. I would like to know more…Do you have any recommendation on any books? or references?…
Forgot to add, but yes SR 1034, she does have a mannish appeal — perhaps why all these women want to do her. She has a huge head that is as flat as Soon-Yi’s. She has the body of a preying mantis. Her lower jaw juts out like a lhasa apso, so why always harp on the other’s chin? She is a cross between a preying mantis and lhasa apso — again, sorry for being speciesist. Put her literally next to a Petra Nemcova or other truly feminine beauty and it would be obvious. And, yes I am now using the last moniker I used 1000 posts ago — is that a crime? Surely AG went on the JA thread and hated under a different name. Also, check out ‘Gia’ — she has a gut and her boobs are totally lopsided, yum.
# 1070 | YOU GUYS ARE NUTS -you are back!…wow, I’m so thrill…you also have MD, PHD, PHDD, MDS, DDS…..after your last name as well?.How impressive, with all the schooling you have and you’re still here talking to me?….responding to me?….did you said I’m a lowly court reporter? and a criminal too?….you’ve said your post was polite and therefore by saying someone a 800 pound Gorilla was ok?…ok, you are not a racist, you are a speciesist PIG to me…( actually, I was at a wedding last week, and there was a roast pig, weight about 110 lbs.), it was delicious btw.
1037 Be Sane. Never aspired to be a Hollywood star. Those who do often have a huge void to fill like you all do. Who would envy having to put curtains around the outside of your house so that people like you don’t get to see more pictures. Or thinking that you have to put curtains around your house, only fueling the fire. The kids will all be wearing masks and veils soon, ala Prince Michael Jackson. And Brad has lost the spark in his eyes. Sad. Though he made this bed. Peace Out.
DDS? Too funny. Actually ScD. It’s my day off so I thought I’d research a dissertation on stupidity and this site is the richest with material. Was I bashing court reporters? No, I’m sure you’re Clarence Darrow. Now I’m off to jump in my pool. It’s gorgeous here in LA today. Just think, I’m in the same lat/long as BAMZS. Oh, shivers. Really, Peace Out now.
