#988, Krissy… I concur wholeheartedly. I am usually the life of the party and, of course, very outspoken, flirtatious and daring. I am very athletic and competitive in sports as well. Do you have a lot of female friends? I really do not have a lot of female friends (just a couple) because I find females to be somewhat intimated by my demeanor and they have outrightly told me so. Most of my party buddies are males and even then it can become very trying as I am not sure males and females can be just friends. Anyway, some of my very good party pals are Cancers. It is all good! Adoption InformationThere are many myths out there about adoption and who can adopt. So here are some of the facts on adoption and who can adopt: • Men/women who are single, married, with a life partner, divorced, widowed, legally separated can adopt. • No age restrictions on who can adopt, except s/he must be at least 18 years old, there is no upper age limit, although s/he must be 10 years older than the child that s/he is adopting. • For Los Angeles County Adoptions Division to conduct an adoption homestudy for your family, prospective adoptive families must reside in Los Angeles County. (If you reside outside of Los Angeles County, please contact your local public adoption agency.) • Home ownership is not necessary. • No set income requirements, but they do need to show they can care for their family’s basic needs. • The adoptive parent(s) and child do not have to be the same race, color, or same national origin. • "Special Needs" is defined as: older children (between 3 and 9 years old), ethnic minorities (most of our kids are African American and Latino and boys), sibling sets, children with adverse parental backgrounds, and children with medical, educational, and psychological needs. • The adoption fee is waived for adopting a child through LA County, so the costs to adopt is minimal. • Your adopted child qualifies to receive AAP (monthly federal financial assistance) and Med-Cal coverage until 18 years old (or 21 if the child has a physical or mental handicap). Adoptive familie Filing A Petition Any adult person may file a petition to adopt a child; however, the person adopting must be at least 10 years older than the child. If the child is over 12 years old, his/her consent to adoption is also necessary. After the petition has been filed with the Court for an Independent Adoption, a conformed copy of the petition, with the filing date and action number noted, should be forwarded immediately by the Attorney of Record or the prospective adoptive parent to the Department of Children’s Services, Adoptions Division, 3075 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, California, 90010, Attention: Independent Adoption Unit, Telephone Number 888-811-1121. Documents Needed • Certified copy of the birth certificate of the child to be adopted. • Certified copies of present marriage certificates (prospective adoptive parents and birth parents). • All prior final divorce decrees (prospective adoptive parents and birth parents). • A copy of military discharge. • TB tests on anyone in the home over the age of 18. • Verification of income. Death certificates of any spouse where t Interviews Two interviews are conducted during the home study process. Typically, the first interview will be in the office and the second will take place at your home after all of the paperwork has been completed. The interview process is our opportunity to exchange information with you and to gather the information needed to get to know you and make an assessment of your strengths, any needs and your home environment. Consents of the Birth Parents DCFS is responsible for obtaining the consents of the birthparents in a relative Independent adoption. Non-relatives Independent adoptions require the services of a State-licensed Adoption Service Provider (ASP). ASP’s are individual adoption practitioners in the community who you must engage to obtain consents. They also must be present at the signing of the adoptive placement papers. The law allows ASPs to charge $500 for their services. In some situations, court action may be necessary to terminate the rights of the birthparents to release the child for adoption. The Department will advise the prospective adoptive parents and their attorney of record of the need to take appropriate legal action; it is then the responsibility of the prospective adoptive parents and their attorney to see that legal action is taken in a timely manner. Court Hearing We present our recommendation to the Court at a hearing that will be scheduled by you or your legal representative to finalize the adoption. You will appear before the judge with the child to be adopted. After reviewing and approving the situation, the Court then issues an adoption decree. Hey, thought I’d stop by on Sunday PM before I started watching my movies to ask…Did anyone see CNN’s Showbiz Tonight on yesterday (Saturday July 1st)? The one where the preacher/minister was talking (under his breathe) about AJ/BP and having a kid out of wedlock? I can understand both sides but I don’t see him giving millions to starving, aids stricken, abused women/children and so forth.It would shock the He^% and shut his butt up if it came out that AJ/BP have been married since November/December. I not saying that’s when they got married, I’m just saying…if they let it leak they’re already married…boy egg all in his FACE!!!! Now whatcha gonna say preacher man…that’s what I would say or whether write to CNN…If we start looking at what’s wrong with the church or shall I say if he starts looking at what’s wrong with him and his church he may not have time to worry about what others are doing…cuz believe me this man has issues!!!
