I don’t think people who get tattoos really care about what they are going to look like in twenty years. They get them as a representation of something that is important to them now.

For someone who is so into tattoos, she sure has had a lot removed or covered up. I recognize a few that are straight off the wall of a tattoo parlor. I think her tatts are ugly only because they are not original, poorly done, and erased. I have tattoos, they are definitely a documentation of my life at the present. I’m all for it. I just couldn’t imagine eradicating part of that documentation. I hate that angelina is "the" example for a tattoooed woman. There are so many better ones out there. She makes tattoos seem trite and cheap. I think she sucks. I normally don’t hate on celebs like this, but this one just got me. The worst insult I ever got about my ink, was that I reminded someone of angelina because of my tattoos. I think she ifs full of ****!

This particular one talked about how the slave women would sneak down to a creek, or fill a wash tub with water, and the purpose was so they could pray to God outloud without an echo giving them away. I just have always thought that to have that kind of faith/belief under the circumstances they were living was amazing, and when I thought of a tat, that’s the first thing that came to me. The rendering is the part that’s proving difficult. I have a brother, and a cousin who are both graphic artists, and I draw a bit, and my mom, but what I want just hasn’t been captured as yet. I am almost positive that each and every time Angie was inked, something significant was happening in her life even though it might be bad or good. But in her mind she was acknowledging and celebrating that moment by getting inked… which is all about feeling. She is a very passionate woman! I have a few and I quite like it.

I think fugly and nicegirl are jealous of the woman who is not afraid to wear her art on her body yet still manages to look so good. The reason her tattoos are famous is because of the woman herself. That is why people are reminded of Angelina when they see a woman with ink. Unless they are tattoo enthusiasts who are quite familiar with ink artists and famous tattooed women, they wouldn’t be interested in details. I bet nicegirl is popular in conventions but out in the real world, people’s interest would only be how much tattoos remind them of the real famous people such as Angelina, who else? It really sucks when you’re not a celebrity but then again, what can you do except suffer for your art in anonimity. Or complain to who would listen coz you’re a nobody.

Not a fan of tatoos but I think Angelina manages to pull them off. It seems AJ’ tattoos have all meanings to her at the time. She had the "wild bird at cage (?)" after she filmed the Girl interrupted - at the time she was so confused with lots of issues. She had her "death in Chi ness character on her left shoulder before she had Mad and then she realized that she did not wish to die anymore so she changed it to prayer for her son. For the tattoo on her lower left hip area, she got it when she was very young and was very drunk (she mentioned in her “inside actors studio” interview), and covered it with big cross. By looking at her tattoos, you can see her history and change from dark and sad girl to woman with purpose and cause to live.

In response to the comments about tattoos looking like crap when you get older: Those kinds of comments are simply ignorant. If you keep your skin out of the sun and keep it moisturized, you might need a touch-up here and there but they should look the same for years. The skin loses elasticity but the tattoos will still be recognizable. People see an old faded tattoo on their grandfather’s arm and don’t take into account that he never protected his skin. My best friend has tattoos from 15 years ago that still look exactly the same because he takes care of them. Anyway, Angelina’s tats are cool and she’s certainly got enough money to have them removed if she changes her mind or they get blurry from sun damage. It’s her business what she wants to do with her body, it’s not like she’s tattooing her kids or something. You Aniston freaks need to get over "the breakup" and stop projecting your life’s disappointments onto people you have never met.
