Ann Curry Interviews Brad Pitt
Something is happening to you. This is not for … you’re doing more and more. Man, I got kids now. And it really changes your perspective on the world. And, you know, I’ve had my day. I’ve had my day. I made some films and I’ve really had a very fortunate life. And it’s time for me to share that a bit.
Angie says that having children really changes things. It’s true. It changes … it completely changes your perspective. And certainly takes the focus off yourself, which I’m really grateful for. [laughs] I’m really grateful to them.
You tell … I’m so tired of thinking about myself. I’m kinda sick of myself… I can’t do justice to it anymore than any other parent can. You feel that you want to be there and you don’t want to miss out on anything… And it’s a true joy. And you want to be there for them if they need anything. It’s a true joy.
Love. Yeah, it’s … oh, a very profound love. Yeah.
Wonderful. Best thing I ever did. You know, you can write a book, you can make a movie, you can draw, paint a painting, but having kids is really the most extraordinary thing I’ve ever taken on. And, man, if I can get a burp out of that, that little thing, I’ll feel such a sense of accomplishment.

Brad Pitt by: Ann Curry
Brad Pitt recently teamed up with the non-profit group Global Green to try and spur green-friendly building in the Crescent City. I’m baffled because the people here on the ground have not gotten the money yet. They have not received restitution.
Nearly a year after Katrina, Brad Pitt sees first hand a city still ravaged. We can get in the car from this spot and we can drive for two hours and you will see this. We will see more of this. And it’s staggering. It’s unsettling.
By some estimates something like half — 50% — of this city is still abandoned. Yeah, it’s shocking. In one of our greatest cities. But you see it, it’s house on top of house on top of car. And this is a story you’ll find street after street… Imagine going through the trauma of this, of watching everything you own be swept away, maybe loss of life, and then sitting in this limbo for a year. Wanting to get your life back. But not knowing whether it’s even possible. Are there gonna be schools here? Are the hospitals gonna be up and running? Are your neighbors gonna be back here?
To this shattered city Pitt is bringing a new idea called green design — that is, a way to rebuild using materials that are less harmful to the environment, and cheaper for people to live in. Right now 45% of our pollution comes from the creation of our buildings and the operation of our buildings, which is a staggering number.
Not only are you talking about it, you put some money into this project? Yeah, sure I’m sponsoring this competition. I’m invested in this competition.
About 100,000 dollars? So far. But my goal is to see something tangible, to see something built that can become an example, a template … a flagship for other people who are facing rebuilding.
What do you say to people who react by thinking, you know what, this type of housing is too far-fetched for people that needed houses yesterday? Absolutely. And building quickly and building with as little labor force as possible. We are sitting here in the middle of New Orleans and they have a shortage of homes, rent rates are through the roof. A family living here is struggling with $100 a month in electricity bills, $200 dollars a month and you can get that .. you can knock that down 90 percent, where it’s $10, $20 dollars and it is possible. And relatively easy as soon as we change our building practices.
Something is happening to you. This is not for … you’re doing more and more. Man, I got kids now. And it really changes your perspective on the world. And, you know, I’ve had my day. I’ve had my day. I made some films and I’ve really had a very fortunate life. And it’s time for me to share that a bit.

What a great interview.
Oh, I am so sad about Bradforums! I only just found that site, and only just registered last week. I enjoyed reading alot of the threads and lurking there, but now I don’t know if I want to participate or not… I, like many of you, was an Angie fan first, and have only taken Brad seriously since he and Angie became an item and are doing such awesome stuff. Are there any "Angie & Brad" sites? If not, I am sure it is only a matter of time before there will be. Oh, and to address this idea that Brad and Angie are only together for the kids… What? And you call us romantics delusional? Do you seriously think these two people live together and don’t love each otehr? That they have totally turned their ives upside down just to be together….. and they don’t love each other…. yeah right, and Micheal Jackson just likes slumber parties, too.I swear, some of the people here who hate Brad and Angie are meaner than a dog shittin’ tacks. Like Brad & Angie, I just am not going to respond to the negativity. I’m all about the luuuuv, baby. And there’s plenty of it in Brad’s face in this interview.
# 123 | we Thanks for the info. Man, I would never ever buy Us Magazine again. What a slant they took - about Brad being sick of himself as everyone is! WTF is that? And yet they still put Brad and Angie on the cover TO SELL THEIR TABLOID CRAP! And all these people who are so sick of Brad and Angie — don’t go to Brad/Angie posts, don’t read any articles about them, change the channel when the entertainment/news shows mention Brad and Angie. It CAN be done. I do it when mention is about Paris H, Lindsay L, Jessica S and Eva Longoria (absolutely can’t stand the latter Bi—). Makes for a lot of remote control manipulation, but it can be done. And I don’t ***** about these women in their threads on any website, because I don’t want to spend time on them. So conversely, for those complaining about Brad and Angie’s exposure (or overexposure, in their words), CHANGE THE CHANNEL OR DON’T READ THE THREADS! Simple!
# 125 I am not going to give magazine that do not respet this couple any time of my day, so I won’t read the article…in us magazine blog some haters are insulting brad and his family!
# 121 | Renee | July 17, 2006 12:24 PMOH! I know who, Jennifer Aniston RIGHT?My god, sometimes I wish BP & JA get together again for JA+HER PR+HER FRIENDS AND THE MOST IMPORTANT…HER HATEFUL FANS, so Angie and her kids can live their life in peace!
Waw, I think Brad really changed a lot. He is now a happy and content man. I admire him for that. I believe Angelina is the woman who he needs and all he needs. Plus their 3 adorable kids. I’m really happy for him.
Yes, it’s sad, and stupid, that some people will come away from this interview with only thoughts of ‘he doesn’t really love Angie’ or that ’she’s had enough of him.’ Are some people really so hardwired for gossip, that they completely ignore the plight of the citizens of NO, and instead focus on such inane thoughts? Reminds me of Angie’s interview with AC, and some people seemed to have a greater problem with the syntax of her sentences, rather than the enormity of the suffering of the refugees. I totally applaud Brad’s efforts in what he is doing in NO, andelsewhere. He may not be coiffed and tanned to within an inch of his life, but he’s obviously got his priorities in order, and all themore gorgeous for it. I really loved when he said ‘if I can get that little thing to burp, I get such a sense of accomplishment.’ That’sa hands-on dad for you! Can’t wait to see the other part of the interview tomorrow.
I don’t go to the sites where the majority of the posters routinely trash Brad 7 Angie either. I figure I am not going to change anybody’s mind, and it will only frustrate me, and I don’t need the negative vibes, man… I figure the whole story will unfold over time, and it will be a good one.I am glad Brad and Angie aren’t playing tonsil hockey for the cameras. It shows alot of class, but that’s just my opinion. I am sure they get freaky in the bedroom quite regularly.
# 123 | we | - That is why I called them last week and cancelled my subscription and I got all my money back, pure trash US Magazine
May I know where I can read the full interview online? Anyone can help me with this? Thank you in advance.
he is supppeeeer hot!!!!!!!!!
Missed the interview but I love hearing about people growing and doing positive things. Great Job Brad
Seeing guys like Brad, Ben Affleck, Heath Ledger and Ryan Phillippe looking haggard and worn out from hands on daddy duty warms my heart! And this interview actually brought tears to my eyes. I love the kind of man he’s becoming. Next time some jerk wants to complain about Hollywood activists, I think I’ll figuratively puch their lights out. What Brad and others are doing is an embarrassment to the bureaucrats and politicians who seem to seek and hold office for its own sake. Public office is a stewardship not an ego trip. And Brad and Angie and lots of others are creating a sense of activism among their fans. It’s all good.
# 135 | anon9 You can watch the interview too. But I suppose if you want to read the whole interview, there is probably a transcript of the whole show at the Today Show’s Website. Also, did someone that there is a second part to this interview? I think someone mentioned that.
Heath Ledger..omg this man looks really old now!!and he is so young…he is getting bald!
Wouldn’t it be funny if US Magazines sales actually dropped when they run negative and fake articles about Angie and Brad? haha!!US and the other rags are only resorting to making up stuff because they can’t get anyone, let alone Angie and Brad, to give them anything.Like I said, time will tell this love story. And if we ever do get an interview of them togehter, the sparks and attraction will be apparent. I could even see it in the Namibia press conference right after Shiloh was born. They were both just glowing. Nothing does that to person…. except being deliriously happy. Neither one of them have had a glow like this before. It’s luuuuuuv, ya’ll! hee hee!!Love is in the air….
# 139 | syd | - Yes the second part of the interview is tomorrow
Welcome back J@ared! we missed ya! thanks for the new pics.People have commented on Brad saying exactly what Angie said before. Well that’s because its the truth and they think alike too. What they both are saying (which is the same thing) applies to refugees, applies to Katrina, applies to poverty etc…. As for the comments of him just loving the kids and not Angie I think that’s a bit crazy really. They live together, he barps and takes care of the kids, they are parenting together how much more loving should it be? We are not in their bedroom or their house to see them kissing and hugging but I believe they do that very often. They have held hands in public and franckly I’m glad that they show little PDA in public, that way they have thier "special" thing that the public doesn’t get to see. They are now grown with big responsibilities to themselves, thier kids and their causes. Stuff like we should have PDA in public i’m sure are of not importance to them at all as should be the case.I love both Brad and Angie, they are doing a great job and are such great role models.
# 142 | Alexanderina Thanks. But I won’t be able to watch it then either but I can count on Jared. :)
I have loved Brad since IWTV. Yes, he was a pretty boy but so what? Who wants to look at the boy next door on the movie screen and pay $10 for it? Even when he tried to look his worse ie. Kalifornia, Snatch, still pretty. Now the last few movies – Oceans, Troy – still pretty, BUT changing. And now, NOW, I see it. He has changed. I can see past the pretty boy or Ken doll or arm candy as someone alerted to before. He is so much more than just a handsome face. He looks and acts like a real man. And that is shocking to most women as we don’t see that very often as you can tell by some of the posts we have to endure. This is a real man who goes after what he wants, a man who is through with searching about life and what it takes to be happy. And being happy includes burping his baby. Here is a man who could have any woman or man if he desired, but he would rather play with Mad and Z. IMO a real man does more than provide financially for his family, he is there emotionally and physically. I am really jealous of Angie. Actually, sometimes I am just as jealous of Brad – LOL Not really jealous but you know what I mean….# 130 | gilly | July 17, 2006 12:40 PM – I am confused? What are you talking about?
The interview is on the youtube on top with Ms. Reed.
Oh, I just gotta say, most men (at least the heterosexual ones, anyway) are not worth a good goddamn until they are 40 anyway. It’s true! It takes most of them that long to figure things out and "get sick of themselves" as Brad said. There’s something about a man who has reached this milestone in life that is too sexaaay. It’s the self-assurance, the confidence, and just the knowledge that comes from living enough years to know it is and is not that you want out of life.Brad wasn’t happy before, for whatever reason, and he made a change and went after what he wanted. That’s sexy. I look at him now and just go, "Yeah….now that’s a MAN!" A real man. I love the way that men age. My husband was very handsome in his 20’s when we married, but now that he’s 44 and has that grey around the temples and those lines around his eyes, he’s even more beautiful to me. So those of you calling Brad old and such, well….. you just need a little more life experience before you can appreciate this fully.
THANK YOU JARED FOR 2 NEW THREADS…now I have to go back and forth to keep up….this one already over 100 posts…goodness…reading backward again *sighed*.Goodmorning ladies, how is everyone this morning, a little of a out of topic…one of my best friend had just told me that his whole family is now trapped in Lebanon, the route to get out is not easy if you are not an american citizens and even his sister with 2 children, who are american Citizens, still have problem getting out, the American ambassy is closed and the aiport is also closed, the only way out is by car or train, they are pretty much on their own…they have evacuated many people to the countryside….please a little prayers for everyone over there…
People we really need to just ignore the negative lurkers, there are alot of unhappy people in the world and certain sites cater to them.Brad has said he was sick of himself many times, even when married to X.This couple will never discuss their personal life and I don’t blame them.No matter what they say or do haters will find fault. This is what I find funny in this weeks People X’s friend’s go on and on about how she and VV will not show PDA in public because of the paparazzi.Brad and Angelina are carrying around three kids but X fan’s scream no PDA they don’t love each other! Why would a couple carring 3 kid’s around be playing tonsil hockey?I’m very sure when the kid’s are in bed they take care of business!
Love him…He looks mature, he is doing a great job. Of course he loves Angie. Why some of you doubt about that?…Angie is a very lucky girl, nad Brad is a very lucky man….
