I like BAMZS but I don’t feel compelled to make anyone like them. That being said, this is what I think of comparing actresses.If we were perfectly logical beings, we would say "Yes, opinions/values/beliefs are relative" and be able to respect others opinions/values/beliefs. However, how many times has that actually worked in the real-world. Most of the time an argument goes like this:Person A: "X is better than Y"Person B: "X is better than Y is just your opinion"Person A: "X is better than Y is my opinion, but my opinion is right"We are more emotional beings than logical beings, every thought form we create has a physical form and is intimately intertwined with our emotions and becomes a part of our being and our mind, hence why we so vehemently oppose those opinions/values/beliefs that differ with ours.When somebody criticises your opinion/values/beliefs, you feel like you are being attacked and are compelled to retaliate or go on the defensive, this is because you really are being attacked those neural pathways in your brain that physically represent your thoughts are being undermined and this elicits an equal and opposite reaction - in other words our rebuttal e.g. "X sucks" will be retaliated with "No, Y sucks" It is very similar to the physical process where you are wounded and immediately the body reacts to heal those wounds.This is why people can die for their beliefs and have since the beginning of time, their beliefs represents a huge part of them. It is only natural for people to defend their opinions/values/beliefs. This can be very trival disagreements on blogs on actors and films, or much more severe disagreements between societies.Especially when you are talking to a fan - bear this in mind, that whatever the subject of their adoration, it has become a significant part of their being. If you attack their subject of adoration, it is automatically an attack against them.
