OlderLance Bass: GAY!
Lance Bass, the former ‘N Sync heartthrob, reveals that he is gay, in an exclusive interview with People.
"I knew that I was in this popular band and I had four other guys’ careers in my hand, and I knew that if I ever acted on it or even said (that I was gay), it would overpower everything," says Bass, referring to bandmates Joey Fatone, Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, and Justin Timberlake.
"I didn’t know: Could that be the end of ’N Sync? So I had that weight on me of like, ‘Wow, if I ever let anyone know, it’s bad.’ So I just never did," he says speaking about his sexual orientation for the first time with People.
Now, after years of keeping his personal life private, the Mississippi-bred, Southern Baptist-reared Bass, 27, is publicly revealing what he first shared with his friends, then his shocked family.
"He took years to really think about how he was going to tell everyone," says his close buddy Fatone, 29, who was the first ‘N Sync bandmate to find out Bass is gay. "I back him up 100 percent." Adds Bass’s longtime pal, actress Christina Applegate: "I’ve always accepted him as who he is. It’s about his own serenity at this point."
Having pursued acting, producing and – most memorably – space flight after ’N Sync went on hiatus in 2002, Bass now is looking ahead to new beginnings. He is in a "very stable" relationship with model-actor-Amazing Race winner Reichen Lehmkuhl, 32, and is developing an Odd Couple-inspired sitcom pilot with Fatone in which his character will be gay.
Mostly, though, he’s just enjoying the relief that comes with the culmination of a long, at times emotionally fraught journey.
"The thing is, I’m not ashamed – that’s the one thing I want to say," he explains of his decision to come out. "I don’t think it’s wrong, I’m not devastated going through this. I’m more liberated and happy than I’ve been my whole life. I’m just happy."
As for why he’s talking about this now Bass says, "The main reason I wanted to speak my mind was that (the rumors) really were starting to affect my daily life. Now it feels like it’s on my terms. I’m at peace with my family, my friends, myself and God so there’s really nothing else that I worry about."
No official word on the nose yet but it’s official, Lance Bass is gay. I’m sure this will come as a shock to a lot of you but how many of you have known for years? Lance and Reichen were walking around together in public as early as two months ago… but with a two-girl buffer between them, Jamie Lynn DiScala being one of them.

His own terms??? NOPE!!! He was outed and it was not his own terms….I agree that there was alot of pressure for him to come out. However, I think that he was a point in his life where he felt comfortable enough with himself to publicly come out. I don’t doubt that the pressure from Notorious Outer Perez Hilton, the internet rumors, media and such motivated his decision.Now when the hell are the other actors, actresses singers coming out?….Why is it necessary to know "who is or isn’t gay in Hollywood"? For fodder? Actors, actresses, singers, etc. are entertainers. What entitles the public to know about their private lives?HE IS ANOTHER MEDIA *****!….People magazine is in the business of peddling gossip. This is a sensational story, even if so many people suspected Lance was gay. LB picked a big enough forum for his announcement. And now he go about living w/o the constant attention from Perez and other outers.

i loove lance. i met him this past may in las vegas. club tao, which is better than pure! anyway he’s such a sweetheart! i wish him all the best and love him just the same as before. also, i didn’t see this coming at all lol. he hid that extremely well. i hope there’s a movie about his life haha. i’m curious to watch nsync’s reaction and all the drama that went with hiding it during nsync’s domination era. :P

It’s not surprising but I am very devastated by this news. I have been a fan of Nsync since I was 12 years old and in the 6th or 7th grade and now I am still a fan at 20 years old. I was so in love with Lance and now I’m still one of his biggest fans and in a way I’m very happy for him but I’m also like I said extremely devastated. I wish him the best but he really needs to get someone hotter. That guy isn’t the best looking. Lance is built and muscley and gorgeous while the other guy is tall and looks like a dolce and gabbana model. I also wonder like everyone else what the other guys think about this and which one he liked. Sometimes you don’t like your friends even though they are the same sex as you. Sorry I’m ranting. Go Lance. I’m so happy for you and i wish your hot sexy ass good luck.
i think it is great that he has come out.not just because of who he is but because of the relief he must have now from keeping this for so long.i wish him the best and can only hope he can live a normal life.

I think im the only one on here that didnt know he was. lance was like my favorite guy outta the whole band n i refuse to believe it till i c him kiss his "boyfriend". he always lookd straight to me. my sister kept tell in that he is but i refused to believe it. n its tuff for someone that liked him as much as i did to believe it. n the only way im goin to is if i c a pic or video of him kissin reichen

Look, Lance Bass has been gay for 3 years but he’s never been dressing in drag before.
