Poor Mel? You’ve gotta be kidding? The man is a ******* bigot…. it was only a matter of time before he revealed his true colors..

NOw, if only Lady O could get drunk and tell us how she realy feels about people who are NOT RICH.were are the family? thier father is going Nuts and they aren’t helping him?some times i wonder whats the point of havinga family?

================== Mel’s career over? I don’t think so! Everybody wants to crucify him now! Hollywood (mostly Jews) is just jealous because "Passion of the christ" made so much money, and he Didn’t need any help from them to do it! Nobody in Hollywood backed him up, but he did it on his own! So he made a mistake? He is human, and he has apologized! Just another day in the craziness that is Hollywood.

not a normal day @ 08/01/2006 at 12:09 am

The fact that he is an alcholic and is trying to get better can be forgiven, but the remarks he made about Jews is not something that should be disguised as "another day in hollywood". Mel has been rumored to have anti-semetic views for a long time and now we can see them for ourselves. Unless he changes the hate he holds inside of him, people should not dismiss this any old day in hollywierd. I won’t write his career off, but I do think the man has some serious issues that he needs to deal with, and I’m not talking just about the alcoholism.

Passing Through @ 08/01/2006 at 12:14 am

Hey Cliniqua - Did you see JJ’s bit on the cover where the Star has MG’s rep saying he’s entered rehab? What a shock! Lay low so he doesn’t have to do any explanatory interviews and hope it all blows over! NOT!

Yeah I saw that PT…Mel’s idea of rehab, is a few visits to his own Catholic sanctuary where he re-baptizes himself in holy water. Dude is NOT going to Hazelten or Betty Ford…he’ll be right in his own wacky compound with his 127 spawn placing cool cloths on his forehead and bathing his feet. 2-3 days at the most, then his "rehab," is over. Heh.

He apologized - he was drunk - he lost control - he apologized — forgive - 70 times 7 — he who is without sin cast the first stone — CLINIQUA thinks its her — ha ha ha ha - and she is serious — when you are blind you really are blind.

Breaking NewsMel Gibson In Rehab for AlcoholismMONDAY JULY 31, 2006 05:25PM ESTBy Michael Fleeman and Ken LeeMel GibsonPhoto by: Peter Kramer / STAR MAX Mel Gibson has sought treatment for alcoholism, his rep, Alan Nierob, tells PEOPLE. "He definitely entered a program," said Nierob, who wouldn’t identify or describe the program or say how long Gibson planned to be there. Gibson was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Malibu early Friday morning. On Saturday, he issued a statement apologizing for his behavior after the arrest. The Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department turned its case over to the district attorney Monday. The DA’s office is now reviewing the information to determine whether to press charges. Controversy erupted this weekend over allegations that the Sheriff’s Department sanitized an arrest report containing anti-Semitic and sexist remarks that Gibson allegedly made while in custody. DA spokesperson Jane Robison tells PEOPLE, "We believe we received a complete report, but can’t comment on the details of it." An arraignment is set for Sept. 28. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Disney said Monday that the studio plans to release Gibson’s latest film, Apocalypto, as scheduled on Dec. 8. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I wonder if he is at PROMISES. I think it’s in Malibu. That’s where Ben Affleck and Charlie Sheen did their rehab at.

how is it********* jews**Anti-semi?If he said>i hate all jews people and i would like to kill them>that would be a Anti-semi>******* jews..is not a Anti-semiFucking muslims..Not anti-islamFucking christians>not anti-christains.I hate Jews>>IS- anti-semi**I hate Muslims>IS- anti-islam**I hate christians>IS-anti-christians*

HAHAH.I love how every Jewish person on the planet is all over the supposed hearsay of anti-semetic remarks. You realize that first Hollywood tried to rake him over the coals because he made his movie outside their boundaries and had factually based (as factual as religion can be) harsh potrayals of Jewish people thousands of years ago. Now…this much time passes and BAM! They take their shot again at slandering him.Give up the agenda guys. It’s really ******* old and does more harm than good. It’s not backwards to dismiss rumous or something that might have been said. Whatever. The guy kicks ass and is richer than Mexico.Looking forward to Apocalytpo!

Love children @ 08/01/2006 at 1:09 am

Mel saying "******* Jews" … BADJews killing innocent Lebanese children … WORSER than WORST!

Mark, you got it all wrong. Only the media is bashing Mr. Gibson right now. As long as he can bring in the big bucks at the box office, his career is fine. But I suspect that when camera stops rolling, he is going to be pretty lonely. No one is going to invite him to parties, lunches, etc., because they don’t know what he will do next. And if he talks that way about Jews, what does he say about Hispanics, Afro-Americans, and Asians when no one is looking?!!!! No, it’s too risky. Perhaps rehab will help him. That would be great.

Get over it ppl… saying something against Christianity or Islam is not being anti-anything, but the second something is said about Jews, its anti-Semetic… seriously referring to his comments that "Jews are the one’s starting wars all over the world" is what everyone has been thinking but has kept quiet about… Christians are pawns of Jews… its all leading up to the coming of Jesus… Israel can be an aggressor, kill, kidnap, raid, rape Palestinians on a daily basis, and its never reported in the jewish US media. But the second a jew dies or is kidnapped, all hell breaks loose…

He probably freaked out when the new war in the Middle East started, got in a deep depression and then started to drink again. There are a lot of "end times" people out there who are saying that everything that’s happening now is written in Revelations. As a strict Catholic Mel probably noticed this as well and went off. Yeah his career, as we know it is over. He may do other things later on but he will always be a sad & pathetic figure.

Oh well.. @ 08/01/2006 at 1:23 am

This justjared blog is a microcosm of the world at large — just read the hate and blindness on the various threads - put a gun in the hands of people like Cliniqua and her minions and we would all see Anti-Christ in action - her anger and pain is palpable - wonder who hurt her. Instead of encouraging her on this despicable path true supporters would redirect her talent as a writer into more wholesome endeavours - and she does have a talent - I for one would love to see her rise to a higher plane and bring her glassy eyed followers with her.

#30 Disc — I agree with the content of your post. I do want to make one small observation though and for a reason — if you will notice you mentioned that the writer believed Jesus tortured people when she actually said that some wouldn’t recognise christ-likeness if Jesus tutored them himself (paraphrase) — I mention this only because if she comes back with a response she will no doubt fixate on the one error in your post totally disregarding the truth of the rest of of what you wrote. She is pretty predictable and as irrational as are those who defend and idolize her. The saddest thing is that she has an imature, selective knowledge of Christianity and I wonder if she sees herself as putting forth a Christ-like persona. That being said, she can on occasion make intelligent observations and remarks about varied subjects and she has a talent for writing even though her thoughts and words take her into the gutter.

What if he didn’t say it? I mean maybe he did but there’s no proof, the sherriffs dept have emphatically denied that they sanitised the arrest report - I mean when did the media become so trustworthy and squeaky clean - when did we start going ok some hack somewhere, says its so, so it is?? Really half these posts read like the modern equivalent of a lynch mob, guilty till proven innocent on the say so of a news media that will make anything up to sell paper or score a rating - dats just plain scary ****.

Israel just murdered 60 people in Lebanon. 36 of them were children. Are you saying that the press in US didn´t write about that? People in europe are furious to say the least. And to be frank, every one are wondering why US is so cautious about their comments. Israel are slaugthering people out there and that´s a fact. Mel´s career is hardly over. He has his own points of views and a that makes his movies very unique. That´s always interesting. I hope he´ll battle his alcoholism and continue making great movies. Can´t wait to see Apocalypto.

#35 Anna — I seem to recall reading that he was video taped and actually saw himself in action on the tapes when sober - he was also on audio tape. However, he was really drunk and out of control - he does have a problem with alcohol and admits it — I do not believe that a sober rational Mel Gibson wouldsay and do what he is accused of. I think he is mortified and this woke him up enough to put him back in rehab and apologize — the apology should be accepted I believe it was sincere.

There’s a saying how drunk people and kids always speak the truth so he apparently hates Jews. I also read an interview that his father denies the holocaust and that Mel Gibson believes everything his father says. So … hmmm, not being a Jew myself but a citizen of the world makes me believe that the Gibsons aren’t nice people.

bandicoot @ 08/01/2006 at 5:15 am

^^^^I’m not advocating hate, but so what if he hates jews? it’s not like he hates puppies. israel is murdering innocent children in Lebanon and if the U.S. wasn’t so far up their ass, then we would condemn their attacks and even perhaps take military action (but wait, they don’t have any oil wells do they?) so bush won’t speak out against them, and when this whole debacle started weeks ago, bush had a chance to denounce their actions but he wouldn’t (while practically every other leader at the G8 summit in Russia did). Bush and his America have no shame.

lurpac - now here is someone who has some sense.. how nice to read something right on this hate-filled site. Cliniqua is one screwed up, hate-filled bigot. Just like a lot of other people I could mention on here. Try sucking it up and thinking nice thoughts for a change folks.

MEL YOUR WERE THE BEST AND YOU STILL NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY

I totaly agree with you bandicoot you’re absolutely right, and mel just said the truth, it’s actually what is hapening in the world.

This is the thread more interesting that jj has published since 1 year, i hope that jj continue on this route. Now for the topic Mel has wronged and is right that he went in rehab. He has wronged to drive booze because he can kill someone and hurt oneself. as well as his comments are out line

I lost respect for Mel Gibson along time ago when I found out he was a racist. I’m glad he got a good shot of humble pie to go along with his mug shot.It took being arrested on drunken driving charges, making anti-Semitic remarks, and threatening a deputy law enforcement official. Its a shame that his behavior just now catching up with him. He disgrace himself, family, friends, co-workers and fans, now I feel only pity for this man. He has a problem with alcohol and it clouds his better judgement, I wish him well on his road to recovery and maybe someday Mel can put his millions to good use for humanity instead of spewing hate.I guess Mel won’t be looking at any jail time theres always a different set of laws for the rich and famous.

Wow, such forgiveness, for someone who wouldn’t hesitate to slur entire groups of people, and harbors bigotry against anyone who id’s as a jew, or a woman (OR, I guess most of you character-LESS wingnuts think it’s perfectly okay for your daughters, sisters, mothers, and wives to be called "sugar tits" on the job - yet another wack sick statement that came out of this piece of ***** mouth) - look, the jig is up….your holy Mel Gibson who made that WWF version of Jesus, has revealed himself to be the black-hearted waste of space that he is. t’s okay he’s still got 750 million dollars and 127 kids, he can go buy a small isalnd somewhere and make himself King of the drunk religious epithet spewing male chauvinst swines. Hypocrites.

45 | CLINIQUA I really liked your posts even back in BPC and the other brangelina boards but reading your personal opinion, although you´re entitled to it, all I can say it´s that I feel a bit disapointed by your extreme comments about MG. Yes he made mistakes, but who is entitled to throw the first stone? He said things he shouldn´t have said under the influention of alchool, he recognized he had a problem and he apologized. i´m sorry, but that of cruxifiction seems a bit hatefull for me. I guess, unfortunnatelly he gave his haters a reason to start attacking him for something his movie somehow touched a hidden spot. Otherwise that movie wouldn´t have so many haters.JIMHO.Give him a break. Like you have neven commited any mistakes!

jews are killers, they killed children women in paletine and lebanon, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE DO YOU HAVE ANY SENSE, CHILDREN ARE KILLED BY JEWS IN LEBANON,

CLININCA, I AM SORRY BUT ……. **** YOU ! AND ONE MORE THING jesus WAS NOT A JEW !!!

#45 Cliniquayour holy Mel Gibson who made that WWF version of JesusJus my last one about this as I overlooked it on my post above:With this comment Cliniqua, you do seem to hate someone or something and it´s not Mel Gibson. You´re just using an excuse to ven your hate. I hope you do come back to your usual rational standpoints. It´s very disapointing to see a comment like this one about that movie. In case you didn´t get it, you´re now supporting the most stupid thing which is a religious war.Have a nice day.

He looks like Osama Bin Laden in those last pictures. This guy has some serious issues. Feel bad for his kids……

#46, Lina - we throw stones every day — and for a LOT LESS than what Gibson has revealed himself for. You know, once upon a time a man named Rodney King was high and got pulled over -and I sure didn’t see millions of non-black people wondering why a simple DUI turned into an excuse to nearly kill a man. But somehow Gibson’s DUI not only is immediately dismissed (nevermind the fact that he could have killed innocent people), but also his racist and sexist comments are overlooked and forgiven. Since when did having one too many tequilas become the equivalent of ‘temporary insanity?’ Uh, excuse me - but Andrea Yates is insane, Mel is not. Last time I looked, if you got high before you committed a crime, that doesn’t EXCUSE or EXPLAIN the criminal behavior - likewise, the statements uttered while committing it. Most rapists have a few drinks too before they commit their acts of violence against a women, and I’m sure they say some sick and disgusting things - however a defense attorney won’t use a 6-pack as a rationale for a lesser sentence. What is wrong with you people? I’ve almost gotten a sense that some of Mel’s more holier fans, think the arresting officer was in the wrong. Now that’s REALLY special, a hard working man doing his job, scraping by on less than 30K, bears the brunt of their wrath for writing a report that exposes the racist, sexist, anti-semite almost billionaire. ….and people wonder why our society is so fucked up and full of inequity. This is a prime example. That’s right keep turning a blind’s eye to the working class and rolling out the red carpet and the throne to the Mel Gibson’s of the world - it’s one reason, why you’ve got a barely literate former drunk oil and gas baron and his buddies running the govt and ignoring foreign policy RIGHT NOW. If Jesus stepped off the cross today, and needed health care in George Bush’s so-called ‘Christian’ America, he’d just be **** out of luck with the rest of the non-millionaires and non-Gibsons. But sure…forgive Mel of his sins….and I expect you to do the same for the next creep who does something vile after a few beers.

lastcall4alcohol @ 08/01/2006 at 7:20 am

With all this nonsense about Mad Mel he should have been born a Jew. Since Mad Mel checked himself into rehab his punishment should be to be locked in the TV room and watch Clean and Sober for the rest of his rehab visit.

# 36 | curly****************Hey curly - why are you equating Israel, to all ‘Jews?’ In case you didn’t know, Jews have been around LONGER than Christians, and Mel slurred them ALL, not just the 21st century Israeli govt (a country that’s only been in existence for about 4o years as I understand it)…in other words, your comparison, is kind of like someone who goes around slurring ALL black people calling them the n-word, and justifies it by saying ‘well, blacks are responsible for most of the crime in the U.S.’ Is that okay with you too?? How about if I went around and slurred ALL white men, and called them ‘evil perverts,’ because the profile of most child molesters are white males? According to the same logic you’re using for Mel, all of those statements work and make sense - right?? If Mel had went off on a government, or even Israelis that would have been totally different than what he did - which was SLUR, and CONDEMN everyone from Jesus, to Einstein, to Natalie Portman. It’s also just one more reason how you can explain the death of 6 million people in the 20th century, and how it happened so easily. Give yourselves a hand, for creating an atmosphere and attitude where it could happen again - and not just to whatever your concept of ‘jew,’ is — but to anyone who doesn’t look like you and espouse your beliefs.

CLINIQUA, it’s not the same logic here, all jews are supporting Israel. And you know what they are so dam racist, that’s why they kill muslims people in lebanon and palestine.

When you guys talk about other people in such a low life manner like calling names it is sooo very disappointing, no matter how well spoken ,written, educated you are proves nothing !it is in the way you carry your self off to others, I like Jared sense of humor putting pic up of mel that look like Saddam, My friend who is a united church minister told me that when Mel was young he was beaten to a pulp and his face dismembered, live in a hospital for a year, his face being completly disfigured he no one would hire him, he was like this for over two years, homeless walked into a catholic church and started to recieve counselling from the priest, the priest told Mels story to a friend that attened his church, Australia’s top plastic surgen, The good doc agreed to help Mel for freeI do not know if this story is true or not,

# 51 | CLINIQUA FYI Cliniqua, no I do not think Mel´s arrest was wrong, so stop with the sarcasm please. And by comparing Mer´s behaviour to more dangerous ones does not validate your arguments, actually you do post a lot of hate in your message. For someone who is so concerned with racism, xenophobe messages, you´re definitelly showing the oposite.

# 51 | CLINIQUA And FYI, I´m not American. So many things you talk do not used them indirectly against me. I couldn´t care less of what´s happening in your country. But I do care that innocent people is dying no matter whose the fault is.

Comedy Central needs to re-air South Park’s episode The Passion of the Jew. Seems Trey & Matt had Mel pegged ages ago.And to the person who said Jesus wasn’t a Jew, you need to go back to Sunday School. Yes, dahlin’ he was.

# 36 | curlyITA with you curly! Finally someone who posted something rational around here and sticking only to the facts.

Lurpac - if that is the case then fair enough, but I didn’t think any of that was public domain, the coverage i saw suggested that this had all come from reporters saying that was the case, I mean if their was audio and video evidence in circulation - I’m surprised we haven’t seen it, the net being pretty good at getting this stuff out fast. He was drunk, he has problems, he clearly needs to work on that stuff and he has apologised etc etc and checked himself into rehab - but I still don’t believe there is evidence other than what a few journalists are claiming and accusing the sheriffs dept of not releasing, with regards to the anti-semitism - and I don’t believe the news media any more - they’ve made too much stuff up to many times, sorry. That’s not specific to Gibson, I take all celebrity coverage with a pinch of …. I have no problem with accepting his apology I’m just questioning the accuracy of all that is alleged because I know how the media exaggerates and twists everything these day. They can say or do pretty much what they want, I mean who are the media accountable to? and everyone believes it - likes it’s 100% gospel.

creativegirl @ 08/01/2006 at 8:52 am

In a world where the president can get blow jobs from some bimbo in the white house and still be hailed as a great president - where a socialite can become even more famous for making a porno movie with her boyfriend - where drugged out movie stars can make glorious comebacks and two-bit actresses can get in car wrecks and run wild - Mel will be just fine. He’s got bazillions of dollars and even if he never makes another movie again, he’ll be just fine. He doesn’t need Hollywood to do his things, but they sure need him, so he’ll be fine.

Mel opened up his mouth and his brains fell out. That’s life!! People get drunk and say ’stupid’ things. My uncle use to get drunk and tell my aunt he hated her guts, yet he loved her to death. When she died, he was never the same. He never hit her, but when he got drunk, everyone left the room, let him sober up and that was that. Mel has a problem he needs to address. As far as this war with Lebanon is concerned, why does the US continue to send arms to Israel? The President tells Iran to stop sending arms to Lebanon, but we continue to send arms to Israel? WHY? Everytime a gun is found by a captured or killed Israeli, the gun says, "Made in the USA". WE, the American people pay, because all the Muslim Fanatics think we support the killing. WE PAY!! This war started over two captured soldiers, and innocent young people in Lebanon are being killed? WHY? I guess Mel woke up saw the news, got a bit drunk and it’s the first thing that came out of his mouth. I’m not making excuses for him, but he’s not the first person who opened his mouth and got knocked for it. Is Mel’s career over, NO!! He can produce and distribute his own films. Rumour in Hollywood was that Steven Spielberg wasn’t given an Academy Award until he made Scendler’s (spelling) list because he was Jewish. They tried not to give him one for a long time, but could not not give it to him for SL. Hollywood is about money. As long as Mel brings in the money, people will forget. That’s just the way it is. Mel needs to get a driver!!!

# 33 | lurpac You know lurpac, unfortunatelly today I realized you are right about Cliniqua. I guess I didn´t want to see that someone who actually makes very valid points on another matter, can literally blows everything with so full-hated comments about another issue. I for one, will definitelly see her with other eyes everytimes she posts on B&A. Who would say someone can disapoint you this way? Geeez, i´t seems a commond trend lately amidst someBAMZS fans. Some, because not everyone is so full of hate and pain who comes here to spill it like she did. Have a nice day everyone! Now I´m definitelly going. I need more positive things far from all this hate for someone whom unfortunatelly relapsed.

#67 Thank-you

#68. Several of my friends who happen to be Jewish went to see "Passion" and they didn’t think it was anti-semi either. One of the actresses in the movie is Jewish herself and said she would not have been part of the movie if she felt it was. We must all remember something as well, Jewish is not a ‘Nationality’, it’s a religion. Why is it that some Jewish people say, "I’m Jewish", but never "I’m American, Canadian, English", etc? Not all Jews in American support Israel. They don’t like the way the Israelis have treated the Palestians and they also are not looked at by the Israelis as "real" Jews. I don’t get it, but this is what my Jewish friends tell me. SAD, VERY SAD.

remember da truth @ 08/01/2006 at 9:47 am

Anna, I know it’s difficult to believe that people you like can do bad things, but this is NOT the media saying it. The police refused to release it BECAUSE he said those things and then the media accused them of favoritism and they released it. It’s the POLICE, if you actually read something besides celeb sites and learn the difference between journalism and gossip. Being drunk is no excuse — it shows what’s really on your mind. And it’s been known in Hollywood for a long, long time about mel’s bigotry. Cliniqua is being attacked here by people who don’t like her on other threads, and have shown how loony they are elsewhere. Cliniqua is passionate, but ALWAYS speaks the truth, backs her facts up, and if you don’t like her facts, like Anna doesn’t like hearing that Mel actually said those things, then you don’t like Cliniqua. Tough — she’s dead-on right.Cliniqua has not shown herself to be anti-Christian, but very pro-Christian. She is pointing out the hypocrites who will act like bigoted, judgemental, Golden Rule-breaking jerks and then say they are Christian, they couldn’t possibly be bad people, like having said that jesus is your personal saviour gives you a free pass. No it doesn’t and Mel is EVIL, Christian or not. His supporters who use being Christian as an excuse for all bigotry are also EVIL, and worse, they are subverting a religion to justify their black hearts. The war in Lebanon has nothing to do with whether or not Mel Gibson is a bigot. Even he realized that he should have kept those thoughts to himself because while he believes them, they are NOT ACCEPTABLE. When sober, he shuts up, except when saying he won’t disagree with his father who said the Jews made the Holocaust up and it never happened. THAT is why people know that he meant every subtext of how Passion made jews look so bad. As a director and writer, you can make any scene look a thousand different ways even with the same actions and words. He chose to pain the Jews in the worst light possible, and spoke badly about Jews before the release, He has spoken in misogynistic terms for years, saying a woman should stay home and spit out babies and obey her husband. Tom Cruise seems to dominate Katie Holmes and people make fun of it, but no one said anything about Mel Cruise because for the most part, he kept his thoughts off the radar screen. Drunk, he lets it all out

To Lina, and lurpac - I’m convinced you’re at home right now watching the 700 Club…and yeah, I’d say the same damn things to your face maria - just be thankful you won’t ever have to find out - and I’ll be thankful I won’t ever have to see your face.

Cliniqua-I usually support what you write but this time you took it too far. You have every right to express your opinion but atleast don’t do it in such a deragtory and offensive way. You don’t have to like Mel, hell you can hate him for all I care, but next time when you want to express your opinion, try be less offensive. If had said what you wanted to say without offending everyone, your opinions would have sounded more reasonable.

Thanks rdt #73 - your pov is very much appreciated - you summed my position up on all this, and also clearly got to the heart of the matter - Mel Gibson himself knows what he said was ugly and despicable. Those of you on this list who don’t AGREE W/ HIM - will have to look in the mirror and ask yourselves why.

I completely echo what Remember da truth said. Cliniqua is very passionate and people are attacking her becasue she is so blunt and they don’t like her from other threads. When you throw in race and religion, things get rather spicy, especially on a message board when much is lost in tone and inflection. People go off on all kinds of tangents that don’t have anything to with the subject at hand. Everyone just needs to step back and take a deep breath.

Thank jj this thread become every minute more interesting than other. After thread about Brad, Angelina, Lindsay, Paris and other celebrities, finally a thread where the discussion is high. Mel has wronged, drive booze is stupid, can kill someone and hurt oneself. For his comments the alcohol can make you tell what that you neither think. This isn’t justify Mel, how i have said he has wonged and his comments are hateful, but the crucifix seem me too much

just asking @ 08/01/2006 at 10:16 am

Mel Gibson is being criticized because he supposedly said "******* Jews". I agree that he made a mistake and this should not be taken lightly? However, I cannot understnad why no single Jew (e.g. Natalie Portman) has come out and condemn the murderous behavior of their Israeli brothers who are now on a rampage killing innocent children in Lebanon? Why is the ADL condemning Mel for a racist comment and yet ignoring the evil acts and atrocities committed by Jews of Israel in Lebanon?just asking….

Jesus was Jewish @ 08/01/2006 at 10:36 am

# 47 | jen Whoever said Jesus was not a Jew is also drunk. Where did you get your Theological degree, The Disney Institute? Mel has seven children.

Just asking, I read that he said more than that, even asked the arresting cop if he was Jewish. Alcohol only amplifies who you really are.

Thanks #79 i don’t remember exactly the number of the children.

Just Jared fan @ 08/01/2006 at 10:56 am

mell is all over the news, I have know idea whats in his mind but his movies are epic, and I loved Brave heart, The Passion was intense for me I fast forward all the bloody parts, the end of the movie when Mary says to jesus (my flesh of flesh, my heart of hearts let me die with you!) broke me down and I cried like a baby

# 80 | dragonfly Alcohol only amplifies who you really are.I don’t think this, alcohol make tell you anything and time you don’t think neither the half of what you say.

conspiracy theory @ 08/01/2006 at 11:07 am

I think Mel Gibson staged his own arrest by the LA police. He made sure that the incident will become a BIG news … and he succeeded. Now everybody knows that he has a forth coming movie the "ACALYPTO".

Well anonimo, I say that because you tend to drop your inhibitions and you don’t edit yourself when you are drunk. Not everyone is that way, but alot of people are. I guess I should have qualified my statement by saying "most people". Now money, always, always, amplifies who you really are. Just look at all the jerks running around who have won alot of money in the lottery. So, maybe the alcohol is only part of it. Maybe it is that he is a rich drunk, so he really doesn’t keep himself in check.

Cliniqua. If you can tell me to my face, then I respect that. I see how passionate you are about things, but the ‘naughty’ language is what turns me off. We have a President in the US right now, put there by ‘Christian’ groups because he used the ’scare’ tactics and look what’s happened to what once was a ‘respected’ country. So, I promise to read all your comments, but hope that you won’t use such ’strong, naughty’ language next time.

Maybe you have right dragon, i don’t know mel, i am not a fan and how i said before he has wronged in everything, from drive booze at the comments inapropriate on Jews (bigoty). Now he went in rehab and i hope that this work on. For his bigoty or prejudice if he isn’t changed since now he will change never. But i don’t think that hate him will make you better. Thank jj for this thread.

I don’t get some people’s point of view on Christianity. I guess we can only go by what WE ourselves hold true in our hearts. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I always thought that if you claim to be a christian, that doesn’t mean that you are claiming that your perfect. It means your saying that you need GOD in your life because you are far from perfect. I claim to be a christian, -not because I’M PERFECT, but because I NEED ALL THE HELP I CAN GET in life. I mess up all the time. I’ve delt with alcohalism and everything else you can think of. It’s a hard thing, but I got through it. Thank GOD I didn’t have every Joe in america passing judgment on me.

# 84 | conspiracy theory | August 1, 2006 11:07 AMHe almost risked killing someone & even himself, for publicity?

Yeah, I don’t agree that this was for publicity. I mean he’s the richest guy in Hollywood, what does he need to prove?

Here two article that talk about the comments express from mel. They are both from People, in the first is the officer of the police of Los Angeles that talk of the arrest:Officer Didn’t Want to ‘Ruin’ Mel’s CareerTUESDAY AUGUST 01, 2006 09:15AM ESTBy Stephen M. SilvermanAs controversy rages over whether police tried to cover up anti-Semitic remarks Mel Gibson allegedly made after his Friday arrest, the officer who detained him says he didn’t want to harm Gibson’s career. "I don’t take pride in hurting Mr. Gibson," Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy James Mee told the Associated Press Monday. "What I had hoped out of this is that he would think twice before he gets behind the wheel of a car and was drinking. That would be my hope that this would accomplish that. I don’t want to ruin his career. I don’t want to defame him in any way or hurt him." In a report posted on the Web site TMZ.com, Gibson is quoted as saying, "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world," and asking the arresting officer, "Are you a Jew?" Mee, a 17-year Sheriff’s Department veteran who is Jewish, told the Associated Press, "That stuff is booze talking. … If you are high-strung person, it’s going to amplify that and all the bad things are going to come out." On Saturday after his arrest, Gibson issued a statement apologizing for his behavior, and on Monday, Gibson’s rep announced that the actor had sought treatment for alcoholism. The impact on Gibson’s career may have already begun. On Monday, ABC announced it had canceled plans for a miniseries about the Holocaust that Gibson’s Icon Productions had been developing. "Given that it has been nearly two years and we have yet to see the first draft of a script, we have decided to no longer pursue this project with Icon," the network said in a statement. And on Sunday, talent agent Ari Emanuel, of the influential Endeavor agency, called for a boycott against Gibson in a posting on the Huffington Post blog. "People in the entertainment community, whether Jew or gentile, need to demonstrate how much is at stake in this by professionally shunning Mel Gibson and refusing to work with him."

Here the 2nd wit the apologize of Mel at the community jewish:Mel: ‘I Am Not An Anti-Semite’TUESDAY AUGUST 01, 2006 11:00AM ESTMel GibsonPhoto by: Peter Kramer / STAR MAX Mel Gibson, who was arrested Friday for driving under the influence, has issued a new statement apologizing for making anti-Semitic comments to a police officer. In a report posted on the Web site TMZ.com, Gibson is quoted as having said to the Malibu officer: "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world," and asking the arresting officer, "Are you a Jew?" Gibson’s full statement is below:There is no excuse, nor should there be any tolerance, for anyone who thinks or expresses any kind of Anti-Semitic remark. I want to apologize specifically to everyone in the Jewish community for the vitriolic and harmful words that I said to a law enforcement officer the night I was arrested on a DUI charge. I am a public person, and when I say something, either articulated and thought out, or blurted out in a moment of insanity, my words carry weight in the public arena. As a result, I must assume personal responsibility for my words and apologize directly to those who have been hurt and offended by those words. The tenets of what I profess to believe necessitate that I exercise charity and tolerance as a way of life. Every human being is God’s child, and if I wish to honor my God I have to honor his children. But please know from my heart that I am not an anti-Semite. I am not a bigot. Hatred of any kind goes against my faith. I’m not just asking for forgiveness. I would like to take it one step further, and meet with leaders in the Jewish community, with whom I can have a one on one discussion to discern the appropriate path for healing. I have begun an ongoing program of recovery and what I am now realizing is that I cannot do it alone. I am in the process of understanding where those vicious words came from during that drunken display, and I am asking the Jewish community, whom I have personally offended, to help me on my journey through recovery. Again, I am reaching out to the Jewish community for its help. I know there will be many in that community who will want nothing to do with me, and that would be understandable. But I pray that that door is not forever closed. This is not about a film. Nor is it about artistic license. This is about real life and recognizing the consequences hurtful words can have. It’s about existing in harmony in a world that seems to have gone mad.

#91. Thanks for the post, but isn’t the real important thing that Mel was driving drunk and could have killed himself or someone else? What he said is not so important — HE WAS DRUNK!!! What’s important is a life — or lives — could have been destroyed because he was driving drunk. Boycott — GIVE ME A BREAK!!! This is going to make Mel more monies than he has now. Why aren’t we Boycotting Israeli goods, etc., for what they’re doing in Lebanon? Gosh, if we’re goint to Boycott everyone who says something when they’re drunk, we migth as all stay home and watch the 700 Club!!!

#88. You are so SPOT ON!!! Thanks!! Continue keeping yourself happy and out of the dark side.

The Fall of a Hollywood Hate Mongerhttp://www.canada.com/nationalpost/story.html?id=4cc1894c-0c46-49e3-9576-ddf2006f664bRead it, learn something.

I think Cliniqua, what people are objecting to is not the logic or rationale of your arguments but the tone of your "voice". In this matter, I too find the tone somewhat abrasive.I think if Mel Gibson actually said that "Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world" he has clearly made a RACIST statement - why? Because it is clearly untrue. There are many wars having been fought and are still being fought throughout world history that have nothing to do with Jews. To name just a few conflicts which have nothing to do with Jews - Pakistan and India over kashmir. Tutsis and Hutus in Rwanda, Vietnam war, South Korean War. If Mel gibson did make that statement it would be akin to him saying - "Blacks are responsible for all the crime in America". No one here would have any trouble calling him a Racist. This is the point that cliniqua makes and I do agree with her RATIONALE though not quite the way she puts it. I’m deliberately choosing not to use the words "anti semitic" or "anti black" "anti muslim" etc in this post because to me, discrimination based on skin colour, gender, sexual orientation between consenting adults, religion, blurs the real issue. The real issue is discrimination based on something invalid. So I’m using the word "racist" as a short hand to encompass these sorts of prejudices. To me, being a racist is one of the worst crimes because it is a crime against humanity. Whatever our race, our sexual orientation, our religion, we deserve to be judged for our contribution to society, by our kindness to those less fortunate then us, by our being good friends and good neighbours, by our honesty. To me these are the qualities that really matters in a person. Not the colour of his skin, his sexual orientation (as long as it is between consenting adults), his religion or his gender. I don’t want to go back into history to explore whether Israel should exist or not. The essential truth is that today, Israel does exist and it will not disappear. For those who argue that Israel has killed inocent civilians including 36 people in Lebanon and that is an atrocity, I agree. For those who argue that it is also an atrocity that Hezbollah can launch and has launched rocket attacks into Israel, killing innocent civilians, and hidden arms amongst civilian neighbourhoods, in schools etc, I agree. Both sides have a valid self interest that they are fighting for. IMHO, Muslims need to see that destroying Israel would involve genocide and the World - quite rightly, should never agree to that. IMHO, Israel needs to see that Muslims living in Gaza and elsewhere need a state too and that Jerusalem belongs to more then the Jews. (And yes, I know official Isreali arguments about Jerusalem but I don’t agree and I know neither do some Australian and Israeli Jews I’ve met who think it would be a good thing to make Jerusalem a UN territory governed by some council of the 3 judaic based faiths).I also think syria, Iran and other muslim countries continue to derive political mileage in supporting this conflict with Israel to the detriment of its own people. Israel is a rallying point and a distraction, preventing Syrians etc from focussing on issues such as corruption and nepotism, unemployment in their own nations.I don’t have any answers because the situation is so complex. I do know that NO PEACE is going to occur without both sides making concessions which presently, neither side can or are willing to make.

Cliniqua. Couldn’t get on site you sent? Who’s the Hate Monger? If you’re taking about Mel, he’ll pick himself up and keep on going. Hollywood is ‘Money’. As long as his pictures — and he’ll continue to make them — make money, he’ll be just fine. This will pass. Do you honestly think Hollywood cares? The rags sure don’t care, as they’ll be selling rags for months. Gee, what’s poor Jennifer Aniston going to do now that Mel will be taking her spotlight away?

Maria and Chrissy, I am not dismissing your pointof view about Christianity, but here’s the thing that puts people off of Christians sometimes… It’s the assumption by members of that faith that if you aren’t Christian then you don’t have a relationship with God, that anything that falls outside your religion is outside od God. There are plenty of people who don’t identify with Christianity but have very strong relationships with God. There are many paths to God, yet there is a tendency by Christians to assume they have the market cornered on God, and they don’t. God is everywhere and in everything. Maria, your remark about the "dark side" is a good example. You are saying anything non-Christian is bad. Can you see how that comes off sounding? I am not attacking you, I am just point out that many (not all) Christians do this without realizing it. Strict adherance to any relgion causes a certain amount of narrow-mindedness, IMO, no matter which one it is. There are many philosphers who beleive that organized relgion is one of the worst plagues ever perpetuated on mankind because it killed free thinking and ideas. Now, I don’t know if I would go that far myself, but I will say that religion is all about beleifs vs. ideas. Beliefs tend to be unyeilding and unchanging and are for people who think small, while ideas are more fluid and open and associated with deeper thinking. Give me ideas vs. beliefs anyday. People will fight and die for beliefs, and far too many ideas have been squashed out of organized religion. Maybe we would have less war and hate if we all tried to be a bit more fluid in our thinking.

Booze and BigotryMel Gibson: It Wasn’t Just the Tequila TalkingBy Eugene RobinsonTuesday, August 1, 2006; Page A17Let’s not cut Mel Gibson even the tiniest bit of slack over the ugly tirade he inflicted on the sheriff’s deputy who pulled him over in his Lexus as he roared drunkenly down the Pacific Coast Highway at nearly twice the speed limit. If anyone missed the story over the weekend, although I don’t know how that would be possible, Gibson was obnoxious, belligerent and self-important when the arresting officer pulled him over. In other words, just your average traffic stop in Malibu — until Gibson proceeded to blame the ills and injustices of the world, presumably including his own immediate predicament, on the Jews."[Expletive] Jews," Gibson said, according to a copy of the arrest report posted on the entertainment news Web site TMZ.com and later confirmed by the Los Angeles Times. "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." To the officer, he demanded: "Are you a Jew?"Gibson’s defense is one of diminished capacity. He admitted in a statement released Saturday that he had been drinking that evening and shouldn’t have been driving. He "profoundly" regrets his "horrific relapse" into the "disease of alcoholism," Gibson said. "I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable."Well, I’m sorry about his relapse, too, but I just don’t buy the idea that a little tequila, or even a lot of tequila, can somehow turn an unbiased person into a raging anti-Semite — or a racist, or a homophobe or a bigot of any kind, for that matter. Alcohol removes inhibitions, allowing all kinds of opinions to escape uncensored. But you can’t blame alcohol for forming and nurturing those opinions in the first place.Gibson’s rant sounds to me like classic anti-Semitism that goes beyond the country club, "not our sort of people" brand of casual bigotry. He seems well on the way toward some sort of full-blown "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" conspiracy theory of Jewish world domination. If you were in Gibson’s situation, no matter how inebriated or embarrassed, I doubt your first question would be whether the cop who pulled you over was a Jew. I hope not, at least. You will recall that when Gibson’s epic film "The Passion of the Christ" was criticized by some viewers for portraying Jews as scheming, hook-nosed stereotypes, Gibson replied that he was only seeking historical accuracy. You’ll also recall that when asked about his father’s claim that the Holocaust was mostly "fiction," Gibson acknowledged that some Jews did die in concentration camps but stopped short of directly repudiating dear old Dad.He did flatly deny being anti-Semitic, however, telling Diane Sawyer in a 2004 interview that "to be anti-Semitic is to be un-Christian, and I’m not." Now the only question is whether his lack of self-awareness is truly pathological or whether he was just lying. I don’t think anyone could describe his performance the other night as particularly Christian, or particularly civilized. It was timely, though. The Web site that broke the story alleges that higher-ups in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department wanted to sanitize the report of Gibson’s arrest because his anti-Semitic remarks would be "inflammatory" given the war in the Middle East. Officials of the department deny any thought was given to a coverup and say they will conduct an investigation. The Gibson episode comes as the state of Israel continues an assault on southern Lebanon that I am convinced is brutal, disproportionate and counterproductive. The Bush administration was wrong to give Israel the green light to launch such a massive military campaign and is wrong to let Israel stall before agreeing to a proper cease-fire. More than 500 Lebanese civilians already have been killed.Like everything that happens in the Middle East, Israel’s war on Hezbollah has provoked strong feelings. After the tragic mistaken attack on Qana in which 57 civilians died, most of them children, I believe more strongly than ever that this war is a disaster for all concerned. It’s madness, and it must stop. But we shouldn’t forget that Israel exists for a reason. The Mel Gibson episode is a useful reminder that pure anti-Semitism is not a thing of the past — that there are still people who believe Jews are evil or all-powerful or whatever, and for whom Jewishness itself is an unforgivable sin. That’s amazing in this day and age but, then again, there are still people w
