Here two article that talk about the comments express from mel. They are both from People, in the first is the officer of the police of Los Angeles that talk of the arrest:Officer Didn’t Want to ‘Ruin’ Mel’s CareerTUESDAY AUGUST 01, 2006 09:15AM ESTBy Stephen M. SilvermanAs controversy rages over whether police tried to cover up anti-Semitic remarks Mel Gibson allegedly made after his Friday arrest, the officer who detained him says he didn’t want to harm Gibson’s career. "I don’t take pride in hurting Mr. Gibson," Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy James Mee told the Associated Press Monday. "What I had hoped out of this is that he would think twice before he gets behind the wheel of a car and was drinking. That would be my hope that this would accomplish that. I don’t want to ruin his career. I don’t want to defame him in any way or hurt him." In a report posted on the Web site TMZ.com, Gibson is quoted as saying, "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world," and asking the arresting officer, "Are you a Jew?" Mee, a 17-year Sheriff’s Department veteran who is Jewish, told the Associated Press, "That stuff is booze talking. … If you are high-strung person, it’s going to amplify that and all the bad things are going to come out." On Saturday after his arrest, Gibson issued a statement apologizing for his behavior, and on Monday, Gibson’s rep announced that the actor had sought treatment for alcoholism. The impact on Gibson’s career may have already begun. On Monday, ABC announced it had canceled plans for a miniseries about the Holocaust that Gibson’s Icon Productions had been developing. "Given that it has been nearly two years and we have yet to see the first draft of a script, we have decided to no longer pursue this project with Icon," the network said in a statement. And on Sunday, talent agent Ari Emanuel, of the influential Endeavor agency, called for a boycott against Gibson in a posting on the Huffington Post blog. "People in the entertainment community, whether Jew or gentile, need to demonstrate how much is at stake in this by professionally shunning Mel Gibson and refusing to work with him."

Here the 2nd wit the apologize of Mel at the community jewish:Mel: ‘I Am Not An Anti-Semite’TUESDAY AUGUST 01, 2006 11:00AM ESTMel GibsonPhoto by: Peter Kramer / STAR MAX Mel Gibson, who was arrested Friday for driving under the influence, has issued a new statement apologizing for making anti-Semitic comments to a police officer. In a report posted on the Web site TMZ.com, Gibson is quoted as having said to the Malibu officer: "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world," and asking the arresting officer, "Are you a Jew?" Gibson’s full statement is below:There is no excuse, nor should there be any tolerance, for anyone who thinks or expresses any kind of Anti-Semitic remark. I want to apologize specifically to everyone in the Jewish community for the vitriolic and harmful words that I said to a law enforcement officer the night I was arrested on a DUI charge. I am a public person, and when I say something, either articulated and thought out, or blurted out in a moment of insanity, my words carry weight in the public arena. As a result, I must assume personal responsibility for my words and apologize directly to those who have been hurt and offended by those words. The tenets of what I profess to believe necessitate that I exercise charity and tolerance as a way of life. Every human being is God’s child, and if I wish to honor my God I have to honor his children. But please know from my heart that I am not an anti-Semite. I am not a bigot. Hatred of any kind goes against my faith. I’m not just asking for forgiveness. I would like to take it one step further, and meet with leaders in the Jewish community, with whom I can have a one on one discussion to discern the appropriate path for healing. I have begun an ongoing program of recovery and what I am now realizing is that I cannot do it alone. I am in the process of understanding where those vicious words came from during that drunken display, and I am asking the Jewish community, whom I have personally offended, to help me on my journey through recovery. Again, I am reaching out to the Jewish community for its help. I know there will be many in that community who will want nothing to do with me, and that would be understandable. But I pray that that door is not forever closed. This is not about a film. Nor is it about artistic license. This is about real life and recognizing the consequences hurtful words can have. It’s about existing in harmony in a world that seems to have gone mad.

#91. Thanks for the post, but isn’t the real important thing that Mel was driving drunk and could have killed himself or someone else? What he said is not so important — HE WAS DRUNK!!! What’s important is a life — or lives — could have been destroyed because he was driving drunk. Boycott — GIVE ME A BREAK!!! This is going to make Mel more monies than he has now. Why aren’t we Boycotting Israeli goods, etc., for what they’re doing in Lebanon? Gosh, if we’re goint to Boycott everyone who says something when they’re drunk, we migth as all stay home and watch the 700 Club!!!

#88. You are so SPOT ON!!! Thanks!! Continue keeping yourself happy and out of the dark side.

The Fall of a Hollywood Hate Mongerhttp://www.canada.com/nationalpost/story.html?id=4cc1894c-0c46-49e3-9576-ddf2006f664bRead it, learn something.

I think Cliniqua, what people are objecting to is not the logic or rationale of your arguments but the tone of your "voice". In this matter, I too find the tone somewhat abrasive.I think if Mel Gibson actually said that "Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world" he has clearly made a RACIST statement - why? Because it is clearly untrue. There are many wars having been fought and are still being fought throughout world history that have nothing to do with Jews. To name just a few conflicts which have nothing to do with Jews - Pakistan and India over kashmir. Tutsis and Hutus in Rwanda, Vietnam war, South Korean War. If Mel gibson did make that statement it would be akin to him saying - "Blacks are responsible for all the crime in America". No one here would have any trouble calling him a Racist. This is the point that cliniqua makes and I do agree with her RATIONALE though not quite the way she puts it. I’m deliberately choosing not to use the words "anti semitic" or "anti black" "anti muslim" etc in this post because to me, discrimination based on skin colour, gender, sexual orientation between consenting adults, religion, blurs the real issue. The real issue is discrimination based on something invalid. So I’m using the word "racist" as a short hand to encompass these sorts of prejudices. To me, being a racist is one of the worst crimes because it is a crime against humanity. Whatever our race, our sexual orientation, our religion, we deserve to be judged for our contribution to society, by our kindness to those less fortunate then us, by our being good friends and good neighbours, by our honesty. To me these are the qualities that really matters in a person. Not the colour of his skin, his sexual orientation (as long as it is between consenting adults), his religion or his gender. I don’t want to go back into history to explore whether Israel should exist or not. The essential truth is that today, Israel does exist and it will not disappear. For those who argue that Israel has killed inocent civilians including 36 people in Lebanon and that is an atrocity, I agree. For those who argue that it is also an atrocity that Hezbollah can launch and has launched rocket attacks into Israel, killing innocent civilians, and hidden arms amongst civilian neighbourhoods, in schools etc, I agree. Both sides have a valid self interest that they are fighting for. IMHO, Muslims need to see that destroying Israel would involve genocide and the World - quite rightly, should never agree to that. IMHO, Israel needs to see that Muslims living in Gaza and elsewhere need a state too and that Jerusalem belongs to more then the Jews. (And yes, I know official Isreali arguments about Jerusalem but I don’t agree and I know neither do some Australian and Israeli Jews I’ve met who think it would be a good thing to make Jerusalem a UN territory governed by some council of the 3 judaic based faiths).I also think syria, Iran and other muslim countries continue to derive political mileage in supporting this conflict with Israel to the detriment of its own people. Israel is a rallying point and a distraction, preventing Syrians etc from focussing on issues such as corruption and nepotism, unemployment in their own nations.I don’t have any answers because the situation is so complex. I do know that NO PEACE is going to occur without both sides making concessions which presently, neither side can or are willing to make.

Cliniqua. Couldn’t get on site you sent? Who’s the Hate Monger? If you’re taking about Mel, he’ll pick himself up and keep on going. Hollywood is ‘Money’. As long as his pictures — and he’ll continue to make them — make money, he’ll be just fine. This will pass. Do you honestly think Hollywood cares? The rags sure don’t care, as they’ll be selling rags for months. Gee, what’s poor Jennifer Aniston going to do now that Mel will be taking her spotlight away?

Maria and Chrissy, I am not dismissing your pointof view about Christianity, but here’s the thing that puts people off of Christians sometimes… It’s the assumption by members of that faith that if you aren’t Christian then you don’t have a relationship with God, that anything that falls outside your religion is outside od God. There are plenty of people who don’t identify with Christianity but have very strong relationships with God. There are many paths to God, yet there is a tendency by Christians to assume they have the market cornered on God, and they don’t. God is everywhere and in everything. Maria, your remark about the "dark side" is a good example. You are saying anything non-Christian is bad. Can you see how that comes off sounding? I am not attacking you, I am just point out that many (not all) Christians do this without realizing it. Strict adherance to any relgion causes a certain amount of narrow-mindedness, IMO, no matter which one it is. There are many philosphers who beleive that organized relgion is one of the worst plagues ever perpetuated on mankind because it killed free thinking and ideas. Now, I don’t know if I would go that far myself, but I will say that religion is all about beleifs vs. ideas. Beliefs tend to be unyeilding and unchanging and are for people who think small, while ideas are more fluid and open and associated with deeper thinking. Give me ideas vs. beliefs anyday. People will fight and die for beliefs, and far too many ideas have been squashed out of organized religion. Maybe we would have less war and hate if we all tried to be a bit more fluid in our thinking.

Booze and BigotryMel Gibson: It Wasn’t Just the Tequila TalkingBy Eugene RobinsonTuesday, August 1, 2006; Page A17Let’s not cut Mel Gibson even the tiniest bit of slack over the ugly tirade he inflicted on the sheriff’s deputy who pulled him over in his Lexus as he roared drunkenly down the Pacific Coast Highway at nearly twice the speed limit. If anyone missed the story over the weekend, although I don’t know how that would be possible, Gibson was obnoxious, belligerent and self-important when the arresting officer pulled him over. In other words, just your average traffic stop in Malibu — until Gibson proceeded to blame the ills and injustices of the world, presumably including his own immediate predicament, on the Jews."[Expletive] Jews," Gibson said, according to a copy of the arrest report posted on the entertainment news Web site TMZ.com and later confirmed by the Los Angeles Times. "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." To the officer, he demanded: "Are you a Jew?"Gibson’s defense is one of diminished capacity. He admitted in a statement released Saturday that he had been drinking that evening and shouldn’t have been driving. He "profoundly" regrets his "horrific relapse" into the "disease of alcoholism," Gibson said. "I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable."Well, I’m sorry about his relapse, too, but I just don’t buy the idea that a little tequila, or even a lot of tequila, can somehow turn an unbiased person into a raging anti-Semite — or a racist, or a homophobe or a bigot of any kind, for that matter. Alcohol removes inhibitions, allowing all kinds of opinions to escape uncensored. But you can’t blame alcohol for forming and nurturing those opinions in the first place.Gibson’s rant sounds to me like classic anti-Semitism that goes beyond the country club, "not our sort of people" brand of casual bigotry. He seems well on the way toward some sort of full-blown "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" conspiracy theory of Jewish world domination. If you were in Gibson’s situation, no matter how inebriated or embarrassed, I doubt your first question would be whether the cop who pulled you over was a Jew. I hope not, at least. You will recall that when Gibson’s epic film "The Passion of the Christ" was criticized by some viewers for portraying Jews as scheming, hook-nosed stereotypes, Gibson replied that he was only seeking historical accuracy. You’ll also recall that when asked about his father’s claim that the Holocaust was mostly "fiction," Gibson acknowledged that some Jews did die in concentration camps but stopped short of directly repudiating dear old Dad.He did flatly deny being anti-Semitic, however, telling Diane Sawyer in a 2004 interview that "to be anti-Semitic is to be un-Christian, and I’m not." Now the only question is whether his lack of self-awareness is truly pathological or whether he was just lying. I don’t think anyone could describe his performance the other night as particularly Christian, or particularly civilized. It was timely, though. The Web site that broke the story alleges that higher-ups in the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department wanted to sanitize the report of Gibson’s arrest because his anti-Semitic remarks would be "inflammatory" given the war in the Middle East. Officials of the department deny any thought was given to a coverup and say they will conduct an investigation. The Gibson episode comes as the state of Israel continues an assault on southern Lebanon that I am convinced is brutal, disproportionate and counterproductive. The Bush administration was wrong to give Israel the green light to launch such a massive military campaign and is wrong to let Israel stall before agreeing to a proper cease-fire. More than 500 Lebanese civilians already have been killed.Like everything that happens in the Middle East, Israel’s war on Hezbollah has provoked strong feelings. After the tragic mistaken attack on Qana in which 57 civilians died, most of them children, I believe more strongly than ever that this war is a disaster for all concerned. It’s madness, and it must stop. But we shouldn’t forget that Israel exists for a reason. The Mel Gibson episode is a useful reminder that pure anti-Semitism is not a thing of the past — that there are still people who believe Jews are evil or all-powerful or whatever, and for whom Jewishness itself is an unforgivable sin. That’s amazing in this day and age but, then again, there are still people who believe that the color of a person’s skin tells them everything they need to know.******************

COLD HARD MATH @ 08/01/2006 at 1:02 pm

Mel Gibson is suicidal08.01.2006:13:02 The LA Weekly blog quotes a very reliable source this morning that claims Mel Gibson wasn’t merely intoxicated early Friday morning when he was arrested for DUI, but was also suffering from severe depression and on the verge of suicide, "because he felt he was helpless to alcohol and didn’t know what to do about it." Their source says: "That’s why he was driving around 90 miles an hour. This was a death wish. If that cop hadn’t stopped him, this guy was going to be wrapped around a pole. This is such a bigger issue than ‘Will he work again?’ This is about his not wanting to live anymore. I’ve seen what he’s gone through and what he’s going through. You have to understand the disease of alcoholism. He was back in it. There’s no doubt in my mind he was trying to kill himself that night." I read this at WWTDD.Looks like Mel has some serious demons…..

Mel Gibson’s statement in full Gibson was arrested for drink-driving in California on Friday Actor and director Mel Gibson has apologised for the anti-Semitic words he used during his arrest for drink-driving. Here is his full statement: There is no excuse, nor should there be any tolerance, for anyone who thinks or expresses any kind of anti-Semitic remark. I want to apologise specifically to everyone in the Jewish community for the vitriolic and harmful words that I said to a law enforcement officer the night I was arrested on a DUI (driving under the influence) charge. I am a public person, and when I say something, either articulated and thought out, or blurted out in a moment of insanity, my words carry weight in the public arena. As a result, I must assume personal responsibility for my words and apologise directly to those who have been hurt and offended by those words. I know there will be many in that community who will want nothing to do with me, and that would be understandable The tenets of what I profess to believe necessitate that I exercise charity and tolerance as a way of life. It’s about existing in harmony in a world that seems to have gone mad. ******************Okay, just to show you - how objective I can be - and also how I, even moreso than some who proclaim to ‘practicing,’ religious folk - I have read Mel Gibson’s statement and want to say this.THERE IS HOPE FOR HIM.If he had NOT included what he had bolded I would have written him off TOTALLY, as he, even now, says he wouldn’t be surprised by.But we agree on a few points - that he needs to know where his hate comes from, and that he needs help in finding out..and also that yes, the world has gone Mad.If he does this right he could one day in the distant future, set an example about forgiveness and coming to terms with ingrained bigotry and hate taught to us by others. Basically, he needs to rat out his rat Dad. That’s where it started. So he needs to come clean right there…and oh yeah…when he finds the time…and if he thinks it’s IMPORTANT enough, address his sexist slurs as well….women are part of humanity too Mel.That is all the charity I’m will to extend to Gibson today. We’ll see if he’s serious in the coming days.

Typo - I have bolded that section of Gibson’s statement above. Not him.

Hi Dragonfly. Thanks so much for you thoughts. I never meant for anyone to think that anyone not Christian was bad, please let me make that clear right now. You’re points are well taken, and I thank you for them. I studied Islamic Law and History, so I appreciate all religions. I have visited many mosques and synagoes and have appreciated them all in their beauty and beliefs. I was raised Catholic and continue to practice, but I would NEVER think to say that my religion is better than anyone elses’, as I can go back to my religious history — The Crusades (and current) to not be so silly to say something like that. Gosh, sometimes I think it would be better to go back to the ‘gods’ way of thinking — Apollo, Zeus, Athina………..wasn’t that a better time? So much hate when ‘religion’ is concerned. Mohammed must be turning over in his grave to think the religion he started with such love people have turned into excuses to hate. I wanted so much to visit Iraq and see the museums they had on Islamic art, but then this jerk president of ours starts this war and all those beautiful things are lost. I’ve visited Turkey, Morraco, Egypt and have seen the wonders of those countries. NO, I would NEVER venture to say that non Christian beliefs are ‘dark side’, and if it came across that way, then please accept my apology. I love your statement ‘fluid in our thinking’. I so agree with that. Again, thanks!

African Girl @ 08/01/2006 at 1:29 pm

Even Mel Gibson understands there’s no defense for what he did. At this point, that’s all that matters to me. I have always avoided religion and politics on blogs because frankly, it is one of the issues that people will never agree on.

For the first time i and african girl are agreed, religion and politics are thing that people will never agree on. For Mel i am agreed with Maria the real important thing was the drive drunken not the comments "racist"

African Girl @ 08/01/2006 at 1:42 pm

AnonimoLol….for the first time? Oh c’mon….we must have more in common than this. So does this mean you’re not a BAMZS fan?

dragonfly @ 08/01/2006 at 2:08 pm

Maria, thank you so much for your thoughtful response! I really agree with you about the lost art and architecture in Iraq. Baghdad was once a cultural center since the ancient times and now it is a barren wasteland. It makes me very sad, especially since America had such a heavy hand in destroying it.I, too, feel that it would be wonderful to go back and reclaim some of the ideas of the Greeks. Their society was based on the idea of individualism and live and let live, vs. the Romans who were more about the team concept of divide and conquer….individual ideas did not matter.I think it is wonderful that you have studied other religions besides your own. My own mind really opened up once I started to do that. I think the fact that most Americans don’t take the time to do that is what keeps us all ignorant, hating, and afraid of each other. There are alot of people who feel that if they study another religion it will somehow weaken their faith, and there are even some clergy who discourage reading any "secular" literature. I feel that only good can come of expanded study, because either A) it will strengthen your existing faith, or B) it will possibly show you another path to God, and what’s wrong with that? Again, thank you!

Great photo of Mel on BuzzFoto. I think mel is a total ass for his comments and no amount of apology should ever help him.

Here is a link that should give you pause re the Qana bombing:http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,,19955774-5007220,00.htmlHow come in all the things happening in Lebanon, nobody ever blames Hezbollah? Why is it always Israel’s fault when they fight back against its aggressors? Mel just echoed what most people here are thinking. But there’s something everybody should remember: The Jews are God’s chosen people. They’ve been on this earth even before the Christians, Budhists and Muslims were ever born. You just can’t wish them away or push them out to sea without incurring God’s wrath. Israel is their promised land. The Palis were never mentioned.

Humans are Awful @ 08/01/2006 at 2:50 pm

If an anti-Muslim comment was made - no one would bat an eye. There is an unfair way that racism towards Jews is given more attention than racism against other people like Blacks and Muslims.I agree with the poster above, I don’t see Hollywood up in arms and boycotting Paris Hilton for saying an anti-Black comment. She is a bigger star now than ever before. Hollywood is run by A rich Jewish community and they protect their interests at all cost.Racism of any kind is horrible but how hypocritical of Hollywood to be so angry at anti-Semitic comments a drunk dumb Hollywood actor makes but not be up in arms that innocent children and women were bombed and murdered by Israel this past Sunday (60 people so far! in one day).Shame on all of us.

the real tita @ 08/01/2006 at 2:59 pm

And for all those bleeding hearts who think that Israelis are such monsters, read this:http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3284514,00.htmlWho are the monsters now?

# 104 | African Girl # 111 | Humans are Awful….ITA….to both of you# 110 | the real tita …no offense…but where it was say that the jews are the only children of God and israel is their land??? who wrote this story???are we, the non-jews, not children of God??i know he made a mistake by uttering those not-politically correct words and of him being drunk but you guys are comparing him to the hezbollahs??? if we think about what’s going on in the midddle east….who are at fault….is it only the hezbollahs?? not israel because they are the children of God???anyways…before this comes into a big argument…and i am not going to defend MG coz i know that what he did is wrong but making him a poster boy for anti-semitism is a bit much….imo

TO REAL TITA @ 08/01/2006 at 3:27 pm

REAL TITA I AM JEWISH AND I AM APPALLED APPALLED BY YOU COMMENT THAT JEWSIH PEOPLE ARE "CHOSEN" PEOPLE"…CHOSEN BY WHOM? AND IF WE ARE CHOSEN, WHAT ABOUT OTHER RELIGIONS AND THE REST OF THE WORLD???? ARE OTHER PEOPLE NOT CHOSEN?THIS IS THE KIND OF MENTALITY THAT CREATES DIVISION, WAR, HATRED, INTOLERANCE - WHEN ONE PEOPLE ARE CLAIMED TO BE SUPERIOR THAN OTHERS BY SOME DIVINE ORDER.HERE ARE TRULY CHOSEN PEOPLE:MOHATMA GHANDI (NOT JEWISH)MOTHER THERESA (NOT JEWISH)NELSON MANDELA (NOT JEWISH)JESUS (JEWISH)THE WHITE CIVIL RIGHTS PROTESTERS (MANY JEWISH)MARTIN LUTHER KING (NOT JEWISH)BUDDHA (NOT JEWISH)PEOPLE ARE NOT CHOSEN BY GOD - PEOPLE CHOOSE GOOD. AND WHEN YOU CHOOSE GOD YOU FIGHT FOR HUMANITY, YOU CARE FOR HUMANITY, YOU STEP UP TO THE PLATE, YOU EMBRACE ALL KINDS. THAT IS A "CHOSEN" PERSON. IT CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE - WE ALL HAVE THE POWER IF WE WANT TO CHANGE THE WORLD.ALSO, JEWISH PEOPLE WERE NOT THE FIRST PEOPLE ON THIS EARTH AS YOU CLAIM. BLACKK SOUTH AFRICANS WERE - IF YOU CHECK HISTORY YOU WILL FIND THIS AS FACT. AND THESE AFRICANS WERE PRACTICING RELIGIONS LONG BEFORE KNOWN RELIGIONS EXISTED.WE NEED TO OVERCOME THIS COCKY CLAIM THAT GOD ONLY SEES SOME OF US. ISLAM, JUDAISM, BUDDHISM, AFRICAN RELIGIONS, HINDUISM, CHRISTIANITY , NATIVE AMERICAN RELIGIONS - ALL OF THEM ARE VALID WAYS OF CONVERSING WITH GOD. HOW DO SOME HUMANS CLAIM TO CATEGORICALLY KNOW HOW TO GET TO GOD? NONE OF US KNOW. UNTIL THEN, STAY ON THE PATH OF GOOD AND NON-JUDGMENT AND WE WILL NOT FALTER.COMMENTS LIKE YOURS ARE AT THE BASE OF WARS AND HATRED. WARS START WITH SOMETHING THAT SMALL, YOU KNOW.NONE OF US ARE CHOSEN. WE ARE ALL GOD’S CREATION. AND MEL GIBSON’S COMMENT IS WRONG BUT SO IS IGNORING 60 INNOCENT CHILDREN AND WOMEN KILLED BY ISRAEL.THE JEWISH STATE OF ISRAEL KNOWS WHAT IT IS LIKE TO LOSE CHILDREN TO THE THIRD REICH DURING WWII, HOW COULD WE DO IT TO OTHER PEOPLE’S CHILDREN?TWO WRONGS DON’T MAKE A RIGHT.LISTEN TO AIR AMERICA RADIO ON THE AM DIAL. THEY AHVE GREAT PROGRESSIVE THINKING JEWISH FOLKS ON THERE WHO DO NOT SUPPORT THE KILLING OF INNOCENT LEBONESE IN THE NAME OF GOD.GOD NEVER KILLS HATEFUL HUMANS DO.

Forgiveness @ 08/01/2006 at 3:37 pm

I am a Christian, and even though I don’t not agree with what Mel said at all I still forgive him for his actions and his awful behavior towards Jews. This is because he has asked for forgiveness. Unless any of you are able to walk on water, you should not be judging him. Look at your own lives and see if you have done something to deeply offend a religion, or race. I am pretty sure some of you have, maybe not to the extent that he has done. It might not have been directly towards the person of that religion or race but still people are affected. I am not condoning his behavior in the least, because I think that is awful what he did. As a Christian it is very disheartening that some people might think that all Christians have the tendency to act like Mel did, which a lot of them aren’t. He is human and does make mistakes. Mel has asked for forgiveness and I believe that those that do believe what he believes should forgive him. This does not mean forget. As for Hollywood, that is a whole different story. People in this business take controversy and keep hold of it until that person, in this case Mel, is crucified, which I think is incredible wrong. People are human and to expect them not to screw up is unrealistic as far as I am concerned. Think what you want but also keep in mind this. What if you, for whatever reason, did something to offend a religion, race, or whatever? Would you want people to crucify you or would you want forgiveness, if you asked for it. I am not trying to sound preachy but I am just saying what I truly believe.

Dragonfly. Thanks back at ya! When I was young I dreamed of seeing the pyrmids and visiting the Temple of Abu Simbel in Egypt. I told my priest that I wanted to visit Egypt. He told me to work hard, save my money and that one day my dream would come true. Well he was right. When I finally visited and stood in front of Abu Simbel, the tour director came and asked why I was crying. Well, I hadn’t noticed that I was crying. To see something that was built thousands of years ago, by people who worshipped ‘gods’ and not one god, was amazing. To be American is to understand that we come from all places — none of us are 100% American, as our families are all from somewhere else. Americans need to understand — as other countries that we must, and I say MUST try and understand those that are not like us. Religion, to me, at least, is something personal that should make us happy and fill our lives with wonder. We shouldn’t get on a horse and burn down buildings and kill children because we think ‘our’ religion is better — again, look at the Crusades. The Romans killed thousands of Muslims in the name of God. They killed children by slamming their heads against walls. IN THE NAME OF RELIGION!!! I’m Catholic, I love being Catholic, but I’m also not going to turn a blind eye to those in my religion who have done hateful things. This is why I think we all should go back to worshipping the ‘gods’. Apollo (for music), Diana (for the hunt), Athina (wisdom), Venus (love). HA! HA! You take care and let’s light a candle to ‘the gods’ to help us all understand those different than us better and love them the same. Isn’t that what religion teaches us?

114 | TO REAL TITAyour words i have touched my heart. They are very true and very well said. For african girl i am not bamzs fan but this here isn’t the point. This thread is for the arrest of Mel Gibson and his comments racist on the jews. Other celebrities are out from this thread. And jjoy you are right Mel isn’t hezbollah, he has wronged but he not use home civils how base to lunch missile in Israel, and however the war between Israel and the Hezbollah isn’t joined with this fact.

the real tita @ 08/01/2006 at 3:54 pm

#113: jjoy, no offense taken. I’m a Catholic but I don’t think that you have to be Christian to be saved or be a child of God. However, I’ve always heard that thing about being the chosen by God and Israel as being the promised land. Not a big bible reader but I’m guessing it’s from the Old Testament. Maybe someone here on this thread is a Jew or knows history so they can explain it better.
