I remember from when Steffi Graf was still playing tennis she used to kiss her brother, father, AND mother on the lips and as soon as Americans saw her father kiss her on the lips they immediately screamed "INCEST"! Wha???Re annea’s comments, though I kinda get where you’re coming from - if you don’t believe a brother is going to get turned on by kissing a sister on the lips, whether they’re gay or straight - it wouldn’t matter.I’ve often wondered at the progression of the AJ stories w/ her brother. I pasted her Larry King interview where she relays the story of that night and how hurtful it was to her family - truly heartwrenching, so I won’t go into it again. But I just find it fascinating that that was able to take on mythic lore proportions (AJ & bro) — the psychology behind it, says a LOT about our society. Make no mistake, that was an ‘American’ slur — I don’t think any other society in the world would have created that kind of slander and used it against a young woman on what should have been a triumphant night that she could remember fondly - they took that away from her - it’s one of the main reasons why I hope Angelina wins one again, so that the media can in some way right the wrong that was done to her.The commentary was so intense most likey because Angelina kissed James more than a few times, and those still pics were captured and shown all over the world. Then of course Angie’s statement, ‘I’m so in love w/ my brother right now,’ was perverted and misconstrued in the face of that comfort level and intense affection between these two. I don’t think Jaime is gay - I have thought in the past he might be, but I don’t know if it’s because of the kind of masculine beauty he has with features that any woman would die to have, that have made me wonder…I have heard Angie discuss at length her brother’s girlfriends, and how she’s liked some a lot etc., …so that most likely means that he’s straight. I think Angelina’s forthrightness about her own sexuality, her unapologetic and honest inhabiting of her own skin -makes the typical puritanical American freak out…however hard it is to believe, I really do think at the time - because she was perceived as soooo sexual, and her physical beauty so arresting, and different and just luscious with the lips, the eyes, the boobs — that some people had this reaction to her as a pure sexual threat, man or woman — kind of like, well if she’d do THAT, why wouldn’t she do THAT. It’s sick, and says way more about our society, and us than it ever could about a young woman who’s sexuality is just honest and pure.
