I’ve been following angelina-brad-thread for months already but it’s my first time to both read and write. I love the couple very much and i’ve been following every blogs about them. I admire them because they’re not self-centered and they are true parents.

Yup if you added the figures you wrote it down they are almost $4 million and those were the money she donated via UNHCR, in otherw ords her private donations are not listed above. I will give you an example, according to Muhammed Ali wife she donated a large sum of money to his center and this is not mentioned in the list, the same about her donations to orphangaes in Ethiopia, Chechyna, Afghanistan and many other countries. You see she doesn’t go out and brag about where she donated, her donations via UNHCR are made public in their website just like the Red Cross made Jennifer Aniston donation to Katrina public but that doesn’t mean that’s all she donated. Take alone Shiloh’s sold pix, $8-10 million were donated to various charities. May Allah bless her good heart.

Las vegas review jornal, has mentions of George, Steven and Andy in Vegas, nothing on Brad. Also they mention 250 members of crew and cast had a private party on Tuesday. In other news Star magazine says that Angie spend 400,000 on 3 pieces of Banksy, TMZ has the story.

Cliniqua, I’m exactly like you when it comes to the chicks. I’m a fan of country pop like Faith Hill but that’s it really.

Worst things have been said about the President. Like back in 2001 when his approval ratings were at his highest she went on the record and said that he was a “f**king idiot”. No one boycotted Friends and no one bought DVDs only to stomp on them in the streets, yet The Chicks received death threats against them and their families.

Since we’re on the subject on Affleck, I’m not a fan even though we’re from the same city. I know people who have met him and in some cases, waited on him. He’s not a nice guy and they all agree. In fact, when the rumor of him and JG’s engagement hit he was in Boston. According to one of my friends (she sat near Ben in bar), he tried to hit on a girl! Now, at that point JG was at least two months pregnant. Also, he’s been known to be …grabby with well endowed waitresses too. I also remember seeing him on the red carpet with the ladies of Saturday Night Live where he blatantly stared directly down at their breasts! The cameras were right there, of course he was going to get caught! lol

I think mentioned this before but Casey Affleck did an interview with Boston magazine where he indirectly called Ben shallow because he likes to date famous actresses and drive really expensive cars but then he heard himself and quickly told the journalist that he loves Ben. He did admit to being closer to Matt though lol I guess there is something thicker than blood and its name is Matt Damon.

She is just too cool :)

Hey Girl!! I LOOOOOOVED Spike!!! His British accent was amazing, as you’d never know he was American. He was sooooo funny in a scene where he’s tied up in a bath tub and he wants the TV on because he has to watch “Passions”. Miss Buffy. Loved that Show and Looooooooooooved Angel. I now watch ‘Bones’ — love that David man!!!

I am not sure that I have ever risen to the defense of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie before. They certainly haven’t risen to my defense, because I would have remembered that. There’s no journalistic upside to defending overdogs; at best, people think you’re a suck-up; at worst, they think you’re a rabid running dog of the decadent celebrity culture.

But that’s what I’m doing. Background: Brad Pitt, a movie actor, and Angelina Jolie, a movie actress (many of my readers are reclusive intellectuals and do not follow celebrity gossip or, indeed, any news at all from the 21st century) (which, when you think about it, is not that bad an idea) have been “going together,” as the kids say, for a few years now. In that time, Pitt has joined Jolie in her humanitarian efforts.

“Angelina Jolie’s humanitarian efforts” is a phrase that makes a lot of people smile. Some kind of publicity stunt, perhaps? Some deluded do-gooder work by a washed-up actress? Well, no. She’s been working with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees for half a decade now. She has adopted two children, one from Cambodia and one from Ethiopia.

She has visited refugee camps in Cambodia, Pakistan, Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania, Russia, Egypt, Haiti and Darfur. Current score: number of times President Bush has visited refugee camps in any of those countries: zero; number of times Angelina Jolie has those places: dozens. She has visited Darfur more times than any high-level member of the administration. And visiting Darfur is no picnic even if you are rich, famous and beautiful.

(The idea that being rich, famous and beautiful inoculates against all doubt and all pain is stupid, a weird byproduct of celebrity worship. Celebrities are just human beings. They have physical comfort and gratifying acclaim — although the acclaim is untrustworthy — but in their hearts, they are just as fearful and restless and confused as the rest of us. And there’s no rule book for celebrity, so they’re doubly confused and triply weirded out. But yes, their sheets have a high thread count.)

Angelina Jolie is doing fame jujitsu. She is taking the strength of your admiration for her beauty and her charm, and throwing you over her shoulder and into a fly-infested hellhole in Sudan and saying, “Pay attention.” This is not a bad thing. It’s culture-jamming, only done by someone at the top rather than someone at the bottom.

So she got together with extremely handsome movie star Brad Pitt and said, “Love me, love my refugee camps,” and he did! So now they’re doing it together. More fame jujitsu: When they had a baby together this summer, Jolie capitalized on the (utterly bewildering) interest in celebrity baby photos by selling the photos to Getty Images and donating the proceeds to UNICEF.

This is a good thing.

I was reading in this newspaper the other week an article by Cintra Wilson. The essential point she was making is pretty good: The Bush administration is so obsessed with power and money and God, that unqualified celebrities have to take the lead in working for the underdog. But this point is entirely undercut by the knee-jerk smarm of the writing.

Is Brad Pitt really a “toxic bachelor”? And what does that mean? Is Spike Lee really the “soft-core bard of African America,” and what does that mean? (The man who made “Do The Right Thing” is soft core? Render unto me a break.) She means to be praising Lee in that sentence, but it sure doesn’t come out that way.

She writes: “Like celebrities don’t have enough to do, with all their tragic marriages, drug-addled children and surgical neck- lifts.”

You don’t have to be a celebrity to have a tragic marriage or a drug-addled child. It is not remotely fair to assume that people who act in movies are less sad about loss and suffering than clerks, truck drivers or journalists. It is not even really fair to blame movie actors for the strange code-red level of projection and envy that surrounds them.

Envy is the flip side of celebrity journalism. It’s probably easy to hate celebrities if you stand in the cold all night trying to take a photograph of them, but why should the rest of us care? Aren’t those all the cheapest of cheap shots, and don’t we all have something better to do? Maybe we could scrape up some money and fly to Darfur. I hear this is the off-season.
