OlderAngelina Jolie Does Charitable Work
There was a supposed rift between Angelina Jolie and Nicole Kidman after Scotland’s Daily Record quoted Kidman as saying, “It’s not like Angelina is any better than a nurse working in a hospital, but she’s getting the publicity for her contribution.”
Yesterday, The Daily Record admitted that Kidman never said those things about Angelina and apologized for “any upset caused.” Instead, Kidman’s publicist, Catherine Olim did release a statement on behalf of Nicole Kidman:
“Ms. Kidman has tremendous admiration for Angelina Jolie and her tireless, worldwide charitable work, as well as for the work of countless less well known volunteers in areas of need around the world.”

Did you all know that Thelma and Lousie ranked #78 on AFI’s 100 Most Inspiring movies? It confused me at first because…well it’s Thelma and Louise but after awhile I figured it out. The film is inspiring because if you’re a frustrated woman, you too can become a criminal along with your best friend AND you will have a steamy night with Brad …only to have him rob you and run off with your money. Then, you and your BFF (best friend forever) will avoid prison time by driving off a cliff while holding hands. And ladies, aren’t those our ultimate goal in life?

You’re taking the film waaaaaay too literal my dear. Point of the film is, anything is BETTER than living the life you’re not supposed to - where you’re caged, stifled, and oppressed. Basically, it’s get out and live the LIFE you want — you might get f**ked up, and over - but you will be alive, and it will be ON YOUR TERMS - instead of being caged in, and under someone else’s thumb — trapped. The more I think about it…this is what Brad and Angelina are doing — it’s what Brad meant in those post maniston interviews, when he said he, ‘didn’t want to wake up one day and not know who he was,’ and that he ‘didn’t want to spend his life watching TV.’ (heh - take that Maniston)…that’s basically what ‘Thelma & Louise’ is speaking too.
As for Ted’s Maddox comment — he wouldn’t be where he is, if he didn’t infer bullsh*t. His bitchy little name implication is wack and makes no sense, even if he was trying to imply something about the adoption not going through - it would have nothing to do with ‘Jolie-Pitt’ — which is legally maddox’s name now. So dropping it in a one-line jokey joke comment on what and who Maddox will be like as a man is incomprehensible. His queenisms don’t even make sense anymore.
#83 In case you didn’t know, Angie works for the UN and has traveled to third world countries. Those work for the UN aren’t living the high life up in the Four seasons. They go to countries where access to clean water is limited so showering isn’t always an option and food is also scarce. So Ms. Jolie has actually lived in not so glamorous countries like Cambodia and Pakistan. And JA, she didn’t even go to Ethiopia with Brad, which is a fact.

In answer to yeahright, Angelina does pay for her own expenses including flight, hotel, security etc. when she goes to these countries. I remembered reading somewhere that a rep for UN said that they didn’t have to pay anything for her. She pays for herself and then make a donation too. I would consider that a charity donation too. As well, her time and energy. X would just sit around or go to Cox’s house and do the same. X never did anything good for anyone except herself.

If this is what she said, then you should believe her. I remember watching a National Geog interview. The interviewer (er) also mentioned that this is true.
You may think she made a lot of money. But think, there is always taxes, expenses. Most of the time, we hear about the amount is the gross. But she did make more money than Jennifer Aniston.
She filed her tax return. There is also this confidentiality. So for anyone who doubts her, go away. Bring some concrete evidence.

If you can read, why don’t you get Angelina’s book out from the library (since I figure you are too cheap to buy it even tho all the proceeds go to the UNCHR). She talks about living in the same quarters that the other volunteers live in. Steaming hot countries, no A/C, community bathrooms etc. I believe she even did some tent living in some of the countries she visited. She did this without an entourage, without fanfare and because of a commitment she has made. If you look at the other UNHCR ambassadors thru the ages, very few of them have done much at all with their roles except to be figureheads who fund raise. Past UNHCR ambassadors have been Richard Burton, Sophia Loren and Princess Marthe Louise of Norway among others. Do you think they went out in the field and lived in tents and shacks? I don’t think so. Angelina has taken on this commitment and she is serving with a passion most of the other ambassadors did not bring to the job. I’m not saying the others didn’t do anything, I’m saying they lacked AJ’s fervor.
Brad and Angelina have learned their lesson from their past relationships and have chosen to stay private…like Jennifer Aniston, who actually said, “I’ve learned my lesson” when a journalist asked her about her love life.
Let’s look back at public couples who said glowing words about one another…
Nick and Jessica: Divorced
Bobby and Whitney:Separated soon to be divorced.
Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler: Like Bobby and Whitney.
Cameron Diaz while with Matt Dillon said that they would last forever and that he was very down to Earth. Yeah, we all saw how well that worked out.

So what if she saves on taxes by donating this amount to charity, by doing good with it. Do you think Paris Hilton does this? Lindsay Lohan? Jessica Simpson? No they jump on the charitable bandwagon and then get off when they don’t get the publicity they crave. If every pseudo star, wanna be star and star not to mention actor/actress donated a third of their income–wow, think of the good that would do. But alas, that might mean for many of them that they couldn’t buy that new ferrari, Manolo Blahnik shoe or their posh home in the Hamptons.
If Angie wants to donate her money to charity that is her business…both literally and figuratively.

any UN trip is not paid by the organization. that i know. she paid for all expenses herself.
she did not make 16 million per movie. in her line of work, there is much much expenses. just use common sense. think about it, NONE of the magazine (include tabloid), including some who wrote against her NEVER use this 1/3 contribution as an angle to attack her. please stop this naive idea.
