Matthew Perry is the true comic
of the six, and has played the sitcome fame game well. He did
NOTHING for a couple of years, after trying his hand at a few
movies during the run of the TV show and knowing that he was
basically getting roles very similar to Chandler. He came back in a
made-for-TV movie playing a very different character, to get us
used to seeing him again, but in a different guise. Now he’s in a
another TV show, a completely different character from anything
we’ve seen him do before, not reaching beyond his limitations, and
waiting for a good script. The show is supposed to be one of the
best of the fall season.
He has addressed his own personal problems, and gotten them
under control, by the way, and never once blamed anyone else —
not his parents, not fame, nothing but his own inability to control
himself. Jen should have been taking lessons from this costar,
instead of spending all her time listening to Courteney Cox tell her
she was wonderful.
