I think you better do your share of helping the homeless in LA first rather than criticizing people for helping others.

The major problem in Africa isn’t poverty, it’s wars. I hope they make a difference but what is needed isn’t photo shoots with poor black kids in places they never visit again. They need to work with the red cross and exisitng charities, and use the combined weight to lobby drug companies for free medicines in poor countries.

Are they trying to be the next Bill Gates? What about the name–will be interesting when they split up (as 99% of Hollywodd couples do). Paul Newman started a foundation when his son died called the Newman Foundation to give money to groups/projects helping the fight against drugs. From that small start Mr Newman now has his NewmanOwn Foundation (from his sales of sauces and dressings etc) . The NewmanOwn Foundation gives to all different kinds of charity groups and projects.

While he was creating this foundation, he still purchased and raced expensive cars all around the world. He lived in expensive homes.

Some younger people may know Mr Newman more for his dressings than his movies.

The criticism that haters are posting about the Jolie/Pitt Foundation can be placed upon even on the best celeb foundations out there.

Good Work Brad and Angelina hopefully one day your foundation will be as big as Mr Newmans.

With reference to helping “poor black ppl in LA” Wow are there no poor bl;ack asians or white ppl or hispanics in LA??? Let me give you a little secret-THERE ARE NO POOR PPL IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!! I don not know what your definition of poor is, but let me give you my story: My mother and her family (back in the mid-late fifties) were considered poor. Her dad was so lazy that he went to the meat market and gathered scraps form the garbage to bring them home to his family. Of course the meat was always infested with maggots. Mom was the oldest so she had to get some vinegar and baking soda and effervesce the maggots out. Still grandmother says when she put the meat in the skillet maggots would pop out. There were nine children. Grandmother was raised by “lazy parents” so she had to do all of the work when she was growing up. She married my grandad at age 19 (he was like 45 or something). Oh yeah they lived in a 2 bedroom shack. The last kid was born in 1960. Not having and being ridiculed made them all work their asses off. If I had to choose one thing that I learned from my mom, it would be to get educated, work for what you want, and make NO EXCUSES for what you don’t have! At age 14 my sister was sewing (with no lessons) like a professional. She made all of my clothes. Our house was so clean you could eat off the floor. Our yard was well manicured and we worked so damn hard, there wasn’t time for standing on the corner, wathching hours of TV and hanging out. We listened to the radio and read books and newspapers. If there was a Jolie-Pitt foundation that gave to poor black ppl we would have been in the “other line” you know the one where the ppl were too proud to take handouts. I am still too effing proud to take anything from anyone and so are my kids. I would rather grow food (and we did when I was a kid) in my back yard, wash my clothes in a boiling hot pot outside and hang them on a clothesline, chop down my trees and sell the firewood for money, and clean houses than to take money just for being categorized as a poor black person. Poverty is a state of mind. The word was never in our vocabulary. And last, don’t tell me there aren’t enough jobs because there are-Ppl are just picky as to what they want to do so those who really want freedom and who are self-reliant come here and gladly work those jobs-I say good for them since no one else will!

Geez, I can’t believe all the haters and complainers on this site this morning. Both BP and AJ work very hard at their jobs (acting) and contribute more than most people do in a lifetime to their charitable efforts in terms of time and energy. And they give a significant portion of their income. Both of them in interviews where the words have come out of their mouths have said how very fortunate they are to do something they love, get paid big bucks for it…. And unlike so many stars they give back. The foundation is just starting up and will continue to give more to their causes. This doesn’t mean that they don’t personally give from their earnings. How many of you haters have given a third of your income or even 10 percent to something that helps society, the environment or conservation? How many of you have adopted a child of any color that was unwanted? How many of you have done your research and really taken a good look at the works that AJ/BP do? Have you read her book Notes from My Travels? Did you read about what Brad was doing in NOLA? If you want to complain then complain about Paris taking a photo op when she gave a homeless person $100 on the way thru a fast food drive thru. That is tacky. Or Lindsay Lohan crying and moaning over the million worth of jewels that she had stolen from her because she didn’t watch her bag. People give in different ways, but the important thing is that AJ/BP are doing something–in fact more than their share. As others have noted–Paul Newman, Elizabeth Taylor, Bono etc., have all given millions to their causes and they don’t live like “normal people” either–they have their multi-million dollar houses, their security detail, their artwork, their cars etc. And you know, AJ and BP are some of the few stars that drive the same vehicles, where the same clothes and shoes to outings. AJ has had that black trench coat for what seems like forever. Do you think JA and the majority of other stars are seen over and over in the same outfit. I don’t think so.
Instead of criticitzing , why don’t you get off your lazy butts and do something for a cause you believe in!

How could you “cut them down’? First, they’re not trees ( I hope you know that) and second, they don’t even who you are. You are one of billions of internet users. Last but not least, you say they make you sick…well you know what else makes people sick and kills them, arsenic. And do you know what I do to not get sick and possibly, I AVOID it. I don’t ingest it and then complain about feeling sick. If that’s too extreme, I’ll give you another example. I can’t stand Paris Hilton but I don’t go onto her fan websites or message boards just to “cut her down every chance I get.” I’m not going to change the minds of her fans and vice-versa. Question for fellow BAMZS fans, what movies of Brad and Angie’s made you took notice of them?

My Angie one is Gia. Her performance is excellent and to me, she is one of the few actresses that’s actually talented and beautiful inside and out.

My Brad one is Fight Club. Him as Tyler was ballsy, funny and a abit scary. But I’m not going to deny that like Stephen Colbert, I couldn’t stop looking at that body. Stephen said, “I’m not gay but come on, I’m human.”

OK, last post for tonite. I’m not American and but as an American
president has an impact on my life, I do take an interest in what is
happening. I’m a liberal and would generally vote Democrat if I
were american but not always. At the moment, there isn’t a
democratic candidate I would pick. I know Hilary Clinton’s name
has been mentioned but I’m hoping that she won’t be running. I
don’t have any negative opinion about her but I think she is too
divisive a figure for America right now. After Bush, I think
America needs a leader who is generally acceptable to most
people. Right this moment, I’d vote for John McCain. At least he
understands what is it to be in a war and I believe he will use force
if necessary but only if necessary. I really do think that George
Bush had a totally unrealistic picture of what war really means.

On Bill Clinton, just 2 comments. 1. He was I think an extremely
intelligent talented president. However, he blew his chance to
make a real difference because he couldn’t keep his ****** in his
pants. For that, if I were an American, I wouldn’t be able to quite
forgive him. 2. This is a story for Bill’s fans. My ex boss told me
that he had a woman friend who was really rather anti clinton.
Then, she went to some fund raising convention or something
event. She told my ex boss who told me, that she found Clinton
incredibly charismatic and by the end of the evening, just wanted
to have his baby. I laugh whenever I hear this story. Then, I go
back to point 1 - what a bloody waste of his talent.

The admirable trait of Ms Jolie is her Resolve. How anyone can actually hate her/them for doing what they are doing is mind-blowing. We are really missing the picture here. With all that she has witnessed just like so many other people, on a more personal level she only has to look at her kids are be even MORE motivated. Maddox and Zahara wouldn’t be were they are right now. Zahara we all know would be dead and Maddox homeless are relinquishing. The beautiful wonders who have made her life so full and happy wouldn’t have had a chance. People can say all they can but she is not backing down. She is doing what is RIGHT, because it is.

There are many other celebrities who give to charity, but none of
them, Gwenyth, Clooney, Halle, Kidman etc has partners who are

These “sources” that make these claims are people who wish that they could be making millions like Brad and Angie. A lot of them are waiters, waitresses, limo drivers, bartenders, etc. and keep in mind they’re only paid when they have DIRT and the jucier it is, the higher the payday.

Pitt’s closeness to his Mr and Mrs Smith co-star Angelina Jolie is being cited as the reason for the rift.

“It’s as if Brad and Jennifer have become strangers. It’s very sad and worrying,” said one source.

The couple have appeared together in public just once in the past two months — at the Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on September 19.

Even then, their body language spoke volumes.

“They looked extremely uncomfortable with one another. Brad was distant and Jen was clingy,” said a source.

The attempt to put on a show of togetherness came days after Pitt, 40, had been reunited with Jolie, 29. They re-shot the opening sequence of Mr and Mrs Smith in Victorville, Southern California, on September 13 and 14 — and stayed in connecting hotel rooms.

Pitt and Jolie became friendly on the set of Mr and Mrs Smith earlier this year — so friendly that in May Pitt’s press agent publicly denied any relationship.

One pal witnessed the growing closeness between the pair at a barbecue that Jolie threw for the crew.

“There was loads of delicious food but Brad and Angelina were so into each other they couldn’t eat.”

Friends are also worried about the amount of time Pitt and Aniston, 35, spend apart.

On September 10, Pitt attended an “I-hate-George-Bush” fundraiser alone and he recently dined twice at a Los Angeles restaurant — alone.

This is my last post here (not that post much).
The reason is exactly what you say: The constant answers given to obvious haters.
It is very stressful to read well-thought out answers to people who don’t really want answers, just someone to respond to their hate-and unfortunately, BAMZSers oblige. Which is a magnet for the haters, and this faul circle continues.

This blog has given me a chance to see some really ugly people, and poisoned my mind with their unjustified hatred. It is bad for my mental health to keep coming back for more-it is changing the way I look at ordinary people I meet each day-the cashier, the bank teller.

I find myself wondering “Could this polite lady come to Jared and spew untold hatred towards Angie and Brad and their kids? Bad mouth everything good they do?”.

The answers to these haters show me that one can never end the argument or debate. The better the answer is, the more outrageous posts appear, accusing BA for even breathing.

So……more power to you BAMZSers, who have the stomach for the never-ending answering to the lowest human beings on the totem-pole.

#254: The Real Tita: Sad, but true to much of what you said. I was at the supermarket the other day, and spend a great deal of monies on monthly groceries. In front of me were two women, decked out in the latest clothes, tons of gold jewelry on and they were paying with food stamps! When I went to the parking lot to get into delivery van — van driver takes me home — the two couples were getting into a Lexus UV!!!!!!! Now, what’s up with that? One of the women, went straight to the front seat and gave the driver a real long hot one. When I got into the van, I told the driver, “Gee, I must be doing something wrong!” He’s from Argentina and works very hard at the supermaket. He’s a jack of all trades there. He has sent his only son to college and is very greatful for everything this country has given him. I will never forget what he said to me one night when he was taking me home, “If you work hard in this country, this country will be good to you. It has to me.”

Malibumom: The reason I’m not responding back to any of the slugs and zombies today is due to the explosions we had this morning at the Twins site. They are going through some stuff there, and we all got notices not to be scared if we heard noise. I use to work right across the street from the twins — I still do — but on the water side. The building I use to work in is called the Deutsche Bank building and that has to come down floor by floor, as they are always finding remains and have to stop. They also cannot bring down the building in one big explosion because of all the pollution. Our area gets checked ever day for air quality. My very good friend died from burns over 90% of her body. She worked in the South Tower, but was buying **** at the drug store and was blown out into the street. She was one of the very first people found. We had a little reception for her at the German Luthern church here in the City on Tuesday. September is a very trying time for me, as I remember her voice on 9/10 telling me she was faxing over the Opera schedule for the year — then 9/11 happened. We couldn’t locate her for days, then we found in the burn unit at Sloan Kettering. She held on for a month, then she left us. It was horror, just horror. I miss her so very, very much. This is why I can’t be bothered by small minded people today.

I will say this and not bring it up again. I love my country, but there are things that I don’t like about it. I’m an American citizen who pays her taxes, and I can say what I want to say, because I am an American citizen. This country was born of people expressing their opinions and I express mine. Who worked 24/7, tirelessly for this country - and unlike some monkeys we know, didn’t retire for the evening at 9pm, and take annual month long vacations in August (when his special invite to the Twin Tower destruction came in).

Now, we’ve got someone who literally GRUNTS at us like he’s taking a dump. Who sounds alternately drunk or ..and you’re praising him and trying to imply he’s a moral man??!! Corporations like the Pitt-Jolie Corporation have boards of directors who vote on how the money is spent. I am sure there are public incorporation papers that will detail who sits on the board.

Much of what I enjoy on Public TV is sponsored in large part by such corporations. The Pitt-Jolie happens to focus on children at risk. But it is foolish to think that other corporations don’t publisize their contributions. Unless they are a closed corporation, they are seeking other like-minded persons to contribute to their cause. How do you think the Gates Fooundation got the Buffet money?

Be Sane: Oh my goodness, that was some day/night. I didn’t get home until 3:00 AM in the morning. I walked home in total darkness. The bus on Madison Avenue finally came with room and stopped four long blocks from home. I said to myself, “If anyone wants to have their way with me, they can, ’cause I’m bloody tired” HA! HA! My poor niece was a crying mess all day. When the power went off I was at 280 Park Avenue. We walked down 21 flights of steps and since it was a nice day, I thought, ‘Hey, they’ll be more buses coming’. What I didn’t know just how many people wanted to get on the bloody buses!!! Silly me forgot the trains weren’t running. What a night!!! Gosh, how did you get home? Oh, we’ve had many ‘trail’ fire drills and we’re told, that if anyone feels like they want to go, they go. I think that’s the best. I’m just glad everything worked out for both of us. There was this one girl, in her last month of preggers who was so tired, some guys took their jackets off and made her a bed to lie down on. Well, her poor husband was going crazy looking for her. I finally realised what was going on and stopped him from getting into his car for the sixth time and asked him what his wife looked like. Finally, I got him to speak slowly in Italian and I was able to take him to his wife. The man cried with happiness. His wife, she was just fine and off they went. I’m not Italian, but I can get by in Italy well enough.

Oh wow… You and my husband both! Actually he was working
in Brooklyn that day and he had to cross the Brooklyn bridge, walk
ALL THE WAY to upper westside! He didn’t have any cash on
him (so careless :) thinking he can go to ATM, but alas ATM were
all out of power! So he dug deep into his bags and pockets to
come up with $1 of coins for a bottle of water, as he was getting
dehydrated walking such a long distance. Fortunately I was not
more than 20 blocks away… The scariest was actually INSIDE my
building where there was no light on the hallway! I couldn’t even
find my keyhole!!! LOL.

Gosh, I have a friend who actually was in labor that day, and gave
birth in the hospital which had emergency generator, but NO NOT
WATER! Can you imagine…. Oh I’m so glad you were able to
speak Italian! You must have looked like a shinning angel to the
poor new dad, I’m so sure!!!

On french; practically every French persons I know ADORE the
USA. As any sane people, French care about the world as well as
for the US. The two countries share so much history and blood

When we went to a farmer’s market outside some provincial town
in France a few years ago, some old guy selling chestnut liquor
(boy that was good!) asked where we were from and when we said
we were from NYC, he asked, “Are you OK? Are you still

At one point she had to use the bathroom, and some guys found a spot for her, blocked her from everyone’s view and she made the ‘pee pee’. One thing about us New Yorkers, we are an unbelievable breed when it comes to crisis. We just pull together and get things done. There were some cars driving by asking people if they needed lifts to certain parts of the City. This is what I think. I think that it is great for people to help
others. I think it is disgusting to help others and then bring

So when celebs embrace a cause, they become a voice for these people, others here about it, are moved to find out more and even donate (time, money or both). You say Ms. Aniston probably donates….probably being the operative word there because you don’t know for sure. I’m just going to leave it at that.

Yes, the subway shutdown was HORRIBLE. I had many students
who live up in Inwood and all they had was ‘A’ trains. And I also
have a friend who worked for a daycare around Wall street, and on
9/11 one little girls’ parents both didn’t come back… it was so
heart breaking… I admired your NGO work so much. I can’t
imagine the magnitude of devestation people suffered
psychologically and still are suffering from 9-11. As for the
blackout, I can’t also imagine how scary it must have been for
home-bound elderly. I was only pregnant but still had two able
feet to get me where I wanted to go. I share with you your
admiration for Jolie how she turned her young life around to put
herself to good use, without hesitation. For that I truly believe
she deserves the highest honor… I will tell you this–I sincerly
hope Brad Pitt lives up to his apparent promise and be a
deserving husband/partner to her, supporting her life and causes
as he so far has proven himself.

Erm….I think they have a foundation so that they can put money they want to give away someplace safe. That they have an advisor, one who is well known in charitable circles, shows that they intend to be informed about where/who they donate to and not just throw money at a problem. For example, sometime within the past few years, Angie donated sewing machines to a village. She didn’t just give those people some fish, she taught them HOW to fish!

I think its great that they donated any money at all. Any money is better than no money which is what alot of celebrities choose to do. But, I do not care for the Pitt/Jolie pair. I thought Gigi was talking not about the strike but that A-C line
technical problem at Chamber street station (at least I was
thinking about that one) which resulted in shutting down all
uptown services. I am always on the worker’s side and I think
most commuters understood the strike. We al know it is
appauling how MTA workers are paid.

I truly sympathize to all the transit workers who have to suffer from the demised negotiation talks. I am not attacking the MTA workers, on the contrary my line of work sides with the underdog. I think mta workers should get decent salary and benefits. I am simply pointing out that there were failures in all levels during the negotiation talks, between the Union rep., the mayors administration rep., the mta adm. which ultimately created a far more chaotic situation by putting the public in danger, especially those who are sick. It is very easy for people to judge somehow as if a transit strike is the only alternative. There were other alternative on the table, yet the union chose a tactic that ultimately backfired on them, which is ashamed because then they lost the sympathy of the public. I just hope that the mta workers have finally received what they deserve, otherwise, it was just all for nothing.

I know all about the working poor - and how they struggle everyday to survive. I work with poor people everyday. For those who claimed that this country has somehow takes care of their poor, is simply ignorant and misguided about reality. Yes, we have a welfare system created to help the poor - but it is a punitive system based on the idea that somehow poor people chose to be poor and prefer hand outs. Of course there are exceptions. To be eligible for welfare is not an easy process to go through, not to mention that welfare applicants get treated badly at welfare offices like a pariah of our society….

By the way, I have a masters in clinical social work from NYU, and I also teach field work to masters degree students from Columbia Uni. - so, I know how the social welfare system works both administratively and out in the field….

I felt Jen misled the public, telling the media again, and again that “a baby is on the way” , yet we see pics of her smoking. Either she lied or she is irreresponsible. One should not smoke if one wants to conceive.
In conclusion, it’s more than 2 years. Why cant you let go of the hate on them, focus on the future, and BE POSITIVE !!!!!

I find it very interesting and revealing that the haters are attacking the establishment of the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

To me it confirms their commitment and their total support to each other. This is where all the anger is comming from…the consolidation of two huge A-list actors…They’re building a family together, this is not a fling and their actions support this. They might not be married but Brad and Angie are doing everything to legally to join them together.

The Jolie-Pitt Foundation is combining all their charitable endeavor under one umbella. This is not the actions of a couple who are only interested in a short term relationship….they’re in it for the long term. With setting up a private charity foundation, they’re taking control of how they want their humanitarian involvement directed…this foundation will be Angie baby with Brad at her side very involved, but it seem Brad’s media and business empire building will be his baby with Angie by his side.

It appear they are dividing the work toward each other strength, again this isn’t the actions of a couple who is looking at the short term.

That’s why I’m LMAO on the haters whinning about setting up a Charity Foundation….geesh, get a life!
