Jolie/Pitt Foundation Formed

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have formed the Jolie/Pitt Foundation to aid humanitarian causes around the world. The newly formed charitable foundation is giving away $1 million to the Global Action for Children and $1 million to Doctors Without Borders, to help families affected by HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty.

The U.S. director for Global Action for Children, Jennifer Delaney, said: “Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt not only care, but more important, are taking concrete action to address the fact that there will be 20 million children orphaned by AIDS by 2010, and millions more orphaned by tuberculosis, malaria and conflict or whose parents are sick and dying.”

The couple’s spokesman, Trevor Neilson, released a statement saying: “Angelina and Brad are committed to using their resources to help the world’s most vulnerable people. These two organizations are focusing on crises that receive far too little attention and Angelina and Brad are happy to do their part to help.”

And here’s a list of Brad and Angelina’s Banksy art purchases:

  • $226,000: The “Picnic” painting depicts a white family of four merrily lunching under an umbrella on a red checked blanket while 15 starving Africans - including several children with distended bellies - look on.
  • $75,000: A white bust with a bleeding bullet hole in the forehead - was a particular favorite of Jolie’s. “She went nuts for that one,” an onlooker told the mag. “She told [her baby daddy], ‘I must have that one.’”
  • $75,000: Portrait of a man hit in the head with a custard pie.

UPDATE :: Added pictures in the galllery of the aforementioned Banksy art that Brad and Angelina purchased. Thanks, Susanne!

Alex: Wow! Another subway series — how electric would that be?

#259 AG

This is my last post here (not that post much).
The reason is exactly what you say: The constant answers given to obvious haters.
It is very stressful to read well-thought out answers to people who don’t really want answers, just someone to respond to their hate-and unfortunately, BAMZSers oblige. Which is a magnet for the haters, and this faul circle continues.

This blog has given me a chance to see some really ugly people, and poisoned my mind with their unjustified hatred. It is bad for my mental health to keep coming back for more-it is changing the way I look at ordinary people I meet each day-the cashier, the bank teller.

I find myself wondering “Could this polite lady come to Jared and spew untold hatred towards Angie and Brad and their kids? Bad mouth everything good they do?”.

The answers to these haters show me that one can never end the argument or debate. The better the answer is, the more outrageous posts appear, accusing BA for even breathing.

So……more power to you BAMZSers, who have the stomach for the never-ending answering to the lowest human beings on the totem-pole.
I don’t have it, unfortunately.

Long-live BAMZS, and may God continue to bless them in abundance!

#63: maria, why can’t you just answer the haters rants without condemning your own? Don’t you live here in the US? Yes, we have so much and yes, we still have the poor. But those people have been poor even before Bush came on the scene. Were they all rich and living well in Clinton’s admin and just became poor all of a sudden in Bush’s time? Get a grip with the BDS. Saddam made money from selling oil while under sanction from the UN and built palaces instead. His sons had trunks and trunks of money that they even burned for fun but they starved their own people. How is that this administrations fauld? Haven’t you heard of the Oil for Food Scam? The UN knew and didn’t do a thing.

When you respond to the X fans about their being ignorant of facts or always talking of the same things to stick AJ and BP with, you guys are guilty of the same things. Stick to celeb topics, not politics. This isn’t that forum.

#254: The Real Tita: Sad, but true to much of what you said. I was at the supermarket the other day, and spend a great deal of monies on monthly groceries. In front of me were two women, decked out in the latest clothes, tons of gold jewelry on and they were paying with food stamps! When I went to the parking lot to get into delivery van — van driver takes me home — the two couples were getting into a Lexus UV!!!!!!! Now, what’s up with that? One of the women, went straight to the front seat and gave the driver a real long hot one. When I got into the van, I told the driver, “Gee, I must be doing something wrong!” He’s from Argentina and works very hard at the supermaket. He’s a jack of all trades there. He has sent his only son to college and is very greatful for everything this country has given him. I will never forget what he said to me one night when he was taking me home, “If you work hard in this country, this country will be good to you. It has to me.”

This is the photo of them at the Emmys where they report Brad was distant and she was clingy (in the story I posted on page 5) -

Poor Braddy….he was in love w/ Angie - and he and Man were for all intents and purposes separated…it just hadn’t gone public.

Exactly. It’s the same with PDA. Haters foamed their mouth
saying Jolie-Pitt don’t love each other (!) because there was no
PDA like JenJen and Brad did. Now that Jolie-Pitt are ‘looking at
each other’, ‘holding hands’, haters are foaming their mouths
saying their PDA is fake. See how desperate they are finding
anything negative so brainlessly.

I know this isn’t politics based but I ahve to give my 2 cents before I go-First the best think I think we could have done with ref to terroism was to re-build the twin towers with an extra floor and dare anyone to knock them down again-renew our nuclear arms stockpile and pull out of all arab countries-put our finger on the trigger and dare north korea-Iran and any other country to strike-leave iraq along-just as we did in forming this country-when people get sick and tired of being under the thumb of a ruler, they will overthrow the ruler by themselves and gain their own independence come hell or high water-America looks like a wussy country with no backbone-we are fighting a war like sissies-If you are going to fight then dammit fight-you kill everything in sight then you burn everything in site then you dare someone else to f—with you again!

Spielberg donates large amounts to charity but does not issue a press release everytime. So many Hollywood stars also give a lot to charity. We just don’t hear about it. They do it anonymously.

in the words of Captain Jack Sparrow : ” if noone was left alive to tell the tale, than how did you know about it?….”, ..
Anyhow, if you Google Spielberg name, there are many articles regarding about him and his charity, his donation, and he did issue many press announcement regarding his donation and involvement with the WW2 memorial, the holocaust issues….you see, we know there are many people out there doing charity works, but since this is Brad and Angelina’s thread, it’s only fair to talk about them here….if I care about what SS’s charity donation, I would go to his sites and check them out….I think you should do that.

OK, here we go: For all the Slugs & Zombies Out There.

- There is no vaccine against stupidity
- Wipe you mouth, there’s still a bit of B—S— around your lips
- I’m ready to listen…are you ready to think?
- Why don’t you slip into something comfortable - like a coma
- Did you eat an extra bowl of stupid this morning?
- We don’t know what your problem is, but I bet it’s hard to pronounce
- If you have something to say, you should raise your hands and put it over their mouths
- You should not let your minds wander — they’re too small to be let out on their own
AND LAST, BUT NOT LEAST –
- SHHHHHHHHHHH, That’s the sound of nobody caring what they think!!!

Hi Estelle: I love Jack Sparrow!!! I love Mr. Depp — that cutie pie. How ya been?

No I HATE them because they lie and are PR whores!!!
EVERYTHING they do is just to make themselves look better!!
The other stars used here for examples NEVER make sure
everyone knows what they are doing. They make me sick! And I
will come here and cut them down every chance I get!
*****************************
Notice the foam gathering in the corners of Sarah’s mouth? Her
wild eyes and scowl? Jeez, Sarah, calm down! What purpose are
you serving by cutting them down every chance you get? How are
you helping the world to point out that Brad and Angie are
announcing their donations? Does that make the money less
valuable to those receiving it if they get publicity for it? Or more
valuable if you make sure everyone knows that Brad and Angie are
getting publicity for it?

More importantly Sarah, why do you care so darned much? Is this
really what you want to focus your energy on? Do they really
matter to you this much? All those who say they come here for
the entertainment value, and are not really full of hate, read
Sarah’s post and look deep within yourselves. What is really
bothering you? And why?

Malibumom: The reason I’m not responding back to any of the slugs and zombies today is due to the explosions we had this morning at the Twins site. They are going through some stuff there, and we all got notices not to be scared if we heard noise. I use to work right across the street from the twins — I still do — but on the water side. The building I use to work in is called the Deutsche Bank building and that has to come down floor by floor, as they are always finding remains and have to stop. They also cannot bring down the building in one big explosion because of all the pollution. Our area gets checked ever day for air quality. My very good friend died from burns over 90% of her body. She worked in the South Tower, but was buying **** at the drug store and was blown out into the street. She was one of the very first people found. We had a little reception for her at the German Luthern church here in the City on Tuesday. September is a very trying time for me, as I remember her voice on 9/10 telling me she was faxing over the Opera schedule for the year — then 9/11 happened. We couldn’t locate her for days, then we found in the burn unit at Sloan Kettering. She held on for a month, then she left us. It was horror, just horror. I miss her so very, very much. This is why I can’t be bothered by small minded people today.

I will say this and not bring it up again. I love my country, but there are things that I don’t like about it. I’m an American citizen who pays her taxes, and I can say what I want to say, because I am an American citizen. This country was born of people expressing their opinions and I express mine. If slugs and zombies don’t like it well too bad!!! I defend it when I have to, but I’ll not pretend not to see it’s faults. It’s still the greatest country in the world.

As a fellow New Yorker I share your pain and I feel for the loss of
your friend. I personally know someone who evacuated from
Goldman/Sachs amid falling bodies from the tower. I was holding
my 6 months old daughter thinking, “Did I do the right thing
bringing her into this horrible world” that day.

Just now I got asked to recommend anyone to receive an
honorary degree from my institution. I think I will recommend
Jolie :) She is a bit young for this but has done so much in a very
short time, a bright example to all.

#205: Be sane, I know you’re married to a French guy but I don’t know what your original nationality was. I just have to correct you on one thing. If you have to throw insults, learn about who you’re talking about first.

President Bush is from CT, not really from TX. He comes from a long line of statesmen and like Kerry, can trace his antecedents to the English throne. Clinton on the other hand, is from AK, with dubious parentage. If you doubt me, look it up. I will not do your research for you but if you find that I’m lying, I will apologize to you from here till sundown.

You should really practice what you preach. Back it up with facts. Show me where he is an uncultured redneck…unless CT has moved from the East to the South. Bush is a preppie frat boy who went to Yale and Harvard for an MBA. Just because his tongue is not as glib as that Arkansas guy doesn’t mean he’s some hick. Plus I’d trust a born again Christian over some amoral social climber who carries a heavy bible but really doesn’t subscribe to any religion.

Anna great post, I couldn’t have said it better. ITA it is really stressful reading the blogs from the haters.

These haters are only weeping babies. I’m sure if we ever meet in person wtih them, it would turn out that they are sad, lonely, fat little, immature teens.

I know you are a Republican, and I know GWB is from CT with his
myterious Texan accent. I meant what I said about his main
supporters. On his education and where he went, don’t forget
where his daddy went to school, and his family connections
(Bushs are remote relatives to the Queen of England). I do not
back out on your President’s ‘uncultured’ nature either. He
makes his point of being that way to appeal to what he calls the
majority of this country. Recently I travelled to Lithuania where
he visited, and they were appauled that he stayed inside the
hotel, never visited any cultural sites, never even eating any local
food but ordered MacDonalds! I know we will never agree on
politics, real tita.

You are assuming because my husband is French we hate
America. He is planning on getting his citizenship soon. We live
and work here, pay hefty amount of tax, and our children are
Americans. We love and care about the world and the future of
this wonderful country.

At the end of my comment I did say we are here for BAMZS and
we are their supporters, bipartisans.

remember da truth @ 09/21/2006 at 4:38 pm

Real Tita, the senior Bush is more Connecticut than the son. And
culture has nothing to do with ancestors, just as class has
nothing to do with money. Going to a school your father did
because you’re a rich son does not make you smart, and
becoming a born-again Christian while laughing as you condemn a
fellow born-again Christian to death does not make you a true
disciple of Jesus. Go back and read the parts of the Bible that deal
with the Pharisees. They subscribed to a certain religion, followed
all the rules, and were as judgemental of others as Bush, but
notice how Jesus felt about them.
Loving America is not about ignoring her faults but about wanting
her to be the best she can be. And America can be better right
now — she has in the past, and God willing, will be again. This is a
dark hour right now for America, but there is hope that she will
shine again.
Now, as Be Sane says, we are here for BAMZS, not to promote
partisan politics.

#275. Hi. Real Tita: I know about Bush’s family being East Coast folk. I wonder, just wonder what this administration would have done with Jeb Bush in office. I remember his mother saying, “He’s the intelligent one”. I still love Clinton and always will. One thing I will say about Bush and his ‘religious beliefs’. Religion should NEVER be brought into political world. Look what it’s done in so many countries already. They should remain separate and never interfer in governing. If you’ve strong religious beliefs, this is fine, just done justify running a country — any country off what you believe. That’s very dangerous and has proven so throughout history. Look at Spain. They had intelligent Jews & Muslims that had to either change to Catholic or leave the country. So many great people left because of a Queen (Isabella) who was a staunch Catholic. Look at the ‘Bloody’ Mary/Queen Elizabeth era. Both Protestants and Catholics at each other throats for power, etc. No, religion is something you carry in your heart. It’s a ‘personal’ choice. That’s how, I feel, and I’m Roman Catholic.
======================
Be Sane: It’s five years and it’s still so very raw. Just when you think you can deal with it, 9/11 comes again and I relive it all again. HATE IT!!

People spouting off like you, really sicken me.

Sometimes I have to wonder what is wrong with those Americans who even after the nightmare we’ve been living under Bush - who is a JOKE in 110 languages, and who to the tune of more than 100,000 DEAD under his watch and 400 BILLION spent on a ’so-called’ WAR, making Iraq, of all places, a democracy while Osama parties on and continues to make his videos taunting us after murdering 3000 on home soil…

….yet then had the the nerve to denigrate President Clinton, a man who commandeered a booming healthy economy, engendered good will throughout the world by ushering in a truly Global society where we were all interconnected, where we still had respect the world over (Bush is ridiculed, and countries RIOT wherever/whenever he visits), where our economy was healthy and booming - our crime rate had dropped significantly, unemployment was at an all time low….a man who when he spoke conversed intelligently, inspiringly, poignantly and optimistically. Who worked 24/7, tirelessly for this country - and unlike some monkeys we know, didn’t retire for the evening at 9pm, and take annual month long vacations in August (when his special invite to the Twin Tower destruction came in).

Now, we’ve got someone who literally GRUNTS at us like he’s taking a dump. Who sounds alternately drunk or ..and you’re praising him and trying to imply he’s a moral man??!! That’s the most disgusting thing I’ve ever heard. YOU ought to be ashamed The same person who took his sweet @ss time signing the voting rights act. The same person who ridiculed McCain and his adopted Indian daughter. The same person who spoke at racist Bob Jones University. The same person who let his citizens drown in Katrina, who started a war that’s killed over 100,000 so far, who let 9/11happen on his watch, who’s let the worst terrorist in history esacpe unscathed, who’s committed treasonous actions exposing our own agents only because they didn’t follow the playbook and make the case for his unnecessary war, who raises gas prices to the hilt - not because he hast to, but because he CAN ( and if gas dropping 60 cents in 3 days to you is normal and natural, I’m sure you’re up to buy whatever bullsh** he’s selling on any given day).

Born again? MY *SS. Fact is we’re being REAMED by Mr frat boy, and YOU *LOVE* it, Ms. Tita.

Why you’re so enamoured, only YOU know.

find myself wondering “Could this polite lady come to Jared and spew untold hatred towards Angie and Brad and their kids? Bad mouth everything good they do?”.

I know exactly how you feel. I used to read every post on every thread. Now I only read some of the regulars who I know have great information to pass along. I posted more today than I have in along time. Thanks for a great post.

Corporations like the Pitt-Jolie Corporation have boards of directors who vote on how the money is spent. I am sure there are public incorporation papers that will detail who sits on the board.

Much of what I enjoy on Public TV is sponsored in large part by such corporations. The Pitt-Jolie happens to focus on children at risk. But it is foolish to think that other corporations don’t publisize their contributions. Unless they are a closed corporation, they are seeking other like-minded persons to contribute to their cause. How do you think the Gates Fooundation got the Buffet money?

Now just a wwrd about Angelina and Brad. They are an international couple. All the folks who complain about them are so insignificant. Not a one has ever met them or worked with them,

I don’t have any beef with Jeffiner Anniston either. She is cute and talented. She has a wonderful sense of style that I could never duplicate.

AJ is just in another league. Say what you will about Jon Voight, he gifted her with one great set of genes. When I worked on Capitol Hill, she testified. There wasn’t one person who sat on the panel that day that missed her testimony and the staff fell all over themselves to accommodate her. She is a young lady growing up very magnificently. Children have given her a new maturity. People who say she is wierd should define that word because if you mean different, she is creative and that is unique.

Be Sane: I love the French!!! Yup! I sure do. I don’t care who knows it either. I’ve visited many parts of France and I can tell you that I NEVER, NEVER, had a rude issue with any — city or country — person in France. You see, I treat all people like I want to be treated when go abroad. I also feel like I’m an ambassador of the US and want to make sure that people don’t view us in a negative way. Your children should be proud that they are half French. Get those history books out and teach them both French & American history — great stuff. Oh, and Marie Antoniette did not say ‘Let them eat cake” That’s not one bit true! HA! HA!
====================
OK, no more political ‘caca’. Let’s get back to the good stuff - Brad & Angie!!

the real tita @ 09/21/2006 at 4:49 pm

#268: malibumom, you get it for sure! This is one of the most sensible comments I have read in this site. The reason the terrorists think they are winning is because they know that the Americans have no stomach for fighting in earnest. If people would just show some backbone or solidarity, this war would have been over ages ago. What Americans don’t realize is that the enemy is counting on the partisan divide and that the greatest deterrent is a show of unity.

We can bicker all we want amongst ourselves on other matters but when it comes to national security, we should all be aligned. That is one way to avoid a war….sadly, we are playing into the enemies hands with our show of cowardice and negativity.

I know… did you feel this way a week or so ago, when that first
days of September with clear blue sky and the cool dry air hits,
the first thing on my mind is, “This is exactly how it was” on 9/11.
It’s an invigorating, energetic day, filled with very very sad and
unsettling feeling. It is a very odd feeling at the beginning of the
season and as long as I live in NYC I don’t think I would ever get
over it.

Were you here on that power blackout in 2003? I was 8 months
pregnant and was on the 3rd floor at the Linclon Center library.
The first thing on my mind was, “oh no, again”. I actually
disobeyed the security’s instruction to remain calm and stay put,
and went right to the stairwell and made my self outside. I
couldn’t help myself.
