Jolie/Pitt Foundation Formed
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have formed the Jolie/Pitt Foundation to aid humanitarian causes around the world. The newly formed charitable foundation is giving away $1 million to the Global Action for Children and $1 million to Doctors Without Borders, to help families affected by HIV/AIDS and extreme poverty.
The U.S. director for Global Action for Children, Jennifer Delaney, said: “Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt not only care, but more important, are taking concrete action to address the fact that there will be 20 million children orphaned by AIDS by 2010, and millions more orphaned by tuberculosis, malaria and conflict or whose parents are sick and dying.”
The couple’s spokesman, Trevor Neilson, released a statement saying: “Angelina and Brad are committed to using their resources to help the world’s most vulnerable people. These two organizations are focusing on crises that receive far too little attention and Angelina and Brad are happy to do their part to help.”
And here’s a list of Brad and Angelina’s Banksy art purchases:
- $226,000: The “Picnic” painting depicts a white family of four merrily lunching under an umbrella on a red checked blanket while 15 starving Africans - including several children with distended bellies - look on.
- $75,000: A white bust with a bleeding bullet hole in the forehead - was a particular favorite of Jolie’s. “She went nuts for that one,” an onlooker told the mag. “She told [her baby daddy], ‘I must have that one.’”
- $75,000: Portrait of a man hit in the head with a custard pie.
UPDATE :: Added pictures in the galllery of the aforementioned Banksy art that Brad and Angelina purchased. Thanks, Susanne!

I just found out the artwork purchased by Brad and Angie represent different forms of social and political injustice.

cheers Grandma.. I loved your post. :)
Be Sane: Oh my goodness, that was some day/night. I didn’t get home until 3:00 AM in the morning. I walked home in total darkness. The bus on Madison Avenue finally came with room and stopped four long blocks from home. I said to myself, “If anyone wants to have their way with me, they can, ’cause I’m bloody tired” HA! HA! My poor niece was a crying mess all day. When the power went off I was at 280 Park Avenue. We walked down 21 flights of steps and since it was a nice day, I thought, ‘Hey, they’ll be more buses coming’. What I didn’t know just how many people wanted to get on the bloody buses!!! Silly me forgot the trains weren’t running. What a night!!! Gosh, how did you get home? Oh, we’ve had many ‘trail’ fire drills and we’re told, that if anyone feels like they want to go, they go. I think that’s the best. I’m just glad everything worked out for both of us. There was this one girl, in her last month of preggers who was so tired, some guys took their jackets off and made her a bed to lie down on. Well, her poor husband was going crazy looking for her. I finally realised what was going on and stopped him from getting into his car for the sixth time and asked him what his wife looked like. Finally, I got him to speak slowly in Italian and I was able to take him to his wife. The man cried with happiness. His wife, she was just fine and off they went. I’m not Italian, but I can get by in Italy well enough.
Cliniqua: Girl, I ADORE you posts. You are too bloody cool for me!! How you doin? I am so proud of myself, Clin. Didn’t lose the temper once today. Gosh, I need to go home and have a beer!!! HA! HA!

Oh wow… You and my husband both! Actually he was working
in Brooklyn that day and he had to cross the Brooklyn bridge, walk
ALL THE WAY to upper westside! He didn’t have any cash on
him (so careless :) thinking he can go to ATM, but alas ATM were
all out of power! So he dug deep into his bags and pockets to
come up with $1 of coins for a bottle of water, as he was getting
dehydrated walking such a long distance. Fortunately I was not
more than 20 blocks away… The scariest was actually INSIDE my
building where there was no light on the hallway! I couldn’t even
find my keyhole!!! LOL.
Gosh, I have a friend who actually was in labor that day, and gave
birth in the hospital which had emergency generator, but NO NOT
WATER! Can you imagine…. Oh I’m so glad you were able to
speak Italian! You must have looked like a shinning angel to the
poor new dad, I’m so sure!!!
the other thread is about “is it a tatoo”.
I just dont see how this can be an intelligent topic.

On french; practically every French persons I know ADORE the
USA. As any sane people, French care about the world as well as
for the US. The two countries share so much history and blood
(sooo many French origins here). It is just the stupidity to
demonize Europeans who disagree–wait wait I don’t start again—
Arrête le caca :)
When we went to a farmer’s market outside some provincial town
in France a few years ago, some old guy selling chestnut liquor
(boy that was good!) asked where we were from and when we said
we were from NYC, he asked, “Are you OK? Are you still
traumatized?” He was concerned for New Yorkers.

I concur!
Be Sane: Oh my goodness that poor woman. At least she was in hospital. Oh the dad to be was so relieved. His wife thanked me as well, gave me hugs and kisses. At one point she had to use the bathroom, and some guys found a spot for her, blocked her from everyone’s view and she made the ‘pee pee’. One thing about us New Yorkers, we are an unbelievable breed when it comes to crisis. We just pull together and get things done. There were some cars driving by asking people if they needed lifts to certain parts of the City. I heard one person ask ‘how much’, and the driver said, “You kidding lady, don’t even ask me that question. Get in and we’ll get you home’. So many amazing stores to tell.

You got that one!! Why would I want to talk about a tatoo. I posted one remark and that’s it. Now, if he took his clothes off, then I’d have something to say — NAUGHTY ME!!

ITA on us New Yorkers. There were no street lights working on
Broadway and I saw some very well dressed businessmen as well
as some old gradma with handbags standing in the middle of the
crossroads, directing traffic! It was awesome to see and I wished
I had a camera! That’s great about those drivers you saw!
People were actually worried about riots, but no, some restaurants
around here offered free drinks and wine glasses, and people were
sitting outside sipping wine and having a great time. It was so
civilzed almost looked like Europe–here I go again LOL
Be Sane: I know what you mean to say about civilized. You meant we didn’t act stupid! HA! HA! I’m so glad everyone acted right, and not out of their minds. And we do have so many restaurant now with outside sitting like in Europe. I love that bit.

#280: maria, I don’t see where the president is trying to convert anyone, do you? John Kerry was all up and down about his Catholicism and Clinton was always being shown toting a heavy bible on Sundays at election time…Jesse Jackson if he’d been elected would have not suddenly been shedding his reverend image just because he became president, would he? What exactly is the diff again?
This country was founded on Judeo-Christian principles. The founding fathers believed in separation of church and state, yet they espoused God in their writings and speech. For you not to hear any mention of any religion from your leaders, you need to elect an atheist.
If it’s any consolation, should the terrorists take over, you will be rid of the Christians that’s for sure.
Everybody will just have one religion. Even Chavez will not be doing the sign of the cross while speaking before the UN.
they have to stick her tv sit-com hack name in there somewhere. Good work Kev & Steve.

Kevin Huvane is Brad and JA agent, I always tought that was really weird, after all that happend last year I was hoping he would change agents. I remember reading on TMZ that Brad had dinner with Bryan Lourd, maybe he moved with him? anyone know?
And, Details putting “Jen´s men as No 1″ is lame.
Be Sane: I adore, just adore the ready made sandwiches they sell in Paris. I especially love the tuna/egg/tomato/lettuce ones on the rolls. One day when I went to get one, the store didn’t have tuna and I told my friend, “What’s that about — they don’t have tuna”. The owner heard me and told me to wait. He made me a fresh one. My friends just rolled their eyes and walked away because I have this thing about getting when other’s don’t. Like I said, you treat people nice, they treat you nice.

Be Sane and Maria,
I cannot help myself but to share with you as well my experiences during 911 and the big Blackout in 2003 here in NY city. I am actually a regular lurker of this site (way before Angelina declared that she was pregnant- big admirer of her) and I rarely post since I enjoyed lurking more ( I am writing a book about blogs including this blog). I also live in nyc (downtown Manhattan). I work as an administrator of one of the non-profit organizations here in the city. During 911, we literally were helping people escaping from the twin towers collapsed – it was one the most devastating day of my life to witness human sufferings at the same time, human altruism in every possible way.
As for the 2003 blackout – that was also a very difficult time especially for our 1100 homebound clients trapped in their apartments (some without help from their families). I manage a home care program for the infirm, homebound elderly and chronic patients, so that was such a challenged for us to ensure that our patients get their basic needs (food, water, and medication). Not only it was difficult for our 400 home care workers to travel to their patients, it was also difficult for all our staff to come to work. But like any true new Yorkers, we always triumph against all odds…..And don’t get me started with last year’s transit shut down – it was a total failure in all levels involved without thinking the potential damage to people’s lives…..
#300 The Real Tita: OK, let’s finish this. Everyone is entitled to speak about their religion, just don’t bring it into politics — I don’t care who’s running — I personally don’t like it. As far as that jerk Chavez is concerned, he should go back to Venezuela and keep his bloody remarks about our Prsident to his mess there. He’s our president, and we can talk bad or good about him, you dont’ come to my country and diss our president. We sure the heck don’t go to your country and diss your president. I could not believe that idiot!! Now, let’s talk about Brad & Angie OK, NO MORE CACA POLITICS!!! OK?
Hey ‘Real Deals’ have to get going. Will try and get on tonight before I hit bed. It’s been a fun day so far.

Gigi: I’m going to read your post when I get home — have to wait for niece to get to bed first — HA! HA!

Missouri Mama: Where you at? I miss you. Have you posted today? I haven’t seen anything from you? How’s my nephew doing? Hugs and kisses to the little guy from his Auntie in New York.
CLINIQUA,
YOU GO GIRL. YOU ARE JUST GREAT!!!!!!
#281: cliniqua, i know you admire Clinton because he is articulate and sexy (ewww..that made me sick right there). His claim to fame is an economy that was due to the dotcom boom and the Lewinsky so how is that so great? You like him and I like Bush..nothing new there. But don’t tell me he’s never been a liar, a pervert nor has he never been cursed at or laughed at by other than Americas. He was lucky not to have been a sitting president in this day of the cyber age. If he had been, he would have been ran out on a rail. At least they’re not naming whorehouses after Bush or cringing at how Clinton pees on the green in Scotland.
Whatever Bush’ sins are, he is not a grifter, an “alledged” rapist, a petty thief, a hypocrite. For all that they say about the death penalty, it should never be abolished.
911 happened on Bush’s watch but the plans were hatched on Clinton’s. If he’d done something before the Khobar towers, the Cole and the first Twin Towers bombing, the terrorists wouldn’t have thought they could get away with impunity the next time they attack the US. North Korea wouldn’t have nuclear reactors and China wouldn’t have nuclear secrets in exhange for campain contributions. And speaking of bloodshed, what about Somalia and Waco? Who’s responsible for the deaths there? Your guy is a creep and a sleazebucket. Education and the highest title in the land could not eradicate that blotch in his character.
#3o6: maria, okay. no more politics. We are here because of AJ and BP and we have enough haters to contend with without us bickering amongst each other.
Gotta go. See you guys tomorrow.
It is really sad that these two, get criticized so much, for DONATING money to charity:
How come, they only donated this much?
How come this?How come that?
Why not this? Why not that?
Why aren’t they donating, to this cause or that cause?
It’s really sad. All they want to do, is just to help people……

… and moving on with their lives. Imagine their nerve, not twisting themselves into knots because X and her ilk are ticked off at them. They didn’t observe the grace period, made up on the fly by people praying for a ‘Golden’ reunion.
Everything they do is wrong; they got together, they decided to be a family, they had a baby, they left the country to have some privacy, gave proceeds for Shiloh’s pics to charity, left some money to hospitals in Namibia, started building projects in NO, and actually worked in their given professions.
They don’t get trashed, verbally abuse rivals/frenemies, shoplift/piss about their undeserved swag, make internet-ready porn, or commit crimes, yet skate because of their celebrity and money. Instead, they use what they have to better other people’s lives; just because some of you are hung up on a particular ‘perceived’ wrong they did to ‘you’ won’t erase what are doing and what they will do together or jointly.
This is what I think. I think that it is great for people to help
others. I think it is disgusting to help others and then bring
attention to yourself for it. Look at me, look what I did! It’s like
one day in a manic episode they thought they were going to save
the world and be the king & the queen. And what is sadder is
that some of you freaks can just put aside all your morals because
they decide to garner publicity for giving. It says in the BIBLE to
give out of charity and to not bring attention to yourself for it.
Just like praying, God hears the prayers of a man by himself alone
more than some one who boasts about it in front of others. This
is why I really dislike these two. God appreciates a poor person’s
dollar gift more than a huge gift for the wrong reasons. They will
not have to do without anything at all because of this attention
getting ploy. Whereas I know several people who cannot afford to
and give10% of their income. They do without and they do not
advertise it, you would never know. And as for Jennifer, why can’t
you people just let it go? Just leave her alone already. I
guarantee you when they are at the pearly gates, that Jennifer will
have probably done more for others than these two. All you
people who think that she deserved to get this treatment from
Brad because Angelina is more beautiful deserve the same fate.
You are all very disgusting people.
