I know a lot of men who are perfectly happy being single. They have every excuse in the world why they’re not ready to get married.I thought I had heard everything until I read why Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie say they won’t be tying the knot anytime soon.
In an interview in the current issue of Esquire magazine, Brad said he and Angelina won’t consider getting married until - quote - “everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able.”
Obviously, Brad is trying to be a social activist and make a point about dropping the restrictions on who is allowed to get married and who isn’t in this country. Or at least that’s what he wants people to think. Maybe he’s just come up with an excellent way to stay a bachelor.
It makes him look really concerned about the plight of other people. Yet at the same time, he doesn’t have to get married. This guy is smarter than I thought.

Madonna Makes Like Angelina?

Most people return home from trips abroad with snow globes and Toblerone. Needless to say, Madonna is not most people.
The Material Girl may or may not have gotten in touch with her maternal side Wednesday as conflicting reports surfaced as to whether or not she adopted a child shortly after arriving in Africa on a humanitarian mission to help the region’s impoverished AIDS orphans.

Officials in Malawi confirmed to Reuters earlier today that Madonna adopted a one-year-old boy, selected from a group of 12 children that adoption officials had meet with the pop star.
“She asked us to identify boys only, which we have done after visiting four orphanages in Lilonge,” Andrina Mchiela, the secretary for the Ministry for Gender and Child Welfare, told reporters, per the wire service.
Mchiela said that the “Hung Up” singer and husband Guy Ritchie had originally planned on adopting a girl, but changed their mind two weeks ago. The name of the boy was not released.
Possibly because he never existed.
Madonna’s longtime publicist, Liz Rosenberg, denied the adoption report to E! News, saying the singer has not made any additions to her family.
“I can confirm Madonna is in Malawi on a private visit,” Rosenberg said. “Despite reports stating otherwise, she has not adopted a baby boy.
“She is building an orphanage and child-care center and is involved in other initiatives geared toward helping children orphaned by AIDS through the Raising Malawi organization.”
While the couple had never spoken publicly about plans to adopt, Mchiela told Reuters that the government had already exempted the twosome from Malawi’s ban on nonresidents filing for adoption.
However, Mchiela was later quoted by the Associated Press saying Madonna and Richie would be subjected to the same adoption process as everyone else, requiring an 18-month waiting period before being able to take a child home.
The non-adoption news could explain the absence of Ritchie, 37, from the trip. He’s apparently with the couple’s bona fide brood, son, Rocco, 5, and daughter Lourdes, 9, who Madonna had with personal trainer Carlos Leon.
New mother or not, Madonna is doing plenty to help the children of Africa.
In August, Madonna spoke to Time magazine about her increasing desire to help the Africa’s more than 12 million orphans, a promise she apparently kept her word on.
“For the last few years–now that I have children and now that I have what I consider to be a better perspective on life–I have felt responsible for the children of the world,” she said.
“I’ve been doing bits and bobs about it and I suppose I was looking for a big, big project I could sink my teeth into.”
She arrived with a 10-strong entourage in Malawi Wednesday morning to make good on her promise, launching six large scale projects designed to help underprivileged children in the country.
The pop star is expected to travel to the electricity-free village of Mphandula Thursday, where construction on Raising Malawi, an education and feeding center that broke ground two months ago. The center is expected to feed and educate up to 1,000 Malawi children.
Madonna also announced plans to raise at least $3 million for the region, with the funds going toward the center as well as setting up additional economic, food and health programs for the area.
She is also financing a $1 million documentary about the region’s orphans and met with Bill Clinton about bringing low-cost medicine to residents.
Madonna, who tried to draw attention to the humanitarian problems facing Africa via her controversy-courting mock-crucifixion during her recent Confessions world tour, is the latest celebrity to join the cause.
Gwyneth Paltrow recently appeared in the well-intentioned but widely mocked print ad for KeepAChildAlive.org, with the tagline: “I am African.” George Clooney toured Sudan’s Darfur region last month for a documentary of the war-torn region and has urged the UN Security Council to intervene with peacekeeping troops.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, who are arguably at the forefront of the charitable movement, announced last month that they’ll donate $2 million to the humanitarian organizations Global Action for Children and Doctors Without Borders. After their daughter Shiloh was born in Namibia, they also donated $300,000 to local hospitals.
In early 2005, Scorsese came close to winning a long-overdue Academy Award for directing “The Aviator,” which still ended up with more Oscars (5) than any previous Scorsese picture. “The Departed” is being pitched as his latest contender, the one that may earn him the top prize after such best-picture nominees as “Taxi Driver,” “Raging Bull” and “GoodFellas” failed to pull it off.

We always seem to be looking for hidden meanings in Brad’s words - things that allude to how he really felt during the last few years of the X period and these quotes pretty much sum it up for me. He wants to stay a regular guy, true to himself and his family and not be thought of someone ABOVE OTHERS. And X definitely ain’t with that program. She uses everyone and everything to hoist herself to the top of the importance mountain. Good for Brad. It’s nice to know that there are still some celebs who don’t think they’re special because they can cry on cue.

Hollywood’s hottest stars, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, arrived in Pune today for the shooting of a film on American journalist Daniel Pearl who was slain by the Taliban in Afghanistan.
Jolie, Pitt and a few members of their families arrived at Pune International Airport at about 3 pm by a chartered plane belonging to the Raymonds firm, airport sources said. They then drove in two cars to Le Meridien Hotel, according to the same sources. There was not much security for the Hollywood stars, whose visit has generated a lot of media interest.
The production unit, besides booking two posh hotels for the stars, their family and crew members, have also taken a couple of private bungalows on rent. One of the bungalows on Baner Road, on the outskirts of the city, also has a helipad. The film A Mighty Heart, scripted by the slain journalist’s wife Marianne, is co-produced by Pitt’s production company. Jolie stars as Pearl’s spouse.
Pune was chosen because part of its landscape bears similarities to Karachi, where Marianne spent one month from the day she learnt about Daniel Pearl’s kidnapping until the latter’s beheading by his abductors in Taliban-ruled Afghanistan. Since Sunday, hordes of mediapersons, including photographers, have been scouring the city for information on the actors.

Actually Madonna is now following AJ/BP’s Africa mission’s with her own MALAWI project. She’s finally doing something meaningful to her millions.
Lately she has been the object of some scrutiny from the Vatican.I think it has something to do with the crucifixion portion of her show. Time to

A dinner that Angie DIDN’T go to. Supposedly she was tired or sick if you believe the British tabs. Maybe she just didn’t go because she didn’t want to put up with Madonna’s faux-Brit snobbishness. Maybe Angie doesn’t like Madonna. Lord knows I can certainly understand that because I can’t stand the woman.
You mentioned that Angie had once listed Madonna as one of her music idols, but plenty of people admire someone…until they actually meet them! Of course she could still like Madonna’s music and not like Madonna. Although, that’s pretty hard to do. I can’t stand Michael Bolton…because of his music! Ergo, I don’t like him because his music is created out of who he is, not vice versa.
I think we all agree thought that if Lainey is correct and Madonna can’t stand Angie…then it comes down to jealousy. That’s what makes Madonna being in Africa with Jeffrey Sachs so funny. The Millenium Villages is one of Angie’s pet projects. And while it’s great to see someone as self-involved as Madonna FINALLY visibly reaching out and helping others the humor isn’t lost on me that she’s FOLLOWING and not leading and that’s new to her and I’m sure she doesn’t like it one bit. She always wants to be the trendsetter not the trend-follower. It’s just one more thing that Angie’s stolen her thunder on.
And I too love the “meandering” quote. His friends said the same thing I recall. I think Lainey or someone mentioned it a long time ago. His life simply lost its focus while he was with Aniston. Well he has found it for sure now !

Brad Pitt is amazed when he looks back on the past 18 months of his life because there has been so many dramatic changes. Pitt split from ex-wife Jennifer Aniston in January 2005 and began dating his Angelina Jolie. By December, Pitt announced he was applying to be the adoptive father of Jolie’s already adopted children Maddox and Zahara Marley.
And in May this year, Jolie gave birth to the couple’s first biological child Shiloh Nouvel in Namibia.

Why are you so quick to believe that Madonna “hates” AJ? Because Lainey said it? The word Hate should scream tabloid to you. She could have just said Madonna doesn’t care for AJ. She used the word hate, so I would think it’s false. As a Madonna watcher from the beginning of her career, I’m more inclined to say that maybe Madonna is jealous of AJ. But thenthat does not make any sense. They do have common links. You must remember that Madonna is the Queen of image makers. Maybe, AJ reminds Madonna of her younger self or who she really wants to be today. Anyway don’t be so quick to latch on to any tabloid story.
Do any of you all think that Brad & AJ will be doing the Bollywood nightlife by hanging out with all these Bollywood celebrities? I don’t think so.
