Angelina Jolie’s Bodyguard Lays The Smackdown

PUNE: Indian and foreign media may not have been able to get a clear glimpse of the elusive Hollywood stars, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

However, it did succeed in grounding Brangelina at Hotel Le Meridien, throughout Saturday.

The Hollywood stars, who had attempted to sneak out of the hotel on Friday, a day after their arrival, had backed away because of intense media glare. On Saturday evening, they had to cancel their scheduled visit to the shooting site at Baner, because of the large number of journalists thronging the hotel premises, said a source.

The pressure on Brangelina’s personal security showed on Saturday afternoon when one of the personal security guards got hold of a British paparazzi by the neck and abused him for being a pain.

The couple has been successful in hoodwinking the media so far, largely because of the watertight security at Le Meridien. According to experienced professionals in the hospitality industry, security of the stars is the top priority of hotel authorities and it’s achieved through utmost secrecy.

Barring a very close net of people, who are aware of their movements, none of the hotel staff is allowed to interact with them or is intimated about their schedule.

All instructions are given out by their celebrity coordinator, directly to this core group. The only people likely to interact with Pitt and Jolie first-hand, are the guest relations officer, the front operation manager, the room service and the general manager of Le Meridian.

Although conducting morning meetings to take care of special requirements, particularly their food, is a usual practise, regular hotel staff is not allowed to talk about it.

For Le Meridian employees, the official line that they have been instructed to hand out is, “Pitt and Jolie are not staying with us”.

A couple of days before the stars actually arrive, their security comes and checks out the rooms. Usually, star guests are whisked straight from the lobby to the rooms on the fifth floor. Pitt and Jolie, were, however, taken straight from the basement to the fifth floor and checked in almost immediately after the customary ‘arti-tika’.

All instructions are being given out by their co-ordinator to the select group of people, confirmed an official at Le Meridian. Interestingly, a senior chef at Le Meridien claimed that no special food request has been made by the star couple so far.

“They must be ordering through room service. I have not received and special request as yet,” he said. The general manager customarily takes special care of such celebrity guests and sends goodies up to their room, throughout the day.

“Unless and until they specially mention that they would not like to be disturbed, guest relations employees make regular calls to find out if the celebrities need anything during the day,” said an industry professional.
“Moreover, the general manger sends them wine or champagne, with his best compliments as a welcome gesture, soon after they check in.”

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie arrived in Pune, on Thursday afternoon, in a private aircraft. The couple flew down from Mumbai along with their two children and two other people, one of them a woman, in a Bombardier aircraft belonging to the Raymonds group at 2.40 pm.

Never ever ever did I see what everyone else seemed to see in DiCaprio back in the Titanic days. I just could not get worked up over a guy who looked like a 12-year-old boy.

But HOLY HELL, has he grown up!!!

He was my favorite thing about The DEPARTED which, to me, is shocking because besides Titanic, I’ve only seen The AVIATOR and did not like him for 2 out of the 3 hours. I have tried to keep a “No Leo Movies” policy.

In this movie he’s sexy and mature and nuanced and for as much as he’s able, he underplayed his role and as a result, was right on the money!

I couldn’t stop looking at him and finally saw the beauty that is Leonardo Dicaprio. He was so good that I think I’ll go see BLOOD DIAMOND despite the fact that I think his accent in that one is ridiculous!

I liked the movie although I thought it was about 20-30 minutes too long but I don’t think it’s going to win Best Picture, and given the history Scorsese has with the Academy, I think this movie could be one of those “shocking snubs” in that it doesn’t get nominated for Best Picture AT ALL. While the acting on all accounts was terrific, the movie as a whole felt a little lightweight to me. And with all the in-your-face violence, I don’t know if that is the movie to follow CRASH as B.P. winner (even though I HATED CRASH and this movie is so much better).

Anyway, we shall see.

Hi, I’m from India. We love Angelina Jolie. We worship the ground that she walks on. We hope she does adopt a baby or more. i want her to explore india because there are so many different parts of India and each so different. I hope Angelina knows this. We think she’s holy… like a Goddess. If she came near my home, we would throw flowers at her. I’m thinking about getting my family to open up a school under her name and put a statue or plaque of her describing her endeavors. She is the modern day Mother Theresa. She lives for other children.

I see it was a crazy night here on JJ. Even Angie J. posted here, and a lot of lunatics lol. I hope, the indian police and security will handle this situation well. The first days have beeen crazy enough. Poor Brad and Angie, they had to take a walk at 4 a. m.
