Angelina Jolie’s Bodyguard Lays The Smackdown
Here are better pictures of Angelina Jolie sitting poolside at Le Meridien Hotel yesterday in Pune, about 200 kilometers southeast of Mumbai, India. Inset: Angelina’s security officer, Mickey Brett, manhandling paparazzi outside of Le Meridien. Angelina is in Pune to shoot Micheal Winterbottom’s A Mighty Heart, a film about American journalist Daniel Pearl who was slain by terrorists in Pakistan four years ago. Angelina plays Daniel’s widow Mariane. More pictures in the gallery…

I thinks it is not as bad as being potrayed or Brad and Angelina would not have been on that ricshaw(sp) . Brad has had to deal with pap and fans while filming in other countries. They just need to move out of the hotel and get more space between Brad and Angei and the paps. I sure they will be handle this.
The way India is, you cannot avoid the papz or the people. It is an overpopulated country with over 1 billion people in a country that is probably smaller than the american state of Texas. So everywhere they go, there will be people. Unless they go to some other parts of India, away from the metropolitan area.

It has nothing to do with the people or avoiding the people which Brad and Angelina NEVER do. It’s about the insanity and frezy of the press there and the constant reporting of information on them down to the numbers of their hotel suites. That is NOT cool. They were guaranteed privacy, secuirty and some freedom of movement by the Indian Production company. That Indian production company has biffed it big time. If they don’t get it together they will pull out from India and India will have to absorb the costs.
It’s a black eye on India right now. They’re showing they’re unprofessional and cannot handle a big time production there

It’s more about a few yards of space between B/A and the paps/people than it is about avoiding the people.
There is no difference between B/A and a foreign politician’s visit to India-they should be afforded the same protection and rules by the Indian police. In fact India is getting a hell of a lot more exposure word-wide with B/A, than with any politician’s visit.
India should want to handle this intelligently-foreigners should not be made to think that it’s best not to do business in India.

The local Pune media has demanded Brad and Angelina give them a press conference to divulge their shooting schedule. Just the fact that they’ve gone and said this shows you how amateurish they are.

Because from the way you’re describing it to me, whether they’re celebrities or not, it doesn’t sound like it. Michael Jackson was there for some time many years ago as well as a few other celebs and politicians. Imagine their stays. They may have also had papz outside their hotel. Micahel Jackson actually went out on the streets with the people, with his mask on everything (lol). i think Brangelina is accepting of the way things are in India and you cannot control every area of the world. I don’t think that reporting what they’re eating is a big deal. The Indians probably wanted to express that Brangelina eats like everyone else there. And as far as the room numbers go, I think Le Meridien, which is not Indian owned, would fire those people if they mentioned their room numbers. I didnt read anything about what the actual room numbers were, were there? Besides, most of this is tabloid crap. People are just quick to criticize and prejudge and the tabloids are feeding on that including the indian tabloids.
Each country is different. I am sure brangelina are understanding to that and are handling it well.

No need to tell me about India. I spent three weeks there two years ago when a co-worker got married.
You’re missing the whole point. It is the actions of the staff working at the hotel that are causing the problem. They are speaking to the press. How do you think the media printed 1. what they ate for dinner 2. what their suit numbers are 3. Who is traveling with them. 4. License plate numbers of vehicles being used, etc, etc…
No one is talking about controlling anything, least of all them. It’s about controling the crowds and respecting the confidentiality agreements that have been signed. It’s the India press releasing this stuff not the foreign press.

Pune police can go a long way in ensuring that people who come to do business there are not mobbed, and are free to do a little sightseeing, ALMOST like any other visitor.
Photos of security personell make their job less effective and puts those they protect in danger, so they are a no-no.

I dont know if Mickey over reacted or not cause I wasnt there. I don’t think it was right for the paps to be taking pictures of Brad and Angie’s security men. Why would the paps be doing that? I think it is important that these men be unknown. and I cant blame mickey for getting a bit physical when they refused to stop taking these pics.
Again, we’re talking about a movie production/business. That’s the subject. India is desperate to break into the Hollywood market and will not be able to if it continues like this. This is a HUGE high profile movie being made there. If they can’t handle it they will continue to have half a room of reporters show up for them like they did at the Toronoto film festivale

They have not started filming yet so there is no information that business is not getting done. About sightseeing, well there is a cost to fame. However Brad and Angie have always found a way to relax in what ever country they are in and I am sure they will in India. It is just day what 3 or 4 things hopefully will calm down.
