OlderFIRST LOOK: Angelina Jolie as Mariane Pearl in ‘A Mighty Heart’
Angelina Jolie plays Mariane, widow of the Wall Street Journal reporter, who was murdered by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002 while researching a story on the links between “shoe bomber” Richard Reid and Islamic spiritual leader Sheikh Mubarak Gilani. Mariane was pregnant with their child (inset) when her husband was kidnapped.
Jolie said in a weekend statement that she was disappointed not to be filming in Pakistan, “a country I love and have visited three times.” But security concerns pushed the filming to the western Indian city of Pune, which was chosen because it resembles Karachi, Pakistan.

UPDATE :: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donated $100,000 to the Daniel Pearl Foundation through the recently formed Jolie-Pitt Foundation. Brad and Angie released this statement: “On this day our thoughts go out to Danny’s family. The Daniel Pearl Foundation is celebrating this day, his birthday, with music festivals around the world. The festivals are a great reminder of not just Danny’s work as a journalist but of his life and his love of music.”

obviously didn’t read MY post. I said BEFORE you send anything,
to take a chill pill, which implies I know that you didn’t send what
you just wrote. All I was saying, in a CALM fashion (because I’m
done caring whether or not you continue to make an ass of
yourself) is that YOU sound like the one on a maniacal rant. So
take it easy, THINK before you write to anyone, and try to sound
halfway lucid, because if you are in the same frame of mind when
you send off these boycott letters to anyone who looks crooked at
the Jolie-Pitts, you actually can do more harm than good, and give
credence to the Brangelunatic label.
Most of the time I agree with you, but not when you are acting
wildly out of your mind over stuff. Then your usual good posts
start to sound like a crazy obsessed person, and whether you are
a BAMZS fan or a faniston, such behavior immediately is a turn-
off, and that’s not fair to you as you can be someone worth
listening to when not in crazy mode.
So before you start screeching at everyone to boycott media and
getting defensive whenever someone disagrees with you and
wailing because JJ takes a while to put up posts and your paranoia

I am a fan of the Jolie-Pitts very much. Noone has a right to quesion and justify how much fan I am because I am a fan of Brad and Angelina and their family. You don’t have a right to do it also to all of us.

I will repeat myself for the benefit of those that are not out to judge or gang up on people, and who are interested in the issue at hand, and that is supporting the family in the face of this very public ‘hit’ — I posted my opinion about what Trump said and did here on JJ, I was upset as we are often upset here about the various little injustices they go through in the tabloid press and elsewhere…we tend to rant and rave and post away in discussion when we feel they have been maligned…this is nothing new - Trumps comments, seeing as they were on a high profile show, and in my opinion, are now the worst of the lot deserve NO LESS.
That said, once again - when I posted the address info, so that others could mass e-mail their opposition to trump, and anything trump related - I very specifically said - just put ‘Boycott Trump/Apprentice’ in your header and write what you want.
Now, you obviously have a problem - with that simple statement.
Why that is? Only you know. I am of the opinion, that whoever you are behind your cyber veil, you are someone who most likely does not want this to happen (support for bamzs, opposition to trump) - most likely this is because you don’t mind what he said. Don’t feel bad - there are people running sites right now, who have relegated Angie a place between Claire Forlani and Helena Bonham Carter in the Brad Pitt co-star thread…their children too.
So bottomline, I’m not surprised.

I have never liked Jennifer Aniston - as an actor she’s a one-trick pony and got lucky when she married Pitt. She got attention by marrying him and that’s the only reason why. What I have disliked in her, I’m now starting to dislike in Angelina Jolie and Pitt because they continue to yak to the press and continue to keep themselves in the spotlight, just like Aniston. If you take a look at actors who are actors and not ‘celebritys’- they have no problem staying out of the spotlight and live their life - it can be done, no matter how much they do for humanitarian causes, they still do it without trying to get the applause to feed their ego. There are many actors who do the same and are not salivating at the mouth for the attention.

Very good post. I agree with you. I didn’t like Angelina at first, then after she left BBT and adopted Mad, I started to change my mind, but after all this hype, it’s a turn off. Sometimes less is more.

Anyone who has a problem with the above as written (as the 3 posters listed above do), is bottomline, NOT a fan, do not belong here and are being disingenuous with the other fans who post here. They are fanistons in disguise, or at the very least Pitt fans who for some odd reason loathe Angie. Hence, they like it when she gets fucked over in the press. They’ll very often play this charade and pretend to be fans of the family - but most often they are very gleeful when Angelina takes a hit. This is why they are being very diplomatic regarding Trump (’He’s entitled to his opinion, just because it’s diff from yours doesn’t mean it’s wrong,’ they said)

Look when J.A was in Germany to promote her film small group of peopel come to see her . only some celebrity magazines and shows. and that was not opening story. She was in Hamburg. When Brad Pitt comes here its always chaos. and fans travel to see him. that is the difference. He is the star and he have the spotlights always.

I really don’t know how to say what I want to say……which is quiet surprising actually but here goes……I’m not sure what is going on but lately we seem to be picking on one another and sometimes these things get resolved between the parties and sometimes it doesn’t and I totally understand that it is the nature of life. However, is it possible that for us to correct another fan without treating them like they are just one of the crazies that come here with their inane post? It’s been months
now and I believe or hope that we kind of “recognize” who is who by now and that in it self should be all the credibility we need. We don’t have to agree all the time….after all, we are not robots set to think a certain way. It is all about opinions and even though most of the time, we are in agreement, let’s allow for a difference in opinion. It’s very uncomfortable
to see one fan jumping down another fans’s throat just because they don’t agree with them on a particular topic….when the day before, they were both on the same page. We have enough hate coming our way, we don’t need to generate it amongst ourselves. If it’s takes you 10 secs to respond to a non-fan, why not double….triple it when you are responding to a fellow fan? Please I am not in any way trying to control the board or anything like that, I just feel we should be more patient with one another. Now someone please feel free to disagree with me ;)

This is what I believe, The man is a joke. Half the time, I don’t remember he exist until his name is mentioned annd it registers for like two seconds and puff it’s gone. I think I’ve spent more time thinking about DT since last night than I have spent in the past 3-4yrs. I don’t watch his show because he does not appeal to me in any way, shape or form. The few times I think of him, the words pontificating idiot comes to mind. Donald Trump should be the last person to talk about any one’s marital situation. Donald Trump should be the last person to put anyone down based on their sexual experiences. I know he is egocentric but I’d like to believe that he knows he has no say when it comes to relationship. I mean come on…..this is the same man that said if his daughter (I forget her name) wasn’t his, he’d date her. Huh….can we all say sick? Does this mean he’s thought of her in that context…..how did she go from Daddy’s little girl to Daddy’s ideal for a date in his mind? So why should we give this man more press when this is exactly what he wants? Of course, I am not saying don’t do anything because what DT did was uncalled for, which is why I wrote to CNN. I know times are changing but I give or should I say gave CNN enough credit not to join the ranks of the sensationalized news network out there. I saw the segment and it was just trash. I am disappointed in Larry King, I used to believe he was one of the few anchors with credibility but I guess senility is setting in. First of, I can’t believe they had “The foley Scandal, Angelina Jolie……” On the little bar at the bottom of the screen. This implied they were actually making her one of the topic of discussion. This wasn’t a discussion that just came by, DT went on CNN to discuss her, my question is why? Is he some expert on what makes AJ tick? Does he know her personally? Has he written a book, had her on his show….done anything at all with this woman? How will CNN and Larry King justify giving a pompous fool the platform to spew hate? They can’t and this is what I have a problem with. DT for whatever reason had an ax to grind and CNN and Larry King gave him a medium. If he had made the comments on his show, I won’t care……I doubt I’ll even hear about it but he went on CNN and made comments like “she’s slept with more men than I have with women.” What is this….Jerry Springer? How does he know? Was he in the room with her when she slept with those men? What he just did is akin to slander. And let’s not forget that this is a man who lauds Paris Hilton….a girl who became famous because of a sex tape and Donald Trump praises her? At least we now understand what yard stick he used to measure AJ and if Paris is the good end of that stick I vote that Angelina Jolie be the baddest of all the bads.

Woot! Angie is an awesome actress, bottom line. I figured they were going to use wigs and make-up to achieve the look, and I must say, it looks like a successful transformation to me.
To this snowbella person who thinks Thandie Newton would be better….um no. Thandie’s not half the actress AJ is. AND you need to get over the past. Why the need to soemhow “correct” past transgressions by denying the best actress for the role now? They have a name for that you know. It’s called prejudice. Get over it. I think the only way we will truly progress and get past this skin color thing in our society is to stop paying so much attention to it. I hope more and more black actors play “white” roles and white actors play “black” roles. Maybe after awhile we won’t even notice it anymore.
And why do people keep saying this was Jen’s role? like several people already said, Jen was never considered for the role in the first place by Brad or anybody else. Brad purchased the rights to the story before he got involved with Angie because he thought it was a good story, period. The only people who mentioned Jen in the role were Jen herself (in her dreams) when she made that “I’d like to think I could” comment when asked about it, and (*gag*) Huvane.
Now Cliniqua, I just want to say I love you in all your dramatic glory. ;)! Post on! I kind of look at it like this is sort of like our living room at home. We have all become comfortable with hanging out here, and we say things to each otehr just like we would say at home…..we would never go out in “public” like to CNN.com and say the same thing. So I understood that you were just venting to family, sorta under your own roof, and you weren’t going to make your point in the same way to CNN.
