OlderFIRST LOOK: Angelina Jolie as Mariane Pearl in ‘A Mighty Heart’
Angelina Jolie plays Mariane, widow of the Wall Street Journal reporter, who was murdered by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002 while researching a story on the links between “shoe bomber” Richard Reid and Islamic spiritual leader Sheikh Mubarak Gilani. Mariane was pregnant with their child (inset) when her husband was kidnapped.
Jolie said in a weekend statement that she was disappointed not to be filming in Pakistan, “a country I love and have visited three times.” But security concerns pushed the filming to the western Indian city of Pune, which was chosen because it resembles Karachi, Pakistan.

UPDATE :: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donated $100,000 to the Daniel Pearl Foundation through the recently formed Jolie-Pitt Foundation. Brad and Angie released this statement: “On this day our thoughts go out to Danny’s family. The Daniel Pearl Foundation is celebrating this day, his birthday, with music festivals around the world. The festivals are a great reminder of not just Danny’s work as a journalist but of his life and his love of music.”

Marianne Pearl is a survivor and very courageous. She did good by choosing Angie. She’ll do great. Daniel Futterman also has an uncanny resemblance to Daniel Pearl. Can’t wait for this movie.

She looks good! I hope her French accent is on point. Wow when you look at it, there was just minimal change. Angelina will pull this off because who really knows Mariane Pearl? It’s all about the story people.

Wow, If that is Angelina, then I am SHOCKED!!! The makeup artists did wonders! I wasn’t sure why she was chosen, even though I love her, because I wondered how she was going to pull it off, physically, but she totally did it! She’s Marianne’s spitting-image! I can’t wait to see this movie!!! I’m sure it will be great! Maybe some Oscars will be in order!

Thank you Jared, Angelina looks gorgeous and she will be wonderful in this movie. I’ll bet she even has her French accent down perfect. I can’t hardly believe she just had a baby a little over 4 months ago, she is amazing.

She obvously exercised her right not to take on the role of Mariane
Pearl when she didn’t pick AMH when she left Plan B. Perhaps she
saw how Derailed turned out and decided to let that type of train
run by. Good decision.
