what I have a problem with is that they colored her for it. So why didnt they get a black or mixed woman for it? If it was not about a “black” woman then why did they color her and give her a wig? why didnt they simply allow Angelina to look more like herself

Because they had to make her look like Marianne Pearl. If Marianne had straight hair, Angelina would have straight hair. If MP had large wavy curls, Angelina would have the same. If MP had a more darker skin tone than the one she has, Angelina would too. If Marianne had a lighter skin tone then her true complexinon, Angelina would have that complexion. So she could like Marianne Pearl and no one else. So she could like Daniel Pearls wife. Not so she could like any other Black woman.

And if you can’t look beyond the fact that Angelina is playing Marianne and no one else and can only focus on her looks and the race part of the discussion then the whole point of this story is lost on you anyways.

That goes for you too. It is just plain ole stupid to say that because of Marianne’s choice of casting for a movie in which the role being depicted is about her, does not agree with you or someone else, it means that she will lose sympathy from you. And if that is the case, then I doubt she would want that kind of fake sympathy from anyone. Apathy would be better from those who like to scream about these issues yet they have no understanding of the whole picture.

In all of “SR’s” and your comments Pauline, you have lost sight of the bigger picture and the whole point of what Marianne is trying to make people understand through her book.

Michelle, She’s Black, Pauline and all those others who keep saying ’she’s black’, please, can you guys just drop it? It doesn’t make a lick of sense to keep repeating things that have already been discussed. Everyone has their own opinion, and those opinions, even if they are contrary to your own, should be respected. You can’t change someone’s point of view just because you shove yours down their throats.
As for myself, I think they’ve found the best actress for the role. Why? Because Angelina is someone who can relate to Marianne, and she’s someone who has the talent to convincingly play such a role, and that’s more important than casting someone who’s the right color for it.

New here & I just love how you all defend BAMZS. I totally applaud you guys. I am a discreet fan too but just now got the courage to post. It really made my blood boils about the Trump dissing Angelina & Brad. Shame on him. He’s a loser to my eyes. I think he’s very low & disrectful on people. THIS is the first picture of Angelina Jolie in her new role as the wife of murdered journalist Daniel Pearl.

The star bears a strong resemblance to Mariane Pearl, whose husband was beheaded by a terror group in Pakistan in 2002.

Angelina’s husband Brad Pitt is producing the film, A Mighty Heart, based on Mariane’s book about Daniel’s life and death. Shooting began last week in India.

This is long overdue, but I just wanted to comment on DTrump. He is not 1/2 the person or will ever come close to the person of Angelina jolie or Brad Pitt. For a man who has been married thrice and has openly committed adultery, he is obviously in denial of who he actually is. He may have alot of money, but wealth does not define a person. D Trump does not have the character nor the integrity. The TRUTH will always stand and D Trump would not know TRUTH even if it was infront of him… just look at his fake hair…

2 both sides of the judging ppl by “race” issue–

Perhaps some ppl will think me “weird” or verbally attack me… but I find myself NOT bothered by that. So I will just say this 1 thing & then go on with something else…

I pride myself on a diverse heritage– Scottish, Austrian & Canadian; my skin is NOT “white” [like snow is] but more olive-colored so I guess my “race” is European & therefore NOT Caucasian.

I grew up bullied 4 not “fitting in” with ANY of the “cool” kids in school & out… Could never understand what made them hate me; always tried 2 b nice & friendly, but it just made it worse. Then my dad told me that the next time somebody tried 2 mess with me I should just look at them, smile & apologise…

Apologise? Was he nuts?! See, I knew u were gonna say that. *LOL* B/c I said the same thing 2 which he just smiled & said, “AFTER you apologise, pause to let them take it in… THEN add: I’m sorry 4 making u afraid of me. Why is that? Maybe we can talk about it more later, okay?” He was a devious man, and I say that tongue-in-cheek cause it worked like a charm–I even made friends that I’ve had watching back all these years later.

I applied what he taught me to how I “see” ppl in general & those I meet… Color of skin NEVER crosses my mind nor does ANY of the other stuff… religion, sexual preferance, gender or body-type.

The ONLY thing I notice is how they TREAT me as a PERSON–Are they mean-spirited or kind; vain or humble; greedy or generous; selfish or altruistic…

I could go on & on but u get the idea, right? So b4 u spew racist garbage & hate, think about how u want ppl 2 treat YOU… & try a little kindness 2wards others be4 the world becomes even colder & more scary than it is now.

I don’t post often och I am not part of the ‘community’ and I certainly don’t think CLINIQUA is a nutcake. I felt that she ia very passionate person with mostly sensible opinions. I rather listen to one person who ‘felt’ things than the empty, ‘whinny’ chattering of hundreds.

Dragonfly, saw your post trying to make peace, and just wanted
to let you know that it is all one-sided anyway. Nice of you, but you
have no worries from this end — been there, done that, over with.
It doesn’t matter how many times you throw facts in front of a
faniston, they hold onto the point of view they have with an
obsessive hold. Same with Cliniqua. So, no matter how many
times I explained the facts to her, and forgave her for her
rudeness to me (she never apologized to the others she
screeched at and accused of being undercover fanistons –lol at
the paranoia — in her fury over being disagreed with, and now one
has decided not to post in this environment anymore), it didn’t
matter. Yeah, the ball’s in her court, but I’m not holding my
breath for her to act like a nice person. It really doesn’t matter to
me.
Cliniqua writes some good posts, and I’ll read them, as I do those
from others, and skip the wild crazy ones, as I do others that
have no value, as I always have with her because she’s always
been this way, and I don’t expect her to change. I’ve always been
cordial with her, and will continue to do so, so you don’t have to
worry. Whether or not she wants to apologize matters not a whit,
although I thank you for trying to get her to be decent and classy
for the sake of others.
I’m happy, always have been, and she is as important in my life
and the world I live in as a gnat, or a faniston who comments on
such inanities as Angie wearing black clothing! :-) I don’t take her
seriously, and there are much more important things to worry
about. Most people have more important things to worry about —
take a look at what this thread is about, or think about Elena, or
the people living in Karachi, which this scene depicts.

So don’t worry about any conflict — it’s all in that woman’s head!
She can continue it by posting more lies about what I’m doing
and thinking, or she can carry on as if nothing ever happened and
we’ll be fine. Choice is hers, but I have NO PROBLEM WITH HER.

I’d much rather talk about Marianne Pearl, as there is a whole lot
there to learn about and discuss. Does anyone read her column in
Glamour? Is she in NY right now? What family does she have
around her? I’d like to think that she and Angie had a good talk
yesterday, on Daniel Pearl’s birthday.
