OlderFIRST LOOK: Angelina Jolie as Mariane Pearl in ‘A Mighty Heart’
Angelina Jolie plays Mariane, widow of the Wall Street Journal reporter, who was murdered by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002 while researching a story on the links between “shoe bomber” Richard Reid and Islamic spiritual leader Sheikh Mubarak Gilani. Mariane was pregnant with their child (inset) when her husband was kidnapped.
Jolie said in a weekend statement that she was disappointed not to be filming in Pakistan, “a country I love and have visited three times.” But security concerns pushed the filming to the western Indian city of Pune, which was chosen because it resembles Karachi, Pakistan.

UPDATE :: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donated $100,000 to the Daniel Pearl Foundation through the recently formed Jolie-Pitt Foundation. Brad and Angie released this statement: “On this day our thoughts go out to Danny’s family. The Daniel Pearl Foundation is celebrating this day, his birthday, with music festivals around the world. The festivals are a great reminder of not just Danny’s work as a journalist but of his life and his love of music.”

I have a kinda crazy/ignorant question…is Cuban considered black?
B/C according to the show last night MP is Cuban/French…so why is everyone going ape if MP isn’t played by an AA/black actress. Is it b/c of skin color…I truly mean the color/pigment of her skin?
I agree, this movie isn’t about skin color/black/white…it’s truly about hatred. It’s really sad what hate can make someone do…we experience here on JJ’s site…ppl have deep ragged hatred for what…nothing…b/c we are ignorant. Ignorant of what really happened with BP/AJ/JA and what’s going on now….so some hate. Whether we want to or not, interested or not…we all need to watch “The Journalist and the Jihadi…” and not just watch it but take something from it…and learn.

i have no idea! there are many cubans who are of very strong African decent, but whether or not they consider themselves black, i don’t know. the few that i have met just consider themselves cuban.

Me Again, I don’t know much about Cubans’ skin tone, but I guess they have whites (like Fidel Castro, and Hispanics like that little kidnapped boy in Florida who was returned to his dad under the Clinton adm), and blacks (like the black lady portrayed on rhum bottles).
