OlderFIRST LOOK: Angelina Jolie as Mariane Pearl in ‘A Mighty Heart’
Angelina Jolie plays Mariane, widow of the Wall Street Journal reporter, who was murdered by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002 while researching a story on the links between “shoe bomber” Richard Reid and Islamic spiritual leader Sheikh Mubarak Gilani. Mariane was pregnant with their child (inset) when her husband was kidnapped.
Jolie said in a weekend statement that she was disappointed not to be filming in Pakistan, “a country I love and have visited three times.” But security concerns pushed the filming to the western Indian city of Pune, which was chosen because it resembles Karachi, Pakistan.

UPDATE :: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donated $100,000 to the Daniel Pearl Foundation through the recently formed Jolie-Pitt Foundation. Brad and Angie released this statement: “On this day our thoughts go out to Danny’s family. The Daniel Pearl Foundation is celebrating this day, his birthday, with music festivals around the world. The festivals are a great reminder of not just Danny’s work as a journalist but of his life and his love of music.”

Calling Cliniqua irrational and ridiculing her is not a very tactful way of ending this discussion,
I too think this discussion is already played out. But, I do want to add this to what you said. The night before last, when this news hit, there were SEVERAL of us who were upset and wanting to know who to write to complain about this. Cliniqua got the information for us to use or not use at our discretion. YOU may have felt our wanting to show support for angie in this way was being “over the top” but many of us didnt agree.
Can we stop picking on each other now and move on? I hope so.

Those who are twisting the truth and muddying up the facts, eager to portray me as unhinged and ‘needing to be calmed down’ etc., etc., have an ulterior motive - and that is, they really didn’t like that I wanted people to act en masse behind the scenes, on AJ’s behalf.
What you’re seeing from those that continue to drag this out, is the same mentality (most likely from the same people) that exist on those boards that have relegated Angie to a ‘co-star’ thread in Brad’s life (no different from Ed Norton, Claire Forlani, or Aniston), and who ultimately in my opinion don’t mind when she gets denigrated and maligned in the press. In my opinion, I think they are secretly gleeful.
They’re operating under false pretenses, no matter what they say here to get you to believe otherwise.

Anyone who chooses not to voice their opinion/opposition to the powers that be is within their right, and it certainly doesn’t make them less of a fan…
….but those who would eagerly go after the person providing the contact information, and who wants to shut this kind of proactive behavior on AJ’s behalf down, should be looked at skeptically and with suspicion.
If it looks, smells and sounds like a rat it usually is one, and in these cases (several people on bradforums - particularly the admins, and a few other places like it are HERE) I fervently believe that these people are not really fans of Angelina Jolie.

Seriously, the way it’s written - each hit makes it sound as if there’s this burgeoning outrage, but they will reference back to this blacklooks website that IMO, some hater has started to drum up a controversy.
So once again - if you should find yourself on one of these sites (I personally would refrain from clicking, as that’s what they want too) — make sure you mention that that is the same story they are just regurgitating it and it’s popping up different places.

So, when they released the focus will the story and the performances. I get the feeling that this movie will bring one of angie’s best performances. I don’t understand why people make a big deal about who plays the character be it white/black. M. Pearl obviously approved of Jolie playing her. Even Marianne Pearl’s mother in law said that “I think it’s great and she stands for noble causes.” ( this is right after someone asked what she thinks of Jolie)
A Mighty Heart it’s not about the RACE or the color of the skin. It was about a woman whom her husband was a reporter got kidnapped in Pakistan and got killed in an unthinkable manner, and it is about a wife who seeking justice for her husband.
I think, Jolie can pull it off playing Pearl no doubt. She is a very good actress and an Oscar caliber.
