OlderFIRST LOOK: Angelina Jolie as Mariane Pearl in ‘A Mighty Heart’
Angelina Jolie plays Mariane, widow of the Wall Street Journal reporter, who was murdered by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002 while researching a story on the links between “shoe bomber” Richard Reid and Islamic spiritual leader Sheikh Mubarak Gilani. Mariane was pregnant with their child (inset) when her husband was kidnapped.
Jolie said in a weekend statement that she was disappointed not to be filming in Pakistan, “a country I love and have visited three times.” But security concerns pushed the filming to the western Indian city of Pune, which was chosen because it resembles Karachi, Pakistan.

UPDATE :: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie donated $100,000 to the Daniel Pearl Foundation through the recently formed Jolie-Pitt Foundation. Brad and Angie released this statement: “On this day our thoughts go out to Danny’s family. The Daniel Pearl Foundation is celebrating this day, his birthday, with music festivals around the world. The festivals are a great reminder of not just Danny’s work as a journalist but of his life and his love of music.”

Thanks JJ for the new pic. Its amazing transformation, I think Angie will do great as MP especially she is so inspired nowadays. I hope she will be distracted by the media harrasment and all those neg comments that are coming out.
I dont understand why some people are so jealous of them. I already wrote my email to LK program regarding that arrogant ******* Donald Trump’s comments. I hope a lot of us fans will do so. I just wish this guy should stop talking and making comments on TV about other people as if he has every right to do so. He should be ashamed the only reason why he gets his women because he buys them. And he cant buy Angie, thats why he said he does not find her attractive and so jealous of Brad. I think Brad ditched him in an NYC meeting as he was in a hurry to meet up with Angie. Must have hurt his ego. Also their baby was supposed to be in a cover of People and was relegated to a small pic because Angie has given birth.
He has this thing against sucessful women, he also trashed Martha Stewart. For a man he talks too much and so bitchy.

Jennifer Aniston never had the role in the first place. Marianne
chose to give Brad the rights to the book, he didn’t just snap it
up because he wanted it. as special as this book was to Marianne,
i’m sure Brad let her consider all the actresses she wanted to play
her. and lo and behold Angie was picked in the end, whether she
was picked by Brad, the casting director, or Marianne herself,
obviously Marianne approved and was happy w/ the decision and
that’s all that matters. w/ all that Marianne has been through, i
highly doubt she was worried or cared about the ethnicity or color
of skin of the actress that would be portraying her.

i remember when i first discovered this site last summer in rabid anticipation of MAMS. At that time i think it was a true blog (or whatever format it originally was in before Jared changed it) and then posts only got up to 40 comments or so, for a juicy topic even :)
how things have changed
Angelina was definitely picked by Brad Pitt and was approved by Mariane Pearl. Brad is the owner of the rights of that book and he as a producer has the right to choose the actress to play the lead. So what if Brad chose Angelina to play the role as it obviously the case here, isn’t she is an outstanding actress and can pull off dramatic roles? Just because she happens to be in a relationship with the producer does not mean she got the role without deserving it. Beside so many other actors do family business with their partners so why is it a sin when Brad does it? I’m sure Angie will do a terrific job specially as someone mentioned she got the experince to pull off the necessary emotions for this film.

wow! angie sure is not affraid of morphing into character. this
is what i call an actress!!! i hope she can play the role as
mariane really good. woow!!! lots of people had a debate about
angie being mariane pearl becuz they don’t look alike. but,
geeez! salute for the make up artist and for angie too for not
afraid of being someone else!! she reminds me of what nicole
kidman and charlize theron did for their roles. i hope she’ll get
her second oscar for this.

Namibia. This story is important to her, so she wanted someone
who UNDERSTOOD her and going to Pakistan and hekping people
is something they have in common.
There is more to a role than what someone looks like. That’s what
makeup, wardrobe, and wigs (and in Nicole Kidman’s case, a fake
nose) are for. Getting into the soul of the character matters.
That’s why the Brits ended up loving Renee Zellwegger as their
Bridget Jones. She has a goofy, slightly world-weary, laughing at
herself, a little shy and insecure attitude that fit the role perfectly.
And as was mentioned, Gwyneth Paltrow played Brit more than
once. Her snooty, self-righteous attitude worked very well as the
matchmaker in Emma, just as Jane Austen wrote the character.
Angie is not only a good actress, but the material and the life
experience made her instantly understand the character, which is
why she and Marianne hit it off so well when they met and
Marianne wanted her for the role.
Mentioning JA for the role, that she never had and admitted she
wasn’t sure she even wanted, makes as much sense as
mentioning Tara Reid for it. Only Huvane put her name out there
as attached to the movie, everyone else knows she never had
anything to do with it and wouldnt’ be right for it.
THere will be other roles for Thandie Newton and others that
didn’t get this role, just as there are any time a movie is made.
But this one fits the actress because of the material.

Daddy Brad & Diaper Duty
As you know, as you cannot help but have seen, the Pitts have taken over Pune, India causing a much publicised clusterf&ck on Sunday during a motorised rickshaw ride through the city with Badass Madd that saw the pappies go bananas and the ‘Brangelina’ addicts go ooey gooey mental. Why? Because, like, omigosh…He’s.TOUCHING.Her.Leg!!!
And yet… who am I to mock? Truth be told, I t00 love the casual display of affection. The way his hand appears to be lazily owning the sexiest woman alive - a subtle but loud ‘oh really???’ to those who’ve labelled him p*ssywhipped, which still may be the case but if a p&ssywhipping can result in Oscar buzz in front and behind the camera and the appearance of devotion from she who could not be tamed… does it really qualify as a p&ssywhipping or a p*ssyplundering? You tell me.
Next - what of those photos promised from last week? On the weekend beginning September 30, entertainment outlets were told by certain photo agencies that they would have the first Pitt India pictures by the following Monday, anticipating an imminent Pitt arrival and pre-negotiating photo fees. However, as we all know, the Family is elusive when they want to be and so their itinerary was obviously not as predictable as the pappies would have liked - yet another example of Brad’s masterful control over what is reliable and not when it comes to details of their lives. Which means that those reports of him forcing her to have a biological boy are absolute nonsense.
However, the new rumour flying around - that he’s eager to continue playing proud papa - is likely 100% sanctioned smut. Apparently Brad finished shooting Oceans while Angie was prepping for A Mighty Heart. And so during their last two weeks in LA, he was domestic daddy while mamma was hard at work, hands on with all three, including the irascible Maddox who has been hankering for a spin on Brad’s bike, allegedly successfully earned according to an unconfirmed sighting of a night ride around town.

And then there’s word of Brad’s almost obsessive preparation for acceptable family accommodations close to the set in India (in addition to their lodgings at Le Meridian), every detail personally attended to with military precision so that for the duration of the shoot, the children will be close to Angelina on those long 14+ hour days, with Brad expected to take prime parenting duties in addition to overseeing production - in other words, nothing but positivity surrounding the Pitts as the campaigning begins to secure him a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Babel… well deserved by all accounts.
Like I said a few weeks ago, the Pitts are testing the waters for an official red carpet debut this awards season and given that his star has been fully restored post-divorce, a Jolie-Pitt arrival at any of the upcoming events would mean ratings gold for everyone involved.
Zen Master of all media? Indeed, indeed.

Matt Damon On Brad & Angie
Reporters then steered Matt to other, uh, more “interesting” topics such as Brangelina and Bennifer. He is only one degree separated from these pairs—the former going strong while the latter is history. Of Angelina Jolie, his co-star in the upcoming “The Good Shepherd,” he said, “It was great working with Angie. She is an amazing actress. She’s just so powerful. Angie’s role in ‘The Good Shepherd’ is unlike any role she’s ever had. She’s much more demure and obedient. You’ve never seen Angie like this.”
Brad Pitt and Matt are on their third “Ocean’s” film together. Being Brad’s buddy, he has seen first-hand the paparazzi frenzy that the Brangelina couple stirs. I remember going to the set and immediately knowing that this was the day Angie started working on the film because suddenly 40 paparazzi would be standing outside her trailer. It was so bad that they actually had to move her trailer inside so she could just go to and from the set quickly.”
