Angelina Jolie Reads “Crimes of War”
Angelina Jolie was just snapped reading “Crimes of War: What the Public Should Know” by Roy Gutman. Angelina, 31, was spotted reading the book on her way to the set of her upcoming film A Mighty Heart‘ in Pune, India. A Mighty Heart is about American journalist Daniel Pearl who was slain by terrorists in Pakistan four years ago. Angelina plays Daniel’s widow Mariane, on whose book of the same name the film is based upon.

True, no REAL movie star would do that, but chin is a movie star only in her mind. It’s gotten to the point where she has nothing better to do than read tabs and rags all day and planning her next big publicity stunt - all without letting go of B&A’s coattails, of course.

Jolie: West’s apathy on refugees a shame
GENEVA (AP) — Angelina Jolie says it is shocking that refugees are being turned into hate figures in rich countries in an attempt to win elections or sell newspapers.
Even worse, the Academy Award-winning actress and United Nations goodwill ambassador said, was that people in the West did not seem to care.
“It’s a scandal, really, in such a rich world, that we are not even finding a way to help feed refugee families properly,” Jolie wrote in an op-ed piece released this week in Refugees, a quarterly magazine published by the U.N. refugee agency.
She said Europeans, who only six decades ago were confronted by 40 million refugees in the aftermath of World War II, have turned their backs on victims of tyrannical regimes. Jolie also criticized Americans and Australians for failing to improve the situation of the many migrants who have died trying to emigrate to their countries.
“We will put Band-Aids over the most gaping wounds because they look a bit ugly,” even as UNHCR battles to meet funding requirements for its annual programs helping 20 million people, Jolie said.
“Agencies like UNHCR should not really have to struggle to scrape a few tens of millions of dollars together to help rebuild shattered nations — like Angola, Sierra Leone, Liberia and south Sudan,” Jolie said. “But we won’t pay for a full cure.”
Jolie, who has made over 30 missions for the agency since becoming goodwill ambassador in 2001, described her shock over a photo printed in an edition of Refugees earlier this year capturing a couple bathing on a beach while disregarding a black man washed ashore.
“They can’t see the stark reality lying a few yards further up the beach,” she wrote. “We are all — myself included — behaving like the couple sitting under their umbrella on the beach, gazing studiously out to sea.”

OMG…LOL…I can’t believe I just noticed this reading the quotes about this short film she CO-directed…but it sounds like she picked this project, because it too is a ‘BREAK UP’ movie….it’s like a mini ‘The Break Up,’ yet another ‘relationship’ piece where she can go on and on ad nauseum about ‘relationships,’ and she can weigh in on what you have to do to keep your relationship going…and hard work, and not giving up…and she knows all throughout people will have one thought in their heads ‘Brangelina.’ LOLOL

By the way, as I said previously…Bryce Howard (who directed her film by herself while 6 mos. pregnant) Gwyneth Paltrow, or any of the other Glamour short film directors would have loved this kind of publicity for their projects too…but they didn’t spill their guts in Vanity Fair after Brad Pitt unloaded them, so Oprah had to take a pass.
..and by the way, did Maniston give credit to her co-director and Goddess member, or is she taking all the credit?? I’m sure Oprah wouldn’t have wanted to muddy up the ‘Pity Party 2 Tour’ TOO much by actually having someone else there that actually DIRECTED the film also…it would have taken the emphasis off Maniston’s pain.
I’m sure it gives great comfort to the mini-van market segment to see that a millionaire malibu tv sit com star who was formerly on top of the world with her movie star man, has plummetted down to earth and joined all the other crying sniveling pathetic dumpees. Jen is now no different than those women who park their cars outside of their ex’s house to spy, radio tuned to some sad love song, while crying in their starbucks.

Halle Berry was lightened to play Queen, a mixed woman passing for White because her features and skin tone didn’t match the character. They should have gotten Jennifer Beals, but they didn’t. They could have and shouls have even used Jasmine Guy who was upset that she didn’t get the lead role, but they didn’t because Halle had more star power.
Marianne isn’t Black because you say she is. Her father is a Dutchman and her mother is Cuban (which isn’t Black). Is her mother Afro-Cuban, I don’t know because I’ve never heard Marianne say that. She sees herself as multiethnic and I can see why being that she grew up around two people who don’t have direct “Black” ties. Her mother is cuban, but that doesn’t mean she grew up with an “Afrocentric” consciousness. Such a consciousness was developed in the US, elsewhere a lot of other people don’t think the same way. Is it a crime, I don’t know, I’m on the fence about that. A lot of African-Americans feel they can lord their view of Black identity over everyone. We’ve written the most books on the subject, so I guess that gives us the final say.,
Funny thing, I read an article once in the NY Times and it was about how “African-Americans” didn’t want African born ciitizens who migrated to the US to be able to use the term “AFrican-American” to define themselves because the Africans didn’t have the same set up experiences and social constraints the “African-Americans” felt they have dealt with and therefore don’t deserve the same privilege. The Africans were outraged because they were from African nations. I think this has become all to typical of Black americans. They feel they have the right to define everyone, to slap a label on or take it away at their leisure. I don’t feel I have that right and so I’ll let Marianne define herself as she sees fit.

Jen Cries, Oprah to the Rescue

In last week’s scathing Us Weekly article, Janice Min’s brilliant writers called out Jennifer Aniston for her ‘court and thwart’ PR tactics - at once inviting public fascination into her life and then complaining about it incessantly afterwards.
But of course they were wrong, right??? Going on Oprah doesn’t count as media manipulation, right?
How convenient though, non? That on the heels of such an unflattering article, she appears on Oprah under the guise of a short film she co-directed for Glamour Magazine and ‘made it clear’ after rolling her eyes that things were still ON with Vaughn. Such is the report at least from audience members at the taping yesterday with gushing praise for their favourite star - postergirl to the MiniVan Majority of course and heroine to every woman paranoid about losing her husband to the leggy, pillow-lipped secretary at work.
Fear can mobilise the masses, you know?
But here’s my question - can you still be with someone you were never with in the first place? If she’s never admitted to dating him, what does it mean now that she’s admitting to not breaking up with him?
