Bluemoon means this is such a double-whammy -first not mentioning him at all only 1 1/2 yrs into the marriage, and then in the after-party thanking him in a “buddy” sort of way, not like a woman in love, AND implying problems with herself going around the bend with that “thank you for holding me together”.

Honest to God’s truth — this is where my dislike of her started.

I’ve always been an awards show FREAK. I watch them all (except for the People’s Choice Awards and the other cheesy fake ones, where people already know in advance who’s one..like blockbuster awards etc.)

So anyway — back in 2003, I was WATCHING THIS EXACT SHOW

*( –some background: I was not a die hard Brad Pitt fan or ‘fangirl’ back in the day. But I was an admirer of him as an actor. I have always loved his movies and thought he was underrated as an actor ( I loved Seven, Thelma & Louise, and Interview, also I thought he was just to die for in Legends, and a freakin’ menace in Snatch and Fight Club, LOL). I viewed Brad much in the same way as I viewed Johnny Depp. I respected their choices, and always made it a point to see their films because I knew I would not be disappointed. I was content in NOT being a ‘fangirl’ of his, because frankly, I felt he deserved more and better than some ‘tiger beat’ fascination, ya know?? I think the way I viewed him back then is how most actors WANT people to view them - ‘for their WORK,’ anything less would have been disrespectful. So I saw him as a serious actor. But more than that, he seemed humble and circumspect, and an ordinary guy offscreen. Whatever charisma transmitted in film, he was just not putting out in his private life with Jen Aniston. Hence, my disinterest. Sure he always looked hot on those red carpets, which is where I saw him 90% of the time offscreen - but he came across as what I took him to be a supportive husband and decent man).

So, let me clear - because I did view him that way - I was not crawling all over the net, excitedly looking anything and everything about him.

My thoughts on Jennifer Aniston. Meh. That was it, and that was all. I’ve seen maybe 3 episodes of friends. I didn’t think she was all that, but neither did I dislike her. As a matter of fact, because I thought Gwyneth Paltrow a fool and obnoxious, and believed all the rumors that Miramax (harvey Weinstein) bought her Oscar - and also heard that she kind of trashed Brad Pitt in the press (and THIS, after seeing how in love he was with her when he acepted HIS Golden Glove a few years previous and thanked ‘his angel’), I was kind of rooting for Brad to get back at GP by being happy with whomever…so indirectly I was rooting for Aniston, believe it or not.

Until that night that I saw her accept that award and not only not thank him, sure - that was bad…but the way she also tried to repair the damage AFTER THE FACT…’Brad Pitt’ thank you for holding me together man?’ WTF?! Who is he? Your husband, or your huntin’ buddy?? Is he the love of your life, or a guy you get high with on the weekends??

I saw his face when they flashed him to him in the audience after she was through….he’s an actor, he played it off…but I’m sure, everyone there…his peers in the film community who had seen him segregate himself to hang in the back with his wife’s TV crowd and support her for years…and her ‘Friends’ seated at the table with him - HAD to be feeling for him. I had remembered where he was just 4 years before, if that — on stage and worshipping and adoring someone he loved - telling the world just what this other person meant to him…and I knew in that minute, that he and Jennifer Aniston would soon be toast.

I also knew, that was official confirmation, that Jen Aniston was THE the dumbest b* on the face of the planet, to diss Brad Pitt like that - a man who is so caring and loving — who has supported her as she claimed (”through all my crap an dysfunction,” she said) - and treat him like an afterthough…or a “buddy,” — like a fookin’ bowling partner!! I started to dislike her big time in that moment, and was hoping for them to crash and burn and soon - so that Brad could find someone that would love and adore him. I knew instinctively that this man deserved better, even if he didn’t know it yet.

Sure enough, less than 2 years later you could stick a fork in them. MUCH less, if you count that shortly after these Golden Globes, he was GONE for 6 months shooting Troy in Morocco, then another 3 months, and also she then would be gone for several months as well in the UK shooting ‘Derailed.’ All told you could say that equated to less than a year later.

Personally, I think Aniston is one vengeful b*. I think she was upset that he was leaving to shoot Troy for several months (he was growing his hair out you can see at that time - rumor also has it that he had sprinkled her dress w/ dandruff flakes before she went up, and coupled with everything unspoken she just decided to be nasty, and not nice, and not even mention him - then when she did, it was equally cold).

I also think she was worried that this was an epic romance and action film (Achilles cavorting with the Vestal Virgin character played by Rose Byrnes probably did NOT sit well) and that he might be tempted.

Anyway — she showed her dissatisfaction with his choices by acting out on stage, and trying to humiliate him deliberately. For those of you who were following along..she tried to rectify her mistake, knowing she had fooked up - by guesting on SNL a few weeks later and wearing an ‘I love Brad Pitt’ T-shirt. Too little too late silly b*.

Hello Oprah,
I do not agree with all the anger I have read on this board today but I must say that I too believe that you have “jumped the shark” so to speak. Since today’s topic has turned into a discussion, catfight really, about Pitt and Aniston’s marriage, I feel compelled to share my opinion. No one, except for Brad, Jen, and God knows what went on in their marriage. That said, I do believe that you have blatantly taken sides and are contributing to the anger exhibited here today. Jennifer Aniston is 38 year old woman, who like many women today, has gone through a divorce. She did NOT lose a child, she is NOT penniless, and God willing she has her health. There is no need to coddle her and there is no need to insult the intelligence of your viewers.

Today’s show, at least the segment that included Aniston, had little to do with the 10 minute film. It had little to do with celebrating women. In my opinion, it had everything to do with keeping Jennifer Aniston in the limelight and promoting The Break Up dvd which conveniently comes out tomorrow.

Jennifer Aniston may be a nice woman but she is not someone whom I admire. I’ve paid attention to her words and her actions (non tabloid related) in the last 2 years since her split with Brad Pitt and I don’t like what I’ve seen. She speaks out of both sides of her mouth to the point where I wonder if even she believes what she is saying. She both directly and indirectly refers to her ex husband in some sad and passive aggressive bid to court public sympathy. I just wish you would stop enabling her.

I’ve never even visited this site before, maybe once, (I watch the show all the time) but Jen Anis today almost forced me over here to see what’s going on with Oprah. Like if I could knock on her door and ask her what’s up?
I don’t understand the friendship or support that she shows for this chick. It just seems odd mainly because she is the opposite of inspirational. I saw only the last half hour of the Jennifer Anniston show today, and I was initially bored to see her. She bores me. She comes across as about two inches deep, shallow, as if she’s always holding back, always censoring herself. She comes across really as if she’s kind of scared. And she’s not very articulate. I don’t get the America’s Sweetheart thing. Why? What’s the qualification for that? Because she was on Friends? Not to me. I think she is too insecure, or appears to be too insecure to be a good role model for girls.

“Funny and loyal”? is that her personality or the personality of her character on Friends?

It was almost painful to watch Oprah try to talk to those women, it’s like she was pulling teeth, they wouldn’t or couldn’t fill the time with anything profound or even insightful. They didn’t have any meaningful observations about life to offer, at least in the last half hour. I’ll watch it tonight again, but I don’t think I missed anything.

One woman said that her best friend was her dog. And then Oprah says, Yeah for all the women who love dogs. I mean, life is about reaching out to other human beings, such as men. A dog is a really second rate alternative. How sad. The lonely single woman with her dog. And I could tell Oprah was bored. She looked bored. So was I.

Hay Ya’ll!! Well, I’m coming off an insane week, and no time to post or read around here extensively…I’m sure I missed some good chihuahua fights.

Clini, I echo your same sentiment in post # 361. I wasn’t “mad about Brad” years ago, either, but I did like his work, and I am not a huge watcher of Friends. I have seen maybe 10-15 of the early episodes, but I never went out of my way to watch it.

I did catch Jen’s “thanks for holding me together, man” comment, and I just looked at her and thought, WTH? Jen girl, you ain’t even right for that, and you know it. It was then that I knew their marriage wasn’t all rainbows and cotton candy shootin’ out their azzes. Thanks for the Oprah Board post, love those! I think O needs to see that the public is soooo over Jen. She needs to go work on herself and her own issues and then maybe she can actually have a successful relationship. Enabling her only prolongs all of our agony.

I see people are making a big deal about who is holding who, and where Shiloh is…etc. WHo cares? Man, I’d hate for my life and realtionship with my partners and children to be analyzed like this based on how we walk across the parking lot to the car after a trip to the Mall. Jeebus.

If Angie were holding Shiloh, somebody would harp about how she’s showing off “The Chosen One”(man, I hate that moniker) like they did in the New Orleans pictures (Oh, she’s in a WHITE blanket!, Remember, ladies??). Now that she’s not holding her, other morons are saying she doesn’t love her as much. It must be hard living with that much hate in your heart. I guess I should just feel sorry for them.
