Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie take their children Maddox and Zahara for a rickshaw ride in Pune, India. This is Maddox’s second rickshaw ride with his parents (first one here). Baby Shiloh sat both of these rickshaw rides out… Brad swats away the paparazzi on this rickshaw ride…

Thank you Jared for the new pic! Imo this rickshaw drive must be really entertaining and not that chaotic, as we’ve thought. Otherwise why would they venture out the third time, especially with Z? Perhaps we see danger where there is none in reality.

All of these death wishes are the accomplishment of Aniston’s VF interview.

I hope you’re all doing well. Lovely pictures and Z is getting big. It’s always great to see them becuase I’m reminded of how open their hearts are.
A couple of years, I used to be friends with someone that I shouldn’t have. She was nice but it wasn’t enough cancel out the bad in her. I remember say that she would never date a man that wasn’t white (she’s white) nor would she adopt a child of color. The reason why and this is an exact quote, “I want my kids to look like me.” I found that quite shallow and I still do. Both my parents are Cambodian and my sisters and I look nothing like them lol We really don’t.
So, I just don’t think that the way your child looks shouldn’t matter just like whether they’re adopted or not. To me there is no difference between a child coming a his/her mother’s womb into her arms or to to another person’s heart and home. I’m sorry if I sound strange or preachy.

MOTIVES QUESTIONED
Madonna’s motives have been questioned, as commentators wonder whether the 48-year-old is imitating other “A”-list stars.
Jolie has adopted children from overseas and Africa has become a major draw for celebrity campaigners including Gwyneth Paltrow and U2’s Bono.
“I think in her mind she thinks she’s doing the right thing and putting her money where her mouth is,” said Michael Musto, a celebrity columnist for the Village Voice in New York.
“But I think the cynicism is coming from the fact that this looks like a copycat of Angelina’s actions and Madonna seems to view an African orphan as the latest hot accessory.”
Another raw nerve exposed by the adoption story has been what outsiders view as the special treatment given to Madonna because of her wealth, fame and power.
Malawian law bans adoptions by non-residents, but officials are granting an exemption to Madonna.
“The rich shouldn’t get preferential treatment. I am fine with the idea of the adoption but I want people to go through the system,” said Emmie Chanika, director of the Civil Liberties Committee.

Poor madonna. I’m starting to feel bad for her - as people everywhere are questioning her motives.
I think she would have gotten less backlash if the child had been orphaned.
This boy’s father is alive, and is speaking to the press (he’s happy that his son is being adopted by Madonna - but why wouldn’t he be? He himself put him in the orphanage.) Some are saying why take this boy away from his father and his culture - why not just give the Dad the money to raise him.
They should have done a bit more research, maybe waited a little longer.

Im wondering again, with the new pics at Goa airport, if they actually brought Shiloh with them. I dont see their nanny with them nor any other person with a baby and not a sight of a stroller. They must have left her at the hotel, but its also unlikely. I mean how did they hide her? They must have found a clever way to do it. I think thats why Brad seems to be always on the lookout for paps.

Regarding Madonna’s adopted kid, it’s easy for people to criticize her, but they forget that some men just don’t want to bothered by a young kid. In their mind, the kid hinders their chance to find a new mate.
I have a serious problem with someone adopting a kid who has a parent and who has the means to assist that parent in raising that kid. The best interest of the child is not what Madonna has in mind. I hope Lourdes divorces Madonna as a parent one day!
Rosie talked about Madonna’s adoption on The View and since they’re friends, I trust her as a reliable source. According to her, there is no “waiting list” for adoptions in Malawi unlike China. So, the reports that Madonna “cut in line” are wrong. And Rosie also said, that Madonna didn’t decide on a whim to just adopt him when she got there. She and her family had decided to welcome another child into their lives and home months before. When the father put him up for adoption it wasn’t “temporary” he did so because he just couldn’t provide for him and legally, he did sign away his rights as his father. I’m just relying what Rosie said.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa (CNN) — Twelve-year-old Koketso Motshoane is just one of many millions of children in Africa orphaned by AIDS. She has five other siblings scattered across various orphanages whom she gets to see just once a year.
She’s never heard of pop star Madonna but says she’d jump at the chance to be adopted by anyone willing to give her a home, celebrity or not.
“I would feel happy,” she says. “Because I have no mother.” (Watch Koketso Motshoane describe her feelings on adoption — 3:38 Video)
But some child-welfare activists are up in arms when it comes to celebrities canvassing the continent in search of orphaned babies.
Koketso lives in an orphanage along with 58 other children between 12 weeks and 21 years old in Johannesburg. It’s run by Gail Johnson, a white South African who adopted a black child she named Thabo Jeffrey Johnson after she found him abandoned in a warehouse five years ago on Christmas morning.
This is her second black adoption. Her first child died of AIDS when he was only 12 years old. (Watch Madonna visit African orphans — 1:30 Video)
Johnson has two biological children, now in their 30s, but she believes she has the right to offer the best care she can to children abandoned or orphaned.
“It would freak me out to give him up, but if there’s a young couple who want him or a black couple who want him, I would hand him over,” she says.
Johnson sympathizes with Madonna and other celebrities who’ve adopted African babies, saying cross-cultural and cross-continental adoption is fine as long as it’s done in a genuine manner.
“The bottom line if someone wants to and it’s sincere, it’s not a publicity stunt or whatever — why not?” she says. “If you look at Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, he’s adopted her two little ones prior to her having her own in Namibia. Now that’s sincerity as far as I’m concerned.”
But dozens of Malawi’s human rights groups are taking legal action as a boy that Madonna is trying to adopt there, 13-month-old David Banda, has been flown out of the country accompanied by her bodyguard.
Malawian law prohibits adoptions by non-residents. Typically people who want to adopt must spend 18 months in the country being evaluated by child welfare workers.
But Madonna was granted custody last week due to what her lawyers called “special circumstances.”
Eye of the Child, the group that is spearheading the legal fight, expresses a fear that exceptions made for celebrities could open the door for child traffickers.
Other charities are delighted that Madonna has publicized the plight of some 900,000 orphans in Malawi. She also has pledged $3 million to help the country’s orphans, and her charity, Raising Malawi, is setting up an orphan center.
In South Africa, Lynne Cawood of rights group Childline says the adoption issue “has to be handled sensitively.”
“The whole issue of intercultural adoption, whether a white child in a black family or a black child in a white family, is a very controversial one,” says Cawood.
“Very often, children’s identities get formed within their family, and where children identify themselves as different from their biological families, that is an issue that that child has to grapple with and come to terms with,” she says.
Johnson insists the alternative is bleak because the number of children in Africa losing parents to AIDS is growing and adoption, though a last resort, is the only option. (Watch why the boy’s father turned him over to the orphanage — 2:30 Video)
“I get quite a lump when I try and visualize a little one going to bed with nothing and I can’t. It hurts too much because it’s wrong,” she says.
Cawood agrees. “We would rather have a good home overseas than no home in Africa.”

Same here. Whenever I see a baby girl around Shiloh’s age, I pay close attention and imagine her doing similar things. Hoping that we see a recent picture of Shiloh sometime soon..but I can be patient!

#38: Madonna’s mistake was making such a big production out of adopting and wanting instant results with her money. She was riding the adoption wagon because she thinks it’s the hot trend right now. She’s ran out of ideas on how to hog the spotlight and keep it on her.
If Angelina is getting all this publicity because she adopted some orphans, then by golly, so would she. Also if Angelina can give money and be called humanitarian, then so could she…and no measly $300,000 either. She’s going to make it 10 times more…let it not be said that she is a cheapie!

i have to respectfully disagree with anyone who has a problem with madonna adopting this child. i’m not a fan of hers, but the idea that she should have just given his father money so that he could raise him is unrealistic. is that what everyone should do? there are many adoptions in process and on the books where the biological parents are still alive and opt to give up legal rights to their children because they are unable or unwilling to give the child the proper care. should we throw money at them and give their children back to them? under what conditions?
if madonna had simply given the man money, david’s only advantages would consist of being in his own culture with his biological parent in a third world country that faces many other problems. being adopted by madonna and guy ritchie gives that child so much more than he would have had in malawi. he has two parents and siblings now and a life of privilege ahead of him. also, who’s to say that madonna won’t keep in touch with this child’s father or make sure that he understands his origins? what she’s done is a good thing, and although i’m still not a fan, but i admire her for it.
I had a feeling the rickshaw rides were blown out of proportion, if they didn’t enjoy the first one , they wouldn’t have gone on the second one and now they have done it again. They are having a good time, i’m glad.

$46: Rosie is a liar. Malawi has a strict rule for people regarding adoption that is why that country has only had a few foreign adoptions. Last year, it was only 3!!
To adopt there, the prospective parents are obligated to stay for 18 months and that was mandatory so they could do evaluatee you. Madonna was granted a waiver by a judge because she was rich and famous. It wasn’t fair for others that have been going through the system at the time!

i really want to know when the balance of power happen. when did they decide i wonder that Brad’s role was now daddy in every sense, you know given permission for Madd to things, Madd haven to ask Brad first for stuff, punishment and reward times. i also wonder if Angelina has felt twinges of jealousy when maybe their son turned to his dad instead of her for something or other. it would be normal since she had Mad all that time alone. i just love this little growing globetrotting family and God bless them.

I feel the same way. I did read that Madge said she would bring the boy back for frequent visits, and I think she will. I have never been a serious fan of Madonna, but like Angie, I think she catches alot of stinky-poo for being a strong woman who goes after what she wants in life. No one adopts a child for PR…. adoption is for life and as someone stated on the other thread, Guy contacted Brad about adoption and they’ve been emailing Angie for a while. Give the woman a break…. let’s not forget what madonna would open herself up to. she probably already gets ridiculous amounts of solicitation for monetary help. can you imagine what she would open up in her life if she just handed this man money? adopting the child and taking him in to her home and into family shows a lot more love and responsibility than just giving someone a handout.
as for the legal side-stepping, i don’t know the details, but from what i’ve read, the Malawian government gave their permission. i think the onus is on them to explain why they gave madonna special treatment and don’t give other prospective adoptive parents the same privileges.

I don’t think it was necessary to tell Real TIta to STHU. She was not derogstory in her post. I do think what Rosie said does not go with what I’ve heard. That’s said, I am assumming that Madfonna/Richie adopted the baby because they wanted to and it was not a publ;icty stunt.
I think it is great to see Zahara right the rickasaw with her family. Shiloh is far too young to ride on one of these things.

Maddox looks as if he had something in his mind — very cute. Zahara looks like just too small to make any difference about what’s going on in front of her eye — cute in her own tiny little ways. Suspiciously lacking in all the pictures of the family is Shiloh.
Maddox was 5 months old when adopted by Jolie, and Zahara was 6 months old. Both were carried around as Jolie went from place to place. I wonder why the different treatment with Shiloh.
Both Maddox and Zahara have helped tremendously with their parents’ image, and they are very effective in their roles. Perhaps that’s why they are included everywhere the parents go. Shiloh is the natural born and there’s no statement needs to be made. It’s obvious: the parents did one of those usual physical things and there she was created. There’s no moral highground to claim.

While she’s certainly old enough to travel, they still have to take precautions as a baby’s immune system isn’t like an adults - bottomline, it’s best she stay in the suite.

i really want to know when the balance of power happen. when did they decide i wonder that Brad’s role was now daddy in every sense, you know given permission for Madd to things, Madd haven to ask Brad first for stuff, punishment and reward times. i also wonder if Angelina has felt twinges of jealousy when maybe their son turned to his dad instead of her for something or other. it would be normal since she had Mad all that time alone.

Hay, glad to lure you out! And seriously, I think Brad looks for ANY excuse to act 10 again, haha!! He seems like a big ol’ kid, especially in Toronto, making those faces for the camera, he was brimming over with happiness.
I have also wondered when alot of the same things happened because it all happened so FAST, you know? The only thing I can say is that Angie seems to go with her gut feelings on things, and somehow she just knew Brad was *the one*. I truly do not think she knew of any of his marital woes until Italy and the MAMS reshoots in Oct 04. And even then, I don’t think that’s when they actually talked about getting together as a couple. Just my opinion, but I think Brad did open up to her on that trip, and they both knew they were incredibly attracted and turned on by each other, but Brad also knew that if he made any move to try and jump Angie’s bones while he was still married, she would turn tail and run. I have a feeling they both left Italy knowing there was going to be more to their story, but neither one was sure what was going to happen. Brad knew what he had to do, he had to get out of his miserable excuse of a marriage, and Angie, having gotten to know him as a friend first, probably went from feeling like “Wow, he’s so great, Jennifer is lucky to have him. Too bad he’s married.”, to feeling like, “Hmmmm…..maybe this could go somewhere. After he’s available again.”
So, since they had a history and a TRUST connection already, once they became intimate, I think Mr. Braddy just rocked Angie down to her toenails. She knew she could trust him with everything. Jealousy? Nah, Angie’s not that way about anything.

If she’d gone through the system like anybody else had done, then I would have been the first to applaud. If she’d tried harder to get under the radar and then just pronounced the adoption after it was a fait accompli (just like Meg Ryan or Angelina) then I wouldn’t suspect her motives.
This woman doesn’t do anything that doesn’t have any benefit for her at the end. There were many African countries that didn’t have such strict rules regarding adoption and are begging that their kids be chosen. Read the article that a poster had pasted above. But Madonna must insist on Malawi.

first they were up in arms because brad & angie had shiloh’s picture taken when she was so young. now they’re up in arms because she isn’t seen everywhere with them and the assumption is that they don’t want her picture taken.
it is not uncommon for parents to take their older children out more often than the younger. the four of them look sardined in that tiny rickshaw and i doubt shiloh would have appreciated the ride or the disturbance of her nap.

Yes, I actually remember watching that telecast on TV and being shocked that she forgot to thank him. The story shortly after was that she was mad at him for rearranging the furniture once again and that she has tripped over something in the living room and broke her toe or something ridiculous like that…That’s why the cain!But my heart just broke for him that night.
You know Guli , I have been in love with him for a very long time now. Gwynneth, Jennifer, and Angelina are simply people that I have gotten interested in simply because they were in his life. And that is the honest truth!

Because the media and the public treat Shiloh differently than her siblings. Can you tell me why when Angelina adopted Zahara, people did not donate thousands of dollars worth of baby products to the Jolie-Pitts? Can you tell me why People magazine was willing to give millions to charity for pics of Shiloh and not when Zahara was adopted? Can you tell why there was bounty on Shiloh on not Maddox or Zahara?
Also…people use a little common sense. India is now going through its monsoon season and the weather is sticky, sometimes windy, and humid. A lot of disease gets around very quickly in that kind of weather. India is right now facing a crises with Denegue spreading and they are trying to get it under control. If you are a smart parent, you do not bring a 4 month baby into a richshaw or expose them to all the conditions. Use some freaking common sense.
I ran out of room for my post #100, and just wanted to complete my thought, that I don’t think Angie feels any twinges of jealously towrds brad and Mad’s relationship. She and Brad both seem to be rather postive people, so I think she dwells more on what Brad brings to the lives rather than anything he may be taking away from her. A boy needs a daddy, and she knows she found a PEARL in Brad. He’s a keeper! Her face in the Ann C interview when she was preggers said it all. Sistah-girl was glowing! Only true happiness can that look. ;)!

BDJ, thanks but man, there are so many typos in that post. lol I think just it’s wonderful when a person decides to share their life, heart and home with a child whether it be through adoption or otherwise.
i have to respectfully disagree with anyone who has a problem with madonna adopting this child. i’m not a fan of hers, but the idea that she should have just given his father money so that he could raise him is unrealistic. is that what everyone should do? there are many adoptions in process and on the books where the biological parents are still alive and opt to give up legal rights to their children because they are unable or unwilling to give the child the proper care. should we throw money at them and give their children back to them? under what conditions?
if madonna had simply given the man money, david’s only advantages would consist of being in his own culture with his biological parent in a third world country that faces many other problems. being adopted by madonna and guy ritchie gives that child so much more than he would have had in malawi. he has two parents and siblings now and a life of privilege ahead of him. also, who’s to say that madonna won’t keep in touch with this child’s father or make sure that he understands his origins? what she’s done is a good thing, and although i’m still not a fan, but i admire her for it.

I couldn’t agree with you more. There is no disputing that Madonna and Guy received special treament from the Malawian govenrment and I’m glad they did. Why? Because now people are beginning to question and reaccess the laws in Malawi. With almost 1 million orphans in the country, where 1 in 10 adults have HIV - is the law that is currently on the books in the best interest of the children? Is it in the best interest of the child for the prospective parent to have to reside in Malawi for a minimum of 18 months before adoption is granted? How many people can really afford to do that? This has become much greater than Madonna and Guy and that sweet little boy David. This is about what are we as human beings going to do about the millions of children globally who seek parents.
