Oct. 17, 2006 — My husband and I began the adoption process many months prior to our trip to Malawi. I did not wish to disclose my intentions to the world prior to the adoption happening as this is a private family matter. After learning that there were over one million orphans in Malawi, it was my wish to open up our home and help one child escape an extreme life of hardship, poverty and in many cases death, as well as expand our family.
Nevertheless, we have gone about the adoption procedure according to the law like anyone else who adopts a child. Reports to the contrary are totally inaccurate. The procedure includes an 18-month evaluation period after which time we hope to make this adoption permanent. This was not a decision or commitment that my family or I take lightly.
I am overwhelmed and inspired by my trip to Malawi and hope that it helps bring attention to how much more the world needs to do to help the children of Africa.
My heartfelt thanks for all the good wishes I have received and I hope the press will allow my family some room for us to experience the joy we feel to have David home.

Maddox and Z. are beautiful kids–it’s always a pleasure to see them.
Good news about Madonna’s new adoption as well.

OMG! That was a very articulate letter and she expressed her self wisely. Way to go Maddona! Every person that is adopting a child that needs a better life should be blessed!Bravo to her and Guy.And the report that they took some advice regarding adoption from Brad and Angie is very good.I’m not a fan of her but I wish her and her family the best!

Off topic: JOKE OF THE DAY
Ed was in trouble. He forgot his wedding anniversary.

up,

Brad Pitt (”Babel”) is starting to pop up on more and more Oscar gurus’ lists in the best-actor lineup even though he’s declared himself in the supporting race. If Oscar voters behave just as independently, which they sometimes do, that could cause real category chaos. Putting him in lead might prove to be a wise move and give Brad the gold he might otherwise lose in supporting (I always wonder if that would’ve happened to Nicole Kidman with “The Hours.”) Or at least it might cause poor Peter O’Toole to pour a tall, stiff one considering Brad’s current media heat. (Well, make that an extra tall, stiff one in his case.) Or pushing Brad up to lead could cause him to lose the Oscar altogether, not just because his odds might be better in supporting, but because he could fall in between the cracks of both categories.
At the Oscars, there isn’t a qualification committee that firmly declares you to be in this category or that. Voters can choose to put you in either race after being guided by your wish declared in “For Your Consideration” ads that run throughout Oscarland. Even though Keisha Castle-Hughes campaigned in the supporting race for “Whale Rider,” voters pushed her up to lead. Maria Bello (”A History of Violence”) ended up getting shut out completely last year when her votes split following chaos at earlier kudos. Although the New York Film Critics Circle declared her to be the year’s best supporting actress, the Golden Globes put her in the lead drama lineup where she lost to Felicity Huffman (”Transamerica”).
Beyond the FYC ads they see, members of the academy’s acting branch get no category guidance when they vote for nominees. They do get a reminder list of possible contenders, but it’s broken down by films, which are listed alphabetically. Beneath each film title, all of its actors are listed alphabetically, too, regardless of the length of their role. So this means that voters will see Brad’s name high up on their reminder list because “Babel” starts with “B,” but, because his last name starts with “P,” he’ll be low down on the list of that film’s cast members.
If voters choose to push Brad up to lead, he’s so red hot right now as a superstar that he has a serious shot at beating frontrunner O’Toole. But does he have a better shot at winning supporting? He faces tough competition there, too. Possibilities: Ben Affleck (”Hollywoodland”), Alan Arkin or Steve Carell (”Little Miss Sunshine”), Adam Beach and Ryan Phillippe (”Flags of our Fathers”), Michael Caine (”The Prestige, “eChildren of Men”), Brian Cox (”Running with Scissors”), Jackie Earle Haley (”Little Children”), Anthony Hopkins and Laurence Fishburne (”Bobby”), Djimon Hounsou (”Blood Diamond”), Jack Nicholson and Leo DiCaprio (”The Departed”), Eddie Murphy (”Dreamgirls”), Ryan Phillippe (”Flags of Our Fathers”), Tobey Maguire (”The Good German”), Michael Pena (”World Trade Center”), Joe Pesci (”The Good Shepherd”), Tim Robbins (”Catch a Fire”), Martin Sheen (”The Departed”).
Brad was nommed for best supporting actor of 1995 for “Twelve Monkeys,” but lost to Kevin Spacey (”The Usual Suspects”).

269 | april - LMAO…I love it, so funny.
260 | guli - Thank you very much Guli. Sorry, I didn’t realize you brought it to Ell’s attention. Like you, I think Ell is wonderful at making videos and has done such a fantastic job in providing these videos for our viewing. I hope she makes more because she is so great at it. Thank you Guli and thanks to you Ell as well. Great job and quite an accomplishment.
Wow……I love this family. I always send them tons of love & positive energy. I hope they grow beautifully old together raising their children & living an abundant life in true happiness!
I think Jen is beautiful too. I watched a lot of interviews with Jen on youtube today & she is just gorgeous & I really like her.
But I just love this beautiful family.
These people (including Madonna), just make me want to adopt Sooooo bad….he he, maybe it is an ego thing with me too….lol. But geeeesh are these children beautiful! I’m in tears half the time. I wouldn’t mind one for my very own…
I would like lots of money though, so that I could give the child a good life! I tell ya!
Anyway I’m your typical lurker, crying to Mongo Bongo on you tube again….lol.
These kids are just beautiful!
I really thank these people so much for all the pictures I see of them. That’s definately worth $10,000,000 or $20,000,000 a movie. I think Angelina Jolie once said her income is ridiculous compared to what she does….. but not really compared to how much we/I want of them! Of course I agree with her in her Ann Curie interview this spring that we should build strong families. Mine, idealy will be multi-cultural as well.
Oh btw I do love God too….lol..
..but I’ll try to keep this short! Just kidding…..
272 | CCCC | Hey 4C’s it is OK but I was very confused when you were thanking someone else, no problem… Heck I really don’t care anymore sincse no one else does :-) Oh such is life…………….But I sure miss talking to you lady

ITA with what both of you said. I’m no Madonna fan either, but here’s my thing - why would ANYONE deny this child a better life? That makes no sense to me. I don’t care how much money Madonna has or how she was able to adopt this child. The fact of the matter is that she’s taking a child away from a life of poverty. The father had already given him up because he couldn’t afford to take care of him. What was left but for the child to live in an orphanage with God knows how many other children and all of them starved for attention and affection.
To my mind, you think countries like Malawi - which I’d bearly heard of before - would be happy to have a burden removed from the state or whoever runs the orphanage. They can barely provide for these children either, so why not open up the adoption process and let those children have a chance at a better life…even if they do loose their national identity. It just seems silly to condemn the children to misery when that doesn’t have to be the case.

I just found this on the X board read carefully,
Jen looked nice, her makeup and hair were nice, her dress and shoes her little white puppy.
And she’s so classy all the time poor dear, Brad and Angela made her life a living h*ll and yet she finds time to go on Oprah and do what, what was it she was doing there? Ummmm I know she was ther for a reason but I was too busy thinking about where she got her shoes.
I have not LOL like this in along time.
joke or not thanks
274 | guli |- I CARE!…sure miss talking to you too…and why is that? :).

Hell I wouldn’t mind raising 6 of these gorgeous children. I certainly want one or two of my own with my gorgeous husband as well.
And sure, I would prefer that children are raised by their natural parents……but until then….I’m gonna try to manifest the ability to adopt like this, AND of course provide an increadible amount of love!
To my kids & to the world!
Okay listen to me…..sorry to drive some of ya crazy…lol.
