Baby Zahara & Her Bracelets

Baby Z was spotted wearing bangles (those are like totally so in right now) in the arms of daddy Brad Pitt earlier this week. Zahara is almost two and cute as a button! She was carried by Angelina Jolie’s security officer Mickey Brett earlier this week as well.

Zahara has big beautiful eyes. I love the Afro. However, I know the Black Mothers (such as my own) are now reaching through their computers with bows and ribbons. Keep rocking Zahara. You are going to be a superstar one day. Best Wishes to BAMZS.

she’s so cute and so alert! Check out the jewelry

true, true, not that I have a black mother but that my mother wants to have a fit every time she sees Maddox’s Mohawk!! Poor little girl just don’t want to have her hair tweaked

Thanks J and A! Will sleep better 2nite!

Hi uys!
Hey Jared Long time no post!!!
Thank you for the great pics. You do an awesome job! Visited the new office…thought that i’d say hi!

Zee is so damn cute!!! i love this little girl. I wish they’d let me comb/braid her hair. I’m sure she’d cry but they are going to have to get her use to getting her comb. Hell my oldest still cries when I tell her to get the comb, brush and hair oil. and she’s 12

Couldd she be any cuter??? Love her, love all of them.

Ohhh she is adorable, she is making quite a bit of fashion statements lately, first the infamous pink shoes now the bracelets. Thanks Jared and Audrey.

Zee, I have a ‘Fro too but yours, totally rocks!

oh, Z is adorable.

love, love this family

Well cashmere you are going to fight practically every woman (and some men) here at JJ’s when you throw in the piece about ” occasional tryst with Brad”. Heck I know nothing about hair and hair products, mine is straight and long but with that kind of bonus I’ll learn. OK, can I be your assistant please

She is rockin that fro. I was hoping they would let her hair be natural.

Baby Zahara is too cute. I would just LOVE to hear Z call Brad daddy. (((SWOON))) (((THUD)))

Rica, how are you? how is LV?, are you all settle in?, did you see the old thread with Shiloh pic.?
( too many questions?) ….sorry, :)
Hey Guli, tell Cashmere there is 1 line for BP and 2 lines for AJ….

Awww! She is a typical little girl! My girls love jewlry (mostly plastic of course) and playing dress up. But shoes seem to be the big deal for that age. My youngest is the same age as Zahara and will traipse around in any empty pair of shoes she can find.

With all due respect I seriously disagree with you. I have 3 friends who are Ethiopian, and although one is male, the other two are female, and they use products manufactured for hair identified most with blacks and their hair looks just fine. One has locks, and the other alternates between natural and straightend via a pressing iron (no perm). I also have another friend who lives in London but is the main distrbutor in pretty much every part of Africa and particularly North and West Africa for the black hair care company Carson Inc.

Exactly. I know there are tradtions and I respect that, but this idea that somehow her little hair folicles won’t adapt to anything other than the ancesterial preparation isn’t something I accept. She is SO precious! So inquisitive and misses nothing. Maddox ain’t going to be be able to get away with anything cause Zahara looks like “I saw what you did and I’m telling.” lol. I so think she and Brad are going to have a seriously tight dad/daughter relationship. That’s his boo. He loves all, but that was his first true baby whose diapers he changed, who he fed, who he rocked to sleep, the one he got to see take their first steps and say her first words. That’s his Zee.

Somaligirl @ 10/21/2006 at 3:42 pm

There is no such thing as an AFRICAN hair. Because we Africans are not of one race. We are many races, cultures, religions, etc.

If you want to get offended by what I have to say. Than be offended. But I sure as HECK know who my people are. I can SPOT an Ethiopian from a MILE away. Because we happen to be of the same racial branch. Its FACT.

I’ve known many people to faint at the sight of me saying “I am from Africa” They are like “WHAT, NO YOU AREN’T. YOU ARE INDIAN”

People have this misconcept of Africa, and as GOD is my witness I will change that misconception.

40 | Wth

THAT’S THE WHOLE POINT OF THE HAIR ISSUE. IF THEY DON’T TAKE CARE OF IT AND MANAGE IT PROPERLY, IT AINT GOING TO GROW VERY LONG. IF THEY PUT PIG TAILS NOW THEY ARE GOING TO BREAK IT. IF THEY DON’T COMB IT PROPERLY AND LET IT GO DRY NOW, SHE WILL NOT HAVE BETTER OR LONGER HAIR LATER.
GENETICS PLAY A BIG PART IN WHAT HER HAIR WILL LOOK AND FEEL LIKE BUT MAINTENANCE IS KEY AND THEY HAVE TO BE REALLY MINDFUL OF THAT.

I LOVE THAT HE HAS A BLACK CHILD. LAST NIGHT I LOOKED AT HIM AND THOUGHT–WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT THAT MAN WHOULD HAVE A BLACK BABY.

I LOVE THAT HE AND Z HAVE SUCH A CLOSE BOND.

44 | guli - You are bad bad bad… ok, I have to go now. See everyone later.

Oh, so the topic is how to take care of Z’s hair. It’s better than the X’s lies, so I support every argument here. I had no idea until now that African people’s hair can be so different. Z is really cute with all her bracelets, and i really didn’t find anything wrong with her hair, but I’m not an expert lol. And even if she doesn’t have a lot of hair now, means nothing. My daughter had very little hair at the age of two. We were a little bit worried, but did nothing special, and voila: now her hair is beautiful and thick and everything.

PS; SOMALIGIRL; Bantu dosent mean Black Race silly!

As for Zee’s hair whats the fuss all about? Y’all acting like you’ll be the ones taking care of it. Lay off this cutee’s ‘fro plz!

Wow, Zahara and her hair sparks of a debate about Africa and the different races and cultures. X’s hair inspires comments like “OMg I love her highlights”. LMAO

Z is precious and she looks cute in her daddy’s arm.

hey estelle!

LV is a pain but I’m getting use to it. It’s no worse than Orlando. As for Z’s hair…I’m of color and I don’t view braiding so much as ancestral as i do a hair style. Z’s hair needs to be combed daily. The fact is she doesn’t have hair like theirs or Madd’s or Shiloh’s. A fact they are aware of as they have purchased very expensive hair care products for her. Carol’s Daughter is an amazing line. I use for me and my girls. But it doesn’t stop there. I assume they are doing the best they can, but I’m sorry a child should not leave the house unless his/her hair is neatly combed…I’m sorry. The afro is cute but pig tails or braids will NOT break or damage her hair if done correctly. She may put up a fuss but combing hair is a fact of life for us all but most definitely for people of color. If our hair isn’t combed…yeah you can tell. My mother braided my hair from 8 months up until I was 13. It came down for Easter and picture day only. My sisters and I have always had long hair, but I have cousins who have always had short hair and wore braids as well. So the length is irrelevant. I’m just of that era, where a child’s hair simply needs to be NEATLY combed.

Loving this family to death!!!! I also love the experience that Brad and Angie are blessing their children with.

I CAN BARELY SEE. I NEED TO HAVE THE LETTERS AS BIG AS POSSIBLE.

NICE TO KNOW THAT IF ANY OF YOU DON’T HAVE THINGS YOUR WAY–THE KNIVES COME OUT.

NICE.

Geez, she is like 21 months and people are worried about her hair. Don’t be….the day before was hair was washed; my mom would take out plaits (I wore plaits up until I was 12) and let me get jiggy with it = automatic afro puff LOL

Like most girls of African descent, she probably doesn’t want anyone combing her hair. Z is always turning her head so keeping still long enough to add oil, let alone style it, is probably out of the question. Maybe she cries or falls out on the floor when they grab a comb. Maybe she is tenderheaded. OMG the memories….LOL

I absolutely love the bangles. She is such a girlie girl…..I bet she has a pocketbook (purse) somewhere too….

justsoyouknow @ 10/21/2006 at 4:12 pm

The term “Somali Bantu” is a recent term referring to a grouping of small ethnic groups in Central Somalia. The commonality of these small peoples was their origins from diverse Bantu-speaking peoples, though some now speak Somali-related languages. Some are indigenous to the area, from before the entry of the Cushitic peoples now known as the Somali centuries ago.

Some are descendants of slaves brought from African territories further south. In the last decade or so these small ethnic groups have formed an alliance to represent their common interests. The term Somali Bantu refers to this grouping of peoples speaking several languages and of varying origins from Bantu-speaking peoples.

Bantu
First the term “Bantu.” This is a linguistic term, and refers to a complex family of languages all over Africa. It is also generally used in a loose way to refer to the culture groups or tribes of peoples speaking one of the languages classified as Bantu.

Thus the term “Bantu” refers to about 1500 or more languages. The Bantu languages and peoples are the majority of people living south of the Sahara and cover about 2/3 of the land area in the African continent south of the Sahara.

The Somali people are not among these Bantu peoples, and their language is classified as Cushitic, not Bantu.

crybabyAniston @ 10/21/2006 at 4:31 pm

As a Black American it’s normal for us to obsess about hair. So I don’t think this topic will go away, it’s just a fact of life.

Zahara might be tenderheaded and that’s why Angie is not combing her hair or she might be going for the natural look…hopefully Angie will answer these questions. Since she is using Carol Daughter products they are aware and have products for Zee hair.

I would love to see Angie braiding Zee hair but I don’t think Angie is a ribbon and bows person. She seems more laid back and only with jewerely or tattoos do I see from her.

Zahara is a “cutie pie” I just love her bracelets and I can’t wait to see what she will do next. Each one of Angie children have a personal signature that expressing them.

I wonder if they have to pinch themselves to make sure all of this
is really happening.

ITA! They might just chuckle with each other from time to
time—the MAMS DVD alternate ending coming true, but in
THREE fold LOL! Seriously I won’t be surprised one of Jolie-Pitt
kids at least ends up in the same industry. For Jolie that would be
the 3rd generation of actors. Needless to say, the most
important element in that bizz is “contacts” which is already taken
care of! Awesome.

78 | Be sane |

Then it’d be like “they only got that role because of their parents” These kids are going to hear sh*t like that their whole lives, maybe thay’ll try to stay out of the spotlight?

Shazza, I think she (Somaligirl) meant “Bantu” is another word to describe being of the negroid race. That is what Bantus are.

And for someone you wrote about Somali Bantus they have nothing to do with Somalis. They were brought from Central parts of Africa to Somalia as slaves (sick sh*t).

There are a lot of differences in Africans but the thing is they are from that beautiful Continent. Here is a map classify they differences in “races” in the Continent of Africa.

Much Love the Jolie-Pitt’s Family ..4Ever!

Jared & Audrey, many thanks for loving the BAMZSers Fans!

Jared thanks for the pix! Awesome Brad! Cutie Zee!

I remember that Angelina always put jewelry on Maddox too and I thought that was adorable. I think it may be a cultural thing. I knew a Korean woman who put jewelry on her newborn daughter.

I like Zahara’s hair natural. I hope it grows in thick and bushy and she has a nice full afro. I’m not joking or making fun. As long as it is clean and brushed. She’s has such big eyes and a doll-baby face. I think she’ll look cute.

Zahara has her whole life to worry about her hair–getting perms, straightening it, etc. Angelina can let it rest for now.

I am trying to catch up on the threads, but it’s so hard as I have missed a good week.

The USATODAY article was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. ‘ a lesser star would have been destroyed’ please. She is a TV show he is a bonafide A-list star. Most mature realistic adults don’t believe in fairy tales…. BTW: I just got the new People. Someone could have at least warned me….LOL
*****
Shiloh is Brad’s child through and through. There is picture of baby Brad standing up, holding the back of chair – if memory serves me correctly. Shiloh is that spitting image…love those fat cheeks, I just want to pinch them…Oh no, now I sound like Bo…..LOL
********
ITA that Angie doesn’t seem to be a bow ribbons and barrettes type of woman. Thank god as I personally don’t think that is a cute look for any girl of color. I like Z’s hair out and about…she’s a busy 20 month old, got things to do, interesting places to go…..(finger snaps)

77 | crybabyAniston

I’m a fan of the BAMZS fans on Justjared and I don’t mean to attack you in anyway but I have to disagree with your comment above.

I don’t find it necessary for Angelina to answer these questions for the public. If she does, then that’s her own choice but I’m not praying or hoping that she has to answer any questions about what she does with her daughter’s hair.

We can all debate about this all we want and make it into a cultural debate but in the end it’s Angelina and Brad’s decision to do what they want to do with her hair. And if she leaves it as an afro, then it might have to do with Zahara’s comfort and not something cultural.

I doubt Brad and Angelina are trying to present some “message” about how they handle Z’s hair and I don’t think they are making it into some kind of debate about what it says about Zahara’s background.

Angelina gave Maddox a mohawk because she said his hair stands up and so this was a good hairstyle for his hair. Yet people like to think it has something to do with her being some kind of rebel and projecting that on her children.

We all seem to be making it a bigger deal than it really is.

Some things about this family get over-anazlyzed when it needs to be taken at face value. Not everything has some grand meaning or metaphor behind it.

Again, I’m not attacking you. I just don’t understand why Angelina HAS to answer such questions.

Missouri Fan, I don’t know if you saw this in the last thread so i’m positng it here.

Heheh, I think Jon already does show his love for her even when she’s not there lol In 2003 or 2004 (really can’t remember which year it was), when she went to the economic forum (Sharon Stone was there also) he, like always, made fun of Sharon. But when Angie was on the screen he said that he couldn’t pay attention to what she was saying because her hotness distracted him lol

I am an African American womon who raised 3 daughters. Remember they just came from the beach, and Angie probably hasn’t had time to wash and brush Z’s hair. When my girls hair got wet from swimming or showering I would let it breathe until I felt like combing it. African Americans are overly senistive about black children’s hair, especially when they are being reared by white parents. Most white people don’t know how to care for their hair, and as a result the children’s hair goes unattended. But, having read Angie’s book, Notes of my Travels, and seeing how she prepares herself for whatever she under takes, I am certain she and Brad will either figure it out or seek help. The hair is a small issue. The larger issue is that this child is alive, and well and enjoying a life most of us will never have. As a mother who always kept her daughter’s hair looking good, if not always stylish, according to them. I am not going to stress over this hair issue. I love the bracelts. This is one lucky family. Not just Z, and Maddox because they were adopted, but Brad and Angie because they will grow and learn from Z and Maddox. Carol’s Daughter is a really good product. Someone told them to purchase it. That same person, or someone else will help them understand when. I will volunter as the hair care taker. I just want to travel, and I’m to old for Brad. Plus I want him to stay with Angie. Peace everybody, even the haters. One day they will stop hating, because they will realize it doesn’t change anything.

p.52 Did Jen lie to Oprah
excerpt:–

…..”The toughest people to read are actors”, Jack Trimarco, a former FBI polygraph expert tell US . “Most things they say are scripted”. Indeed Aniston’s acting coach Leigh Kilton-Smith was in the fron row.

(note the last sentence, Jen brought her acting coach to tape Oprah)

108 | wow |
Not to gang up on you, crybabyAniston, but I do agree with wow. AJ shouldn’t have to engage in a Q & A about how she is raising her children. You’re sounding like a poster from a previous thread who demanded that BP answer 40+ questions about his marriage/separation/divorce. Besides, if the kids are happy and well taken care of, the route that got them there shouldn’t be questioned.

As for the hair debate, I hope they won’t put chemicals in her hair. Chemicals shouldn’t be in the debate at this point; she’s barely two. And although there are relaxers designed for children, that always struck me as wrong somehow. Most of us had to endure pressing, which could be painful, especially to the tenderheaded. I hope they allow it to be natural as long as they can. Z may experience peer pressure when she’s a teen and push for chemical intervention; I say, let B and A instill a healthy pride in Zahara.

Braids could be cool, but it depends on who’s doing it. Some people braid way too tight and sometimes it takes hours; the concept of torturing a barely two year old for hours isn’t appealing. And you all know that if BA let Z in for hair braiding, there will be those claiming that they are looking for an out to dealing with black hair, or that they are ashamed of Z-nevermind black parents have to deal with their and their children’s hair issues. Then again, they would bash BA for ‘allowing’ Z to have an afro, as if an afro is an unnatural hairstyle.

As long as BA doesn’t cop out like some negligent parents do… I knew some black parents who shaved their kids’ heads, regardless of gender, to duck the trials associated with black hair… now, that’s a shame.

Hello ladies, what is going on here? I can’t believe people are talking about Zee’s hair. So, what her hair is not comb in the picture, big deal, there are more important thing in the world to worry about that Zee’s hair not been combed in one picture; people just like to complain about much to do about nothing, leave B&A to raise Z the way they want too.

Can we please understand the definition of “African-American” Zahara is not an “African-American” She is an “Ethiopian-America”

The term African America is used for the ancestors of slaves. Like Oprah is African America. Northeast Africans are not “African-American”.

is anyone having trouble with this site?

correct me if i’m wrong.
i thought Z will always be an Ethiopian with an american citizenship because she was born in Ethiopia and her ancestry is Ethiopian.

malibumom @ 10/21/2006 at 7:26 pm

I had an issue with the hair a long time ago. Of course I was one of the mothers with the ribbons, ponytail holders and barettes-my girl was (and is) a girly girl. Ribbons on the hair matched the ribbons on the socks. . . It is obvious that Z won’t be raised to be frilly and that’s Angie’s choice. I do agree with Rica however, I don’t care who you are and what you know and don’t know. NO child should leave the house with hair like that. Plait it, braid it or whatever. Most ppl I know need some sort of moisturizer. It wouldn’t hurt to brush the hair on a regualr basis also. But hey, that’s Angie’s kid. She represents Angie when she leaves the house-if Angie is okay with her precious little princess’ hair looking like that-then hey- so am I. To each his or her own. But for me, when my kids leave this house they are well groomed and polished!

Shiloh must be cute too, I dont know. The only pics I have seen of her are airbrushed pics from people and she was cute there…but her momma should stop giving her special treatment by not letting her get photographed. Thats the thing I hate about Angelina - she shows off her adopted kids and hides her biological child from getting photographed.

BCBG, you are CORRECT!

I think people are disrespectful calling her an “African-American.”

It shows people don’t even care to learn this sweet babies lineage. They just label her and run with it. When Maddox was first adopted if people didn’t know what he was they were like “Cute Chinese baby.” I remember when I was younger, every Oriental person was called Chinese!

Hun. where’d you get your information? ’cause she looks Bantu to me.And they are from the sub sahara

damn! It just struck me. It’s so surreal. Zahara’s daddy is Brad Pitt. And Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are together and have three kids together.
So VERY VERY surreal. It’s been almost two years and yet people are still having difficulty with that concept. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are mommy and daddy. I wonder if they have to pinch themselves to make sure all of this is really happening.

========================

I have the same reaction, I am too still in shock that these two are together and so happy.

I think that’s the reason the curiosity of the media is sooooo big . People cant believe that this is happening, lets not forget that in january of 2005, Brad and Jens were still a reality and now, less then two years later Brad and Angelina are the most famous family in Hollywood.

I gotta say it…Brad & Z…awwwww.

They are so cute.

The first post did not go through - Anyhow, I simply love Zahara’s hair. It works for her. She looks adorable in this picture with her dad Brad. The bangles are working as well.

Zahara looks very secure in this picture with her dad. She looks very content. I love this picture. Also Brad is a professional with carrying children and diaper bags.

Somaligirl…I hate to beak it to you - but technically, scientifically, there’s no such thing as “race.” Really. You can look it up if you like.

As you state, are people in Africa mixed with other ethnicities much like people on most other continents? Why of course. But you sound very ignorant when you lump other Africans (of different ethnic background than yours) and African Americans into one group and say they have the same hair texture. That’s hilarious and WRONG. 95% of African Americans have other admixtures in them - having been in the Americas for 4 centuries…mostly European and Asiatic in the form of Native North Americans…so to say their hair texture is exactly alike is preposterous…hair could be anywhere from fine and silky straight to coarse and kinky and everything in between.

Black hair care products that are worth their salt, are created with this in mind. But that aside, blacks wherever they hail from don’t have to use ‘black’ hair care products, they can use products that aren’t ethnic specific as well…

Please get a clue somaligirl…the world’s people are pretty much all admixtures - and so you’ll find a variation of every different skin tone, and hair texture — particularly regarding African Americans…your comments were erroneous.

Ethiopians are gorgeous people with beautiful skin and hair…i love that supermodel from ethiopia liya kebede….picture below

there is this acronym
ABC=American Born Chinese
ABJ = American Born Japanese
ABK= American Born Korean
ABV=American Born Vietnamese

Can we please understand the definition of “African-American” Zahara is not an “African-American” She is an “Ethiopian-America”

The term African America is used for the ancestors of slaves. Like Oprah is African America. Northeast Africans are not “African-American”.

124 | AngieFan
————————–

This too is untrue.

‘African American’ is used for one reason only because descendants of slaves, had no place to pinpoint from whence they came in Africa and still wanting to include a point of origin and identity in the descriptive…the term ‘African American’ was begun. That doesn’t mean, if someone from Kenya comes here, they cannot call themselves ‘African American’ THEY CAN…as they ARE…but knowing their cultural background, they could also call themselves ‘Kenyan Americans.’

There are no hard and fast rules to any of this.

I recalled Tracy Morgan on SNL, doing the opening monologue with Charlize Theron (South African) - and she referred to herself as ‘African American,’ she was joking…but the point is the same…this isn’t a matter of LAW or anything…you can identify in whatever the f* way you want to, bottomline.

Hi everyone!! I’ve had a hectic couple of weeks, and so glad to
have time to come to JJ’s, and look!! A pic of my favorite — ZEE!!!
I just love the regal look she has, she is soooo cute and as
someone pointed out, obviously intelligent. Always looking at
everything.
#110 dina
LOVE your post!! You sound like someone I’d like to sit and chat
with.

So the discussion is about hair? My mother, a white woman,
worked in an area where she was the only white woman. She saw
black kids and black women’s hair a lot and would tell me how
important hair was. The women would wear hats if they couldn’t
get their hair right that day. many times the kids would wear
hats. Sometimes, just letting it be as an afro was okay, giving it a
break, or if they didn’t have time to fuss with it, but it wasn’t a
general thing, and if the hair was neglected regularly, “nappy
headed” was used as an insult. So Zee has poofy hair here —
doesn’t mean that’s always the case.
And even if it is, maybe they are letting her hair be an afro for a
while, like Macy Gray, but it is still combed.
I agree about maddox having a Mohawk out of how it grew. I
remembeer when he was a baby in an interview Angie saying she
had to laugh because his hair grew in as a mohawk, and stood
straight up in the back. I had a friend whose granddaughter was
half Filipino and the baby was a girl and did the same thing! Stood
straight up, and grew like a Mohawk until she was almost two.
Maybe Angie just let it be natural, to find its own style, and is
doing the same with Zee.

LOVE the bracelets! Zee is getting to that age where she is aware
of clothes and girl’s accessories. Until age five, she will likely go
through a big I’m A Girl stage. This is the age that Disney
markets its Princesses to, and a little older for those who remain
girly girls. It’s so fun to watch, and the boys are definite about
wanting to show they are Boys, and looking up to Daddy and
other male role models in their lives and copying them. So cool
that they have Brad for them, and Angie is letting them find their
own style and be themselves and express themselves.

Alexanderina @ 10/21/2006 at 8:10 pm

People stop the craziness about Z’s hair, I think that she looks beautiful and I love her hair, and I think that B&A are doing a fine job with her hair, my goodness she is not quite 2 years old and people are making a big stink over her hair. They are trying to do the best they can with Z’s hair, and I have to say thanks to Brad for the shout out to Carol’s Daughter Hair Product, because I ordered some hair product from them, and I got them and use some of them today when I washed my hair.

Z’s hair looks fine to me. Just because it’s not braided doesn’t mean it’s not combed, or taken cared of. They have a nanny, remember? And her name is Patricia, not Agniezks.(can’t help to name drop )

This is getting nuts! Only black folk do this crazy crap trying to pin down identity, hair issues, skin tone issues and it sucks. I’m a carib mutt, but you best believe that the continent of Africa bore me first.

Yes, and all this stuff about ethnicity and hair texture and blah blah blah….

I forgot to say, I think Zee’s hair looks adorable…they could keep it short just like that, and ina little curly fro’ and she’d be rockin’….it probably just looks a little unkempt their because for all we know the child had been napping for a few hours on her Daddy…give the baby a break please.

Lord, black folks and their hair issues….

I can just hear Zahara being interviewed on TV one day by an old @ss Katie Couric, laughing at how her Mama and Daddy had a time with her hair.

The child is adorable, period.

re: #64 Caplocks, #67 Spamthehaters and #72 Guli response to Canoodle.

I think Canoodle might be referring to the type on the “leave a reply” section. It is small and even enlarging the forum font doesn’t help enlarging the “leave a reply” font. For someone who is legally blind, it would be difficult…it’s difficult for us “presbyopes” (those who need reading glasses) and if one wants to ensure his/her own text is flowing the way one wants it…this new JJ forum system is not like the old one where you could view the text more easily before submitting it.
The new rule that “all haters post in caps” might be unfair to those like Canoodle who “may” have a legitimate problem reading her own text before it is submitted. Please reconsider in all fairness to Canoodle and others in her position. They are already left out in so many ways. I know BAMZS posters would not want to be unfair if they just thought of the other persons point of view. And re: #67post “explain being legally blind”…the disabled person doesn’t always feel comfortable having to explain their situation whether or not from pride, shame and embarassment…it places him/her in the position of being the victim (because non disabled people often view them as such) and consequently the disabled are having to “explain” something very personal and thereby find themselves placed in a separate category than the norm. Why not just try to read the jist of the post before labelling someone a “troll”, then if they are a troll/hater, call them for what they are but give someone a chance first. Canoodle was compelled to explain herself because “she was forced out”, it probably was difficult for her to announce that she was “legally blind” to a forum of strangers. I’ve mentioned in the past that I have a number of degrees, most of the regulars know from previous rare postings one is in Counselling and Mental Health, another (and I’m not lying) is I am optometrist. Give Canoodle a chance, folks. Thanks for reading this.

#151, great points - thanks for making us think about something that would ordinarily escape us. I hope Canoodle continues to post - and the caps are fine with me. I find myself making mistakes w/ this tiny @ss font and little box, and I’ve got good vision, so I can’t imagine how hard it must be for someone who does not.

Trust me , all kinds of people have this debate. You do not want to get a couple of Indians together in a room and talk to them about skin color and skin whitening creams, and how beauty is percieved among Indian culture. This kind of debate occurs among many groups of people. As long as people don’t pressure or force others to follow their own way of thinking, I see discussion as a good thing.

You can change how big the ‘answer window’ is, the text you type, as well as all the text in the whole page, by doing this easy thing:

At the top of you screen (where is ‘File, Edit, View, Favorites’, etc.
click “View
click “Text size”
Click “Larger” or “Largest”.

this somehow makes the ‘answer window’ bigger as well, and the characters you type are bigger too, so you can read them easily.

samali is a language Samalia a country. Samali is spoken in Ethiopia too as well as other languages. People in Ethiopia are more racially and culturally diverse than in Rwanda. Rwanda is in the middle of Africa, and tribes there can be from the same race branches, including Bantu.

Hey, I’m legally blind and I’ll happily explain for someone if they
legitimately want to know what it means.
Even with contacts, I do not have 20-20 vision, and never will.
Without, I qualify for the white cane with the red tip, but not a
dog. I am not entirely blind, I can see, but without contacts, I am
seriously impaired. If I set my glasses down, I literally cannot see
them on the nightstand next to me and have to feel for them. I
am near-sighted to the point where (without contacts) only right
in front of my nose is legible. Even with contacts, I cannot
distinguish facial features at a distance of, say the back of church
or a classroom to the front of the room. I can drive with contacts,
but cannot read small street signs from many blocks away as
other people in the car seem to be able to do. Many time I find
where to turn as I’m too close to slow down and get in the correct
lane. I am the Queen of the U-turn!! This tiny type is hard for me,

Hello Original JPF!!

Yes, I agree. They will be nothing like Paris Hilton or Lindsay
Lohaan the other rich young kids who have no idea how to
conduct themselves, or the meaning in life, or about other people.
They will all be open, tolerant, and curious about the world, and
very knowledgeable. I love that they are learning how to express
themselves, and they are letting them do that, to find what they
like and not impose anything on them. Brad said in an interview
that they put several musical instruments in front of the kids (kid
replica ones) and let them choose what they wanted to play, what
they were drawn to. This sort of thing is so healthy, and tells me a
lot about how they are educating their children and why the kids
are so happy.

~Zahara is beautful, well loved and has a promsing future. When she is older,I would love to see her with one of those beautiful Angela Davis Afros. Her hair has not filled in completely. When babies are born their hair sheds, especially in the back, the hair on the front is usually longer than the back ,it take a little while before it fill in and even out. She is beautilful. The whole family is beautiful.
Peace~

weird thing — was trying to post and it kept going to a Travelocity
ad instead. So if there are multiple posts, I’m sorry!

Going to sign off now — great to see original JPF, Be Sane, The
Real Lou, QQQQ, Rica, piper, with a low, briseis, Missouri Fan,
Renee, kiki, and bdj — have missed you all! I’ve been keeping up
through the email group, and peeking at Jared pics but had no
time to post, just in the emails, so it’s good to see you all who
aren’t emaling daily. (Hello Stardust, Alexanderina, Estelle, Guli!)
You are among the regulars whose posts are always so interesting
and polite to others, and so I’m glad to be able to read your posts
again.

It could be. Well, famous parents are indeed double-edged
sword. On the other hand, you really can’t escape the fate and
blood of ‘heritage’. Who knows Jolie-Pitt kids might all end up
being doctors and engineers helping the world’s needy. Or at
least their parents will educate them to be aware, unlike those
loser Hiltons etc.

Yeah, Brad would bust a button if any of his kids became architects! And Doctors Without Borders, how cool would that be, or a soccer team LOL

178 | COLD HARD MATH | - Hiya CHM, isn’t crazy how people are talking about Z’s hair, personally I think it is cute the way it is, plus my little cousin hair is like Z’s and her mom don’t combed it and groomed it everyday; people should just leave Z’s hair alone, a while ago I saw pictures of Eddie Murphy’s kids and also Will and Jada Smith’s daughter and their hair wasn’t all combed and groomed, and they were out in public.

I just got home from Church and the Cardinals are putting a hurting on the Tigers. Who are you rooting for?

I do love it. I love afros period. I always have. I also like dreadlocks, braids, as well as the kinky twist. Some people are born to just look well with those looks.

I think Zahara looks fantastic and the bangles completes the look.

Guli dear, I was referring to your post #72 and I meant no disrepect. Your post:
Folks I have whined about this shouting on line thing but lately I sort of like it. When I see a post with all caps I just skip it. Do you think we can convince all the haters to do the same, it makes our lives so much easier, these guys are so accommodating and considerate I am sure they will follow the new rule, if you are a hater post in all caps
72 | guli | 10/21/06 4:13 PM
I was referring to your “hater post in all cap rule” and you were being facetious but maybe Canoodle and posters in her position won’t post anymore because they have been automatically tagged as a hater.

On your last post #165, I totally agree with you about how difficult it is to be accepted in this group and your recommendations are spot on.

“I have no idea which post of mine you are talking about since I was watching OSU game all day long, but since you dragged my name in to it?
Here is my response, I am being nice and you should be too…”
165 | guli | 10/21/06 8:56 PM
I thought I was being nice. I certainly had no intention otherwise. I will not dwell on this, other posters probably don’t want read about this anymore. I am sorry for the misunderstanding and please accept my apologies. No offense was ever intended to anyone.

I wanna be your hands

I wanna be whatever

I just wanna be close
I wanna be the hat you put on your head
I wanna be the sheets

I wanna be the skirt

Oh, I just wanna be close

And even if the day turns into night
I will love you by candlelight
And even if he water starts to run over
I’ll be there to put you on my shoulder
And if it’s hard for you to get to sleep
I will sing you a melody,
I wanna feel this way
Till the end of time, cause I pray one day
That you will be mine

See my life’s filled with up and downs
I’m ok when you’re around
And when I’m in a storm
and my nights are cold
Reach out your hands for me to hold
See you’re my queen on a throne

For a song and I can’t wait

Fill you with love

I wanna be a hot summer day in June
I wanna be the smell

I just wanna be close
I wanna be the seed

Thank you for bringing this video here. I am in awe of all that the World Orphan Foundation does and the level of commitment not just Angelina but by all the women featured. Sometimes I lose sight of the most important reason why I am a fan of Angelina Jolie’s and I thank you for reminding me. I am a fan for life.

If you visit the WWO website it will link you to the 2nd Annual Benefit Gala that took place on October 16, 2006. It lists James Haven as Honary Committee Chair. Also Hugh Jackman and wife Deborah were the emcees.

Do you guys remember the report that Brad and Putrid would be acting together again in the movie “Dirty Tricks”? According to the Entertainment Weekly that’s not exactly correct. They said Brad is PRODUCING the movie and being courted to act in it, too. It’s written and directed by the same guy from Nip/Tuck that he’s teaming up with to do the transgender tv show. Personally I hope it happens because I’d love to see Angie beat the snot out of Putrid for even breathing the same air as Brad! Actually from the way it sounds there are going to be so many people in that movie that it’s doubtful that Brad would even have any scenes with Putrid.

RDT - Don’t use the comments box to type your comments. Open Notepad or Write and type comments there and then copy and paste them into the comments box. That’s what I do…for 2 reasons…First that comments box is too damned small and secondly if you copy and paste using the right mouse button the character counter isn’t activated because that’s only activated with a left-click. And, since the character counter doesn’t start your post can be as long as you want and you get around Jared’s character limit! (Er, sorry Jared…you know I luv ya!)

BTW - I’ve got bad eyesight, too. I’m not legally blind, but let’s just say that anytime I’m around and people are griping about how bad their vision is, I just tell them I can top them all and then hand them my glasses to prove it. I can usually win that contest hand’s down.

I don’t understand the big deal if Brad is in a movie “Putrid”…I can’t stand the woman myself because of her arrogance and snooty attitude but I don’t think it’s a big deal if they are in movie together…actually I’m kinda hoping for it. Because I’d love for Paltrow to see Angie visiting Brad everyday on the set and kissing and hugging and basically laughing in her face.
Mu hahahahaha. Ok I’m evil. LOL.

Stardust, no, you’re just human lol At least Angie doesn’t pretend to know everything about London even though like GP, she’s lived there. I remember reading in Glamour a list GP telling Americans how life is like in England. When I showed it to my English friend, she said, “Everything is absolutely wrong!” lol

Jude Law’s in the photo so that must’ve been the Sky Captain premiere. They look friendly enough. Plus, I know they’ve met since Brad and Angie got together, so it’s not like Angie hasn’t seen the two of them interact. I just want Angie to pimp-slap Putrid because I don’t like her! Everytime I see Putrid I just want to push her face in a pile of dog caca!

Paltrow doesn’t bother me. She could live forever or die tomorrow and it would no difference to me. *shrugs*

IIRC Brad first contacted and met Bono in the summer or fall of 2004, so he knew him before the Live 8 event. Besides, even though U2 was at Live 8, they opened the show with Paul McCartney and then left immediately for Italy where they had a show that night, so I doubt they even crossed paths with Brad that day.

Common people…..enough with the voting already. Don’t bring up this trival measurements…it’s an insult to the woman that Angie is. She doesn’t compare herself to anyone. Stop trying to measure her to anyone, yes even Aniston. Love her for who she is not because you think she is better. Stop the freakin voting business

I am more than okay and happy you and I are on the same path. Lurking more than once daily, (feeling like I live on the BAMZS sites), I’ve read pretty much all of your postings and I would never doubt your sincerity. We’re alright. Thanks for your response.

Lynn Campbell @ 10/22/2006 at 12:15 am

Jared, thanks for this cute picture of Brad and Zahara. I think maybe Zahara was asleep right before this picture was taken because of an earlier picture on another thread. She is beautiful and I think she loves being carried by Brad. Angie has given her children the father that she never had and always wanted. It must fill her heart with joy to see Brad with all three children.

What’s up with Black people and hair? I loved my afro, loved it. I love little kids with afros and when I have kids my kids will have afros too because I love them, and yeah I’m Black, but I’m not that great with hair, lol. I mean, I can’t braid for **** and I guess to other Black people this will make me a bad mother but I don’t care. I want my kids to learn to love their hair in its natural state so they won’t be afraid of it when it rains, or when the go swimming, or any other time it doesn’t happen to look perfect. I want my kids to enjoy the texture of it. I never really enjoyed my hair texture until I let it get all wild and nappy and realized my hair is cool just the way it is.

Zahara will have the opportunity to primp like all the other girls as she gets older and I’m sure her hair will be similar to most other Somali girls I know who tend to have curly or wavy fro’s, softer than my own. It will grow and change, but good for her for having the opportunity to love it through all those stages of grow, unlike most Black children who are taught to fear their hair.

Thanks for the info.

Hi BAMZS fans, good morning…someday I might learn to contribute more than just comments, but until then I want to thank the many who take the time to link on stuff just to share:
Amaya, # 128: Thank you for the interviews with Jon Stewart an Angelina. I had not seen either one. She is absolutely adorable and so quick, so friendly. What if Brad and Angelina decide to appear together one day. Wouldn’t it be great if they did on Jon’s show? Ratings would be ridiculous!
#179, thank you so much for the video of The World Orphan Foundation, and Angelina’s speech. If anyone wbo isn’t a fan of Angelina’s would just take a few minutes here tonight and click on that link, you will change your mind, I promise you. She is extraordinary. Please don’t close your mind about her.Give her this one chance…watch that clip. Thank you.
#105, Original jpf…wow! I love your casting of Joaquin as Heathcliffe. Brilliant. He is the essence of brooding. Hate to admit it because I love Johnny Depp to death, but he is like Brad in some ways…too good a guy, even a “goofball” and clown. I might let him do a screentest for the part, however. Never know…
Whoever shared the video to the song “I’ll Fly With You”, thank you so much. Really, really good. I get lost every time I go there with the Brad and Angelina videos. I’m a grown woman. Why am I so taken with them? I never, ever get tired of watching them, especially the dance scene. Sigh……. |

Hahah, no. It’s about Jon and Angie’s friendship, how it came to be and how it is today. The first chapter is how I envision her 3rd appearance on the show would be like…
http://intothegray.blogspot.com/

shut the eff up Ethan. Mind your own damn business! Why don’t you go to the corner and get your little sucking toy ;) and all your pain will fade away.

232 | Amaya

Lol .. first the similarities between Jon and Angie..now Brad and Stephen. Too freaky!

I never saw that show King of the Hill. Since I’ve started to pay attention to Brad and looked through his past..I’ve noticed he has a great sense of humor. His appearance on Conan where he drives off in some random car, his appearance on Jacka s s , and King of the Hill. And there was some random funny youtube video where some people run upto him and rip his sleeves off. I have no idea what it was about ..but the guy likes being part of some pranks and has a good sense of humor about himself.

I never knew Angelina was a fan of King of the Hill. Add that to the long list of things Brad and Angelina have in common. Lol.

Here’s the latest Hollywood joke. Angelina Jolie was so determined to snag the role of Mariane Pearl, the widow of murdered Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, in the film A Mighty Heart that she was even prepared to sleep with the film’s producer … Brad Pitt.

A Mighty Heart was developed by Plan B, the production company Pitt and his former wife, Jennifer Aniston, had together until Ms Jolie appeared on the scene. Aniston got the house in the divorce; Pitt got Plan B, the movie projects and Ms Jolie.

NICE PIECE ON OSCAR MOVIES

That’s one of the things that I love about Brad. He’s able to laugh at himself. In the King of the Hill episode, he plays sucha pig lol

I’m off to bed. Good night all!

Amaya, ah, I see now! Thank you. I loved your writing, you’re terrific. Good night everyone…

By the way, ya’ll, who are so worried about Z’s hair: Angelina’s personal hairstylist, whose name I don’t know now, is a black man. He was featured on Access Hollywood last year. And he said he doesn’t touch Maddox’s mohawk because Angie styles it herself. But I bet he wouldn’t mind offering tips for Z, whether he’s asked or not. And there are so many black hair care books, for all textures. I don’t see why it would be a problem for Angie to style Z’s hair when she’s ready.

shes a cutie! i love that baby and her parents are doing what they can about her hair…she is feed and clothes everyday and thats all that matters, leave the baby’s hair alone…if ya’ll would see is that Z was born with straight hair so i think her parents are getting use to it…

Like I said they are using products to manage it because they are aware that some African hair needs a lot of taking care of in this society…

jeannified @ 10/22/2006 at 2:35 am

Cute, cute, cute…all of them!

“Just because rich westerners are seeking out children in developing countries doesn’t mean that past crimes are being repeated. Madonna may not be seeking a fashion accessory. Neither might Angelina Jolie, who has adopted an Ethiopian child. Maybe they are just trying to help. It’s not fair of us to project our sordid history onto the philanthropy of rich Americans, whose only crime appears to be being rich Americans. ”

” Inter-country adoption gets dreadful abuse. Do-gooders complain about children being removed from their culture. The fact they are also being removed from economic and emotional deprivation seems to be beside the point. What do they think a child actually wants? The right to grow up in an orphanage competing for a scrap of affection or the right to a healthy life in a happy home? I know what I’d do if I visited an orphanage in Malawi. I’d sign over the SSIA and then figure out a way to bring home at least one of those children and hold them and love them. To hell with “culture” and self-flagellation over our imperialist western values. ”

A very good article-the rest of it is:

I recalled reading an interviewfrom this premiere where they asked Angie if she had any advice for Paltry as a new mom (Angie had had Mad for more than a year or so, and GP had just had her first child) - I think Angelina said something like ‘just love them, everything else works itself out from there,’ (paraphrasing).

Personally I think it’s a write of passage of every black woman on the planet to get smacked upside the head for dodging away from your mother as she’s trying to comb your hair. I’m old enough to have feared Sunday nights. Why Sunday nights? Because that was hair-washing and pressing day because you had to go church and then school on Monday. Ahhhh…the memories….many a Sunday night I got whacked on the head after my mother burned my ear while “straightening” my hair. I can hear my mother now…”Your ear wouldn’t have gotten burned if you hadn’t been flinching away from me! Now sit still!”
There’s just nothing quite like the smell of a straightening iron as is sizzled when it hit the Dixie Peach hair grease. Ahhhhh…just thinking about it makes me flinch to this very day. The reason why I always ducked when my mother straightened my hair is because she wasn’t very good at it and I knew I was going to have a few new burn marks on my ears or the back of my neck by the time she finished. I wanted to kiss every member of the Johnson family when they came out with the first affordable relaxer kit. But that brought up a whole new set of problems…my mother then had CHEMICALS to burn me with….

Re: #173 Anna
Thanks for the suggestion. I was using SlimBrowser, then I switched to IE 7, (not IE 6) and still am having the same results. Clicking to “larger” does not increase the font size on the “leave a reply” section. I will try Passing Through’s advice on #201 the next time, however I’m primarily a lurker.

++++++++++++++++

I had to go back to see what you guys were talking about and then I saw First And Last Post mention that I was the so-called “expert”. From what I can tell you guys are trying to make IE display larger fonts…is that right? If so, there’s a couple of ways to do it - if the first method that Anna mentioned doesn’t work, then you can try turning on the Handicap Accessibility feature. On the Start Menu go to Accessories/Accessibility. There are 2 tools you can use - the Magnifier, which basically a big manifying class that you use the mouse to control; and the Accessibility Wizard which will ask you a series of questions to determine what your handicap is and then turn on the features you need to make using the computer easier.

The other thing you can do is to change the screen resolution of your monitor through the Display feature in the Control Panel. Go out to the Desktop and right-click. From the menu select PROPERTIES. When the dialog box opens go to the SETTINGS tab. Toward the bottom of the box on the left you’ll see your screen resolution. The large the number the smaller the display of your screen. So if you’re viewing at 1024X768…that’s going to be smaller than 800X600, etc. I wouldn’t go any lower than 800X600 - especially if you’ve got an LCD monitor. If it’s still not big enough after you’ve set it to 800X600 then go back into the Display dialog box, select SETTINGS again and this time press the ADVANCED button in the lower right-hand corner. Once youre in that dialog box in the upper third of the box under DISPLAY there’s a place to make the font that display larger beneath the icons and overall. It should be set to “Normal” or “96 dpi”. If you click the drop down arrow box there should be another preset size of “120 dipi”. Select that and click OK and then follow the instructions to get out of the dialog box. You’ll then be prompted to reboot. If the font still isn’t big enough for you after the reboot, then go back to the Display settings Advanced box and set the DPI for font to CUSTOM SIZE and select a size for it to be dsiplayed at. 120 is pretty darned big, but if you need to go higher, then do it in 10 point increments. The bad thing about changhing that fonit is that you have to reboot every time you change the font size.

I hope that helps whoever it was tha had the vision problem!

I missed RDT’s post, too! If those 2 programs don’t fix the problem, then I’d suggest paying $30 for a program called Spyware Doctor. It works better than AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy. HOWEVER…when you get spyware there is no one program that cleans everything. You’ll need multiple pieces of software to get your machine back to normal. I’ve found that Spyware Doctor finds the most obscure stuff that Spyboth & Adaware miss, so I usually run Spyware Doctor first and then use the other two program to scan a second time. Spyware Doctor is put out by a company called PC TOols (pctools.com).

Also - If you don’t have an anti-virus, get Symantec AV pronto. I like it better than McAfee because McAfee has a bunch of crap in their suite that you don’t need and is very annoying. Like their firewall software. Symantec will monitor your system for spyware and viruses. However, Symantec can’t clearn a lot of the spyware, but it’ll pop up a message that it’s there or that they were able to quarantine it. Then you can run the Spyware Doctor or any anti-spyware software and clean the machine that way.

BTW - I’m not getting kick-backs from either PC Tools or Symantec. Dammit.

Angelina Jolie Collapses On Set Of ‘A MIghty Heart’
By Tashi Singh
Oct 21, 2006

http://www.postchronicle.com/news/original/article_21245520.shtml

Angelina Jolie was looking a bit frail after the birth of baby Shiloh. According to the National Ledger’s Tina Sims, the pillow-lipped siren took it easy for a few months after the birth.
Angelina Jolie is reportedly back in full effect, traveling the world and making movies with the kiddies in tow.

TNL reports that Life & Style Weekly will print in this week’s edition that the Jolie-Pits had a bit of a scare when Angelina collapsed on the set in India while filming ‘A Mighty Heart.’

The entertainment weekly chronicle’s a series of fainting spells has Brad concerned about her health.

Life & Style has the details:

‘Angelina Jolie was in the middle of filming her latest movie, A Mighty Heart, in Pune, India, when something went wrong. The scene she was shooting on Oct. 10 was an emotional one: In it, her character, Mariane Pearl, learns that her husband, Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, has been killed by terrorists in Pakistan. “Angie literally collapsed while she was filming it,” says an insider close to her. Brad Pitt rushed to her side and called for a break so she could recover, the insider says.

Angie, who was soon able to resume shooting, quickly chalked up the collapse to the intensity of the scene. “Angelina really threw herself into it and was overcome with emotion,” says the insider.’

However the mag reports that it has learned from a Pitt family source that it was actually the third time Angelina had fainted in three days. The friend claims that the first occurrance was on Oct. 8, after Brad and Angelina’s highly-publicized rickshaw ride with son Maddox, 5.

TNL has more:

‘The report details that after returning to their hotel suite at Le Méridien, “Brad said he was talking to Angelina, and the next thing he knew, she’d collapsed onto the floor,” says the family friend.

“She just fainted. He sat her up and got her some water, and she seemed fine, but Brad says it frightened the life out him.”

The insider claims that Angie reassured Brad that she was just reacting to the heat and the crowds during the ride, says the friend, who adds, “But Brad said Angelina fainted the next day while just getting out of bed! She was out for only seconds - but she was out cold.”

Jolie indeed has a lot on her plate and there have been reports that her mother is ill back in the United States and the two are very close.

Ang has also been criticized during the filming for her security’s bullying tactics and even the ridiculous claim that she wasn’t ‘black’ enough to play Mariane Pearl.’

It would seem the stress might be getting to the globetrotting do-gooder vamp.

Brad’s buying another house? Or at least he’s interested in buying one…or so this story claimes…

http://www.radaronline.com/exclusives/2006/10/pitt-eyeing-palm-springs-prize.php

****************

Pitt Eyeing Palm Springs Prize?

NEUTRA SWEET The Kaufmann house in its prime; Pitt (inset)Life may be about to imitate art for Hollywood’s sexiest architecture buff. We hear the Kaufmann House, a Palm Springs landmark designed by Frank Lloyd Wright protégé Richard Neutra (considered to be one of the finest examples of residential modernism in the U.S.) is about to go on the market, and locals are petrified by buzz that Brad Pitt has the inside line.

The house was designed in 1946 for department store magnate Edgar J. Kaufmann, who also owned Wright’s famous Fallingwater House. The current owners, investment tycoon Brent Harris, managing director of PIMCO Bonds, and his wife, Beth Edwards Harris, plan to sell the property soon owing to their pending divorce, according to a Palm Springs real estate insider. Though the house isn’t formally for sale yet, the source said, Pitt has expressed strong interest in buying it.

WRIGHT STUFF The Kaufmann House todayThe neighborhood may hold sentimental value for the actor and his mate, Angelina Jolie: It’s just down the road from another modernist landmark, the Kenaston Residence in Rancho Mirage, scene of the elaborate “fake family” photo shoot the couple conducted with photographer Steven Klein for W in 2005, weeks before the two acknowledged they were dating. Shortly after the spread was published, the Kenaston Residence went on the block for nearly $3 million; Pitt and Jolie were not among the bidders.
Should Pitt get his hands on the Kaufmann House, he’ll join the ranks of former Gucci designer Tom Ford and actress Kelly Lynch, who also own Neutra-designed homes. Prospective neighbors would also include GQ creative director Jim Moore, who recently renovated a house designed by Donald Wexler. He’d also be a stone’s throw from his latest pet project, a $60 million, 200,000-acre futurist resort he’s building with Berlin-based architects Willemeit, Putz, and Krueckeberg.

According to one architecture site, the Kaufmann House is set back from the road behind a high wall, making it relatively paparazzi-proof. Still, anyone who moved to Palm Springs for the desert solitude might consider moving on should the Brangelina crazytrain roll into town.

JJoy…personally I was proud of the Life & Style for showing some inventiveness with this story. When I started reading it I just knew they were going to say the feinting was proof that she’s preggers! Instead they went with the “heat stroke” angle. I’m really proud of them for resisting the obviously and showing a little initiative in taking the story in another direction. I’m still not going to buy the sucker…but at least it wasn’t their usual “Angie’s preggers again!” bullsh!t.

Watch a video of the gala ( warning the Angelina part
is very emotionnal )

Thank you so much. That video is wonderful as wonderful as Angelina.

Life & Style was either making up another story or exaggerating about Angie’s fainting spells. I don’t think she will endanger her children by carrying them when there is a chance that she could faint and drop whoever she is holding. From what I’ve seen, Angie is a very nurturing and protective mother to all her kids and I admire her a lot for that and her many qualities that are truly fascinating. That’s why Brad is so crazy about her.

Zahara has been blessed to go from a baby left in an Orphanage and barely alive at 6 months, to this world famous baby where people debate about her hair. You Go girl. God has a plan for you. B and A will figure her hair out. They have plenty of friends from all races and countries. This is only 1 photo. Give the child time to grow. I am sure all their busy body friends will put in their advice and the next time you see Miss Zahara she will be rocking a new style. Peace to all.

I agree! Great post!

A couple of interesting quotes from from ‘Putrid,’ as some call her, and Paltry as I like to call her….surprisingly enough, though she says some wonderful things about AJ in this interview promoting ‘Sky Captain’……………..

1)Tell us about the relationship between your character and Jude’s character?
Paltrow: There’s a classic dynamic between Sky Captain and Polly. She’s always bossing him around, telling him what to do, and he’s always fed up with her. Polly is immediately unnerved by Franky because she’s very strong, very beautiful, and very together. She has a lot of power in all of the ways that. When Angelina Jolie came to set, it was like a breath of fresh air. She’s so beautiful and professional, she had her son with her and she was such a good mother. She’s serious about what she does. A typical day on set would be spent on this soundstage. It was just a huge cavern of blue. We were surrounded by blue, and there were these orange dots on the wall so that the computer could line up and calculate every thing.

What an idiot….she means ‘calibrate,’ I’m sure.

Anyhoo - oddly enough, though she says some nice things about Angelina (pre-brangelina)up top while promoting ‘Sky Captain,’ when she was asked to comment on Angelina and ‘Brangelina’ a year or so later , she would say this…

“I don’t know ANGELINA at all. We did a tiny little thing together in SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW. But she sure seems intense and very captivating.” GWYNETH PALTROW is intrigued by ex-fiance BRAD PITT’s new love ANGELINA JOLIE. 12/23/05

http://www.contactmusic.com/new/xmlfeed.nsf/mndwebpages/the%20things%20they%20say%20908

I personally think it’s treading the line of being a ‘back-handed’ compliment, as she was much more effusive while promoting the film…where she also commented as if she did indeed know her…knew her enough to say some flattering things anyway. I think suddenly putting Brad Pitt in the mix, as Angelina’s man, and father to her children, made Ms. Paltrow a bit more reticent with the nice adjectives. Jealous much?? LOL

———————————————

Also, this excerpt of hers I found hilarious too - she talks about Brad here, AGAIN. By the way…take a look at the dates…the Sky Captain promotional tour was in the fall of 2004, I just wondered if Brad had every shared his former loathing and history w/ Paltrow while he and Angie were shooting Mr. and Mrs. Smith because it sounds as if they were shooting MAMS concurrently with AJ promoting this film. I can just imagine Brad sharing with Angie, and joking about GP’s silly ass.

By the way - check this clip, and what Paltrow says about Brad…does she sound hella snobby here, ridiculing her surfer boyfriend - then discussing Brad…and excuse me, but WTF does “Brad’s upbringing” have to do with anything??

(Excerpt)…This is to ignore her romantic history. She is, she’s said, ‘very sexual’, and accounts of recent photo shoots suggest she and Martin can’t keep their hands off each other. Her first love was a surfer called Mike who was ‘really dim. Oh my God! He was really sweet - but he’d never read a book.’ And Brad Pitt, to whom she was engaged, came from the rougher side of the tracks. Judging by her rather opaque utterances, it seems that golden bond was sundered because she and Pitt couldn’t enjoy full love and full careers. Is that a fair summary?

‘I don’t think it’s quite fair. It was probably because I was young and… I just wasn’t ready for marriage. Nor was he the right person for me.’

Which means?

‘I just…’ There’s a long pause. ‘We were raised very differently and it was just, you know, a wrong coming together. And at that point, I did want to work a lot.’

267 | Anna | Thanks for posting that article. Someone mentioned that ‘adopting Africans’ is the new thing. Personally, I am glad it is. David’s father (Madonna new son) said some thing that were quite heartfelt. Although David is not exactly an orphan as one parent is alive, but what parent wants to see their child suffer and potentially die? Especially when someone wants to give them a loving home. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt. NO ONE adopts a child for publicity reasons or as a fashion accessory. I think that is just MEAN. Publicity comes and goes, is either good or bad and is not that consistent. Well, expect for B&A who are always in the news and gossip tabs for something or the other. I wonder what lies they will tell with this picture. - Brad is taking the kids from Angie and didn’t have the chance to comb little Z’s hair….LOL

Yep, I lived through that too, only she used Queen Bergemont. My problem, according to my mother, was that I was tenderheaded and I sweated too much. H$ll, I sweated because I knew I was going to get burnt, and then yelled at. She always tried to press it to the brick, but it never really worked out. The only painfree pressing I got was done by someone else and did not dare tell my mother about it.

Fortunately, she was leery of chemicals, so I didn’t have to endure that. I went to her friend to get a relaxer and again, it never realy worked out. Not until I went to another beautician did I find out that my hair could’ve been blown straight. I do relaxers, but it’s rarely painful or traumatic because my hair is now in the hands of a professional. And the best part about not having my mother in my hair anymore is that I can sweat, get caught in the rain, and let it airdry after a shampoo.

Here’s hoping that Z’s hair will be cared for by non-psychotic!

Karen.Give it a rest! We all know you are an ANUSton fan! Bigtime! Now scram, will yah!

Great article on Ellen Barkin….

A stormy sea of love
RUTH LA FERLA

YES, A SOFA IS FOR LOUNGING. BUT if you’re Ellen Barkin, you work it like a prop. In her trailer on the Warner Brothers lot, where she is filming Ocean’s Thirteen, Barkin settles into its cream-coloured leather cushions, shifting by degrees from an upright posture to a slouch, then kicking off her Louboutin slingbacks and sliding into full recline.

Interviews, Barkin announces, are an exercise in self-examination. “They force me to really think something through.”

Pensive and chatty by turns, she speaks with a candour more commonly heard on an analyst’s couch. She has plenty to talk about: the new film, in which she is the female lead opposite Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and George Clooney, and which reunites her with Al Pacino, her co-star in Sea of Love, the 1989 thriller that was a career-making showcase for her sex appeal.

Then there is her personal life, which has been turned inside out with the abrupt end of her marriage to the financier Ronald Perelman in January.

The breakup was a gift to the tabloids: Perelman’s lawyers surprised her with the news that he was seeking a divorce, and he had security guards stand by while she moved out of their regal New York townhouse. Much of the six-year marriage between the billionaire and the movie star seemed to play out in public because of the couple’s prominence, though its essence remained a mystery.

Now Barkin, 52, has chosen an equally public denouement by putting up for auction the extravagant jewellery Perelman lavished on her. Parting with more than 100 pieces valued at 15 million (£8m) represents a symbolic and literal purging of the union.

“These are just not memories I want to wear every day,” Barkin says.

The trove, to be sold at Christie’s in New York’s Rockefeller Center on Tuesday, includes a 32-carat apricot diamond ring that Perelman, who is the chairman of Revlon, gave Barkin weeks before their divorce; a pair of emerald and gold cuffs designed for the Duchess of Windsor, valued at up to 80,000 (£42,000); an emerald necklace that once belonged to billionaire tobacco heiress Doris Duke that could fetch as much as 350,000 (£185,000); and a selection of pieces by the cult Parisian jeweller JAR.

Only 80 to 90 JAR pieces are created each year. Francois Curiel, the chairman of Christie’s Europe, says: “When you have 17 pieces of JAR in an auction, it’s an event.”

For Barkin, the sale puts an end to her relationship with Perelman, whose wish to be single again caught her unawares, she says. A divorce granted by a Manhattan court a few weeks later left her with 20 million (£10.6 million) under the terms of their prenuptial contract.

That fortune notwithstanding, the rupture left Barkin feeling raw. Her former husband’s behaviour “was shocking,” she says. “What I thought was a commonality was a very different bond.”

Barkin say a confidentiality agreement prevents her from discussing aspects of the marriage. But in an interview meant to focus on the auction of her jewellery, she did not hold back her feelings about the break-up. Perelman, through a spokeswoman, declined to respond or otherwise comment.

Barkin says the marriage was founded on genuine affection. “I loved Ronald Perelman. I can say that unequivocally.” Perelman, she suggests, had struck a cooler bargain. In his mind, she says, “I was an accessory, being accessorised, the perfect one - age-appropriate, the mother of two children, successful in her own right.”

As an actress, Barkin was known for steamy performances in movies such as The Big Easy and This Boy’s Life. Yet she was also the attentive mother of two children by fellow actor Gabriel Byrne - Jack and Romey - and projected an aura of matronly respectability. “I was an actress who for 20-some years had never left her children once to do a movie,” Barkin says. “That looked good.”

Perelman’s previous wives include the Democratic fundraiser and society beauty Patricia Duff.

“And you know, I wasn’t a bimbo,” Barkin says, less with rancour than regret. “I was a good get.” She says Perelman did not want her away from his side for the months it takes to make a movie, so except for small parts, she put her career on hold.

“When I met Ronald Perelman, I wasn’t going to travel,” she says. “That made it more difficult to work, but that was kind of fine with me.”

Some 18 months ago, Barkin accepted a cameo in Ocean’s Twelve, requiring her to spend 36 hours on a film set in Chicago. Her part was later cut, but it caused a rupture in the marriage. “That had enormous repercussions,” she says. “After that cameo I moved out of the house with my children. So it didn’t go well. It never went smoothly when I worked.”

But the couple were reconciled, and she moved back in. And if things were sometimes rocky, she was nevertheless stunned by the suddenness of the break-up. “You don’t spend years with someone and they’re just Photoshopped out of your life.”

She sees a paradox: Perelman was attracted to her because she was a movie star, but objected when she wanted to keep making films. “It’s that old thing. You are drawn to a person for certain reasons, and then they try to change you,” she says.

Single again, she has started a film production company with her brother, George Barkin, and plans to channel the proceeds of the jewellery sale into that.

Friends say Barkin is resilient. Putting the baubles of the marriage up for auction is a way of bouncing back, says designer Diane von Furstenberg. “That was very healthy,” adds von Furstenberg. “Now she can be herself.”

Barkin has lost almost ten pounds since the divorce, and looks girlishly slender in a black Rick Owens T-shirt and Yohji Yamamoto trousers, swinging a leg elastically over the back of the sofa in her trailer.

Her expression, too, is in animated contrast to the fixed mask worn by many women in Hollywood. She has a habit of scrunching her features - lips compressed, eyes squeezed to slits - buying time to reflect before answering even innocuous questions.

That signature expression is in place even while describing her jewellery, much of which she chose herself. Many of the pieces, such as a seven-strand natural pearl necklace and a 15-carat diamond ring, are chunky and audacious. They are “unapologetic, I guess,” Barkin says, “And I wasn’t precious about wearing my precious jewels.”

She routinely wore a 16.94-carat diamond pendant, valued at 600,000 to 800,000 (£317,000 to £424,000), in bed. Several years ago she was seen at New York fashion shows, absently fidgeting with a huge diamond ring.

Except for a diamond ring given to her by Joel Rosenthal, the designer of JAR and a friend, she is parting with all the jewellery from the marriage, eager to shed the image of a gem-freighted trophy wife. “I am not a fantasist,” she says. “And certainly, I was never the little girl who dreamt about some rich guy buying her jewellery.”

THE YOUNGER OF TWO CHILDREN IN A lower-middle-class Jewish family, she grew up in Queens. She has boasted in other interviews of fistfights with gangs of girls in the neighbourhood. “I certainly wasn’t a thug,” she says. “But my mother worked, my father worked. You learned how to take care of yourself. I was as tough as I needed to be.” Something of that scrappiness surfaced in her 20s, during stints as a downtown waitress. “I was feisty, sure,” she says, unabashed. “If somebody didn’t leave a tip for a waitress and that waitress wasn’t me, I would follow them out the door, yelling, ‘Was something wrong with your service?’ ”

Barkin was thorny on movie sets as well, known to flounce off in tears when her lines didn’t suit her, but fiercely intent, those who worked with her say, on giving every part her best. Her ferocity led Gordon Cotler, the writer and a producer of a TV movie in which she appeared, to predict in 1993, in a letter to the New York Times, that “if some producer didn’t strangle her first, she would be a star”.

Despite memorably sexy roles, and a reputation as an actor’s actor, Barkin never attained the A-list stature of Michelle Pfeiffer or Julia Roberts. Since marrying Perelman she has taken on only a handful of bite-size parts, notably in the 2004 film Palindromes, in which she played the anguished mother of a wayward teenage girl. She did not fight to land her latest role, as a curtly efficient assistant to Pacino in Ocean’s Thirteen. “I’ve never been ambitious,” she insists. “I’m a big believer in being in the right place at the right time.”

She ascribes her recent career upturn to luck and the generosity of the film’s director, Steven Soderbergh, and one of its producers, Jerry Weintraub. She was sitting on the beach at a friend’s vacation house after her divorce, mulling over her own contribution to the failure of her marriage, when the phone rang. “It was Jerry asking, ‘How are you doing?’ I said, ‘Not so good’,” she recalls, her eyes welling. “He said: ‘You’re going to feel better in about 30 seconds. You’re the female lead in Ocean’s Thirteen.’”

• Ocean’s Thirteen is released in June next year.

Don’t know anything about her type of hair, but I think Z’s looks nice, fluffy and natural.

You’ll probably think I’m being ignorant, but is it really necessary to braid or straighten her hair, either with irons or chemicals? So long as it is healthy and shinny, should not hair be left to its own natural flow, with a good monthly cut?

Z she’s cute!

I think they are new. The above picture in this thread was when Brad and Angie returned from Goa. According to the date (Oct.19 Thursday) in the link you provided Brad and Angie were in Jaipur. Maybe the pictures are from the Japanese ad Brad was shooting there. BAMZS are currently in Jodhpur.

mornin everyone!

I lurk here on many an occasion, and have come to know some of the regulars, or rather the siides of themselves they chose to present, online

But, I have to say how shocked I am about the veiled criticism of how Brad and Ange care for their daughter. I guarantee that if her adoptive parents were black, and Z had the same said style in the photo, no-one here would behave like they have a higher authority over Z’s parents with regard to her hair…….

This is thinly veiled discrimination, suggesting that because they’re white they aren’t good enough for Z’s haircare than all of you.Bloody ridiculous crap!

Leave them alone……

As for Guli and the regular who hid behind the name CAPS LOCK………I’m sorry, but how low can you go, creating such an underhanded bitchy fuss about a poster who dared to write in Caps - No insults or any offensive content was in the Canoodle posts, but you succeeded in getting rid of her via victimisation. I agree — Madonna has two children already, and knows what
being a parent is all about. She has been saying she wants
another child for two years now, and having been active in AIDS
charities for 20 years she is well aware of African AIDS orphans.
Does Madonna do anything on a whim, anyway? She has about as
careful and planned a life as anyone could!

As for having a parent still alive, how many babies and children up
for adoption in the U.S. have living parents?!?!? HELLOOOO!!! If
a child is available for adoption, it’s because the child was put
there, and the parent, if still alive knows he/she cannot take care
of the child. In fact, they even think an orphanage is better than
what they can provide, so you can imagine how thrilled David’s
father must be that his son hit the jackpot. A lot of these do-
gooders are worrying over nothing and not thinking it through.

Mia Farrow must be laughing at how adopting overseas babies is
now considered a trendy thing to do! Anyone able to give a baby
or child a better life and is willing to do so should be encouraged,
not ridiculed.

I have been wondering the same thing. I will probably sound ignorant too, and I am.. I know nothing of how to care for hair for black people. My own experience as a child was having my mom shampoo my hair with baby shampoo every Saturday night, running a comb through it and that was it.. it dried on it’s own. She might put some barrets in it.. maybe.. or put it in a pony tail.. sometimes. On rare special occasions I might sleep in sponge rollers to give my hair some curl. I just cant imagine having regular rituals such as some have described. I love how BAMZS fans come from different countries and cultures, races and experience. I enjoy learning about people different from myself. But I will admit to wondering why all that straightening and ironing and chemicals and braiding are preferable to a natural style. I mean no offense, just curious. I hope I havent offended anyone by my question.

becca…How dare you say that. I known some nice loving couple & their kids went to do drugs & one attempted suicide. Shame on you & Aniston fans. That is why I do not like people like you…so pesimmistic & negative.

I think becca’s post, #312 answers your question. She probably lives at those sites.

Becca’s post just shows how delusional some posters are. Only a person who is blinded by hate would think that Brad and Angie are anything but wonderful parents. Just from pics of them and interviews and also from quotes of people who know the family, you dont have to be a fan of this couple to realize this. But it does take a hater to ignore the obvious truth. Brad and Angie are and will always be, wonderful, loving, caring, parents.

Love the little bangles.I could not not get my little girl to wear them or any jewlry when she was that age.Shes eight now and i can barely get her to keep earings in.But she has a thing for getting her nails done. Shes a total clothes horse and has been ,i kid you not since she was about two.I to ashamed to go into the arguments i have had whith a todler about what outfit to where.Sometimes my only solice was that i could always say she was clean(smile).
As for her hair shes a girl depends on which way the wind is blowing that day.

Good Afternoon.

Princess Zee is adorable. Loving her bangles. A girl after my own heart. Her baby hair? It doesn’t really matter what the style as this hair will be barely be a memory when she is 5, 6 or 15, 16 years of age. As long as it’s lightly groomed daily that’s all that matters because through experiences, babies seem to manage to get all kinds of doo dads in their hair. Her silky curly afro is perfect for her IMO. It just has to be evened out. As far as chemicals, no chemicals should ever be used on the head of a child under the age of 14. Any self-respecting stylist will tell you that. I hope Zahara will always keep her hair natural( without chemicals, like relaxers or hair color). She & Angelina should be able to manage without that stuff. She should stay away from cornrow braids and stilk to plaits with barettes if she wants to do “braids”.

Everyone in this family has an individual physical beauty that is like no other. They each look very different but are all beautiful. Physical beauty comes in many forms and this family is a perfect example of this.

Another problem for Madonna @ 10/22/2006 at 12:24 pm

LIPUNGA, Malawi - The father of the Malawian boy Madonna plans to adopt added a fresh twist to the saga, saying he never intended his son to be adopted by the pop diva, but only for her to raise the child on his behalf.

In an interview with Reuters Television in his home village of Lipunga on Saturday, Yohane Banda said Madonna asked that she be able to raise his one-year-old son on his behalf, rather than that the child should become her own.

Banda’s statement is a major shift from his earlier remarks last week when he railed against human rights groups that have gone to court to stop Madonna from adopting his son David.

“Had they told us that Madonna wanted to adopt my son and make him her own son, we would not have agreed to that,” Banda said in his local language of Chichewa.

“It would have been better for him to continue staying at the orphanage because I see no reason why my child should be given away forever when I can feed him,” he said, speaking at his village of Lipunga near the Zambia border late on Saturday.

Madonna, 48, has angered rights groups with her plan to adopt young David Banda, who left his native country on Tuesday last week for the entertainer’s home in London after she was granted temporary adoption rights by Malawi authorities.

The High Court in Lilongwe will on Friday start hearing the case lodged by the Human Rights Consultative Committee (HRCC), an alliance of 67 human rights groups, which argues current Malawi laws forbid international adoption, even by celebrities.

Banda told Reuters he signed papers he could not understand, but government officials assured him that the agreement was similar to what he had with the orphanage — to nurture and educate the boy but not take him away for good.

“I cannot read and write so I relied on what the (government) officials told me that the papers said Madonna would look after the child the way the orphanage planned to educate him and then he comes back to me,” Banda said.

Asked if he had any copies of the agreements he signed with Madonna, Banda said: “I am still waiting to get my copies.”

He said the copies were still in the hands of the government officials who mediated the agreement. Banda said he would wait to see them before deciding what action to take after consultations with his mother and other family members.

Neither government officials nor Madonna’s spokeswoman in London were immediately available for comment.

Mother died of malaria
Banda said he gave the boy to the orphanage mainly for medical care and breast-feeding after the boy’s mother died of malaria days after giving birth to him.

“We sent this child to an orphanage because at one month we could not look after him, we did not have a health center nearby and the orphanage was the ideal place for him,” he said.

The American singer, who is married to British film director Guy Ritchie, hopes to make David a brother to her 10-year-old daughter Lourdes and son, Rocco, who is six. She has denied cutting corners to speed the adoption process.

David will stay abroad with Madonna for 18 months and be monitored by Malawi officials before final approval can be given for him to officially join her family.

Banda said people did not give him a chance to explain his position better because the media was only interested in knowing about David and Madonna.

“What we agreed with Madonna was that she looks after my child until he finishes school, becomes independent and comes back home to us,” Banda said.

Everyone in this family has an individual physical beauty that is like no other. They each look very different but are all beautiful. Physical beauty comes in many forms and this family is a perfect example of this.

Jared can you get the new pictures please.

Celebrities need to know that when it comes to adoption, their wealth can be a big liability. I have seen some adoptions in the States going sour, when the biological moms realized how wealthy the adoptive parents were, when they saw them in person. They just had either genuine reversal of hearts, or just trying to extort more money.

Wow, finally a confession. I will save this gem for possible future use. Hope I will never have to. ;)

e the Madonna adoption situation…

I think someone has very obviously gotten to the father, and maybe assured him if he opposes Madonna, he’ll get his fleeting 15 minutes and perhaps some monetary payments as well. It’s too bad.

What I don’t understand is why Madonna didn’t get this squared away prior to making move ONE. It makes no sense. Rather than showing the world how adoption can be of aid in perilous circumstances it appears that Madonna may be making it look like a fiasco, which could discourage people.

All I know is, considering she didn’t handle it as she should have, I don’t want Oprah trying to interject Angelina and Brad into this mix. As a ‘friiii-eeeend’ (said in a disguzting sing-songy way) to the shaky sit-com hack, I’m sure she’d try to get her digs in.

I’m having problems with seeing new posts and its getting frustrating so I think I will sign off for now. Besides, it’s my day off and I need to give my brain a rest [insert snide comment here].

Toodles.

I am also surprised that Madonna, with all her resources, let herself into this mess. But, in a sense, I think it’s good to see the rough side of adoption as well, so people who want to adopt, have more realistic expectations.

Is there a way to save this confession?

See, this person’s one and only goal is to bait BAMZSers, and I don’t see why time and time again someone always falls into the trap of answering her, trying to reason with her, and then she comes back with a smart alecky response, or changes her name and comes back with a baiting response, and that’s the reason why the threads go downhill. And then the more reasonable or sane people who post usually lose their stomach for such hatred/nastiness and stop posting. If we just IGNORE them, there will be no deterioration of the threads.

Hi all. How’s everyone today?

I read the Madonna story and this is the part that bothers me about what David’s father said:

“Had they told us that Madonna wanted to adopt my son and make him her own son, we would not have agreed to that,” Banda said in his local language of Chichewa.

“It would have been better for him to continue staying at the orphanage because I see no reason why my child should be given away forever when I can feed him,” he said, speaking at his village of Lipunga near the Zambia border late on Saturday.

—————————-

So is he saying that if it had been anyone else besides Madonna who wanted to adopt David , it would be okay? And didn’t he give his son to the orphanage because he couldn’t feed him and take care of him? But now he wants to take care of his child? And if he’s saying that he made an agreement with Madonna to let her raise his child but that David would return to his country, then why is he saying that he doesn’t want Madonna to adopt his child? Either he wanted Madonna to adopt David, or just raise him but not adopt him, or not take him away from the orphanage at all. He seems to be claiming all three of these options. There seems to be a lot holes in this story.

“Had they told us that Madonna wanted to adopt my son and make him her own son, we would not have agreed to that,” Banda said in his local language of Chichewa.

*****

MSNBC said the David’s two older siblings died in that orphanage. So this father would prefer his son died rather than be adopted. I sorry but that does not seem right.

I think Madonna’s problem started when she allowed herself to be filmed on her journey to adopt a child and to give money to a charity. When most celebs adopt, we don’t hear about it until the baby at home with his/her new family.

150 | first and last post | Thanks for this. I was thinking this as well. I work with a girl who is legally blind, and we have to blow up textbooks to about 3 times their size, and she still has her nose on the page! I think in general we need to be a little less jumpy. On the other hand, I almost dread coming here these days because of all the negativity, so it’s not surprising that some “assume”.

I’m lost on the hair thing. I’m “hair retarded” in any ethnicity. I love the bracelets, and think in general Zee looks adorable as usual. I love the way she holds on to her daddy.

Thank you to whoever posted the WWO gala video earlier. I had tears streaming down my face as I watched that video, I did not realize that my 13 year old daughter was behind me all that time. At the end of the video when Angie said she will be back the next year and the year after that, my daughter started to applaud. When Angie broke down about how Zahara could have died if it wasn’t for Dr Aronson, my heart went out to both women. But yet here we are, more concerned about hair than the fact that this little girl is alive, healthy and loved dearly. Don’t we as black people just have our priorities right.
If Z had died in the orphanage, who will be worrying about her hair, who is worrying about the hair of the other children that are still in the orphanage, or are waiting for some famous white person to adopt and then we can lecture them on how to manage black.

We dog the haters for having misplaced priorities, why play into their hands.

Z is in good hands. I am just thankful to Abgie and Brad, that they have enough love in their hearts to share their life and wealth. and give these children the kind of lifestyle that most of us can only dream about.

Z looks adorable, afro or not.

179 | from bradfans… WOW - Thank you for posting the link to the WWO Gala. I had tears in my eyes through much of her speech. Too bad we can’t FORCE people who think she’s phoney to watch it. Man, when she talked about almost losing Zahara, I lost it.

189 | Passing Through | As usual my friend, you are a breath of fresh air. ITA with my hair at the moment too - stacking wood, sweaty, my hair is a MESS! And you should see what a trip to the ocean does to my hair! I don’t even have to get it wet - it just goes POOF! Y’all think that Carol’s Daughter stuff would work on white hair? ;)

Amen Cher,I too Just saw the video and was really moved by it. It really reminds you of just what is important in this life, and it certianly is not Zee’s hair style, and by the way I for one Iam okay with it, not that it matters, because you know what Zee is Angie and Brads baby and Iam sure they will do what is best for their child.

Alero, great observation and point. I too think this is where Madonna messed up and allowed how she might be perceived to cloud her judgement. I think she was too concerned at how it would look just adopting a baby, having never set foot in Africa. So she decides to go and make a big production out of it - which in and of itself isn’t a bad thing…but Madonna wnating what she wants, NOW..had to do it all in one fell swoop. Hence the mess-up. Now we’ll have plenty of people, making comments and jokes and snide remarks about adopting children, period. That’s the sad part. We didn’t know Brad & Angelina had adopted Zee, until they were back in the states for a few weeks, and Zee was in the hospital in NYC where Dr. Aronson was taking care of her.

I do think that someone got to the father too. However, I don’t like Madonna and the way that, in years past, she manipulated things like sexuality and religion to her advantage. But I’d like to think that she came from a good place when she sought custody of David; none of us knows what kind of parent she is. It is probably good that she kept the ins and outs of her relationship with Lourdes and Rocco out of the spotlight, given how her disclosures of past relationships with lovers went.

I don’t know what to think, although I think it’s cruel for outside parties to manipulate and interfere at this point. It feels like those tabs who allegedly found Zahara’s grandmother- they tried to stir up #### back then, despite Z’s precarious physical condition, which coincidentially, was during the public’s intense disapproval of BA’s relationship. Again, it is not good to sacrifice a child’s well-being to settle a score with an unliked adoptive parent.

Trust me, it’s not as big of a deal as it used to be. Back in the day, when I was little, some black people were absolute Nazis when it came to their children’s appearence. It had a lot to do with upbringing and the idea that their children was an absolute reflection of their child rearing. Some of us who were tortured under that regime will have a more lax approach to their children’s hair and to their general appearence.

Madonna’s problem wasn’t the charity or the filming. It was choosing Malawi as the place to adopt. They have a history of not allowing many adoptions to foreigners period. Famous or not. If she wanted to have a baby for attention and publicity she could have easily picked a place where adoption is quick and easy.

Thank you for your post.

392 | CLINIQUA : ITA. Madonna went to Malawi with a whole entourage, and a filming crew. There was every intention to broadcast what she was doing to the whole world. She may have every good intention, but I believe, she also wanted publicity for it.

Whereas, when Angie and Brad went to Ethiopia, they didnt bring anyone with them except maybe their bodyguard and assistant. And they only announced it when they got Z already.

The thing is, of all the babies/kids there, why does she have to pick the one where the father is still alive. And why did the media had access to the Baby’s father?

Well, anyway, lets hear what she going to say in Ophah show.

This is a long one! It comes from Digital Spy:

A celebrity adopted a child from the same African orphanage as Madonna - but gave the youngster back two months later. Home of Hope director Rev Thomson Chipeta, who refused to name the star, is now concerned that the children he cares for will suffer because of the backlash following Madonna’s decision to adopt Malawi orphan David Banda. “We had a phone call from supporters in the UK on Monday asking what was going on,” he told the News of the World. “I am concerned the reaction may harm the work we are doing. A lot of children are going to suffer because of this. Who knows why they picked David Banda from all the other children? “Another very famous person took a child from us for adoption and brought it back a few months later.” Martin Lowdon, who runs the Malawi Orphan Fund, added: “We regret the fact that there has been so much publicity about one orphan when there are still large numbers of orphans in need of welfare provision.”

CLINIQUA…Very good point about the world not knowing any details or specifics about Zahara’s adoption until it was over and they were home. There was still a flurry if you remember about her having a mother, even pictures of the girl who claimed to be, but it was ignored pretty much and finally disappeared. I have such respect for Brad and Angelina, I know they would haven nothing to do with anything not upstanding.

Regarding the article about Gwyneth Paltrow speaking about the differences between her and Brad being related to “his upbringing” and background…what exactly was Chris Martin’s background? Is he royalty of some sort? I thought he was just an ordinary guy&#
