AddictedtoBAMZS — Nope, it’s not showing in Chicago yet. I’ve checked and checked — I guess it will show on November 10. Actually, it was part of the Chicago Film Festival and was shown in a theater last week, but I had been sick most of the week so did not get a chance to even think of watching it. Will do it when it gets a nationwide release on Nov. 10 (I believe).

that aside, angie wanted kids with BBT, but he balked. she adopted Madd as their relationship crumbled and just assumed that she’d never find a guy good enough to be his father and end up adopting all her kids. hence all the talk about lovers and yada yada. along comes braddy and hey! turns out he’s an amazing candidate to be Madd’s dad (he loves kids, he’s hot for her, she’s hot for him…), they adopt zahara together and since they’ve already created a family and made a commitment to each other, why not have a biological child together, too? so both angie & brad get everything they want through each other. at breakneck speed, no less.

Well, I think it’s less that they actually hit on her - but more that she really makes them see the realities of their situations. That they’ve essentially had to pay women to be in their lives (and I’m sorry - CZJ would NOT be w/ Michael Douglas if he was a 6th grade math teacher….but I have no problems thinking Angie would STILL be with Brad if he were a dirt poor relief worker in the Sudan, ya know what I’m sayin’??) - these two geezers know this. I understand what you guys are saying and I thought of that, too, but my basic problem with this quote is that Inarritu is talking publicly about something that Brad himself wouldn’t address. I just seriously doubt that he would say something like that when Brad has been so careful about not addressing the divorce publicly.

I can easily see Inarritu making the comment that Brad was falling in love with Angie during the filming of Babel. What I can’t see is him saying that Brad ” fell instantaneously and passionately in love with Angie”. Doesn’t that imply that Brad fell for her in January 2004 and not April 2005 or even January 10, 2005, the day AFTER the separation was announced? And that Brad got out of the marriage with X because of he fell for Angie and not for any of the reasons we KNOW existed before he met Angie?

I personally think Brad is fine with other people who he likes, knows and trusts - sharing their observations. George has done it to a certain extent. Doug, his brother has done it. Marcheline did it in People. So I think the very fact that Brad shared what he did with Alejandro the director, may have given AI a certain carte blanc in discussing Brad’s performance and the process of how it came to be. I believe the pregnancy may have been planned. Pitt was in Calgary in Aug. 2005 filming Jesse James, and it was widely publicized that Ange and the kids came to visit him one weekend - they stayed in a rented cabin just outside of Calgary. Nine months later came Shiloh. As a Canuck Brangelina fan, I like to think that we may have had some contribution to bringing The Chosen One to light.

Life & Style Weekly will print in this week’s edition that Pitts had a bit of a scare when Angelina collapsed on the set in India while filming A Mighty Heart.

‘Angelina Jolie was in the middle of filming her latest movie, A Mighty Heart, in Pune, India, when something went wrong. The scene she was shooting on Oct. 10 was an emotional one: In it, her character, Mariane Pearl, learns that her husband, Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, has been killed by terrorists in Pakistan,¡± a source was quoted by the Post Chronicle

“Angie literally collapsed while she was filming it,” he added.

Brad Pitt rushed to her side and called for a break so she could recover, the insider says.

Angie, who was soon able to resume shooting, quickly chalked up the collapse to the intensity of the scene.

“Angelina really threw herself into it and was overcome with emotion,” says the insider.’

However the magazine reports that it has learnt from a Pitt family source that it was actually the third time Angelina had fainted in three days. The friend claims that the first occurrence was on Oct. 8, after Brad and Angelina’s highly-publicized rickshaw ride with son Maddox, 5.

‘The report details that after returning to their hotel suite at Le M¨¦ridien, “Brad said he was talking to Angelina, and the next thing he knew, she’d collapsed onto the floor,” says the family friend.

“She just fainted. He sat her up and got her some water, and she seemed fine, but Brad says it frightened the life out him.”

The insider claims that Angie reassured Brad that she was just reacting to the heat and the crowds during the ride, says the friend, who adds, “But Brad said Angelina fainted the next day while just getting out of bed! She was out for only seconds - but she was out cold.” (ANI)

…am I the only one who thinks it’s a mistake for madonna to go on Oprah? First of all, I’ve come to the conclusion that Oprah doesn’t want any other female star totally upstaging her in certain areas - in particular, being seen as more philanthropic/giving/heartfelt as she (hence the reason why she chose Team Aniston over Tema Jolie, as Aniston is no threat to any of that). So I get the feeling that Oprah may give Madge a hard time, and not be nearly as effusive and comforting and supporting of Madonna in her time of need, as she is/was of the do-nothing ‘charity is not my thing’ TV sit-com hack.

Mizz Oprah HAS to reign supreme.

I hope Madge knows what she’s in for. Because I don’t think Oprah is interested in her mini-van suburban heartland audience ‘understanding’ Madonna at all.

You have to remember - if they were to understand and feel compassion and be moved, they’d then want to know WHY Oprah isn’t doing the same thing and adopting a child with her BILLIONS.

So, Madonna may have made a huge mistake going on ol’ Oprah.

Actually he made more then that. He made about 17million for just starring in the movie and then get got his back end deal of the gross profits including DVD rentals. Pitt made over and still counting about 150 -175 million dollars for Smith.

That movie has grossed close to 500 million dollars worldwide and that’s just the boxoffice sales

The Paps were a nightmare for this family but X17 is trying to spin it as a PR nightmare for the Pitts. The fact is that most of the rumors, car accident and confrontations can be attributed to the paps. I am sure that the Pitts will be glad when they wrap up the movie in India. I also hope that they found time to enjoy their stay and show the kids around the country. Babel is getting better reveiws than Flags of Our Father, another Oscar Contender according to Rotten Tomatoes. I will definitely see it this Weekend.

Babel isn’t a big budget movie so I have no doubt that it will make back its budget and more. I know very little about how Oscar nominations works, so if others have more knowledge about the subject then please educate me. What I think I know is that box office can play a part in what and who gets nominated. For example, Flags of Our Fathers (Clint Eastwood) opened this weekend to a less than enthusiastic box office even though its reviews are pretty good - great. Now this isn’t to say that Flag of Our Fathers won’t get a Best Picture nod but it will have a better chance if the box office receipts become higher. Same thing with Babel.

Because if he got 20% of the gross, then that would mean he got his cut off the top and then the studio paid all the movie’s production and marketing expenses AFTER Brad got his cut. And we all know that no movie production company is gonna go for that kind of a deal.

Also, you said it was an “either/or” deal. According to most sources he took the $20MIL salary up-front. If that was the case, then there was no 20% of the profits. Either way, Brad’s take is not going to come out to $100-175MIL. That would put him in Tom Cruise territory and if Brad had made that kind of money off M&MS it would’ve been reflected in the Forbes Power Rankings for this year and they listed his income at $25MIL for the period of June 2005 to June 2006.

Yes it is. You have to take into consideration all the expenses that come out of that $750MIL. Not only are there production and marketing costs - for both the theatrical release and the DVD release, but there’s also the fact that they had 2 different releases of the DVD and marketed them separately. Then you also have to factor in the money that the theaters get paid for showing the movie.

It has been said that 1/3 of the cost of a movie is spent on marketing the movie. That’s $250MIL right there. It cost $110MIL to make M&MS. Now you’re up to $360MIL. I’m sure there are other costs involved, but those are the major ones, but let’s say that there’s another $50MIL in incidental costs (and that’s a conservative guestimate). That puts the total costs at $410MIL and makes a profit of $340MIL. If Brad’s cut of the profits was 20%, that would be $68MIL for him and $278MIL for the studio.

But I still seriously doubt that a studio would give an actor with his track record for domestic releases a deal for 20% of the profits. Yes, Brad is bigger overseas than in the US and that’s where the movie made the most money in theatrical release. BUT it’s never a sure thing with Brad. Tom Cruise? For some reason people will go see that midget in anything he puts out, so yeah, he got a percentage of every movie he made.

There are many non-celebrities that adopt from overseas as well. I am far from an expert in this area, and many of the regulars here are far better versed in it than myself, but I think it is mainly because it is easier and there is far less red tape. Even non-celebs have grown very frustrated with the US adoption systems. It is not set up to make it easy or rewarding for either the adoptive parent or the child. Add celebrity to that mix and you get a double whammy. It could take years to get a child from the US system. Angie give money to US children’s charities, and she and Brad have their foundation that they have started. I am sure there will be US children that will benefit from it. Plus, you never know….Brad and Angie might already have their names on a list somewhere to adopt a US child, considering it can take quite a long time. You should give them the benefit of the doubt. Angie and Brad seem to genuinely enjoy their children. You don’t do that and look like they do, at each other or the kids, if your heart isn’t in it.

Kae, Angelina and Madonna are not the people to adopt
overseas. This is in fact, quite common. It is not as easy as
you would believe to adopt in the US. Also, the need, overseas
because of war, disease and famine is greater. Angelina,
naturally, as part of her work in UNHCR saw this need first
hand. It was a natural progression for her to want to adopt
internationally. There is even an organization, World Orphan
Foundation, that works with international orphans.

Many children in US in foster care are not adoptable because their parent’s parental rights have not been terminated, and the process, especially of private adoptions, can be very expensive. Most people also want babies or young children to adopt, many adoptable children are older children or minorites. Maybe if interested you could investigate foster parenting or look into an older child/minority adoption.

Kae-Children in the US in foster care situations, however sad, are still living for the most part in far better conditions that many children overseas. Also many in US have heard “horror” stories of adopted children being returned to biological parent or parents by Courts due to defects in the adoption process, so they do not try US adoption.
It is also rare for parents to seek return of childen in overseas adoptions. It also usually can take longer for adoptions in US. For all we know, Angie and Brad have or will apply to adopt a child in US.

First, no one child is more important than another. That said, people who have it in their hearts to adopt follow their hearts when choosing from which country to adopt.

Secondly, if you look at the list of well known celebs who have chosen to adopt in the last 10 or so years, the majority have adopted from their home countries. Don’t believe the hype and don’t believe this is a trend. Celebrity baby blog asked its readers to list the names of well known celebrities who have adopted internationally. The list was incredibly small. Most kept coming up with names of well known celebs who have chosen to adopt their children from the USA.

Right now as I’m typing I’m watching an amazing special about Africa on The Travel Channel that Bob Geldorf is narrating and which by way has as it’s commericial breaks the ONE end poverty campaign. IMO Oprah has put her money where her mouth is as well as her time. I learned of the FISTULA Foundation home because of her show just like i learned about the need for Refugee advocates from Angelina. Regarding Oprah deciding to not become a mother, I think it’s wise and honest of her. She has never to my knowledge ever suggested she had a desire to do that and instead has found a varity of ways to assist woman who are mothers, and help children who are without one or both parents. Oprah for all the bull she sometimes flings is still someone i have great respect for, and I think she’s been a blessing to many who didn’t have a voice just as Angelina, Bono, Brad and all the others who put their tme and money where their mouths are. JMHO

One final point on the inaccuracy of Forbes. The 2004 celebrity list has Brad Pitt’s earnings at $25 million. Now that was the year Brad made Troy. Troy grossed almost $500 million worldwide, not counting DVDs. Not only was Brad the star but also a producer. Does anyone really believe Brad only walked away with $25 million? Now I’m done. Re adopting from Africa and other countries. As some have said above, the kids in “Third World” countries are being saved from death….that is not the case in this country. Yeah, we have kids dying in poverty, but usually, they are living with their parents. It is also taking longer to adopt overseas. I have a co-worker who thought she’d be adopting an Ethiopian baby boy this summer - she’s still waiting. She is going through the same agency Angie used. I’m not sure what the hold up is, but I know she’s really anxious to have her baby - she too can’t have her own.

Susan - have you tried other states or even Canada. I know Canadians do adopt Americans because there was a story in the national paper(GlobeandMail) a few years ago about a couple in BC who adopted from the south.

188 - About the Oscars, I follow them for some time now, I can tell you I am an expert but I know some things.
First of all, to get a nomination to BP ( the most important one) you have to had a combination of details.
First, critic support, in Babel case is important because is a small movie. That’s mean that all critics are gonna love it, but the important ones ( Like Ebert, Jefrey Weells, David Poland, Tom O’neil) needs to show support.

Then you need the economic support, the movie have to bring back the budget in the box office ( Capote only did 28 millions in the box office, but the budget was 7 millions, so it’s was a hit)

Then the media hype and the buzz is as important as the quality of the film (I know it’s not fair, but that’s how it works, CRASH, I am looking at you). I have seen great films don’t get what they deserved because of lack of buzz and media support.

Mostly Oscar sites that I frequent, they predict Babel as a candidate for BP nominee, and see Brad getting his BSA nominee. And I think it will be a hit, but the fans need to show that they like it.

I am late with this theory but I think Shiloh wasn’t planned. There is a phenomena that happens when women (who are not practicing birth control) bring babies into their lives. They seem to get pregnant! One of my former professors thought she was infertile. She and her husband adopted 2 Russian orphans. Three months later, she was pregnant! They now have 5 kids-three of which are biol!

Susan, Its wonderful you are going to foster children. I’m sure
these children need all the help they can get.

In America, there is a waiting list to adopt babies - in the case of
white babies - 2 years and in the case of black babies, 3 to 6
months. Just check any adoption website. I read that babies
means children under the age of 2 years. Most of the children
waiting for adoption in the US are between the age of 8 and 18.

I can absolutely understand why people are reluctant to adopt an
older child. If you adopt a baby, the chances of having to deal
with the child’s traumas is a lot less. It it sad? Absolutely.
However, its like adopting a child with a disability. It takes a very
very special person and I’m sure I would not choose to do so. I
do admire people like Susan and her husband who will consider
older adoptions or foster care.

In the case of Brad and Angelina’s family, I’m not sure if they will
adopt an older child for a while. Maddox is only 5. If they adopt a
child older then 5, it would mean that Maddox loses his position as
big brother - which may not be good for Maddox. if they adopt a
child between Z’s and Maddox’s age, that may not be good for Z
or Shiloh. Z needs a certain type of attention as a 2 year old and
she may not be good for her to share it with a 3.5 year old. I
think it would be easier for Z to handle a child younger then her
then one older then her. Aside from blended families arising from
remarriages, most children have to deal with sharing their parents
with younger children, not older children. I read that many
blended families don’t work out (despite the brady bunch).

If I were Brad and Angelina, I would want to wait until Shiloh was
about 2 before adopting another baby. And basically have
another baby every 2 years either by adoption or biological. At
that rate, they will have their 7 kids in another 8 years. I think
you would adopt an older child - say a 5 or 7 year old when your
youngest child is already 9 or 10.

They all really bug me but less so when it near the bottom rather than the middle or top where I, at least, get to view a “defaced” face.

If possible, could u explain the reasoning behind this practice, since common sense tells me the value of a celebrity pic depends on how good they look.

Yes! Diwali is the festival of lights….now I remember. For some reason, I was mistaking it for the Festival of colors…..that’s another good one. Honestly, if you’ve never visited India, add it to your must visit places and be prepared to completely embrace the culture, it’s the the only way to truly enjoy it. I’m glad the JPs are doing the same thing. It is so nice that the JP children are exposed to different cultures…..they are gonna grow up to be true citizens of the world. Best experience a parent can give their child.
